A/N:
@michiko-chan27: I was worried of how things will turn out on that chapter. Good thing you like it. HAHAHA! Being a gentleman is a curse sometimes. Ah. Yeah. He's an avid reader so he'll read books that will catch his eyes and his hands can touch. Giotto can be really mean you know. And no specification on Timeteo's line. All I know is the one who ruled the world when Giotto was a warlock was the ancestors of Timeteo. Kawahira was a human. When they sacrificed themselves, his humanity got stripped off. Like he just woke up and he realized that he won't age after three years, so yes. He's pretty much alive.
But nah. This book will have a happy ending. Tsuna, with all his sacrifice and hardships, will have a happy ending. Your theories are good though. I like that second one. HAHAHA! I'm so in love with Ira that I just want him to become a supreme demon and kill all the sins with Belial, but just can't because of plot thingy. But I have to apologize. I cannot make an omake regarding the Arcobaleno feeling Tsuna's angry sky burst because it was only those who are in the ballroom who got to feel it (Lal was taken away by some acquaintances, Bermuda roamed around, Fon got interested with the training grounds and Verde got absorbed with the facilities.)
And I don't really mind. I enjoy reading your thoughts. If you want to give more theories, do so. It's fun knowing that I have readers who reads my book a lot of times. So thank you.
@acertainpasserby: I told you, Aria has her own version of truth. Hahaha! Oho. I like your reaction on the kiss. HAHAHA! That was not intentional, but I couldn't resist putting it there. One way or another, Tsuna will have to sacrifice. He always problems the world even if he doesn't have too. It's a downside of being a sky.
@ShadowEmperor2031: No prob. It's good you liked it.
@H (Guest): Thank you.
Thank you for all the reviews! Hahaha! You guys are awesome! So here's the first update of the week. Don't mind the grammar and spelling mistakes. Though I just now you'll be so pissed with this chapter. HAHAHA. Fingers crossed that you won't.
Anyway, onwards!
Chapter Fifty-One
"He declared a war against Giglio Nero." Lal said with a firm voice. "They invited us to a party and this is what we'll pay them? It's stupid!"
Skull and Colonnello looked at each other.
"Where did you hear this from?" Skull asked, schooling down his irritation. Tsuna was right. If he's this good about his emotion that will take years to be mastered then he is an old man.
"All guests were talking about it." Fon supplied. He was expressionless, eyes in rage. "They said Tsuna flared his sky aura in front of Aria and Yuni."
"Have you verified this to the Giglio Nero?" Reborn asked as he stepped out of the shadow.
"No." Verde responded, pinching the space between his eyes as if what was happening was a headache for him. "Tsuna wasted a possible negotiation to the ruler of Noerim for what he had done. It was foolish and uncalled for. Such immaturity isn't warranted."
'Since when did you become an expert in politics?' Colonnello wanted to asked but he dropped it instead.
"Aria offered us a place when I talked to her." Lal provided. "She said she's willing to house us. It was kind of her. And with what Tsuna had done, I don't mind going to her."
Colonnello balled his hands to fists. "Ah."
"I'll come." Fon seconded. "Until Tsuna gets his calm, I won't be coming back."
'Isn't that your job?' Colonnello wanted to snap at Fon but only let go a breath to relax himself.
'Two down. One more to go.' Reborn checked on his list, eyeing Verde from his peripheral.
"I agree." Verde nodded.
"Regardless, you'll always be welcome to come back." Skull informed, leveling the three a firm look. "Tsuna will not abandon you."
The three's lips twitched but Skull eyed Bermuda who was quiet the whole time. He has a hunch that the Night will take on the offer too. He saw him talking with Yuni on the party and had been smitten by the Sky. Probably his first time to feel another sky attraction.
To be honest, he's so tempted to spill them the beans. That Aria was the first one to do the aura intimidation. That Tsuna only answered back because the Giglio Nero was getting selfish. That Tsuna knew everything about the war, what conspired there and that he was calm enough not to give all his power that was enough to knock out the lady sky. That their Sky expressed how important they are for him.
But nah... Maybe this was Reborn's plan. To see who get swayed a lot easier and laugh at their faces once they discover how wrong they were. To make them guilty for doubting their Sky. It will be so painful that he'll just know it will be hilarious. And this is for Tsuna's sake.
Because his Sky will never do anything wrong without any reason for doing it.
