Arc 3 Chapter 24

NOTE: Sorry everyone. Between getting ready for christmas and during the end of the year. I pray for a better year because 2020 sucked! I've been busy and have taken a break from the story. I haven't quit just trying to make the story better and more attractive to the readers so bear with me. The Arc is reaching its climax as well as other things that will lead to the plot of Arc 4. The chapters will get longer and I intend to end it at Chapter 30. I had to make a lot of readjustments to this chapter and practically go back and remake it. Wasn't happy with the old story so I made another one. Also to remember to read the precursor story line if you haven't because it does tie up into the main story and takes place 18 years before the events of Arc 2 and so on. I will be releasing another chapter of it sometime soon and as a reminder chapters for it aren't as frequent as the ones I release for the main one. Arc 4 will be interesting so to readers be patient. I wish everyone a happy new year and I pray for the best.

BOOM!...An explosion blew the door open of the armory and in stormed the octolings that successfully breached the room to where Blake had locked himself in. "Pan out and search for that fossil!" ordered the rebel sergeant. "Come out where we can see you! Don't make this hard on yourself!" She shouted to flush Blake out. The sound of something winding up, soon caught their attention behind the crate. "Behind there! Show yourself!" shouted the sergeant.

"If you insist," said Blake. The octolings readied their weapons for anything and quickly, Blake jumped on top of the crate with a splatling in his hand.

"What the! Where did that inkling come from!?" shouted the stunned sergeant.

"He's got a splattling!" shouted another octoling as she pointed.

"Prepare to eat ink!" Blake shouted as the splattling winded up and pelted the octolings with yellow ink. He splattered three as three more octo formed and quickly slithered out of the room and hugged the wall outside the door way as ink flew through the opening.

"Son a shrimp!" exclaimed the sergeant.

"Sergeant! What do we do!?" asked the other.

"(growl) When that inkstain stops shooting blast the crap out of him! After that locate that human!" ordered the rebel sergeant.

Blake shut down the splatling as he ran out of ink. The octolings rushed the doorway and shot at Blake who was now an inkling for some unexplainable reason. He dove in the ink made made by the splatling in his squid form. The octolings quit shooting and watched the ink puddles for any movement. "Where are you squid!" she sneered. Eyes popped out from in front of the other octoling as he jumped out and kicked her down. She yelped as the sergeant turned her weapon toward him. He squid formed again and tackled her but she recoiled from the blow. "You gotta do better than that inkstain!" she taunted.

"Ok then," said Blake as flipped back and changed forms beside the other octoling. She sat up but Blake quickly grabbed her and flung her toward the rebel sergeant. Not having time to move the octoling landed on her as her octo shot flew out of her grasp. The two remaining octolings were finally subdued. Blake walked over to the sergeant with the other one laying on top of her.

"Where...did you come from...inkstain? Where's that damn fossil?" she asked weakly.

Blake gave her a smirk. "I am that fossil...and it's Blake to you," he told her.

"No...freakin' way..." she said before going unconscious.

Blake's squidwatch beeped and soon he turned back to his human form. "What the heck was that! A new special that Sheldon didn't tell me about! I felt...strange but accelerating!" exclaimed Blake. He turned toward the doorway with the octo shot he was carrying and a full ink tank on his back. He raced to the assembly area where he saw Octavio and Callie on the monitor before. "Cal! I'm coming! just hang on!" he shouted. Further in the base. The rebels were grabbing their weapons and were blocking the entrance to the assembly area where Octavio was.

"All units! Stop the fossil at all cost! He's not to reach the inner sanctum!" shouted an elite as her voice repeated through the intercom system throughout the base. "

"They're not gonna stop me from getting Callie back!" Blake shouted as he ran down the corridor. At the end a group of octolings were rushing toward Blake. They quickly stopped and opened fire of the human. Blake power slid to evade the ink as he returned fire with the octo shot. He splattered one octoling as the other two kept shooting. Blake closed in on the two as he stood up and rushed them. Striking one with his weapon and shooting the other in the face. The one he struck attempted to grab him but he struck her again and shot her in the face as well. He pushed on until he would reach the inner sanctum doors where a large group of octarians and octolings were waiting for him.

Unknown to him another group of octolings as well as octotroopers were headed to his direction from behind. Blake stopped as he approached the large door to the inner sanctum. "Octavio and Callie have got to be behind here, theirs no doubt about it... well Octavio...I guess it's time to finish this. You and the rebels are going down and Callie's coming back to Inkopolis!" shouted Blake. He walked closer toward the large doors but all of a sudden the rebels caught up to Blake from behind. "Stop right there!" shouted an octoling. Blake turned around and saw the large squad of octolings and octotroopers pointing their weapons at him. "Drop your weapon and surrender!" shouted the octoling again.

"I would say you and what army but..." scoffed Blake.

"Shut up and surrender human! I got no time for a smart ass!" as she cut him off.

"You guys are such tools! All I here is the same old quotes! Time and time again! Don't you octopi have a personality? Why not change it up a bit..." suggested Blake sarcastically.

"You think this is a game..." started the octoling who was getting angrier by Blake's comments before getting cut off.

"Fossil! Human! I have a name you ink squirters! I know how this goes... you expect to just surrender and then you take me captive for some nefarious goal. Typical of the bad guys of some corny good vs evil movie. I hate to admit it but I'm actually getting bored. So let's skip all of this and just get to the point," said Bake snidely showing no disregard for the octoling's authority.

The octoling bared her teeth in frustration. Enraged that Blake would act so smug toward her and the octarians. She clinched her fist for a moment before relaxing them and giving a fake smile. "The point huh...very well," she said before octo forming and swimming toward Blake. She quickly changed back before Blake could react and threw a punch directly into his face, knocking him back. "How about that for a point! Squidlover!" shouted the octoling as she loomed over Blake.

