Sixth Decision
The quiet chirping of little birds were reaching her ears and waking her up from her dreamless sleep. It was less chirping than usually and she realized the sound of a huge amount of dropping water. So she figured that it might be raining. After she opened her eyes ad stood up she was unconsciously looking through the room and searched for a certain silver haired guy. But since her brain wasn't still working to its fullest she quickly forgot about it and wondered what she was looking for. Well, can't be that important if she forgot that quickly. She thought and yawned. Then she opened up the curtains of her room to observe the weather. Yeah, it was raining. The sky was filled with clouds which swallowed a lot of sunlight and turned the colors of the city into grey and monotonous. Looking at that scenery she sighed and went to brush her teeth and do her hair wondering if she should put on some make-up and mascara. She rarely used them only for special occasions. She wouldn't have even thought of buying them herself but Kyoko and Hana were buying a whole set for her on her birthday when they were freshmen in university. It's been a little more than a year now and she has mostly used them three times. She thought about the occasions when she had used it asking herself if she should use it now.
The first time was when they went to their first party for first-years in university. Man that was totally unnecessary. She thought and sighed again. The second time was when they had their first uni-prom. She still remembered how Gokudera has laughed at her face when they met at Tsuna's before the prom but Kyoko and Hana have fixed it for her. Hana was asked by Ryohei and Kyoko had Tsuna. Haru herself was quite anxious whether she could get someone to go with her but she was luckily asked by Takeshi to be his partner. Chrome, Mukuro and Hibari, well, they were themselves so they didn't go. Also Gokudera didn't go saying it's just annoying to pick out one of his fan girls and then having the other hundred fight about him. Haru could only pout at his reasoning at that moment thinking it must be nice to be popular. Yeah, in the end all she did was stomping on Takeshi's feet but he didn't mind at all saying it was a nice eve. Anyways, the last time she used the make-up was when she had her first date with a Senpai from her faculty in university. But nothing much happened afterwards though. Today was nothing special and it even rained so why did she feel like she wanted to use them? Question marks were buzzing around her head. No matter how much she thought about it she couldn't find a reason plausible enough for her as an answer. "Whatever." She said to herself. If she wanted to use them she should just do it. She thought and started to put it on her face. When she finally finished preparing her stuff she took and umbrella and went outside. The moment she left her house and locked the door a familiar voice reached her ear.
"You sure took your time." The storm guardian said and gained a surprised look from her side when she turned around to see him standing beside her door. He stared at her with his usual annoyed glance and that grumpy expression. His hair and shoulders were a little wet but he acted like it was nothing. "Mornin'."
"Oh hi!" Haru greeted him with a high pitched voice still shocked from the surprise of his presence. So she made sure that he is real by poking his cheek and asked. "What are you doing here?"
"Stop that!" He gently pushed away her hand from his cheek and rubbed the place where she touched him having both sides of his cheeks turning a little rosy. "I thought I should pick you up so that we can go together. We have the same route anyways."
"I see…" Her brain took a while to understand what was actually going on. This was a first for her after all. He never picked her up whether it was for school or university even if they shared the same route. Usually she'd meet him coincidently somewhere along the way. So she asked herself why he did that so suddenly. The only reason could be… yeah, that. That stuff concerning her scar and that incident. She knew it was only that but she was glad that she actually put on some make up to make her a little prettier than usually since she got to see him today. Also she couldn't help feeling a little happy about the fact that he came to pick her up that her cheeks became warmer as they flushed into a light cherry shade. Her head automatically turned away to avert his glance but she still smiled and said. "Thank you!"
"What for?" He grinned and raised an eyebrow making her feel a little embarrassed.
"Everything?" She answered mockingly with a questioning tone in her voice and giggled.
"Che!" He took the umbrella and her bag and started walking towards the direction of the university.
"Hey wait!" She followed him and got under the umbrella without having him slow down his speed for her. "You're walking too fast." She's pouted and hit his shoulder lightly with her fist.
"You're just too slow." Gokudera retorted and moved the umbrella so that she stood in the rain.
"Gokudera!" The brunette shouted and walked back under it again while clinging onto his arm so that he cannot move it away. "Meanie! You should slow down for me."
"Why? I don't want to stand in the rain longer then I need to." He grinned seeing her clinging onto him was a really cute sight. He wanted to tease her a little more but the pouting face she showed signalized him to not push it too much. He knew where the limits to teasing her were after knowing her since so long. If he is any meaner she might be really angry at him. And that he didn't want.
"Then you shouldn't have come to get me in first place, you know!" She still pouted as he slowed down his pace for her and hid her completely from the rain. When she noticed that her shoulder wasn't getting wet any more so took a brief look at him to see that he held the umbrella so that she was protected from the rain while his own shoulder was getting wet. She wondered if she should say anything about it but she came to the conclusion that it's better to let him spoil her at least that much. Saying something would damage his pride as a man anyways. She giggled a little and a cheerful smile spread on her face. Gokudera can sometimes be kind, huh. She thought.
"I thought I should." He said calmly as he watched the brunette who still clang onto his arm walking beside him. Seeing her smile like that made him also smile slightly. "I…"
"I think there's something weird in your brain." Right when he was about to tell her something she blurted that out without thinking.
"Ha?!" As soon as that smile appeared on his face it disappeared again and he was back to old grumpy-dera. "Why?" He shouted at her sudden comment. Why did she have to spoil the mood when the atmosphere around them was kinda nice for a change?
