An: I had a lot of reviews and I want to fulfill the ones who had issues with the story and one review said I need to add background as to why she left, and that Kagome did not put up a fight like she would typically. I do want to write her feistier. So, with that in mind I will be making adjustments to her in the upcoming chapters, which there will be!

~~~The Beginning~~~
"InuYasha watch out!" Kikyo said before she jumped in front of Naraka's miasma arm. InuYasha turned to see the miasma arm receding from Kikyo's body. All that was left was a gaping hole. He ran as fast as he could to reach her before she fell onto the forest floor. " K-Kikyo please don't leave me. Kikyo don't you dare die on me! I need you! Please..." InuYasha voice broke as he looked into the lifeless eyes of his lover, tears streaming down his face to land on his fire-rat robe and the moss that cradled his and Kikyo's forms." Kami don't take her from me again! I need her, she loves me, and I need her! DAMN IT! DON'T YOU LEAVE ME KIKYO!" His form was shaking from grief as his love died on him once again. Sango ran to cover him while he had his time with his dead lover. His body was shaking from the amount of emotion he was feeling. His eyes started to bleed red once she started to disintegrate in his arms. " I promised to protect you, not the other way around." His voice barley a whisper. When all that was left were her miko garbs, InuYasha lost control and all hell broke loose.
Everybody was saddened by Kikyos death. She had turned out to be a really good person, only on the wrong side. Her and Kagome had a lot of laughs at some witty jokes that Kagome had told. She really warmed up to the group and Kagome had found a way to bring her back to life without using other souls. All she had to do was become a demon or hanyous mate and they had the ability to transform them to be the same type of demon or stay a human. InuYasha instantly agreed but Kikyo wanted to wait until after the final battle with Naraku. It would have been a great way to start the rest of their lives. Naraku free and herself being alive again.
InuYashas' eyes were completely red; his beast was taking controlling of him. He pulled out tenseiga and lashed out a great deal of wind scars. With his beast in control the power increased and became more dangerous. He was killing demons by the groups. Miroku and Sango had teamed up riding Kirara and started attacking the demons that could fly. Kagome Stayed on the forest floor killing the lesser demons. Sesshomaru stayed near her to watch over her, while also killing the stronger demons that came her way. He was not going to mention that he had feeling for her yet. Sesshomaru wanted to wait until after Naraku was defeated.
Kagome, Sango and Miroku all had cuts everywhere on their body. Their clothes had tears in them where the demons had used their claws. One demon had been lucky enough to strike Kagome. He had come up to her from behind using the element of surprise. He jumped in front of her and raised his green hand and brought it down hard on her face. She fell to the ground from the impact. 'Damn, that is going to leave a scar' Kagome thought holding a hand to her now bleeding eyebrow. Before the creature knew it, Sesshomaru was in front of him with his weapon drawn. Sesshomaru wanted to torture him, but there were still many demons that needed to be taken care of. He used his acid whip to dissolve the demon where he stood. He looked down at the raven haired miko her eyes were wide and spoke volumes, but he could see the thankfulness in them. Surprising Kagome, he held out his hand for her to take. She did not hesitate to take it. "Thank you Sesshomaru-Sama" Kagome replied with a bright smile. " Sesshomaru. This one believes that we have moved past the titles." With that he walked away killing some of the last of Naraka's minions. Kagome stood there, frozen and looking dumbstruck. Then she blushed and looked to the grassy floor.
It was a few hours later and they stood facing Naraku. InuYasha had destroyed his barrier and weakened him greatly. All that was left to do it purify him. Kagome stood there with her bow and arrow ready to let it fly. She wanted everybody to savor this moment, for it was the moment that they rid this world of a great evil. Kagome felt relief once she let the arrow go. With Naraku being weakened as he is, he could not dodge the arrow fast enough. It pierced his heart purifying him instantly.
Kagome walked over and picked up the now completed Shikon Jewel. Quickly she made an unselfish wish on it. "I wish for a world where demons and humans would coexist." A pink light engulfed Kagome.