Blake sat up and rubbed his jaw as the rest of the octolings and octotroopers closed in on Blake. "Get his ass outta here before I decide to put him in front of a firing squad!" ordered the octoling but all of a sudden a barrage of ink struck the octarians toward the rear of the crowd as the rest of them quickly turned around to see the assailant.

"Izzy!" shouted Blake.

"Splat the inkstain!" shouted the octoling before Blake quickly grabbed her. The two of them got into a struggle before Blake returned the favor and punched her down to the floor. "Karma's a... well you know the rest," he scoffed at the dazed octoling. Izzy rolled to evade the ink fire from the rebels as Blake jumped up and kicked an octotrooper off its platform. Another octotrooper turned toward Blake with a scowl and prepared to shoot him but was shot off by Izzy. The last two remaining octolings were finished off by the two agents as they were no match for Blake and Izzy.

"Well, this is a sight for sore eyes. I wasn't sure if we'd ever meet up again...thanks for the save Izzy! I'm glad to see you again," said Blake as approached Izzy.

"Likewise Blake, It looked like you were in trouble so I decided to drop in," said Izzy plainly.

"I guess you can say that but thanks, I owe you one," said Blake.

"Just buy me an ink soda at crusty sean's whenever we get back," said Izzy following it up with a grin.

"Pleasantries aside, It's time kick Octavio's ass and get Callie back. It ends here and it's time for Octavio to answer for all that he's done. We gotta stop the fleet before they leave for Inkopolis," said Blake as he looked at the large steel door that would lead them to the main staging area but Blake noticed Izzy's uneasy expression. "Izzy, is something the matter? If your concerned about facing more rebels, it's ok we'll..." started Blake before he was cut off.

"No it's not that, it's... I made a promise... to a friend," said Izzy uneasily.

"A promise?" asked Blake, wondering what she meant.

"I'll...explain later, let's just stop Octavio before it's too late," said Izzy, changing the subject.

"Ok... before we continue we gotta come up with a plan. I'm sure theirs more rebels on the other side waiting for us. We won't have the element of surprise this time..." said Blake yet cut off again.

"Or will we?" said Izzy as Blake turned to the inkling in question. "I picked up some souvenirs on my way here...I thought these might come in handy," said Izzy as she pulled out a couple of splat bombs and one ink charge.

"Way to go Izzy...and I think I know what to do," said Blake excitedly as he took one of the splat bombs and ink charge. He walked up to the door and placed the ink charge on it. "Let's see...I guess I turn this," said Blake as he turned a dial on top of it and the ink charge was slowly charging for an explosion. "Stand back!" he shouted as he hit the floor. Izzy squid formed and got to safe distance.

On the other side of the steel door behind some barricades. The rebels were situating themselves for any attempt of the agents to breach and push through their blockade. "Everyone get into positions! Don't shoot until he see the whites of their eyes! That fossil and inkstain are not to make it past this point! They are to be stopped at all cost!" shouted an elite behind the rebel blockade. After several seconds the rebels could hear what sounded like ticking.

"What is that?" asked one of the octolings hearing the ticking behind the door.

"Oh shell! Get back!" shouted the elite but it was too late. The door was blasted open, leaving a large breach in the middle of it. Smoke followed by ink and debris caused the rebels to become shell-shocked and disoriented from the blast. Shrapnel struck the octotroopers in the front killing or wounding them. The rebels attempted to get up as they coughed and recoiled from the blast. "What the! (cough) Get on your feet and..." ordered the elite but soon two splat bombs filled with yellow ink landed in front of the still unrecovered rebels and exploded. This finished off nearly the rest of the rebels, say for the elite that took some damage as well as two other octoling regulars.

Blake and Izzy rushed in before the octolings could recover and splatted them. The elite fought to keep her strength and aimed her octoshot at Blake but Izzy shot it out of her hand and Blake bashed the elite with his weapon. She was down on the floor trying to sit up as Blake had the weapon nozzle in her face. She flipped him off with her teeth bared before Blake shot her in the face, killing her. Blake showed no apathy as he walked on with Izzy concerned about his demeanor.

"You comin'?" asked Blake brashly.

"Yeah...um," said Izzy as she turned toward the elite's body. She knew Blake, like her had a mission to complete but she had noticed that Blake's attitude had changed some before they met again. She caught up with Blake, setting her thoughts aside as the two of them ran down the large corridor until they spotted more approaching rebels. "Open fire!" shouted a rebel before shooting at the two. Blake inked a path in front of him so he could power slide to evade the ink. He returned fire at the octolings as Izzy rushed behind Blake and shot at another rebel. More octarians congregated ahead of them in an attempt to stop them reaching the staging area. Starting to get overwhelmed and not collecting enough ink fast enough to fight the rebels. Izzy pulled out one last splat bomb she kept for an emergency.

"I got an idea Izzy! Throw it!" he shouted.

Izzy nodded and chunked the bomb at the octarians but instead of giving the rebels a chance to back away from the delayed blast. Blake shot at the bomb and in turn absorbed the ink shots causing it to swell and detonate prematurely not giving the rebels a chance to flee. They were finished off and covered the entire area full of yellow ink, allowing the two of them to collect enough ink to press on.

"Wow! Way to think Blake!" shouted Izzy.

"I have my moments. Can't be further until we reach octavio and the fleet!" shouted Blake as they were nearing the inner sanctum.

The two of them finally made it into the elevator. They descended further down the base and soon into the staging area of the rebel HQ but will the two agents make it in time before Octavio and octozeppelin fleet head off for Inkopolis?