"Because all you say makes no sense." He didn't answer to that. Maybe he knew that. But he didn't want to admit that. Well, it's true. He was usually so mean and such but sometimes he is really sweet and gentle. He says things and things that are totally opposite to the things he said and the things he said are mean but they are kind and who knows. Haru was confused by his behavior. Haru was confused by his words. And Haru got more confused the more she was thinking about it. Within his head is full of mysteries. Whatever is going on in his head. Haru wanted to know. Though now might not have been the right time. Someday. She'd like to see through him. All of him. Therefore she had to be patient and wait. "By the way… is it really okay for you to go outside?" Haru asked concerned and changed the topic. It's been only two days since she visited him in his apartment when he was sick. She didn't know how his condition was since he insisted that she shouldn't stay too long with him so that she wouldn't catch his cold. So after he ate the dinner she prepared for him we went to bed again and she left. Walking to university in the midst of this rain is surely not that good for his health.
"I'm alright now. Don't worry!" He answered and patted her head. Looking at him with such concerned eyes he got quite nervous while his cheeks reddened even more than before. Having her taking care of him and worrying about him that much made him feel a little too happy and overly conscious. But he shouldn't get his hopes up cause she is someone who is kind to everyone. "I'm totally fine now so…" His hand still rested on her head as he cleared his throat and mumbled. "Thank… you…"
"Huh?" She thought she didn't hear right. He. Gokudera Hayato. Was thanking her? Really? She felt her heart squeezing lightly and her cheeks getting warmer. Hearing him say thank you from that mouth though it seems like a simple thing it made her really happy that she just had to smile brightly. Looking at Gokudera's reddened face she felt like she wanted to tease him. "Repeat that I think I didn't hear that right."
"The hell I would!" He shouted and hid his flustered face.
"Oh come on! Don't be so tsundere*!" Haru insisted and tried to move his hand from his blushing face.
"I am not tsundere!" He shook her off and accelerated his speed causing her to speed up too.
"Geez. Do whatever you like." She giggled at his cute behavior and pinched his cheek as she caught up to him again. "Tsundera!"
"I'm not-" He wanted to retort to that but coming closer to university the two of them were suddenly surrounded by a bunch of squealing girls. Their expressions told them that they were quite displeased with what they saw and they whined.
"Who is that woman!?"
"Hayato-kun, that's so unfair!"
"I want to share an umbrella with you too."
"Next time is me, okay?"
And complained so on. While Haru was trying to hide herself behind the popular storm guardian from the murderous glances of those fan girls he just stood there in front of those pushy girls without getting pushed back. Without a care in the world he declared. "Sorry, only one woman can share an umbrella with me." He grinned at them and pointed at Haru whose body has turend to stone from shock. Saying such things isn't only bad for her heart it's also bad for her health. With that he officially told them that if they wanted to have him they had to get rid of her first. She wondered whether she should say something or not but the glances of the fan girls got even more furious and Haru completely hid behind the back of that dump idiot who made these girls her new enemy. She started to imagine how they'll harass her and make her peaceful university days hell while they continued to complain about her.
"Hee, why?!"
"She doesn't fit with you!"
"She is so plain!"
"What's so good about her?"
"I bet she's blackmailing him!"
"Maybe she's got at s-"
"Don't talk crap about my girlfriend!" He got really mad the more they said about her and shouted at them with eyes that could kill only by looking at someone. "Bet your faces are even uglier under that thick paint you put on." Then he took her hand and went into the building of her faculty as he mumbled. "That's why I hate women." He dragged her to a corner of the building where nobody else was and took a few deep breaths to calm down. "Sorry, about that Haru…" He mumbled and pushed her against a wall. "You're prettier than anyone else the way you are."
"Huh…" Her face soddenly got bright red and hot. Stupid-dera. He was always acting ad he pleased. Never asking for others content. So full of himself and full of confidence that it seemed so egocentrically. It's stupid but sometimes she admired that side of him and sometimes she even thought that this side of him was kinda cool. He was so thick headed but she was too. "Don't worry about that but… since when am I your girlfriend?!" She suddenly asked when she remembered what he said earlier. How can he tell such a lie to them?! That'll make then even angrier. She could already see herself being victim of suicide after getting bullied to death or something like that. Wait… when she's bullied to death she can't do suicide anymore… that doesn't make sense… Whatever! Haru shook her head and sorted her thoughts again to look at him to await his answer.
"When I decide you are then you are." He bluntly said and grinned slyly at her which made her heart thump even faster.
"I haven't approved of it yet." She took a few quick glances to both sides and pondered how she could escape from his kabe-don*. That was really bad for her heart. She felt it beating so hard that it seemed to explode any moment. "S-so m-move!"
"I don't need you approving." He chuckled moving his body even closer to hers. "You seriously are pretty cute, aren't you?" He whispered into her ear and made her shriek out a small embarrassed squeal.
"I am not a thing you can claim to own!" She stuttered and tried to push him further away from her but it was no use since he was so much stronger than her.
"Is that so…" He mumbled and watched her nodding eagerly. Her embarrassed face was just too cute that he couldn't help but tease her a little more. "Then…" Even if he wanted to he couldn't control his body as it moved on its own. "Shall I make you mine?"
"Eh?!" Before she could say a word his rough but warm lips were suddenly touching hers and caused her mind to go blank. She was asking herself what actually happened. If this was real. If she was dreaming. If that was really Gokudera. She wanted to wonder about it but she couldn't really think of anything and her mind was a complete mess.
After he stole a kiss from her he returned her bag and the umbrella to her. "See ya." The kiss-thief grinned at her and went away leaving her baffled as she stared into nothingness.
