A/N:
@michiko-chan27: Nope. Hahaha. The supreme demons aren't from the canons. Even Belial isn't, so I stuck to that idea. Damn. It's good Kyouya made you cry. I was rooting for Hana though. Haha. Oh. You'll see how it will end. I'm fingers crossing that you'll like it. And I did it. I finished writing the omake you requested for four straight days. I couldn't sleep without thinking how will I write it. And it's honestly interesting to write IraxTsuna. I didn't expect how it turned out. It's very out of character. Just wait till we reach epilogue. I'll post all four omakes. I promise.
Thanks for the reviews! This is the first update of the week.
Declaimer: I do not own KHR nor Safe and Sound by Taylor Swift. Just saying.
Anyway, go on. Don't mind me.
Chapter Sixty-One
Colonnello glanced at Tsuna who had his head cradled in his hands. He looked at Skull who was lounging a step behind the brunet. The Cloud is clearly worried too. Then his blue eyes shifted to Kawahira who is floating beside their Sky. The immortal's face is purely blank, watching the literal sky with a thoughtful gaze. Then he went for Ira who has his body leaning on the closed door of the house, awake but brooding about something.
The Rain can't help himself from sighing. It's already late afternoon, nearing twilight. A time that gives of a forbidding feeling. It's been several hours since the last updates of the other Arcobaleno who had felt the Sins appear in their respective vicinity. Tsuna had told them to mask their auras as much as possible to put an element of surprise in their mission, and since then, there was no news. They don't even know if they're already fighting them or something. He had told the brunet to rest but the latter doesn't want to, not unless all people involved in the war rest too.
Or maybe, Tsuna does know that his summons are fighting the Sins and just not talking about it. Who knows.
His eyes wandered again until he met Wrath's red ones. He glanced at Tsuna then back to Wrath. The Sin gave him a questioning gaze and looked at Skull who was watching their interaction. The Cloud grimaced and pointed at Tsuna before doing a frown. Wrath made an 'o' with his mouth then nodded. Colonnello signed for the two to look at him. When they did, he patted his heart with the other hand doing a descending motion. Wrath and Skull glanced at each other before the former made an 'okay' sign and stood up to do what he's planning. Kawahira just watched them at the corner of his eyes, clearly amused with their silent conversation.
"Tuna?" Wrath called out weakly, causing the brunet to jerk up and look back to the Sin. "Are you okay?"
"Yes, I am. And it's Tsuna." The sky responded immediately, causing Wrath to snicker a little, before his expression went back to being worried. "I should be asking that to you though. Did you got your strength back? No more weak limbs?"
Colonnello mused how the Sin relied on Tsuna when they ushered him inside the house to eat up. He was so shaky that he kept stumbling down. And to think that he was far taller than the brunet even if he looked like a teen.
"No. But I'm sleepy." The Sin mumbled. Skull's eyes widened and mouthed 'slick' that made Kawahira smirk and Colonnello snort silently. "Can I lean on you?"
"Sure." Tsuna nodded as he pats the space on his left.
"I call the right side!" Skull hollered as he went down beside Tsuna as Wrath sat and leaned on the human's shoulder. "Man. I'm beat."
"It's not like you did anything." Colonnello snorted, earning a glare from the stuntman. "What?!"
"Sing for me." Wrath suddenly suggested before going two more steps down and propped his head on the brunet's lap.
Tsuna laughed nervously while patting the Sin's head. "I don't know how to sing, Ira."
"I careless if your voice broke or its screechy." The Sin waved off as he laid on his back, head still on their Sky's lap. "I just want to hear you sing for me."
Colonnello grinned at how smooth Wrath's words were. "Careful now. You wouldn't want to try taking Reborn's place in Tsuna's heart. He's pretty possessive of Tsuna."
"What? I can't sweet talk my brother now?" Wrath questioned before pouting at the brunet. "Please."
"Fine." Tsuna relented. "Any song is alright?"
"Yup. Any song. Be it a death march, I don't mind." The Sin responded immediately, excited and happy.
"What about you, Colonnello? Skull? Kawahira-oji?" The brunet questioned, asking permission.