15 minutes earlier, Maxie hid away from the rebel reinforcements that stormed the courtyard of the celphalon base. She spotted multiple teams of octoling and octarians rush inside the building as her window of getting inside was gone. "Great, I gotta find another way in but where?" Maxie asked herself. She octo formed and slithered around to avoid detection until she spotted a man hole in the corner. She swam toward it and changed forms before lifting up on the lid. "Guess I got no other choice...this may be my only way in," said Maxie. She hopped down and slithered down the dark tunnel until she came across a red lit room. She looked around and spotted Blake's headset laying on the floor.

"This is Blake's...he was here...he couldn't have gotten far," said Maxie as she placed the headset around her neck and pressed further into the base. As she opened the door, she could hear the echoing of boots running down the hallway. She quickly ran away from the footsteps and ran into the surveillance room. The room that was filled with camera screens like the one Blake spotted Octavio and Callie in. She watched the monitors until she spotted a figure running into what appeared to be an armory. It was Blake and he locked the door to keep the rebels out. She continued to watch but something caught her attention even more. Blake transformed into an inkling before her eyes. Her eyes widened and her mouth opened at the sight. "Im...possible...how on earth did..." she said before the door blasted open and octolings stormed inside. "Blake!" she screamed but she saw him squid form and hop onto the crate he was hiding behind and splatted some of the octolings with a splatling he grabbed nearby.

"I gotta be seeing things...I did not just see Blake turn into an inkling, theirs's got to be a clear explanation," said Maxie in denial.

She watched Blake leave the room and turned her attention to some communication equipment. "A radio...maybe I can get ahold of HQ and inform them of my situation... Octillia's gonna be thrilled to hear my voice, assuming they think I'm dead. Now let's see..." said Maxie as she tuned the channel to the Neo-Octarian network though it would probably be blocked. As she assumed it was so she used morse code through beeping to send an SOS signal, hoping she would get a hold of the command center.

Back in Octo Valley, the lieutenant was sitting at her station along with her team monitoring the screens and communications. One of them caught an arrant signal coming from Octo Canyon. "Lieutenant! You may wanna hear this!" shouted the corporal.

"What is it!? This better be important," asked the lieutenant sternly.

"It's... a distress call? S.O.S. but it's coming from the canyon," said the baffled octoling.

"What! Where at!?" asked the lieutenant anxiously.

"I've tracked the signal to... the rebel's base but that can't be right," replied the corporal.

"Are you positive corporal?" asked Octillia with assurance.

"Yes I'm sure lieutenant but what could that..." started the corporal only to be interrupted.

"It's gotta be Maxie! Unblock the network and put a call out!" she ordered.

"Ma'am, are you sure you wanna..." asked the corporal, still unsure about the elite's decision.

"Just do it corporal! I gave you an order!" demanded Octillia as she pounded her fist on the counter. She was in no mood to argue and catch lip from her subordinate.

"Yes ma'am! right away!" shouted the octoling as she flinched from the lieutenant's posture. The octoling unjammed the network and prepared to reply to the S.O.S. message.

"I hope that did it...now all I got to do is see if they'll comply," said Maxie as she waited for a response. After seconds a message finally came through. "Who sent the distress call?...state yourself!" the voice called. Maxie rushed over to the microphone. "This is Sgt. Maxie of the missing recon team. Me and my team were captured nearly a week ago and I'm currently at the Celphalon HQ. I need to speak with Lt. Octillia ASAP!" demanded Maxie.

"This is Lt. Octillia! Maxie is that you!? Thank god you're still alive! What happened!?" responded Octillia anxiously.

"Me and my team were compromised thanks to that idiot specialist but long story short I managed to get away. Pvt. Serena was wounded and taken to get medical treatment by the squidbeak and yes, the squidbeak are here to stop Octavio and the rebels. Their launching a fleet to attack Inkopolis. I'm requesting our forces to assault their base and stop them before its too late... and also Lieutenant, you're not gonna like this but...Blake the human...has been assigned with the squidbeak unit and is here at the base as we speak," said the sergeant hesitantly.

"Wait a minute... did I hear you correctly sergeant. You said the human is there? With the squidbeak!...of all the irresponsible things for those squids to do...(growl) Never mind that! I'll have a word with them later, right now I'll send an extraction team to the base and I'll see what personnel we have to assault the base after you're picked up. You are to pop smoke once you've spotted the octoseeker. Stand by until further orders. You give your mission report once you've returned to base...I'm going to end up turning into an alcoholic once this is all done," said the lieutenant.

"Wanna hit the bar when we get the chance?" asked Maxie trying to break the monotony. The lieutenant just shook her head and gave a slight smile. "Sure, I guess so," she replied. "As I said you get out of there and..." started the lieutenant but she heard something slam open on Maxie's end of the line.

"Hey you! What are you doing in here!" shouted an angry voice on Maxie's side followed by ink fire in the background. "Maxie! Maxie! Come in!" shouted the lieutenant. Then silence as the signal ended.

"Ma'am we've lost connection," said the corporal.

"Get an extraction team ready! As of now I want an assault team prepped and ready to storm the base once the sergeant has been secured. There's no time to waste! so get your asses moving!" ordered the lieutenant as the regulars headed out to collect a team for the coming rescue and attack operation.

Meanwhile the elevator eased down to the staging area where they were too late as they watched the octozeppelins take off for the city. "Oh no! We're too late, Blake!" shouted Izzy.

"No we're not! Come on!" shouted Blake as the two jumped off the elevator before it finally came down. The two rushed toward the other side but a team of octolings impeded their path. "Stop them!" one of them shouted as they fired at Blake and Izzy.

