It was easier than she expected to be able to find her way into the Winter Soldier's Vault. She had been watching the room for a few days and noticed the only person who had been in was a few different cleaners. This had immediately given her an idea. She had soon found a misplaced uniform and tried it on, ignoring how Fitz sniggered at the outfit. Ward certainly didn't seem to mind that the skirt she had to wear was on the shorter side. Once she entered the vault she immediately spotted Barnes on the bed, leaning against the wall. Kayla turned away from the camera's in the room and took a deep breath.

"Don't make any sounds or sudden movements. I'm here to help you. I need you to turn around so the camera's can't see you" Kayla informed him.

Fitz had turned off the sound to the cell minutes before, so no one would be able to hear them speaking. She wasn't sure if he had even heard her as he didn't even open his eyes. Then slowly he turned around, making it seem like the most normal gesture in the world.

"Who are you?" A gruff voice asked her.

"Just someone who knows what its like to get locked up in this vault and wants to help. Also, I don't exactly want the guys outside being able to control you" She explained, as she began to clean a nearby table.

"You want to help me escape?" She heard him question.

"If I do...you're not going to kill me, are you?" Kayla frowned.

She had no idea who this guy really was and didn't know how dangerous he was. She knew it could be a mistake letting him go, but she felt the risk of not helping him was greater.

"No" The man answered.

"Well that filled me with confidence...The plan is to get you out of this cell when there is an invasion of this base, we want you on our side" Kayla told him.

"Are you with Hydra?" He inquired, as she could practically hear the frown in his voice.

"What? No! Of course not" Kayla replied, slightly offended.

"I'm with the F.A.S. We're fighting against S.H.I.E.L.D" She clarified for him.

"I thought this was Hydra?" Barnes queried.

"Nope, you're in S.H.I.E.L.D. They're more or less the new Hydra" She stated.

"They want to re-programme me?" He inquired.

"We think so, yeah. This isn't going to be an easy job getting you out though. Do you have anyone who may be able to help us? Any contacts?" Kayla asked, feeling desperate.

"No" Bucky replied.

"C'mon, you must have someone. Where have you been staying since the fall of S.H.I.E.L.D?" She insisted.

"On the streets" He exclaimed.

"...Oh. We were kind of hoping you would have met up with Captain America. We could sure use his help right now" Kayla sighed.

"Steve?" Bucky questioned, a tinge of hope in his voice.

"How much of your life do you even remember?" Kayla inquired, but got no reply.

"Okay, well I have to go before I make myself look suspicious. The invasion is in 5 days" Kayla announced, packing up her cleaning equipment.

"Wait. Why can't you help me escape now?" Bucky asked, fear in his voice.

"I can't let them know I'm a double agent. I'm sorry, but...I can't. Not yet" She replied.

She turned to look at him, but he was still looking at the corner, his shoulder's hunched. With a sigh she left the room, feeling bad that she was having to leave him in there. She was walking back to Ward's room to tell him what she had found out when she found a scrunched up photo on the floor near the kitchen. She bent down and opened it out, finding it to a picture of the man she had just seen. He looked completely different, his hair shorter, and looked well groomed. He had his arm around a small looking blonde boy, who had a large grin on his face. She realised Bucky must have dropped it when they had dragged him away, he must have been gripping it in his hand. A decision made, she marched into Ward's room and closed the door.

"We're going to find Captain America and he's going to help us" She announced, as Ward and Fitz looked up at her.

"Does he or us have a say in this?" Fitz asked.

"Nope" She shrugged, with a grin.

Kayla had been worried it would take a long time to track down Steve Rogers, but she had been forgetting that she had a specialist on her team. Ward's skills at tracking someone down were uncanny and by that evening he had tracked him down. Now they just had to figure a way out to contact him. Kayla had found that he had smartly been using burner phones, so she couldn't hack into them. However, he soon went into an internet café and started to look for any updates on the Winter Soldier. Kayla quickly hacked into the computer he was using and sent him a message.

'Don't make any sudden moves or tell anyone about this. I have information on Bucky Barnes, nod if you are reading this', she sent, as it flashed on his computer screen. After a moment, Steve reluctantly nodded, so Kayla sent an address to a diner and told him to meet her there if he wanted to see his friend again.

"That didn't sound like too much of a threat, did it?" Kayla frowned.

"Just a little bit" Fitz sighed.

"Jesus, he's going to try to kill me, isn't he? Oh well" Kayla shrugged.

"I'm coming with you" Ward insisted.

"No, you're not. It will look too suspicious. I'll be fine, don't worry" Kayla told him.

"I always worry about you" Ward admitted.

"I know" Kayla said, a small smile on her face.

She then pulled Ward into a hug, going onto her tip-toes, as she wrapped her arms around his shoulders. She felt him slide his hands around her waist, hugging her back just as tightly, as he dropped his head onto her shoulder. I should do this more often, she thought to herself with a grin. A cough from behind them, made them pull away, awkward grins on their faces.
