Fourth Decision
They stood there in the middle of the road after they just left the hospital and were heading to Haru's house. While Gokudera was expecting her to response when he seriously asked where her house actually was she could only laugh at him. Holding her stomach she almost let the cake she had already bitten into fall. He scowled at her but when he realized his cheeks turned lightly red he turned his back to her and growled.
"What is there to laugh about?" His voice seemed angry as he asked her while scratching the back of his head in embarrassment. Really, there's nothing to laugh about, is there?
"Well… you see…" Haru said in between her laughter. She wiped away the tears that were accumulated in the edges of her eyes and tried to calm down. "You were… so eager to go and headed there first… without even knowing where to go?" She brought out only to burst out in laughter again. How unexpected to see such a Gokudera. She somehow felt really happy and glad that she wasn't alone. It's never boring when he's around. Though roughly 90% of their conversation were quarreling it certainly is never boring.
"Well…" He started but didn't know how to retort to that. "Yeah, got a problem with that?" He crossed his arms and pouted.
"Not at all!" She giggled and went ahead. "But you don't need to accompany me home."
"I've got nothing to do anyways…" He mumbled following her until he matched her pace. "And I think I should introduce myself to your parents." That again? Why was he so fixated on that? Haru didn't understand. It's okay to feel bad about it but to go to such lengths. Is that common in Italia or in the mafia world? She didn't know. Whatever it is this is japan and Haru is Japanese. Though she was scarred it's is now not the time anymore where people care about that stuff. She didn't want Hayato to do that for her.
"Listen Gokudera." She stopped causing him to stop too and faced his to look into his eyes. "I understand that you feel responsible for what happened. But this scar on my forehead isn't your fault at all. It was my very own decision to protect you back then and I don't regret it one bit. Therefore you really don't have to do this. And they are not at home anyways." If he continues with that she never be able to recover from that.
"But if no one marries you and you end up as an old hag without someone by your side or children to support you?" He said as he pinched her cheeks but she shook him off quickly. She couldn't believe it. She was serious about that matter and all he does is pinching her cheeks. Was he even serious? As she thought Gokudera Hayato was one human she couldn't really grasp. He does things his way and never cared to make people understand him or actually never cared about people (other than Tsuna of course). Therefore she asked herself, what exactly the point in all of that was. All of his actions were too confusing for her. His words also never clearly stated what he was actually thinking. But she wanted to know. And if he's not going to tell her himself then she has to get it out of him herself.
"Do you love me or even like me, Gokudera?" The brown-haired girl asked directly and causing him to make a stunned face which slowly started to redden.
"Eh... I... I... don't know..." He stuttered as he tried to hide that embarrassed face of his behind one of his hands. "I-I mean. The hell I do!? No way!"
She sighed after hearing that answer. Of course he didn't. He'd never. Not her. After all the time they've spend together. After all the things that happened. There's no way he would. They don't fit either way. She put her arms on her hips. Straightened her back to look confident and grinned at him. "I'd be really surprised and shocked if you did. You should fall in love and go out with that person and marry him or her someday." She said and put one hand on his shoulder. "After all, life's too short to not experience real love."
"W-wait! Why're you saying 'him'?!" Gokudera asked fiercely. Is that really her impression of him?
"Well you love Tsuna so much and you're really mean towards almost every women you know. Too bad he's with Kyoko now. Guess we've both lost to Kyoko." Haru explained half-jokingly and giggled at his reaction. She felt kinda glad that he seemed to deny it so much. At least there was a chance. No. Wait Haru. He just said he didn't like her. Don't get your hopes up. While shoving away those feelings again she felt like she wanted to tease him more for making her feel that way. "It's okay Gokudera. We can be honest with each other."
"No! Wait! That's cause he's a precious friend and my boss and most women are annoying me but I like women!" He still insisted so much to clear up that misunderstanding of hers that she actually didn't misunderstand that she burst out into laughter again. He didn't know what to say anymore and shut his mouth in embarrassment watching her calm down.
"That's not the point here…" She slowly caught her breath again. "What I wanted to say was that I'd rather die alone than having someone unhappy by my side for the rest of my life. I'd feel bad about it if you weren't able to spend your life with someone you truly love because you chose to stay with me." She smiled at him hoping he would understand her. If she was really able to be with him in future. She thought she'd be really happy at first. But who knows if he might fall in love with someone as time flies by. She wouldn't want that. It's so painful to love when you're not loved back. Therefore she shouldn't let herself be swayed by her feelings again.
"But-" The silver haired guy still insisted but she cut him off.
"No buts go home and have a proper sleep now! I know that you were watching over me the entire nights I spend in hospital." His cheeks were now turned fully red to his ears. He didn't want her to know that. That's why he always left before she woke up and never left a trace of him.
"H-how?!" He stuttered and got flustered so he turned his head to avoid her stare.
"The nurse told me and she said she totally envied me for having such a handsome and sweet boyfriend." Haru answered cheerfully as she grinned at him.
"Uh! Did it really look like that?!"
"Probably." Haru giggled. It obviously looked like that. Who'd ever do that for a friend? Stupid-dera. She stepped forward and gave him a slight hug. "Thank you for everything. See ya!" After giving him a final smile she ran away leaving him dumbfounded in the middle of the street.
Hi there~
Here's the next chap! I've already written quite a few parts but they are yet not finished
Therefore I have one IMPORTANT QUESTION to you!
I've always written gokuharu stuff mostly with only fluff or one or two kisses when they were high school students
but since they're University students now and adults I'm thinking about writing more intimate stuff
are you guys against it or would you like to read them getting intimate?
Lots of love to you Mido~