Midoriko stood before Kagome. "Thank you for setting me free." Kagome nodded tears filling her eyes. " Why do you cry miko Kagome?" Kagome smiled and said " What happens now that the jewel is complete? " Midoriko understanding shook her head and pulled Kagome in for a hug " Silly child you have set me free, defeated the evilest being, gone through the most horrible heart ache, and been pulled away from your family more times than anybody can count." Midoriko smiled and continued." I will grant you complete use of the well, you are to use it as often as you wish. "Kagome felt the tears come-on stronger and pulled Midoriko tighter against her. "Thank you so much! You have no idea what that means to me!" With one more goodbye from Midoriko, everything went dark.
All of a sudden Kagome was back at the battlefield, then she was encased in a group hug from her friends. Including Kikyo, Kanna, Kagura, and Kohaku the peoples whose lives were saved with the destruction of Naraku. Kanna and Kagura left after the group hug to make a life for themselves.
A few days later the group was working around Edo. Miroku, InuYasha and other males of the village were going around fixing up the huts that needed it. Kohaku and Sango decided to stay in Edo where all their friends were. Sango, Kohaku and Miroku talked about moving to the slayers village and rebuilding it once her and Miroku got married. Sango wanted nothing more than to start her family where she was born and raised. Kagome and Rin, who was staying with them to learn the ways of humans, were around helping Kaede. Kagome and Kaede were teaching Rin the ways of herbs and medicine.
Sesshomaru left independently after the battle. He did stop in the village a few hours after everyone returned to see how his ward was doing, and though he will not admit it, to see how the miko was faring after the battle. The girl had been attacked right under his nose. She was fully capable of defending herself, but he had been so angry that one of those creatures Naraku created was able to close to the object of his desire and even managed to get a hit in. He landed in the small village and approached the hut everyone was in.
"Oy, Rin you gotta visitor!" InuYasha said while stuffing his mouth with noodles. Rin jumped out of her seated position that was in between Kagome and Shippo and ran out the hut. "Sesshomaru-Sama! Rin has missed you. Miss Kaede and momma Kagome told Rin that they will be teaching me about medicines! Shippo has been working to get better at his magic! InuYasha and Kikyo are going to mate tonight, Sesshomaru-sama what does mate mean? Kohaku has been really nice to Rin…" Rin was babbling on and on about what has happened in the last few hours! There was a cough behind the little girl that caused her to cease talking. "Momma Kagome! Rin was just telling Sesshomaru-sama about what has happened today!" Kagome had walked out of the hut soon after Rin had run out. She had stood just outside the door opening leaning up against the frame. Her arms were crossed casually across her chest as she listened to Rim tell Sesshomaru what has happened in the past few hours in a few seconds. Sesshomaru did not fail to notice that his ward considered the miko as her mother. 'I cannot wait for the miko to bear my pups'.
"I see that Rin, but you need to breathe and let Sesshomaru-sama settle down before you try to ambush him with everything that has happened since we have been back." Kagome smiled as she watched the little girl try to catch her breath. Kagome looked to the very handsome Daiyoukai that was standing in front of her. She couldn't help but blush, their last interaction still fresh in her mind. "Sesshomaru-sama would you like to come in for some tea?" Kagome offered him a welcoming smile. "Please come in Sesshomaru-sama! Momma Kagome makes the best tea, and we have noodles that she brought from her time. Momma Kagome is so wonderful, Rin wants her to stay by my side forever" Rin looked up admirably at Kagome. Kagome smiled at Rin, "I will by your side for however long you want me there." Rin ran up to Kagome and hugged her torso as tight as she could muster. They both looked towards Sesshomaru awaiting his answer. "This Sesshomaru would enjoy a cup of tea." And with that he started walking towards the entryway. He stopped before entering, "Miko I told you that you do not need to address me so formally."
Everyone was having a laugh sitting around the fire. Kagome held a sleeping Rin in her lap with an equally asleep Shippo leaning against her. Sesshomaru seemed to be enjoying himself, he was waiting for everyone to go to bed so he could talk to the miko alone. "Are you excited about tonight Kikyo?" Sango asked. Kikyo and InuYasha blushed. "I am excited to be able to spend the rest of my life alive and with the love of my life." InuYasha leaned in and kissed Kikyo.