"I don't mind." The Rain shrugged. "Just make those two sleep already."
"Do as you please, Tsunayoshi." Kawahira gave way.
Colonnello watched as the young man hummed thoughtfully while patting Wrath's hair and sporting Skull's weight. Then slowly, his hum went for a slow direction. Something like a lullaby with eerily calming tone. He felt himself relax and leaned on the wall of the house as Tsuna opened his lips.
"I remember tears streaming down your face when I said, I'll never let you go." Tsuna sang softly.
Melodious and heart wrenching, almost making Colonnello cry with how he sang the line.
"When all those shadows almost killed your light."
Viper let out a cry as some of the men sent by the World Society got swept by Lust's demons. The Sin cackled loudly in glee, eyes watching her demons suck the life out of every humans they see.
"I remember you said, don't leave me here alone."
Aria pushed a human wearing sunglasses and fur collared black leather jacket away from the rain drop. She hissed when Sloth only waved his hand, looking bored and uninterested. He has been asking Tsunayoshi's whereabouts, expressing how he wants the human as his slave to keep close. And with all honesty, Aria felt disgusted with Sloth's desire.
"Oh my. That was so close." The man she pulled out of the way commented flamboyantly. "Thank you, dear."
"No problem." She smiled.
"Oi Trash! Get up!" Xanxus, from what she had heard, yelled from his spot, shooting Sloth with sky-storm covered bullets. "Get the hell out of that fucking spot before I fucking shoot you!"
"That's boss's way of saying get out of the way before Sloth attacks us again." The man chirped while helping her stand. "We need to restrain him though."
"Voi! Isn't that fucking obvious?!" A man with long silver hair shouted from his place, countering a rain drop with his own rain aura. "We need to fucking see his weakness!"
Aria nodded. "Yes. But does such thing exist?"
They got silent as they evade insulting attacks from the Sin.
"But all that's dead and gone and passed tonight."
"Watch out!"
Verde watched as the human who saved him got caught by a death vines. The human smiled at him and gave a thumbs up before he disintegrated completely. Lal shouted for him to get up. He did.
With hands clenched in tightly, he vowed to make Envy pay for all the lives she took.
"Just close your eyes, the sun is going down."
Fon eyed the lightning that almost hit him if he didn't move on time. His eyes drifted to where Gluttony was, sitting in a small pile of cooked human while eating a head. The carnage is so revolting that he had tried incinerating every pile the Sin makes and instructed Bermuda to remove all humans in the vicinity.
"This is not looking good, Fon." Bermuda said, wincing as he redirected a powerful lightning attack to the owner who tipped to the side to avoid his own attack.
"We'll make it through." He opined positively, almost through his teeth. He's more likely convincing himself.
"I want that human sky!" Gluttony sang, that put a tick on the Storm's temple.
The Sin let out a cry of rage and horror when his pile of 'food' slowly decomposed in front of his eyes.
"You'll be alright. No one can hurt you now."
'What a mess.' Byakuran gravely said to himself as he stared at the scene below him.
It wasn't figurative since everything was truly on fire. Half of the World Society headquarters have been wiped out after Greed made a big sun bomb. The Sin was trying to kill all of them for taking his trophy away. A lot didn't survive, the rain guardian of Timoteo de Vongola included. Fighting Greed was like fighting Reborn, the sun arcobaleno. All you could do is rely on long range battle weapons and never try to get close enough to get the blunt attacks.
"Timoteo!" Byakuran looked down to the leader of World Society, who keeled, panting in exhaustion and pain. Right. He was burned.
"I am fine, Coyote." The old human assured, eyes trained on the Sin they need to subdue. "Focus on the target. We cannot miss a chance of retaliation."
Byakuran hummed as he swooped down and flapped his wings on Greed to attack him with his own version of bombs. Sky bombs are equally terrifying. Especially when they burn relentlessly.
"Come morning light,"
Reborn tugged the brim of his fedora down before he gave Pride a heavy down kick. The fucker blocked it with his both hands, but the hitman isn't done yet. With the use of his gun, he pointed it at the Sin's stomach and pulled the trigger. The copycat recoiled with the sun aura coated bullet embodying itself to his being.
