Toa Solaric: How is it going, everyone? I apologized for not being on the web since I was doing my finals and now, I'm done. This is not a chapter but an short interlude in order to get thoughts flowing once again.
Code Geass: Lelouch of Divine Providence
Interlude 1: Sleepy Beauty
Euphemia li Britannia can't help but feel being both in pain and irritating at the same time. She didn't know how long she had been in this room and what's going on out there.
If she didn't know who the leader of Black Knights really was, she would be feeling worse for her own life in the process. But she can't help wondering what he knows about what's going on with her.
Her half-brother…
He changed a lot more than Euphemia would imagine after he and Nunnally been exiled to Japan before it was call Area 11. He now possessed unknown power that makes him known as 'Kamen Rider Zangetsu', but it also followed with the strange creatures that seem to have something do with what's going on with her.
The first things are the metal case on her arm and stomach that she couldn't remove as she always feels constant burnt from them when she tried. She even gets some burned marks from trying to removing them on her own before she gives up. Even though her brother says that she is injuries, she doesn't understand why she still needs to wear these metal cases in the first place.
But what concerned for her were the foods that were brought to her. Not that she would voice this out to her half-brother. Euphemia wasn't sure what his thoughts would be on it. But when she tried to eat… didn't have any flavor in them.
It wasn't the first time, but every time when her brother or his subordinate comes to give her foods. When she tried to eat them, the blander they felt in her mouth. The same goes for the water.
There is no way my brother pulled something like this… he is not that type of person…
She can't help but feel that whatever causing her injuries making her unable to taste anything. The thought of it makes her feel hungrier before. At this rate, she might even lose her mind and—
"You don't look well, Euphie." A familiar warm voice said. This made the princess become startled and looks up to see her brother here with a rolling tray that carried a teapot.
"B-Brother…?" Euphemia asked, looking surprised that her brother is already in the room. But she was surprised that she didn't notice he comes into the room. "When did you get here…?"
"Been here for a while," Lelouch answered. Though he is concerned with how she looking after stayed in this room for nearly a few weeks.
"I see..." Euphemia responds, still feeling uncomfortable from the hungry. "H-H-how are you and Nunnally are doing?" she asked.
"We're doing fine. But she still worried if you were ever found." Lelouch answered calmly.
"Lelouch… do you know what is happening to me, don't you?" Euphemia asked, finally decided to confront her brother about it. "Even since I got here, I can't help feeling more burn and… hungry." She responds with agony in her voice.
"I know." Lelouch answered quietly. "that the sympathies might eventually show." He knows of this from watching records of her eating behavior to know the level of her illness.
"Am I turning into some kind… of monster?" The pink-haired princess asked, fearfully.
She then felt pair of arms wrapped around her as Lelouch putting her into embraced. Euphemia soon resting her head again her brother's shoulder.
"No, you aren't. That is what I will make sure." Lelouch said warmly. "I promised you that I will do everything in my power to make sure you're cured."
"How?" Euphemia asked, still disbelief.
Lelouch soon picked up the teapot and pour the content in the cup.
"In the tea, it will put you into a deep sleep and make you unconscious. It will also prevent your illness from spreading and freeze in time. But that will give me time to create a cure while you still having your humanity within you. Once you wake up, the illness that you have will be no more." Lelouch explains.
Euphemia can't help but feel shocked after the explanation. Even though she is afraid of what she might turn into, her brother is going to save her. From what she gets, that she will be put to sleep is the only way to ensure that the illness won't affect her and her brother is going to find a cure in order to save her. Even though she and her brother are supposed to be enemies, but she still remembered the humanity in the warm from the white samurai and felt the same in her brother before her.
"Will you… really find a way to cure me?" Euphemia asked, hesitantly.
Lelouch responded without a pause. "Of course, I would, Euphy."
That is enough for Euphemia's will had caved in and her emotional dam had overflowed and broken. Tears began to leak from her eyes and she started to sob lightly.
"Euphy…" Lelouch whispered before hugging her once again.
"T-Thank you, Lelouch…" Euphemia said, holding her brother tightly while crying into his shoulder. The two half-siblings were holding each other in a hug for a while. It wasn't long until Lelouch watching her drank the tea before drifting into sleeping.
"Goodnight, Euphy," Lelouch said softly.
I hope that I will see you… Nunnally… and big sister Nelly when I get better… Euphemia thought after everything turned pitch black for her.
Lelouch is looking at the sleeping form of his sister, who is currently resting in a chamber with a gas mask over her face. It wasn't long that he moved his half-sister to a more suitable room where her health will be monitor by researchers and doctors.
There will be no doubt that they would likely encounter more victims who suffered Helheim disease in the future.
"Was this really the only opinion, Lelouch?" A familiar voice asked. Lelouch turned around and seeing Rai standing behind him.
"In the future, we will see more of things like this and time will be an enemy that you can't beat," Lelouch answered with a tiring expression.
Rai won't deny that even if he never gets the chance to talk with one of his distant relatives. Then again, he wasn't sure what is there to talk with her due to their family's relation.
"But won't transfer energy from Driver hold the urges back as well?" Rai asked, curious. In theory, that would most likely work for those who suffered from Helheim disease.
"That would work but making her stay awake will do more harm. Those who suffered from Helheim illnesses would often be fear and ostracized by others for being different. Fearing what they could spread to others in the process." Lelouch said with the last part in an icy tone. The idea of that would probably traumas his sister for certain.
"I see…" Rai frowned at the possibility. That is something he never considered due to how he was trapped for a long time. "Then the only way for a cure… would be them." He said.
"However, it is not the right time for us to even confront them yet," Lelouch stated. Preparation is needed for them to be ready for them.
AN: That is the end of the first Interlude. I'm certain everyone would like to know how things going for Euphie due to her being infected by Helheim's illness and here she is put in something like cryo-sleep as the world of Code Geass hadn't developed that technology yet.