When they decided to retire for the night, Skull and Colonnello stayed in the kitchen, whispering as Skull cooks for three people (if Reborn joins them). Apparently, the Rain was down by the garden when he heard the two skies' conversation. He did feel the anger in Tsuna's flame but it wasn't all anger. There was disappointment to it that confused him. Skull filled him in on what he had thought about the invitation to what he thinks Reborn's scheme was.
"I'm worried about Tsuna." Skull sighed as he put down his mug of chocolate. "He won't take this well even if he meant what he said."
"Speaking of mental health," Colonnello gave a half grin. "Viper isn't here. It means he checked on Tsuna?"
"Probably. I even suspected he'll stay. Aria might have riches, but Viper likes Tsuna as his Sky since Tsuna is pretty much invested on giving us equal attention." The Cloud shrugged.
"Are you going, Bermuda?" Colonnello queried as the Night stepped in and took a seat beside Skull who passed the latter a mug of chocolate.
"I don't want to. My sky is Tsuna from the first up to my last breath. No one looked at me like I mattered like he does up until now. Aria Giglio Nero might be a sky, but no one knows her true intention nor personality. No offense, but I do not know who this Luce even."
Skull and Colonnello chuckled at Bermuda's straightforward answer.
"Honestly, I don't really know which is better." Colonnello admitted with a wistful look in his eyes. "The one who formed us to fulfill a duty, the other who wants to continue a legacy with a lot of invitation letters, or the fella who put us back together by an essay."
Skull laughed while Bermuda mused. "That essay gave Tsunayoshi a lot of nervousness. You cannot imagine how many times he asked us if he needed to revise what he wrote because he thinks it's too formal or too informal."
"But it was good." The Rain vouched with a happy smile. "Who knew he can be that good. And he never knew that he has sky aura in the first place. Did you sense it?"
The Night was silent for a moment before shaking his head. "Tsunayoshi was deemed colorless by the machine and the student population because he never showed any visible feeling of aura. Even his personality contradicts with it. He could've passed as a cloud with how aloof and vicious he was at that time."
"But he fits for every elements." Skull pointed out. "He can be as calm as the rain. Possessive as a cloud, resentful as a night, hopeful as a sun, deceiving as a mist, protective as a lightning, violent as a storm and as accepting as a sky. Sometimes he's so perfect that I can't find fault in him."
"If you tell him that, he'll deny such a thing." Bermuda smiled. "He's so humble and a positive pessimist about himself. The world will praise him, but he'll think they're idiots for thinking about him in such a way."
Colonnello pictured it in his head and laughed. "I can see him scowling already."
"But I'm still worried." Skull voiced, earning the other's attentions. "What will happen to the others if we leave them be? Those three can be pretty impulsive even if Verde has a rational mind."
"Tsuna did tell us to keep an eye out on Verde since he was the first one to disappear in the castle proper." Bermuda muttered before letting out a breath. "I'll do it. I'm mostly undetected. Just watch Tsuna for me."
"I could've done it." Skull frowned.
"Nah. Tsuna needs the four of you. I don't mind being the little shadow." The Night smirked.
"Sometimes, you're looking like Reborn minus the sideburns." The Rain pointed out.
"Now that you mentioned Reborn," Skull gave a mischievous smile with a wiggle of his eyebrows. "Don't you think something fishy happened between them? Sempai was on cloud nine when he came back from Tsuna."
Colonnello grinned before cackling like a madman, accompanied by Bermuda's chuckle. "Maybe someone got on second stage."
"Woah!" Skull exclaimed before laughing himself.
Then a gunshot was heard and two bullets wheezed past their heads and embodied themselves on the wall opposite of Bermuda and Skull. The three demons gave manly yelps. Colonnello even covered his nose that got almost nicked. Upstairs, Reborn smirked at their reactions.
A burning ache spiked from three different places. One on the hip. Another on the side. Lastly, on the back. He visibly winced and groaned at the drumming pain that continuously rammed his body that felt like forever before it slowly went away. Slowly, his body relaxed and succumbed to rest.
The moment Tsuna woke up, he knew something was wrong. His intuition was sadly informing him about something related to his contract. His body felt heavy and his aura was missing a third of power. When he opened his eyes, he was greeted with Viper's sleeping face. He had to blink a lot of times to assure himself that- No, he's not dreaming. And Yes, this is Viper. He looked down on himself and noticed that the dark purple cloak of his Mist was draped over his own blanket.