The hitman smirked, humming under his breathe, in tune with his Sky's own crooning. Nope. He's not blocked from his Sky's mind. After all, it's hard for the brunet to hide his thoughts to the hitman even if he tried his hardest to do so.
'Rely the damn song to the others, Subnormal.' He said mentally to Colonnello before raising his guns to the sky and grinned evilly to the battered Sin. "Tragedy."
"Bastard." Colonnello muttered under his breath, pertaining to Reborn, then opened his mind for the others just as Tsuna uttered the last line of the chorus.
"You and I'll be safe and sound." The brunet sang softly, eyes closing as he hummed while running his fingers through the contented Wrath's hair.
The Arcobaleno perked up at the humming they can hear in their minds.
"Don't you dare look out your window, darling. Everything's on fire."
Verde's eyes widened when he heard the line Tsunayoshi sang in his mind. No. It's not because the brunet has a good voice (with all honesty, that was part of it. Why didn't the young man tell them that he can sing is beyond frustrating for him by now. Who the heck exposes his talents in the middle of a war? Tsunayoshi Sawada does). It's because of the word 'window'. He just remembered the only way for the Sins' to weaken because of their little Sky!
"Viper!" He shouted.
"The war outside our door keeps raging on."
'All available colors of the sky in every battle area.'
All froze when they heard a voice inside their heads. Some even almost got killed from the process. It was almost comical to see men scream in shock and dodge in the funniest, almost awkward way a person could.
'Verde has found the solution to weaken the Sins. Be it a touch, brush or any method that can be used as long as all existing eight auras are injected on the Sins you are facing.'
"That easy?!" Dino shouted in surprise before yelping as he used his weapon, a whip, to tie it around a pole and heave himself off the ground when Sloth tried to flood them to death. "Fucking bastard."
'Easy. But do not underestimate such method. It has no official probability of survival if you aren't an experienced fighter, in accordance to Verde's calculation.'
"It is settled then." Visconti remarked as he flexed his muscles. "Ready your cane and your wings, Timoteo, Byakuran."
"Yes." Both leaders replied.
'Be careful. The Sky wishes you all safety.'
"Such a sweetheart our friend is, Nagi." Mukuro marvelled as a vine appeared behind a demon who was starting to suck the life out of a human. "Tsunayoshi will never cease to amaze me."
Nagi watched as the vine gripped the demon's neck and started to smack his head on the ground until the head cracked and it got banished to Fiant. "He never will."
"Good, you're here." Viper sighed before eyeing Mukuro's vines that were approaching Lust in a speed. "That won't work."
"Of course." The man owl chuckled, eyes going for the kanji of four. "But he can."
Viper smirked when Lust shouted in pain when one Kyouya Hibari smashed a cloud aura covered tonfa on the Sin's face before leaping back to gain distance. So the vines were just for distraction? Good plan.
"For destroying school property, taking human lives and harassing Tsunayoshi Sawada, I will bite you to death." The demon prefect of Saint Academy growled before pouncing again.
"Hold on to this lullaby."
Envy screeched when storm aura disintegrated her death vines. Verde smirked when he saw an open portal on the side. Another opened by the sky and he let a set of thunder go inside. Lal took advantage of the Sin's panic and sent a barrage of bullets with mist and rain on them towards the latter.
Just then, the Sin almost got slumped forward when she acted like she got hit from behind. When he looked around a little, a portal was open with Reborn in there, a gun pointed at Envy. Inside the portal, he can see Pride dancing under a rain of bullets. Not the typical 'Mayhem' then. It's the Tragedy. Reborn was always the crazy one, naming his attacks with chaos related synonyms, which was fitting since his guns and bullets were chaos bringer.
'I can pull Mayhem on her.' The hitman suggested as he cocked his gun.
"No. We got these." He refused as he put a hand on the ground and sent a wave of electricity on Envy. He immediately retrieved his hands as the Sin cried in pain and put a knee on the ground out of exhaustion. "Oho."
