A/N:
@16Sakura21: Hahaha. I don't mind you ranting. Keep doing it. Well, kinda. Tsuna will meet the sacrificers. But, no. The three Arco are mature enough to reason why they went for Aria (I mean it's their faults in the first place, why put it on Aria.). But I like your suggestion. I can use it for the next chapter or something. HAHAHA!
@LavaLilly: You'll live. HAHAHAHA!
@acertainpasserby: I love how reasonable you are. HAHAHA! To use the 'trust' thing on them. I can already see Lal, Fon and Verde making guilty faces. Hahaha! But mind you, Belial can't be killed. He's a supreme demon, he'll resurrect like a video game character. But yeah! Let them suffer!
@Hina-cchi: Hahaha! I'm sorry about the cliffhanger. It just feels right putting it there of all places. And yes. The connection that disappeared is their connection to Tsuna's sky aura. Don't worry. I sleep. I promise. It's just that I have so much in my mind that I have to write them and drain them until my head overheats because I can't sleep well when I'm like that. Not recommended but need to do it. But really, no worries, I'll sleep eight hours everyday in the next six days.
@michiko-chan27: Oh my God. You're so awesome. I've been laughing for five minutes. You guessed everything right. I mean, woah! HAHAHA! And yes. Belial has been waiting for the opportunity. When you're negative, that's when the demons creep to you or so they say. Yes, Reborn stayed put because his priority is Tsuna (Reborn is a leech, I tell you). And nope. Their bonds were completely erased when I said the connection disappeared. I like how you wanted to make the three Arcobaleno suffer. HAHAHA! Like they'll feel guilty with Tsuna's indifference. I love it. Hayato will come around. You'll see. Oh, and I rest. I promise you. Just my mind needs to drain the thoughts in there. Can't sleep if it keeps overflowing. And if you want pictures... Hmm... I can't really provide them but I took inspirations in those available pics in google. You'll see similar descriptions of the Arcobaleno in demon forms in there.
So this is the last update of the week. Thank you for the reviews. I love them. Really. Hahaha! You made me smile so much that my mom almost called me crazy. Even my sister tried to pry because I was smiling like an idiot. Hope you like this chapter with its grammar and spelling errors.
Have a good weekends!
Anyway, onwards!
Chapter Fifty-Three
(Day One)
Viper opened his eyes. The other Arcobaleno went attentive on his slight twitch and went depressed when he shook his head.
"No? Nothing? Nada?" Skull persisted.
"No." Viper answered. "Those three weren't there when I searched. The resting room was cold, the large library was in disarray and the living room was flipped over."
"What do you mean?" Verde questioned, intrigued. "Who are these three you're saying?"
Viper blew an air to his bangs. "There are three entities that make up one Tsunayoshi Sawada. Tsu-kun, the foundation, which is composed of all his childhood memories. His domain is the living room where he draws demons and circles and things he understands from the books he had read. Yoshi, the knowledge, that contains all the things he learned from his grandpa to books, even his fighting abilities. A reason why he also wears delinquent attire. Also the teen self of Tsunayoshi with the short hair and studs. His territory is the massive library which was never arranged since Tsunayoshi likes to have random facts crossing his mind. Then Tsuna, the personality and the original. He's the one who we interact and talk to up until recent. He has his own wisdom and decisions. Also the one who gives us choices and the ever dangerous demon of Saint Academy."
"That's..." Colonnello blinked his eyes in surprise. "That's wow. I didn't know Tsuna has something like that."
"It's quite understandable." Verde pipped in as he pushed his glasses in his eyes. "Tsuna has variety of knowledge. He has to separate everything to keep himself sane. They're probably helpers."
"Yes." Viper affirmed to the scientist's theory. "It's the reason why Tsuna held on when the incubus infested him. He couldn't afford losing any of them."
"I just hope they come back immediately." Lal murmured from her spot on the window sill.
They all looked at Tsuna's sleeping form. They're still cringing at the lose of sky aura in their veins. But unlike the blockage, it's more of the bonds didn't exist. There are no lines and their powers were back to the level when they didn't bond with Tsuna. They couldn't even hear each others' thoughts. All the features were flushed out.
After getting Tsuna inside his room, Verde commenced with the check up and let Reborn fix the bruise on the child's neck. The miasma will take time to be removed, along with the depletion of aura he will be suffering. It was rather worrying for them to not feel the sky aura influx in the whole room, but it was still understandable. The hitman also took it to himself to change their Sky's clothes while Fon and Bermuda accompanied the Giglio Nero skies with the Arcobaleno's words of gratitude.