"You're not stopping me from getting Callie back!" shouted Blake as he returned fire. The agents and rebels exchanged fire as the last octozeppelin was starting lift off. "Blake!" shouted Izzy directing him to the last airship.

"I know! We gotta get past these octopi!" replied Blake.

Izzy's squideatch glowed and she smacked it. This time she had the tenta missiles at her disposal. "Tenta Missiles!" she shouted excitedly. "Use em'!" shouted Blake. Izzy fastened her posture and launched the tenta missiles down on the octolings as they didn't have time to respond. They were splattered into yellow puddles and the two continued on but the airship was well off the ground and getting further away. "Blake hang on and grab my hand!" commanded Izzy.

"Izzy what are...oh no," said Blake realizing what she was about to do. She squid formed and shot up toward the octozepplein with Blake holding on to her tentacle and getting sprayed with ink. He screamed as he flew in the air and landing down on top of the airship with Izzy but Blake let go too soon and landed hard on the roof of the airship and bounced. He rolled toward the other side and nearly fell off if it weren't for Izzy grabbing him at the last second. "I got chu' Blake!" she yelled as she tried to pull him up. The two fell back with Blake holding his chest at the sheer thought of falling to his demise. "(deep breathing) If...this keeps it up... I'll owe you a whole case of sodas when we get back," said Blake giving a half smile to Izzy.

"The two stood up and watched the fleet head out of the canyon and onto the surface. "So...what's the plan?" asked Izzy.

"We stop Octavio...that's what," said Blake.

The two of them were unsure what to do next and how they would stop the airship fleet before it arrived at Inkopolis or how they would reach Octavio as they were both low of ink and the odds were stacked against them. They could see Inkopolis in the near distance and had to do something fast before the whole city would be under the influence of the octo rebels.

Back at Ammo Knights. Marie, Sheldon and the four other inklings that watched the two try to fight off the octarians as well as amazed at the fact that Marie was a squidbeak agent. They had left Sheldon's truck behind as it was badly damaged during the fight and Sheldon needed his tools at the shop to fix it. As he grabbed his tools he helped arm the inklings for combat against the rebels. They had filled their ink tanks and checked their weapons before the battle. Marie still had her charger. Flash and Suki had grabbed splat dualies, accustomed to what they were used to using in turf wars. Ben had a 52 gal and Jazz had decided to take a regular charger. She was not used to using a ranged weapon and was nervous about using it.

"You guys I've never used a charger before!" exclaimed Jazz.

"I'm sorry Jazz but we're going to need range weapons if we're goin to fight those octarians. You'll be at a disadvantage if you wield a splat brush, not to mention I feel better if you and Marie could provide us with sniper support once we're fighting on the air," said Ben.

"Jazz it's ok, I'll help you out. Theirs nothing to it," said Marie who walked over to her with an expression of reassurance.

"You sure...I mean this isn't a tutorial or even a turf game. This is actually fighting to the death!" exclaimed Jazz nervously.

"C'mon Jazz. We'll be fine. I know you can do it. Just think of it as a turf match but...no spawn pads. I'm not liking this either, maybe this was a bad idea!" said Flash with is mood from changing from positive to uncertainty.

"Snap out of it! You joined the IDF remember! What's the difference in that and fighting the octarians right now!?" shouted Ben who was not happy with Flash's change of heart.

"I didn't know what I was thinking ok! I joined for Izzy! I didn't think about the actual fighting and junk," exclaimed Flash.

"Well do this for Izzy or their won't be an Inkopolis or turf war games anymore dude!" replied Ben giving Flash a reason to fight the rebels.

"What! No more turfing!" shouted Flash with dread to hear that turf war games could be no more.

"That's right! How are you and Izzy going to hook up if the city is under octarian occupation huh? Think about that!" replied Ben.

Flash gave a nod and a serious look as he twirled his dualies. "I can do this...I hope," he said with his courage fading.

Suki placed her hand on her forehead and gave a deep sigh. "He's done for," she said with defeat.

"Is everyone ready!?" asked Marie as the inklings gave her a nod though they weren't eager for the coming fight ahead of them.

"Good, tonight we take on Octavio and the octo rebels. As a squidbeak agent I pledged a vow to defeat any and all threats against the inklings and the city of Inkopolis. I know you guys aren't agents but as the acting leader of the squidbeak squad. I hereby appoint you as honorary squidbeak agents until Octavio and his army are kept from taking control of the city. Octavio's going down! Now let's head out before they reach the square and..." said Marie with confidence trying to uplift the inklings mood but only to be cut off by Sheldon as they started toward the door.

"Marie! Hold up!" shouted Sheldon as he waved his arms.

"What is it Sheldon!" shouted Marie as she turned around and gave Sheldon a look of frustration.

"I've been working on something that might come in handy since my truck is down and we'll be fighting those octozeppelins until those octoarians decide to deploy on the ground," noted Sheldon as he directed the group toward something that was draped against a crate. He pulled up the cover revealing what appeared to be some kind of jetpack but was powered by ink. "I call them inkjets! They're a new special I've been working on for quite some time and here's the chance to get them field tested," said Sheldon with excitement. The group looked at it with question but Flash was drooling at the sight of the inkjet.

"Inkjets, what are they supposed to do or should I ask?" replied Marie uncertain about the invention.

"They allow the user to hover off the ground by propeling ink through these jets on the side. Dub the name inkjets. They should level the playing field for you guys and combat any air threats the octarians may send out but be careful they are still in their trial phase though and I only have four at my disposal so please don't damage them," said Sheldon sternly as Flash snuck over to touch the inkjet. Suki walked over and smacked his hand as Flash shook it and shot Suki a glare.