"We need a cloud, a night and a sky!" Lal shouted from her position.
'I have a massive cloud here.' Viper told them in their link just as a portal opened above Envy and a stick (he can already hear Tsunayoshi shouting 'tonfa' to correct his term) coated with cloud aura went boomeranging down the portal and hit the Sin square on the head. Before bouncing towards the death vines. 'Ops. There goes the tonfa.'
'Does Kyouya has a spare?' Fon queried, humouring the child who looks so much like him. Carbon copy even, except for some features.
'Of course. The kid has infinite arsenal of tonfas in his being according to Chrome.' The Mist answered with a matter-of-fact tone. 'One sky incoming.'
Verde stared as a sky-storm bullet went whistling down the same portal and hit Envy's shoulder, causing her to cry in pain. Then a chain with night aura suddenly wrapped itself on the Sin, causing the latter to fall asleep.
"One down, five more to go." Lal grinned.
But Verde only kept an ear out for her. He closed his eyes while facing the nearing darkened sky as he listened to Tsuna's song.
"Even when the music's gone..."
Fon smirked when a storm of lightning rained down on Gluttony. It was a pretty sight when the first shard hit him that gave enough startle, before he went away to dodge. Bad choice since his little 'feast' got so burned that the bodies became coals.
The storm arcobaleno grinned wickedly as he readied himself for a self-catapult with his aura as a leverage. Just as Gluttony was about to touch the ground, he launched himself, coated his whole being with a thick storm aura and planted his hands on the Sin's shoulders. The demon shouted in pour agony, body spasming with too much storm aura entering his body.
He leapt back when a sky coated whip from a portal on his right smacked itself on the still spasming Gluttony's face. Fon laughed outright before mist knives from Viper fell from the sky and pinned themselves on the Sin who was still out of it. He was joined by Reborn, who was watching from the portal opened on his side, before the hitman pulled the trigger of his gun that was pointed upward. Tragedy came down with a sunny vengeance.
"You're one sadistic demon, Fon." Lal remarked from her own window as she pulled her own attack on the Sin who stopped spasming from all the bullets falling on him.
The Storm shrugged with a shy smile. "You're not the only ones permitted to have their own twisted fun."
'I'm afraid you and Reborn have corrupted Fon too far, Lal.' Viper commented as a cloud coated shoe hit Gluttony in the head.
"What the fuck?!" Lal, who watched the shoe bounce into a small warp after doing its duty, shouted in incredulity.
'That was Kyouya. He stole Mukuro's shoe after the latter taunted him again.' Their Mist sighed. He sounded tired and exasperated and irritated. 'I cannot see how Tsuna was able to stand these two. They're fighting each other and fighting Lust at the same time.'
"And done." Fon looked back to Bermuda who subdued the Sin with his night chain. "Four more to go."
"You okay, Bermuda? You have been opening the portal for all six places." He asked.
"I'm fine." The Night replied. "It's Tsuna I'm worried about. I hope I'm not draining him."
"We're all using his aura except for Colonnello and Skull." Verde informed from the other portal. The Lightning gestured them to come.
Fon watched as Bermuda put a warp under Gluttony to place him a meter away from Envy. Sighing in accomplishment, he focused on Tsuna's humming.
"Gone..."
"Xanxus! I'll restrain him with my whip then you shot him with your bullets!" Dino shouted from his perch.
Aria watched as a murderous Xanxus de Vongola cocked his two guns and started to shoot Sloth with so much enthusiasm that he even tried to shoot his own men after Dino Cavallone restrained the latter with his sky coated whip. Squalo, the long silver haired man, shouted an indignant 'Voi' when a bullet almost nicked him on the right shoulder. Belphegor, a blond young man, laughed as he threw his blade anywhere, although some were thrown on purpose to Fran's direction for taunting him. Leviathan kept his umbrellas in the air, ready to strike.
Aria looked up to Lussuria, who was crying on her side, trying to keep her wound from bleeding too much with his own sun aura. She gripped Gamma's limp hand before smiling at the human. It wasn't Varia's fault that she stood on the line of fire to save a World Society man. She was useless as she can't defend herself. But to see Gamma, her precious husband, sacrifice himself for her was enough to break everything.