What happened?
He tried to go back to what happened the night before. After they bid each other goodbyes, Reborn went back to Fiant. Tsuna, who did a late reaction on what he did, fell back to the bed and started to blush like a tomato. He was so embarrassed yet happy and relieved. Then an hour after while reading a book for research, Viper materialized in his room with a grave expression.
Normally, it was his Mist who will have to comfort him. But that night, he has to do what the esper does to him. Assure Viper that everything will be okay, that nothing will happen to anyone and he'll be there with him. The mist arcobaleno told him what the others think. That he declared a war against the Giglio Nero and the group will be divided into two because of what the others believe. Tsuna almost protested at first, but when he realized how inevitable it is for the Arcobaleno to be torn apart with Aria on the loop, he accepted that he could do nothing to stop it.
What troubled him the most was the scared look on the Mist. The way Viper grasped his hands and mumbled prayers of how he doesn't want him to go or vanish. Tsuna almost wanted to make a joke, but seeing how panicked the other was, he sealed his lips and asked what was wrong. Viper told him that he was able to enter Yuni's mind when they got to talk a little. It was unintentional, but almost like the child wanted him to see something. He didn't elaborate much, but the young man had to promise that if he got in a pinch, he'll find a way to contact them. At any form, at any means, as long as they find him and have him back. He wholeheartedly agreed and promised with his heart.
(His intuition hummed.)
Careful and sluggish, Tsuna sat up, removed the cloak from him and put it on Viper in the slowest and cautious manner before prying off the blanket and went out of the bed. He had to put a hand on the side table when a whizz of dizziness washed over him. He had to shake his head to remove the darkness that invaded his sight. When he deemed himself okay, he continued what he was going to do.
When he was by the mirror, his eyes darted back in forth to Lal's and Verde's contract symbols that were grey. His throat contracted, a big painful lump on it that almost caused him to tear up. He immediately looked at the other symbols, and saw Fon's grey too. In the end, he sighed and accepted the fact that they cut him off. But it was okay. At least he's not the only one suffering on this.
He slipped out of his room and went to his class. Like when he put a barrier on Reborn, he felt out of energy and weak. But he pushed through. If Kyouya and Mochida noticed how slow he was, they didn't say anything. It was Hana who voiced her concern but didn't ask him about the party. She only told him about the things he borrowed and the cape. He promised to return them by tomorrow.
He understands them though. Lal, Fon and Verde. He also feels sorry about tearing the Arcobaleno apart. He doesn't know who to blame about it. Should he blame Aria for approaching him and exploding on him just because he's a hypocrite who see the faults of both races? Or is it him for humouring the Giglio Nero boss and losing his cool like that because the woman tried to cover her selfishness with the use of 'we' and threatened to take the Arcobaleno from him?
Who knows.
It was lunch when he decided to eat after an intensive workout in the obstacle course. He was walking in the lobby when he suddenly found himself getting picked up by the collar of his shirt. He blinked to focus himself and stared at enraged emerald green eyes. His brain slowly registered what was happening and inclined his head to the side as the other kept on saying things he can't really follow.
"-the reason why Tsuyoshi-oji-san is in the hospital! If you bastard didn't come to Namimori, that fucking Sin won't have come there! You-"
"Wait. Tsuyoshi-oji is in the hospital?" Tsuna repeated, a little confused. "Why?"
"Weren't you listening-"
"What I hate-" The brunet put a hand on the grip on his collar and gave enough painful pressure that forced the other to let him go. "-are people who doesn't answer me directly." Then he kicked the back of the left knee and stared directly at the silveret who attacked him as he fell down on the floor. "Now, answer me. Why is Tsuyoshi-oji in the hospital?"
"Who the fuck-" Tsuna gave the hand a twist on the wrong direction, effectively cutting the green-eyed young man off. "Ow! Ow! Let me go you fucking murderer!"
Tsuna got stunned at what he was labeled. "Murderer...?"
"Hayato!"
The delinquent let go of the silveret as a familiar person rushed towards them. It was Takeshi and he looked a little tired but okay. He slid down next to the silveret, that Tsuna remembered now as the noiret's summon, and checked for any injuries. The brunet wanted to assure the other that he didn't give any physical attack, but he couldn't. He's more affected than the two were.