Fon relied Aria's words of apology and askance of forgiveness for doing such troublesome thing. He told them that Yuni suspected that Tsuna being vulnerable with his missing three contracts caused him to be taken away by Belial. Verde, Lal and Fon were quiet about it, feeling guilty and regret for doubting the brunet who was willing to accept them regardless of their faults. They couldn't hate Aria for it too, since they were the ones who accepted her offer to stay in the castle. They were the wrong, not the two skies.
(Reborn wanted to mock them by telling them that it was their own incompetence of not asking what really happened, believing the rumours they heard from biased demons, and went on jumping conclusions. But Skull's sharp gaze made him shut up.)
(Reborn muttered 'Ancient privileges'. Skull retaliated by throwing a pillow on the hitman who dodged fluidly.)
(Right. They promised not to tell anyone what really happen in the balcony. Tsuna keeps promises, so they should too.)
Mammon relied what Yuni said to him. What he thought about the 'borrowing', the three dead sacrificers, Giotto helping Tsuna, and something about Kawahira. He told them that their Sky will wake up in due time. That there might be a surprise visit from Kawahira and they need to stay with Tsuna. Probably two at a time to attend their works since they all knew how the brunet hates it when they neglect their duties for him.
They just hope it won't take long for him to wake up.
(Day Five)
Colonnello hummed as he kneeled in front of the books beside the bed. He took a quick look at Reborn who was sleeping beside Tsuna (Geez. Who knew the hitman was a cuddler?), then to Viper who is meditating after counting the money he earned from all his adventures yesterday. It was a slow day with the three of them on guard while the others do their own missions.
Anyway, he scanned the books and flipped some when he recognized what they contained and inspected those marked ones. His eyes widened when he realized what he was looking at.
"Did he ask you, Kora?" He questioned while raising two of the books.
"Of what?" Reborn mumbled from his spot beside Tsuna.
Viper opened an eye to see what was the Rain pertains. "He was researching about his lineage, huh."
"He did." The hitman affirmed as he wiggled more to get close to Tsuna. "But not the whole thing."
"Well, he really won't." The Mist agrees. "All he needed were confirmations about his theories and his research. Really, he's like a Verde-"
"And you in a mix." The blond butted in with a large teasing grin before sitting at the end of the bed. "He wasn't angry with you for not saying anything, was he? We all knew his connection yet we didn't say anything."
"I said he didn't ask that's why I didn't say anything." Reborn mumbled as he pulled the cover more to cover their necks.
Colonnello stared at the Sun with 'Really' written all over his face while Viper stifled a laughter. "You're the only one who could pull that off."
"I am the greatest after all." The other smirked.
Colonnello rolled his eyes and read the things written on the paper that was placed in the book.
(Day Fifteen)
Skull looked up to see Reborn walk in with his own portal opened. His eyes glimmered in delight when he saw a lot of compiled papers in his sempai's arms. He sat up immediately and took one when the hitman put them on table they set up in the middle of the room. As he skimmed what the content of the paper he snatched was about, Reborn went for Tsuna's side after removing his suit jacket, shoes and fedora. He flopped beside the brunet and hugged the other close.
It has been like this. Reborn remained beside Tsuna, not even disappearing within twelve hours. Nine hours most. He demanded easy hits and no recons. Viper did give what he requested with glee, probably happy that Tsuna won't be alone. And besides, the Sun loves the Sky. Good thing he was thoughtful after he saw the four old essays Skull had in his arms when the latter accompanied him in the room before he went for work.
Like any other days, Kyouya, Hana and Enma visited Tsuna as the day went on, with an additional one which the Arcobaleno knew almost personally, Kensuke Mochida. But since that bully kid went to become a 'friendly' kid, they let him be. Besides, Kyouya will do something before that kid do anything remotely dangerous to their summoner. And Skull genuinely see how worried the kid was. Probably one of those people who got charmed by Tsuna for a long run.
Anyway, the three boys usually clean out Tsuna under the order of Hana. Although the Arcobaleno could do it, the lady still insisted under the pretense of 'the least they could do'. They were pretty explosive when they heard what happened. If Reborn wasn't any possessive, Kyouya would've volunteered to share the bed with the brunet just to be near. It was cute. Tsuna and Kyouya are brothers in arms.
Some teachers wanted to come but they didn't want to intrude knowing there are high demons in the room, so they only sent Nezu-Sensei with a bouquet of assorted flowers that has a 'Please wake up, Tsunayoshi.' note with it. The teacher didn't really talk, just stayed beside Tsuna for a while and visited twice a week instead of everyday. Hana explained that Nezu-sensei couldn't take on the fact that Tsuna got kidnapped by malevolent demons again. He is a favorite after all.