"T-Tsunayoshi wanted t-to change t-the world." She mentioned as she stared at the dark sky. "I-I thought i-it was a-an impossible d-dream, but w-with him as t-the m-maker, I-I think it w-will come t-true."
"Aria." Lussuria whispered.
"T-Tell him I-I wanted t-to live t-the s-same way. M-Meet m-my mother, m-marry ma-my Gamma and h-have my Yuni." With a sweet smile and a tear cascading from her eyes, she said. "Thank y-you for trying t-to save a-a demon l-like me. W-We'll see e-each o-other in the n-new world, L-Lussuria."
Slowly, she closed her eyes. She could hear Lussuria saying her name and the shouts of Dino with the Varia, but all she could feel was the warmth of another sky aura engulfing her. With a final breathe, she thought:
'Thank you, Tsunayoshi Sawada.'
"Just close your eyes, the sun is going down."
Byakuran stared at Greed's prone form. With the help of the night arcobaleno, the Sin had been subdued with chains and placed meters away from the two other Sins. His eyes drifted to his comrades.
Timoteo was being propped by Ganauche to at least sit. He wasn't breathing properly after doing a full blast on Greed. Byakuran even helped with the attack but it still pulled too much sky aura from them. What pains him the most was the fact that they lost too much.
The World Society leader, Timoteo de Vongola, lost a rain, a cloud and a sun. All because of Greed. With the same instance, he also lost a storm, a mist and a lightning. He could only sigh while remembering how Zakuro disappeared. And now, even Aria was gone. Yuni is the only one left and managing Noerim with the best of her abilities.
Too much sacrifices. Too much deaths. Too much of everything.
He leaned back to Kikyo's back as he patted Bluebell's hair on his laps. Daisy is leaning on him from his right. They're all exhausted and hurt. All they want is to rest.
"Na, Kikyo." He called. He was responded by a weak grunt. He snickered. "If the making of Tsunayoshi's new world really become successful, I want to meet you again. All of you. Have fun, make a fool of ourselves, make you my elements again. Maybe take over the world while we're at it?"
Bluebell sobbed before giggling. "Sounds like a plan, Byakuran-sama."
"I agree." Daisy said with a small smile.
"You must find me first, Byakuran-sama." Kikyo grunted as he rested his head on his sky's shoulder. "I want to be the first person to see you and meet you and follow you."
"Yes." Byakuran breathed as he closed his eyes. "I will."
"You'll be alright. No one can hurt you now."
"That was pretty extreme." Ryohei commented as he stared at the chained form of Lust. "Why is she even here?"
"She attacked the academy, what else?" Hana snapped while putting a hand on her bleeding side. "Damn. Tsuna will kill me if he gets a hold of this."
"Let me heal you, Hana-chan." Kyoko offered as she kneeled down beside her summoner. "Good job."
"Same to you." The noirette sighed before looking at him. "How's everyone?"
Viper sighed. "Out of six Sins, Pride is the only one who hadn't been defeated. Reborn is having fun tormenting him."
"What for?" Enma piped in. He was the sky who was able to give the finishing blow on Lust before the chain was put on her.
"He's in Namimori." Six pairs of eyes narrowed dangerously at his simple response. "He wanted to finish what he started. Reborn took caution since Tsuna's family is in there and the whole town is there. We don't want that place get destroyed. It's where Tsuna got nurtured as himself and the last place Ietsuna was."
Mochida blew raspberries. He's the contributor of storm aura that scared shitless on Lust. The Sin now hates storm flames because Wrath always kills her. "If he's there, then those two will surely come."
"Those who?" Hana questioned.
"Takeshi Yamamoto and his summon Hayato Gokudera." Kyouya supplied while leaning on a pillar. Always the indifferent one even if he's already exhausted. "Those two won't pass a fight, especially if it will earn Tsunayoshi's forgiveness."
A click sounded in Viper's mind. "Ah. Yes. That storm summon called Tsuna a murderer for doing thirty casualties on Namimori."