"Those things are so cool. I'm getting one as soon as they come out for the turf war games!" said Flash directing his attention back to Sheldon and the group.

"If theirs going to be anymore turf games you dumb squid!" scolded Suki as she smacked Flash in the head with one of dualies. Flash yelped and rubbed his head before gritting his teeth at the inkling girl.

"Very well then... you three can grab an inkjet but Jazz can stay near me once we hunt for a good vantage point. We'll save the last inkjet for an emergency. So can we get started before they get here?" suggested Marie still annoyed by their delay.

"Let me grab my tools first. I need you guys to escort me back to the truck after we leave so we'll have more firepower and a vehicle at our disposal. I just hope those octopi don't vandalize it since we left my baby behind," said Sheldon grabbing his tool bag.

"I'm sure it'll be fine. Let's just get out of here before the rebels take over the city," said Marie as she lead the group out of the shop and made their way back Sheldon's truck.

Octavio and the fleet were nearing the skyline of Inkopolis, not too far from the square where Marie and the others were leaving. "Tonight! We make history! It's time these hipsters found out what the octarians are made of! That cousin of yours, that hipster Cuttlefish and that blasted inkstain agent 3 will not be able to stop us! All Octozeppelins get into positions!" boomed Octavio. The octozeppelins broke formation and spread out to different locations. "Get ready my assistant! Tonight we take back what is ours!" he shouted to Callie.

"Yes, DJ," she replied plainly. still under Octavio's control.

As the octozeppelins got into position. The bay doors opened, as the octoparatroopers dropped down with their parachutes to secure the target area. After they signaled the all clear the hypnowave emitters were dropped down, followed by the octolings that octo jumped from the airships down below to guard and man the emitters. The engineers constructed the emitters to put out a frequency that would hide the hypnowaves inside Octavio's beats and Callie's singing. The large devices were about the size of a truck and had large speakers running from the sides of it and a large antenna on top. On the back was a control terminal that was manned by one of the rebel engineers.

"We're all ready at positions and awaiting for further orders, my liege," said an elite as she surveyed to see that all the emitters were placed at their assigned locations and manned by the engineers.

"Good, now to get all those inkstains attention. Power up the emitters!" commanded Octavio.

The octolings turned on the emitters as the light on top of the antenna turned green signaling the device was running. Octavio then turned to is console and let out a loud foghorn sound from his octobot king to draw out the inklings from their homes. "Once the inkstains are under control. We take the city and soon we take the valley. Those turncoats will regret ever turning their back on me! And I will rightfully take the throne and rule the surface! (laughing) Now...let's crank up the beats!" he shouted.

All of a sudden a splat bomb was ejected, right in front of the octobot king. "What the..." said Octavio as the bomb exploded causing the floating robot to careen back as Callie held on with Octavio bracing before getting control of the octobot king. "Who threw that! What inkstain dares..." started Octavio as he looked down and saw a sight he was not expecting to see.

"I do!... Octavio! It's time for you to go back in that snowglobe!" shouted Marie who was standing on the street staring at Octavio.

"What the! So you're not dead after all... how inconvenient. Not a chance squid! It's gonna take a lot more than you to stop me and my army!" shouted Octavio snidely.

"That's why I'm not alone! Agents! Stop the emitters! I'll take Octavio!" ordered Marie as the other inklings rushed up beside her.

"You got Marie!...C'mon we got some octo butt to kick!" said Flash as he turned to the group before flying off on the inkjet issued by Sheldon.

"Hold up Flash! We gotta think of a...strategy, (deep sigh)" cautioned Ben as he tried to signal to Flash but it was too late. Flash had done jetted away.

"He'll never change," commented Suki with slight annoyance. Ben moaned at her words and agreed quietly before the two of them chased after the inkling.

"(laughing) You seriously believe you and those hipsters can stop me. Think again squid! I won't let some pathetic inkstains rain on my show! How about we end this or should I say your cousin Caliie will. Assistant! Deal with her and make sure she goes down this time!" order Octavio.

"You got it DJ!" shouted Callie as she squid jumped down in front of Marie before she jumped out of the way.

"Callie! Don't do this! Don't make me have to fight you again!" pleaded Marie.

"It's no use squid! She's under my control or... I guess you'll have no choice but to hurt your dear cousin. Hurts to think about it don't it," sneered Octavio.

Callie got into a fighting pose and readied for her cousin to attack. Marie then turned toward her cousin but instead of getting into a fighting posture herself. She gave a half smile with pleading eyes. "Callie... listen to me...it's your cousin, I know you're in there I know you're stronger than this... fight it! Fight Octavio's influence!" shouted Marie in an effort to break the octarians's influence on her. Callie stepped up as she fought Octavio's command to deal with her cousin. "What are you waiting for? Finish her! ordered Octavio.

Callie shrugged off Marie's appeasement and stepped closer in an aggressive manner but as Callie balled up her fist and grabbed Marie by the collar of her agent jacket. Marie attempted to get Callie out of her trance again. "Cal...Please...I love you, you're my cousin and I could not fight you. We've been thick and thin since we were hatchlings in the county. Remember the folk singing singing contest. That's when we became pop singers. that's when we started the squid sisters. Please Callie remember!" pleaded Marie as tears started to form.

"Nice try squirt but it's no use. She's under my control and she doesn't remember you, Cuttlefish, or anyone else. Now... deal with her once in for all! That's an order!" shouted Octavio.

Marie's words finally got to Callie as she shook her fist at Marie, stopping herself before she would strike her own cousin. "Huh...assistant, what are waiting for? I gave you an order!" demanded Octavio.

"N...N...No...she's...my cousin," replied Callie meekly.

