Ward opened the door as she shut it instantly behind him, as the fighting erupted. She couldn't help but grimace as she heard shots go off in the corridor, knowing they weren't from Ward's night-night gun. After what seemed like hours, but in reality, was probably less than ten minutes, the fighting suddenly stopped and there was an eerie silence. A moment later, Ward burst through the door, a smirk on his now bloody face.
"No fatalities…but I'm pretty sure they'll feel that in the morning" Ward explained, as they stepped into the corridor, which was now covered with unconscious agents.
"You know how everyone says you're the best since Romanoff?" Kayla asked.
"Yeah?" Ward questioned.
"Well, I think you're better" She grinned, as a smile erupted on his face.
"I'll call you when I've let the rest in. Here, take my gun" Ward offered, holding it out to her.
"What about you?! You need a weapon" She insisted.
He looked around the corridor and pulled a metal bar from the wall after pulling against it for a few seconds.
"Stay safe" He told her.
"You too" She nodded, as they ran off in other directions.
She hadn't got far before she practically ran into two agents at the end of the corridor. She raised her gun and shot the first agent immediately, as the other one started firing at her. She ran for cover beside a nearby bin, and let out a groan. She couldn't get a good enough shot without putting herself in the man's line of fire.
"Think Kayla, outside the box" She said to herself, banging her head against the bin.
She looked up at the ceiling above her and spotted a gas duct not too far away from her as a plan formed into her mind. She picked up Coulson's device she had kept from earlier and lined up her aim.
"Please let this work" She whispered, as she threw it as far as she could in the air.
It hit the screws on the far end of the duct, as it suddenly fell and hit the unsuspecting agent off his feet, as he flew to the floor, unconscious. She smirked and started to run over to the lift that she was supposed to meet Steve at. She used all her strength to open the lift doors, and looked down the shaft, not seeing anything.
"Hey" A voice boomed from above her, making her jump out of her skin.
"Jesus! I've got a bad heart now, remember?" She yelled at him, as he swung into the corridor from the ladder he had been holding onto.
"Which way?" Steve questioned, a small smile on his face, as she ushered him to the left.
They soon came to the corner of the corridor that Bucky was being held in and peaked through. There were over ten agents standing in front of his door, all carrying large guns.
"Okay, so the plan is-" Kayla was cut off as Steve started to run down the corridor.
"…Or we could that…" She trailed off, as Steve began to fight the agents.
By the time she had reached Vault D, Steve had already taken out three of the agents, reflecting their shots with his shield. Kayla quickly hacked her way into Vault D, seeing that Daisy had turned the passwords to her emergency setting.
"Really Skye? You actually went through with having Spongebob as your emergency password?" Kayla shook her head, with a small smile.
She pushed her way through the heavy door, and rushed down the stairs to where Bucky was standing anxiously.
"Is it time?" He asked, as she nodded, and began hacking into the tablet, taking down the invisible wall.
Bucky hesitantly inched forward, raising his hand out to make sure it was gone, before crossing over the threshold.
"C'mon! We need to go, now!" Kayla insisted, as Bucky began to follow her.
He suddenly froze a moment later, confusing Kayla, as she turned around and saw Steve standing at the top of the stairs. Neither of them seemed to even bat an eyelid for the next minute, as Kayla rolled her eyes.
"Guys, you can have this reunion when we're all safe okay? We've still got a job to do" Kayla stated, as Steve nodded.
"What does she mean?" Bucky quiered.
"We need to take out hanger, to stop anyone from being able to escape. You in?" Steve inquired, unsurely.
"I don't want any of these guys getting away" Bucky said, darkly.
"Kayla, I've opened the doors. We're in" Ward informed her through their comms.
"Alright, coming to you" Kayla replied, as she rushed up the stairs, going the opposite way to Bucky and Steve.
She was rushing up the stairs when she spotted a familiar blonde at the top, and gritted her teeth.
"Morse" Kayla spat out.
"Who the hell are you?" Bobbi questioned.
"Oh yeah, I guess you don't recognize me with this face. I was locked up in Vault D for 6 months, betrayed by my whole team and now I'm back to kick some ass…does that help?" Kayla explained.
"Kayla…what the hell are you doing here?" Bobbi inquired.
"Are we going to have a nice little talk or are we going to fight?" Kayla asked.
"The latter" Bobbi exclaimed, taking out her batons, approaching her.
"Actually, I think this is my dance" Kayla heard a voice say from behind her.
"I think you're damn right, Kara" Kayla said, letting her pass.
Kara then lunged at Bobbi, taking the woman right off her feet. She elbowed her in the throat, making Bobbi wheeze to catch a breath. The blonde, then kicked out at Kara, pushing her off her. They began to fight in hand to hand combat, Kara expertly blocking Bobbi's advances, as she headbutted the taller woman. She then threw her over her shoulder, and twisted around and kicked her in the face, hard, knocking her unconscious.
"You have no idea how glad I am to see you" Kayla grinned at the older woman.
"Likewise Kayla" Kara winked.
A moment later, Kara's face changed instantly, as she grimaced at something behind Kayla. She turned around and came face to face with her ex-best friend.
"Kayla?" Daisy gasped.
"Hey Skye" Kayla gulped.