The three higher up tho... They weren't really welcomed since the Arcobaleno saw how stupid they were in handling Tsuna's case, regardless of all the reason they could come up. Fon (oh the ever calm one) only received them by the threshold before slamming the door in their faces (who knew he can be this vicious?). But Reborn opened the door heedlessly like a gentleman he is, but gave an underlying threat, especially to Madam Cara ("Perfect people should just get buried under the ground to sleep peacefully like they always wanted." And Reborn smirked.) who paled after understanding what the hitman means. They didn't even last five minutes before they went out. But Doctor Furikawa and Headmaster Angelo were pretty tolerable and would visit every once a week for assurance that Tsuna is okay.
"Ah. The sky aura is building up." Skull looked up to Fon who walked in. "Reborn is out of it already?"
"Probably missed Tsuna." The Cloud shrugged before offering the Storm an essay. "Here. Let's read them before Reborn hides them away."
Fon chuckled as he took the invitation and sat himself on the swivel chair. "Sure. Happy reading, Skull."
"Likewise." He couldn't help answering with a cheeky smile.
(Day Nineteen)
"Did you move him?" Verde asked, gaining Fon's and Lal's attention.
"No." Reborn answered as he cuddled Tsuna who's snuggling on him.
"You did." Lal deadpanned.
"I didn't." Onyx eyes eyed them. "Wanna bet? I'll surrender the rest of the essays."
"And the diary." Fon added. The hitman glowered that the Chinese demon smiled on. "You can't let that out, Reborn."
"Fine. If he does move without my help, you will give me fifty grands each." The three looked at each other. "That's not much, is it? You get to read my precious essays while I get money."
"You're greedier than Viper." Lal swore.
'To be fair,' The Mist voice rang in their minds. 'we're splitting that money.'
The hitman only smirked.
"You're not here, are you?" Verde voiced, suspicious of foul play as he looked at every corner of the room.
'May I remind you that I'm on mission right now? And even if Reborn asked me to move Tsuna, I won't do it from this distance.' The esper retorted with a small sarcasm.
Fon sighed. "Deal."
"Deal." Lal nodded, sitting straighter.
"Fine. Deal." Verde gave up.
Reborn beckoned them to get closer to the bed. Without much reluctance, Lal and Verde strode near while Fon grimaced as he walked, as if already knowing what will be the result. With how confident Reborn is, they'll never know what will happen. Then the hitman removed the blanket and parted from Tsuna in a meter length. At first, nothing happened. Then the brunet moved.
A hand reached out, slowly patting the Sun's spot before it extended more, wanting to get a hold of something until it touched Reborn's dress shirt. Tsuna pulled a little, whimpering and curling more. The hitman moved closer and wrapped an arm around the cold body before arranging their blanket again. He smirked at the three as Viper's laughter was heard in their minds.
"I'll put it on your account." Verde grumbled after patting down the shock and disbelief in his system.
"At least we now know that Tsuna can move despite the burrowing." Fon said with optimism.
"It is an interesting theory. I thought humans in coma do not move except if they're about to wake up. But Tsunayoshi's case is different."
"Really interesting." Fon agrees.
"Yeah. And I lost fifty grand." Lal scowled. "Never again."
Reborn snorted. "You always do."
"Why you-"
(Day Twenty-Six)
"Why isn't he waking up?" Hana grumbled under her breath.
"W-We have to be patient, Hana." Enma tried to placate, a small wryly smile on his lips. "It's probably aura depletion. It has all the signs."
Hana made a face. "You're right. I don't even know if Tsuna recovered already with all the sky aura fluctuating and covering the whole room."
"He isn't one to get drained anyway." Enma mused as he stared at his brunet friend. "I wish he'll wake up soon. The academy is too quiet when he's not present."
"Argh." Hana groaned miserably, head falling to her hands. "Please don't remind me of that excruciating three months. It's stifling and stupid. I cannot bear not having Tsuna with me. Monkey breaks are so nice."
Enma gave a nervous laugh.
"I bet Kyouya is a monkey too?" Fon queried from the essay he exchanged with Bermuda.
"Tolerable." The Night and the lady chorused. The two looked at each other.