"What?!" Most of them shouted in disbelief.
"Who the fuck that punk is?!" Mochida exclaimed in anger. "I might be a bully and part of the crowd that almost pulled Takeshi to do a suicide but I did not do such extreme accusation! Tsuna was the one who saved the town! Pride attacked with his underlings because he was jealous of the Arcobaleno for gaining their own sky!"
"Correction. He was scared to be put in a sleep again." Hana piped in, brown eyes glinting dangerously. "Wait till I get my hands on that Sin's neck. I'll wring him apart."
"I'll help you with that." Enma volunteered with a determined nod.
"Ah. You're assembled." They all looked at Lal who motioned them to get inside the open portal. "Come on, brats."
They all stood up sluggishly and strode towards the warp.
"Did you get your shoe, Mukuro?" The Mist-rain questioned 'innocently'.
Nagi and Viper laughed at what Lal asked while Kyouya smirked. Mukuro 'kufufu'-ed dangerously before waving off a hand. The others only shook their head at them.
"Come morning light,"
Reborn watched the two bicker at the side. They had been at it for the past forty-five minutes. Ever since they joined him on defeating Pride. Takeshi Yamamoto gave a laugh as his summon fuzzed around him, trying to see what kind of injury he got after getting thrown away by a good wave of mist aura. That was the last retaliation of Pride before Gokudera blew up and started to attack the Sin with ferocity and possessiveness. It really impressed him though.
With all honesty, they took him by surprise. They just suddenly appeared behind Pride and started to give the Sin a round of hard time while trying to evade his homing bullets at the same time. He could've done something more insulting, but he refused to do so. Having Pride's face get smacked on the dirt by a human was already enough wound on the Sin. That was already the second time a human kicked his ass.
Reborn could only snicker at the thought of Pride facing Kyouya and the mist twins. Lust had been screaming her head off when those three made their appearance. Too bad he requested 'private' audience to the 'aristocrat'.
(He can already hear Tsuna, Bermuda and Mukuro snorting in dismissal of such title bestowed on Pride.)
Ah right. Yamamoto and Gokudera. Both have good amount of aura in them that go just below Arcobaleno level. If Takeshi was only stronger and a mixed demon, he could've been the second coming of Tsuna, rain aura style.
Reborn eyed the portal that opened on his side. He collared the Sin's shirt and started to drag the latter to the warp where almost all of the people, demons and humans, have assembled. Before he entered though, he looked back to the two who were still on an one sided argument.
"Are you two coming?" He asked, making the two pause.
Yamamoto shook his head with a sheepish smile. "Can't. We sneaked out. Oyaji will kill us if he figured out that we joined the fun."
"Idiot." Gokudera muttered under his breath before looking at him straight in the eyes. "Tell Sawada that I'm sorry. I know it's late and it almost killed him but I still want to apologize. It was wrong of me to accuse him of such thing."
Reborn stared at the two before tipping his hat down in farewell. "See you in the next life."
"See you!" Yamamoto bid as well.
"Yeah." Gokudera nodded.
Reborn turned to the warp and entered it. "Ah." He blurted as he walked towards his friends. "I need to praise Tsuna with his singing voice."
"You and I'll be safe and sound." Tsuna continued on before looking up to the night sky, humming the melody.
Like what Yuni had seen in her vision, there is a full moon on the day of the battles. He wondered if his summons were alright. If the World Society is still intact. If Gesso and Giglio Nero are well. He sighed, earning Colonnello's and Kawahira's attentions.
He looked down on Ira's sleeping form. The Sin is so peaceful. A human who died and turned to be a powerful demon for the sake of his own kind of justice that he took in his hands. He peered at Skull, who is sleeping with a smile. A demon who hid behind a mask for the sake of his age and experiences.
Humans.
Demons.
Will his world be peaceful like he deemed it to be? Closing his eyes, he hummed the last tune before opening his mouth to say the last words of the song.
"You and I'll be safe and sound..."
Silence.
"Tsunayoshi."
"Hmm..."
"It's time."
Orange eyes revealed themselves. "Alright."