"Cal?" replied Marie as tear ran down her face.

"Marie," responded Callie with a tear running down her cheek from behind the hypnoshades.

"CAL! I've missed you so much!" shouted Marie embracing her cousin.

"Oh Marie! I love you too!" shouted Callie hugging back. The two embraced one another as they thought about how separated they were for a long time. Octavio glared at the sight and started chuckling. The two turned toward Octavio with angered looks.

"How heart warming...but I've got a show to put on and if she's unwilling to do as I command... then I guess I won't need her then will I," said Octavio ready to shock Callie yet again at the highest setting. If she was unwilling to kill her cousin then he would kill her and Marie knew this.

"Octavio don't you dare!" shouted Marie who aimed her charger at the hulking octopus.

"I might have lost my assistant but you'll lose your cousin in the process," sneered Octavio as he pressed the button. "say goodbye to your cousin!" he yelled as he shocked the squid sister.

"AAAAHHHH!" she screamed in pain. "CAL!" yelled Marie. The hypnoshades we're electrocuting her but Marie rushed up to grab the shades from Callie's face. She grabbed a hold of the hypnoshades which in turn shocked her as well but she fought the current and pulled them off and threw them down on the ground. Stepping on them and breaking them before they could be used again. She turned toward Callie who was stumbling before spitting magenta ink and falling backward. "Callie!" Marie shouted as she rushed over. The hypnoshades had done damage to Callie as ink was dripping from her mouth. "Callie! Callie! Speak to me!" exclaimed Marie holding up her cousin. "M...Ma...rie...what...happened? How did... (cough) I get here?" asked Callie weakly.

"Cal, hold on... you're going to be ok," said Marie with tears coming.

"I'm...so sorry... M... Marie," said Callie as she fainted and became unresponsive.

"Cal, Cal! Wake up!" shouted Marie as she shook her cousin. It was no use, Callie had took too much from the hypnoshades and Marie cried over her deceased cousin. "No...Cal..." she cried as tears dropped on her cousin's lifeless body.

"Shame...what a waste. I hated that I had to let her go, but the show must go on and soon all of Inkopolis will be under my power. That's one hipster out of the way," said Octavio with no consideration of Callie's demise.

Marie's face darkened and her fist clenched and shook. She quickly rose her head with pure rage, aiming her charger at Octavio. "Damn it Octavio! You're going to pay for this! Callie was family and you just KILLED HER! YOU COWARD! REST ASSURED YOU AND REBELS WILL BE DEFEATED AND YOU CAN COUNT ON ME CARVING YOUR GRAVESTONE AFTER I'M DONE WITH YOU!" roared Marie in pure anger.

"BRING IT SQUIRT! SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT! YOU'LL JOIN YOUR COUSIN SOON ENOUGH!" Octavio boomed back.

Meanwhile Flash was rushing to the closest emitter with ben and Suki finally catching up with him. "Flash hang on!" shouted Ben.

Flash spotted the octozeppelin and soon the emitter down below surrounded by both octarians and octolings. "Now's my time to shine. Those octo-broads won't know what's about to hit them," said Flash with arrogance as he swooped down to attack the octarians.

"Flash! This isn't turf war! If you get splatted who won't be able to respawn!" shouted Ben but it was no use. Flash was heading toward the emitter that was guarded by the rebels. "Forget it Ben! We won't listen to reason! Let's go attack another emitter! If he wants be a one squid platoon, then let him!" shouted Suki.

Ben shook his head and groaned. There was no getting to him and they had to stop the rebels before those devices came on and then it would be to late to save Inkopolis. Flash on the other hand let his ego kick in. He aimed his dualies at the rebels and splatted one with others completely stunned at what just happened. The looked and saw the inkling hovering in midair with the inkjet. "What the! A flying squid!" one of the shouted.

"Hey ladies! Hey...they're kinda cute... maybe I should go easy on them," said Flash swooning over the female octolings.

"Oh how gentlemen like of you...makes my job a lot easier you gullible inkstain! Shoot that squid!" shouted another octoling as she fired her octoshot at Flash along with the other ones. "Whoa! They're not playing around!" exclaimed Flash almost getting hit. He took evasive action as he circled the emitting avoiding the ink fire. He aimed his dualies back on the octolings and shot at them. They dispersed and octo formed out of his kill zone. The engineer hugged the machine to avoid getting splatted and to protect it. The octolings changed back and shot at Flash at different vantage points.

"Corporal! Get on top of one of those buildings and splat that inkhead! Me and the private will distract him while get a bead on him!" ordered a rebel sergeant as the corporal octo formed and swam to a higher spot to shoot Flash. The sergeant and private stayed on the ground and coated the area with octarian ink to dive in as Flash tried to shoot them. Flash came back around as the sergeant shouted "Get ready!". Flash sprayed at the octolings again but she octo formed and dove into the ink. As he flew off she changed back and shot at him. One of the ink pellets hit his ink jet but didn't damage enough to bring the inkling down. The corporal was on top of a near by building and aimed her octoshot at Flash. She waited for the inkling to get baited by her comrades down below and shoot him down when he passed over again.

Flash made another run to hit the octolings and managed to hit the private before she dove into the ink with the other one hiding in the puddle before she fired at the inkling again to get his attention. As Flash flew over the corporal had her sights on Flash and was ready to shoot him down as he flew closer without him noticing her. "Got you now inkstain," she said to herself before she could pull the trigger. Flash spotted her and froze seeing she was about to shoot him but she was splattered into purple ink. Flash stopped and looked around, wondering who saved him. He spotted a figure waving at him from on top of another building nearby. It was his friend Jazz and the charger that Sheldon gave her.