"Right. You know because you hang around with us." Hana nodded with a smirk. "I bet it was entertaining to see Tsuna beat the hell out of those bullies in close range. He never let me in close saying he might fling one of them on my direction and get me hurt-"
"Causing more damage on the body that hurt you because he's going to beat it more for being rude to a lady." Bermuda continued on before giving a small smile. "Yes. It was fun. He does have morbid fascination too, that a lot of us had to stop for the sake of his own sanity."
Fon chuckled. "His sanity? Not theirs?"
"Who need theirs?" Enma, Hana and Bermuda questioned before giving out smiles to each other.
"I'm starting to think that Tsuna is not a good influence to any of you." Reborn commented as he stepped in the room from his portal. "I'm transferring the espresso machine here, who wants coffee?"
Hands were raised.
"And make coffee?"
Hana rolled her eyes. "Just get those beans and that machine here."
The hitman's smirk widened.
(Day Thirty-Three)
Fon and Kyouya stared at each other.
Skull looked back and forth between the two before snickering and focusing on the essay he was reading.
Reborn snuggled on Tsuna who snugged back.
(Day Forty-Eight)
Verde and Viper glanced at each other before nodding.
"You're saying that Tsuna is about to die." Reborn deadpanned.
"Yes. If his sky aura builds on dangerous level." Verde answered sagely. "You presented the same problem months ago, Reborn. It is one of the reasons why we're his summons. But the thing now is there are no lines connecting us nine for us to use his aura as a booster for anything we do."
"I didn't even knew he can recover in such a short period." Viper admitted with resignation. "It mostly took months for humans to recover from aura depletion. It's probably his bloodline."
Reborn glanced to their human while caressing the latter's hand. "What can we do?"
"I don't really know." Verde grimaced. "I've searched yesterday but still none."
"I'll try asking Aria or Byakuran." Viper supplied. "They'll be willing to give their inputs if it's a fellow sky."
(Day Forty-Nine)
The two skies of Noerim and Mios were slumped of such circumstances. Viper went home with a depressed air. Yuni wished she could help.
Kawahira was watching, thinking and making decisions.
(Day Fifty)
Kawahira put a ribbon on the orange pacifier before carefully and loosely tying it around Tsuna's neck. The sky aura influx in the room immediately got absorbed by the pacifier, making it lit for a moment before it died down. Kawahira smiled in relief before patting the kid on his mane.
"I'll give you the others." He parted.
"Thanks... Ji-san..." Tsuna murmured.
The immortal could only chuckle quietly. He doesn't want to wake up the sleeping hitman with noise in the middle of the night, does he?
(Day Fifty-One)
"What the hell." Reborn uttered in disbelief.
He stared at the softly glowing orange pacifier placed in the space between them. There's even a ribbon looped on it and tied around Tsuna's neck. He checked the room for any sky aura. There are lingering aura in the air. So where did the heavy flow went?
Of course. In the pacifier.
He closed his eyes and scooted closer to the brunet. "Nope. Too early for this."
(Day Fifty-Seven)
Colonnello looked up when he noticed Reborn freezing. He got up with Skull and Bermuda to see what made the relaxed hitman go shock. He went for the bed and peeked over the curled brunet, only to gape too.
There are nine pacifiers cradled by their Sky, including Tsuna's orange one that Reborn discovered six days ago. There's even a black one for Bermuda. The four of them looked at each other in question. Just how the heck did Kawahira slipped in and out without alerting Reborn on the first slip, and Viper and Lal on this second entry?
They looked down again when they felt Tsuna's sky aura pulsing from the pacifier. The other pacifiers responded with pulse before four of them disappeared and the remaining four, except for Tsuna's, went to their respective owners. Colonnello grasped his but didn't squeeze it to get his reserves. He caught Reborn staring at the yellow pacifier before he materialized a ribbon and wore it like he's a proud damn baby.
Yeah. He'll keep it and break it when he needs it.
(Day Sixty-One)
"Heh." Sloth mused as he stepped out of the portal. "The Human world became uglier."
"I cannot agree with you more." Envy seconded as she looked around the campus.
"I want this place." Greed said out loud. "Everything is beautiful- Oh! Oh! Gluttony! There are humans! A lot of humans! Beautiful human!"
Saliva dripped from skinny Gluttony's mouth as he stared at the humans playing and lounging on the field just below them. "I want to take them all."
"Sa... Why don't we have fun first before we search for the human sky?" Greed suggested while rubbing his hands together, looking excited and jumpy.
"Yes. But dibs on the first one to spot him though." Sloth drawled as he started descending to the ground. "It's so nice Lust and Pride aren't here. No one will nag about something like this and that."
"Hmm..." Envy patted Gluttony's head. "See you later."
And they scattered.