"Oh, yuck you guys. Go get a room!" Laughed Kagome. "Shut up wench, you're just jealous that you ain't got anyone to love you like this." Kagome knew it was said as a joke, but she could not help but take it to heart. He was right, she was the only one of the group who did not have someone to love. "Keh, I think it is time Kikyo and I go back to our hut now. Goodnight everyone." InuYasha was in a rush to leave. He could not wait to get Kikyo alone and to finally make her his mate. "Goodnight." Everyone excluding Sesshomaru replied. And with that they both left, Leaving only Miroku, Sango, Kagome and two sleeping children, and Sesshomaru. Kohaku had left soon after Sesshomaru joined, he had been tired after the battle and wished everyone a goodnight so he could get some rest.
"So, have you two decided when you were going to get married?" Kagome asked Miroku and Sango. They looked at each other and smiled before returning their gaze to Kagome. "We were thinking of getting married one full moon cycle from now." Kagome got so excited and almost jumped up to hug the couple but stopped because the weight of two children weighed her down. "I am so excited to hear that! We have so much planning to do!" Sango smiled at her best friend, "Kagome from what you told us from your modern ceremonies I was wondering if you would be my maid of honor." Kagome just looked at Sango with tears in her eyes. Kagome got up with Rin in one arm and Shippo in the other and walked to the room that she slept in. She carefully placed Rin and Shippo in her sleeping mat. She returned to the room that Sango, Miroku and Sesshomaru were in. She looked at Sango again before practically running into the taijiya arm. "Sango I would be honored to be your made of honor!" Kagome had happy tears streaming down her face. "It is getting late; you guys should go to bed. It is going to be a busy next few weeks. We have so much planning to do!" "Goodnight Kagome!" Sango and Miroku said in unison then walked back to their shared hut.
"You have been quiet Sesshomaru-sa…" Kagome stopped saying the title when a deadly look crossed his features. "Forgive me Sesshomaru… Shouldn't you be heading back as well? I am sure you are needed back in your lands." Kagome was rambling. Her and Sesshomaru had gotten close in the past few weeks during their travels. She ended up really liking the conversations they had while the people of their pack were sleeping. "This one has come to speak with you miko." Kagome looked shocked. "Why did you not say anything earlier, you have been here for hours! I am so sorry for having you wait for me." She felt awful for making him wait to speak to her. "This Sesshomaru was waiting to get you alone, I have a question to ask you." Kagome looked at him waiting for him to continue. She was very curious as to what he wanted to ask. Many of their conversations started this way. With one of them asking a question, that sparked the most interesting conversations.
"Kagome, it seems as though this one has…developed feelings for you. Would you do me the honor of courting this Sesshomaru?" Kagome stared at him with very wide eyes. He never called her by her name. Sesshomaru waited patiently for her to answer his question. Kagome was lost for words. Her heart was racing and there were butterflies in her stomach.
She would have never admitted it to anyone, she had slowly fallen for the demon lord. After seeing all of her friends in loving relationships, she wanted nothing more than to find someone to love and to be loved in return. Before she knew it, the lord had found his way into her heart. She never meant to fall for him, but their conversations were so deep and meaningful. She knew how it looked; she couldn't get one brother so why not try the other. That way not the case though. For InuYasha it was a simple crush and a want to be loved by someone, and he was the first guy to show her true affection, even though he only saw Kikyo in her. With Sesshomaru these feelings were real and intense. There was no way these feeling could be reciprocated. He was a highly ranked demon lord and she was only a human miko. She was just asking to be heartbroken again. When he showed up to visit Rin, her heart started skipping a beat. 'You gotta get a hold of yourself!' She could not help herself from walking out to see him in all his glory and to invite him to stay. She secretly hoped that he would accept her offer to stay and have a cup of tea. She was so excited that he said yes.
And now he was here asking her to be his girlfriend. Her mind was screaming at her to answer him. He was just staring at her waiting for her to reply.
"Yes, I will court you Sesshomaru" He was in front of her in a second. He gently grabbed her chin and pulled it up, so she was looking at him. Slowly he leaned down and ever so softly he kissed her lips. "Until next time my miko" He walked out of the hut leaving a blushing miko behind. Kagome touched her lips. Who knew something that was so feint could wrack up a storm in her body.