"Nice shot Jazz! You saved my tentacles! I didn't think you were good with a charger," commented Flash.

"Well, seeing you about to get done in by that octoling. I guess I had it in me all along...especially if my friends are in danger," replied Jazz.

"Well keep it up Jazz. Maybe when this is done you an be our team sniper with a little bit of practice," said Flash.

"I'll consider that but for now let's make sure that we can go to another turf war game in the future. Let's stop these guys first before they take control of the city," suggested Jazz. Flash gave a smile and nodded before flying off to his next target. Jazz kept her eyes peeled for any air threats until she would move to another location.

Flash set his sights back on the engineers back was turned as she hurried to cut the machine on. Flash whistled at her as she jerked. She turned to see Flash giving her a smile before creaming her with his dualies and disabling the device. The emitter blew up into a big burst of ink, killing the rebel sergeant in the process before she could get out of the blast zone. "Well that takes care of that," said Flash but a pellet of ink flew past him and as he turned he spotted a squadron of octocopters. "No stupid tentacles are going to shoot down this awesome squid," said Flash as he flew towards them as he sprayed the hovering octarians with his dualies.

10 minutes earlier, Onboard one of the octozeppelins that stayed to itself. Major Octsana along with an entourage of her loyal comrades had just dropped the last emitter but this emitter had been tampered with. It was reprogrammed to relay the Red Queen's control frequency and gave the user the ability to hack into the other emitters and reprogram them as well. As the major and the other octolings octo jumped down. They powered up the device and secured the area for unwanted company. "It'll be all up to Octavio and that inkstain under his control. Once they start performing, we'll relay the signal and soon we'll take control of this city under Octavio's acknowledgement. Afterward, he'll be no use to the Red Queen anymore and we can deal with the Neo-Octarians in the valley. Operation Teal Dawn will continue in motion as planned and soon the promised land will become a reality. (sinister laughing)" explained the major as the octarians cheered and shouted.

The major pulled out her octo phone and called the Red Queen. "This is Black knight, the wheels are in motion, my queen. We've established the tampered emitter into it's assigned location and are waiting for Octavio to start the sequence," said Octsana.

"Excellent, Black Knight. You and your team are to ensure that phase two will be carried out and to remain in place once the inklings have been subjected by the hypnowave I've installed. Make sure Octavio is "dealt with" so we can move on to phase three. Dealing with those valley turncoats. With the inklings under our influence and fighting by our side or should I say in the front. The Neo-Octarians will have no choice but to surrender and then we take control of the valley. Deal with any opposition or those who refuse to recognize their new regime. Once the empress has been removed from power I will rule and our races will live in permanent peace under the banner of the Red Queen. No one will stop us and we will move on to the final phase of the operation which requires us getting inside the vault," said the Red Queen.

"My queen you have my full loyalty but what is inside of the vault that you have not given me full detail of or for that matter the final phase of Operation Teal Dawn?" asked Octsana.

"I guess you deserve an answer, especially as far as we've gotten with Inkopolis soon in our grasp. The vault I'm sure you're aware was built by humans and what's inside is more human technology, much more advance than anything we or the inklings have ever dug up. You see the humans thousands of years ago had used all kinds of methods to escape their demise like the underground domes we resided in. The domes were meant to house the humans until it was safe to go back to the surface. The vault by what've learned was an underground military complex constructed to house weaponry, supplies and even pods containing humans like the one that was discovered months ago," explained the Red Queen.

"More humans? How do you know all this? Do you honestly believe there are more humans inside this place? Wouldn't they pose a threat if there are?" asked a baffled Octsana who was now starting to question the Red Queen's motives and knowledge of the vault and what was in it.

"Relax Major. They are incased in pods like I was saying. I didn't give you and the rebels extra googles for nothing. The googles will be placed on the humans once they've been released out of their slumber. These goggles have been reprogrammed to run the frequency on the hypnowave emitter from my signal. Once they are under my influence, they will become a new addition to my army as well as the human weaponry stored away in that vault. We will be unstoppable! Plus another use of the humans will be... breeding purposes," reiterated the Red Queen.

Major Octsana's eyes widened and she felt mortified by what the Red Queen had told her. "B...B...Breeding purposes! My Queen I... have no idea what you're thinking... do you honestly the octarians would even have... intimacy with humans. It makes me sick to just think about it. With the inklings under our control and the valley turncoats defeated. Why in the world would we possibly need the humans for? Not to mention... for breeding... are you out of your mind!?" exclaimed Octsana who was now doubting the Red Queens initiatives.

"You've proven to me that revealing the final details of this operation was a mistake. My motives are clear and sober, I can assure you. The octarians and inklings have been the only two species that have dwelled on this planet for nearly a 1000 years. It was the humans that were here before us and the technology we've used from them. If we are to progress further than we must evolve not only our ways but our biology as well, major. To create a unified hybrid race of human, octarians, and inklings is to ensure that our civilization will continue to prosper and advance for the years to come. I've watched the octarians for too long become too dependent and too dubious. Our race will eventually die off and I'm sure the inklings eventually will too as unintelligent as they are," sneered the Red Queen.

Unaware to the major who was still shocked by the Red Queens plans. Blake and Izzy who had jumped on their octozeppelin as it took off the rebel base was watching them and when given the opportunity they sprang into action. The two of them jumped down and surprised the rebels. In utter and complete shock not expecting the two to appear the major turned around and dropped her phone. "Surprised to see me?" scoffed Blake. The rebels just stared at them unsure how to react until the major shook her head and snapped back into reality. "The fossil and that inkstain agent!" she shouted before pausing again.

"It ends here! You, Octavio, and the rebels are going down!" shouted Blake.