Murderer.
It wasn't really new. He was even called a bastard, a homicidal and a monster. An instigator of war last night. But to actually have a clue that he murdered someone... Not bad. He could probably pull it off (if he really did the job).
"Tsuna? I'm so sorry. It was a misunderstanding. Hayato thought you were the one who caused the chaos so he attacked you." Takeshi tried to clarify, but Tsuna only stared at him.
"But he was the reason!" The silveret insisted, growling at him, which he returned with a blank stare.
"Shut up, Hayato!" Takeshi sternly reprimanded. "It was inescapable. Whether Tsuna was there or not, those demons would still attack the town. If Tsuna wasn't there, we could've died. The portal that helped us bring Oyaji to the hospital belonged to his summon. He was even kind enough to evacuate all families in Namimori when the town scorned him."
"Takeshi." Tsuna sighed. They were gaining attentions. "Enough. I understand. Do you need help with Tsuyoshi-oji? I can bring Reborn or heal him up myself."
"No. It's okay. He's getting better." Takeshi grinned with relief as he stood up with his summon. "He was only scratched on the side. Almost fatal if it was any inches closer. Oyaji also wants to see you. You helped us get rid of those demons who were attacking us in the front of the shop."
The brunet blinked before sheepishly smiling. "I did that?"
"You don't remember?" Then the youngest Yamamoto sighed in exasperation. "Typical Tsuna."
"What are you crowding at?"
If they were afraid of Kyouya, they could've scrammed snappily like the others did. The only one who tensed among the three was Hayato while Takeshi took it in a stride and Tsuna looked out of it. The other demon of Saint Academy strode toward them with a scowl. He was eyeing the brunet who looked slumped regardless of how he made himself stand straighter.
"Takeshi Yamamoto, what are you doing here?" He questioned, eyes sliding to the former student of academy.
"Ah. Just retrieving something, I guess." The pertained then gave a nervous laugh.
The prefect pinned the other demon of Saint Academy with his eyes. "Tsunayoshi."
"Hmm?" The brunet hummed absentmindedly.
Kyouya sighed. "Call a summon."
"What? Why?" Tsuna questioned immediately, almost pouting. "It will pass, Kyouya. It's not like I didn't fight you in this state."
"You can't just say that like you're standing upright."
Tsuna turned around and proceeded to walk for the canteen. "Don't worry about it. You might want to distance from me though. You don't want to associate yourself from a murderer."
Greyish purple eyes and dark brown ones glinted sharply. Kyouya immediately followed the brunet when the other continued on.
"You should come with me, Hayato." Takeshi sighed, almost sounding disappointed, but more of saddened and exasperated, as he hauled his summon away. "Seriously, Tsuna will go on around thinking how he become a murderer. Do you want him to reenact one?"
"He killed those thirty people, Takeshi! What do you want me to do? Talk like I idolize him because he was able to make a fucking Sin come when they're supposed to be asleep?!"
"I want you to shut the fuck up." Hayato halted as Takeshi turned around to glare at him. It was his first time hearing Takeshi curse and glare at him without his usual deceiving smile. "You don't know how hard it was for Tsuna to save any people of Namimori after what they did to him. He was shunned away, Hayato. He was bullied to the point that he asked his family to teach him how to fight. He was labelled as a delinquent because he doesn't fit in after saving one demon baby.
"And do you know what's worst? He never had any physical contact aside from his family. He was so awkward around us with Oyaji that he always has an excuse to avoid us. He was friendless. You don't know what that feels like because you have demon friends. Tsuna doesn't. And do you really think he'll kill his grandfather? When that old man meant the world to him? He's only human and not someone as good as you. He's not a hero who can save anyone. I thought you're better than this. If you had any gratitude, you could've thanked him instead of spouting nonsense. Don't accuse anyone of a murderer because you just felt like it."
Hayato looked back as Takeshi left him. He saw Tsunayoshi Sawada being surrounded by four Arcobaleno before they vanished. But he saw how Viper looked at him. It was murderous. He shivered as his heartbeat fastened.
He screwed up. Big time.
"Is it true?"
Kawahira turned around to see Aria Giglio Nero stalking towards him. The woman was rid of her usual serene smile and wearing a frown of doubt and confusion. It was rather an unusual sight to see since he got used to the smiles the family give him. The three Giglio Nero, from Luce to Yuni, are women to be saluted.
Luce, the great sacrifice of life, was a woman of duty. She told him how she knew that she has a purpose to complete in her life from the moment she got a proper grip of her consciousness. She did things for the sake of all the visions she saw. A true sky of worth with her personality and caring smile.
Aria is like her mother. What differed them was the fact that the second sky of Giglio Nero isn't as pure as others seemed. Regardless of how she was brought into the world by a caring mother, her selfishness of wanting things for her own is there. The Arcobaleno, the famiglia and the revenge for Luce. It was something she couldn't remove from her since she lived with it. Maybe it was a good thing the human sky was able to put her into a correct road.
(But why does he has to take on the burn?)
Yuni is a cute child. Innocent, cheerful and understanding. She's like the first two, and at the same time not. There's something in those eyes of hers that expresses gentleness and all-knowing. There's also unrelenting hope, not child-like hope but a hope that gives enough reason for a mass to look forward for a tomorrow.
Kawahira wonders if Tsunayoshi Sawada, the now known as the greatest sky, has the same thing. Even Byakuran felt like the albino knew a lot of things. Just too reckless and brash when that one gets excited about something. The immortal highly blames the marshmallows.
"Kawahira, were you human?" Aria asked again, stopping just by the steep part of the small hill he's sitting at. "Tell me."
"Before I answer," He looked back to the nice view he's been seeing. "what will it benefit you if I say I was a human?"
"To know if the demons were really outnumbered at the war."
"To be fair, the commoners were fighting for their rights too." Kawahira recalls, mind going back to the war he experienced. "The middle class couldn't careless and the high class were too comfortable on their seats. The only high class who wanted to have a coexistence between demons and humans was Giotto de Vongola."
"I thought he was an outcast for being a warlock."
"You didn't dig enough, Aria." Kawahira joked, knowing it will hit a nerve since the human sky said the same thing to her last night. "He's a warlock and a prince. Legitimate heir of the king's seat at that time. But since the family that was controlling the world didn't want him to claim inheritance, he was given a position to the high class spectrum. He used such privilege when he was able to wed his wife because he wants her to live in a good house with a good meal."
"His wife was a demon."
"Yes. And Tsunayoshi Sawada has a demon blood in his veins."
"It's flushed out." Aria argued.
"You cannot remove such heritage, Aria. A demon will always be a demon. Even if you have one tiny cell in you." Kawahira corrected before he sighed. "I was a commoner back then. Giotto met me when I wanted a potion to save my mother from her illness. He was even kind enough to give me this glasses when he deduced I couldn't see properly. The next time we met, I was being beaten by some thugs out of boredom. Because he was a high class, he was able to drive them away. No one wanted to spend their lives in the hellhole called prison. Then when the war happened, I offered myself to oversee the world without the Sins."
"Why?" The Sky gasped.
"Because I see what he wanted. I see the equality he wants to have." Kawahira moved his eyes to see the blue sky. "Luce gave her support and Tizia approved such decision. Tizia wanted to separate the demons from the humans and have their own world that isn't Hell because the Mundane was going to be destroyed if not. We can say Fiant is a realm between Mundane and Hell." He clenched his hands as he looked down, a surge of regret and sadness entered his heart. "At that time, I didn't know what was happening except something bad was going to happen if humans and demons do not separate. Giotto and Luce were in horror though. And now that I thought about it, I understood."
Aria's face went pale. "What do you mean?"
"There was imbalance between the two races. With the way the Sins administered their powers, there will be a possibility that humans will be wiped out as the number of demons escalates. Imagine all commoners and all high class becoming demons because of being hardworking and lazy under Sloth's command, or Lust's underlings."
"The middle class will be left out and they will be targeted by the other Sins, resulting to eradication of the race." Aria concluded, thinking further ahead. "When such thing happens, the world will be controlled by demons and food will be solved by eating each other. By then, war between demons will happen."
"Yes. Total destruction." The immortal nodded before looking back. "Now you see what was needed to happen?"
"Did Tsunayoshi know such a things?" Aria questioned, a little awed at the human's possible intelligence.
"I don't really know. I haven't met the Sky."
"Then what's Tsunayoshi's role in all this?"
Kawahira smiled as he looked up to the blue sky once more. "He's the one who will end this world's agony."