"What are you inkheads waiting for!? Splat the fossil and that inkstain!" ordered the major. The octolings quickly picked up their octoshots and aimed at the two agents. "Umm...Blake, you do know we're outnumbered. I hope you got a plan," said a concerned Izzy.

"Hasn't that been normal so far. We got this," said Blake with a grin. The two sides waiting for the other to make the next move but it just been a matter of time until Blake and Izzy's "luck" runs out.

Marina had been taken captive by the octo rebels before Octavio had invaded the city with his fleet of octozeppelins. Having no choice but to comply with the rebels or they would kill Melvin, she went with the rebels to aid them in getting inside the vault. She wasn't the only octoling that was forced to help them as another octoling, a male researcher by the name of Otto was also helping the rebels, due to for the exchange of the safety of his family. Otto had taken precious research from the lab as well as freeing the rebel prisoner from the Neo-Octarians. He was tinkering with the computer terminal outside the vault doors when Marina approached him.

"Alright you two! I want you to open these damn doors for us! You have an hour to do so and if the task is uncompleted by then... you'll be of no use to us and we'll splatter the both of you! Got it!" shouted the elite who was in command at the site.

They both nodded rapidly before turning to the terminal. "Good! Get busy," sneered the elite with her arms crossed.

"So what exactly is this place?" asked Marina.

"It's the vault. The rebels wanna get inside but I'm not sure what for? Ilm not too good when it comes to computers. They were expecting me to hack the system, because I can read human language, well some...so they forced me here or they would...kill my family, I had no choice," said Otto depressingly.

"That's terrible, I'm so sorry... like you, I had no choice. It was go with them or kill my friend," explained Marina.

"These bastards won't stop until we're all under their tentacles (sigh) so far I haven't been making any head way, maybe you can give it a try," said Otto as he turned to face Marina. His eyes widened when he recognized her. "Wait a minute...you're Marina, Marina Ida. You're that star prodigy back in the engineers before Octavio was defeated. You went missing after that," said Otto as he panned off.

"Yeah...that's me. I left to find a better life on the surface but now...here I am helping the octarians I wanted to get away from," said Marina. She turned toward the doors and looked at the logo on them. "So you said this was the vault. I've heard about it but never been here. Octavio and the octarian army have been trying to get inside this place but all their efforts failed in the process. They decided to stop the operation and focused on going to war with the inklings. That's when I was building weapons for them," said Marina.

"I've heard about you back when I a researcher for Octavio, you were a computer whiz too, pretty advance in your age. Is that why the rebels took you in?" asked Otto.

"Yeah... I guess you can say that but this is human technology we're dealing with, I'm not sure if I can hack into their system or not, especially this place," exclaimed Marina.

"Well we got no choice in the matter. It's get in or get reduced into puddles," said Otto.

"Quit yapping and start hacking!" demanded the elite who was growing tired of the two conversating.

"Ok, let me give a try then," said Marina as Otto moved out the way.

"The language is in human so I'll try and translate for you but as I said before. I know some human words but not a whole lot. I'll do my best... so far I've been winging it and haven't gotten myself locked out...thankfully if not luckily," said Otto.

"That's comforting I guess...let's hope that maybe we can get some headway. This is a human network so this could take some time if I can even get through the security measures," said Marina as she started typing away.

"For both of our sakes I hope you can," said Otto.

"You're not helping matters Otto," said Marina.

"Sorry...no pressure I'll just focus on translating for you then," said Otto.

Meanwhile, Captain Kova and her commandos were on their way to stop the rebels from getting inside the vault. They had just left the Neo-Octarian army HQ and were en route to the valley-canyon border where the vault was located. "Ma'am incoming message," said one of her octoling soldiers.

"Lieutenant Octillia, what is it now?" said the captain snidely.

"I needed to give you intel on the vault and about the researcher. As you're well aware of the situation. I need to bring up that the researcher is not to be harmed in anyway...if that's possible...and I DON'T APPRICIATE YOU GOING TO THE GENERAL OVER EVERYTHING THAT'S BEEN HAPPENING RECENTLY! You may out rank me but I won't put up with intel leaking unless I clear it! I'm still in charge of HQ Command and any and all intelligence that we have collected unless instructed to! You hear me Kova!" commanded the lieutenant who had all lost her patience with the captain.

"That's captain Kova to you lieutenant! Worried you're treading on thin ink with the general? Afraid you'll get demoted and someone elsemight take your place...not putting out any hints, by someone else...maybe, mwah. I'll do my job and you do yours...Octillia! I can't guarantee the safety of that researcher. After all he did change sides so when the ink starts flying, their is such a thing as collateral damage. I'll get back with once the mission is complete," said the captain as she cut the line.

"Damn it Kova! You are to..." started the lieutenant but the captain hung up on her. "(growl)...that...HUSSIE! Who does she think she is!? Just wait until she gets back!" shouted Octillia in anger as she pounded her fist on the counter. The other octolings flinched at her outburst and paused for a moment before continuing their duty. "Kova, that octo-winch. I'm not gonna let her get under my tentacles. I just hope she can get Ruby's guy back here for interrogation and a good ass kicking if he doesn't provide a good explanation for why he did what he did. I gotta step out for a moment and clear my thoughts. Watch the center and get in contact with me if something important comes up," she told an octoling before stepping out.

As Octillia left, the octolings looked at each other. "I've never seen her like that before," said one regular.

"Me neither. The captain really tugged her tentacles," said another one.

"Well none the less, I'm in charge until the lieutenant gets back. Let's just get off this subject and back to our stations. I've had enough drama for one day and I don't wanna hear anymore about it. I feel like I'm back at boot camp again. I have high regards for the lieutenant but she needs to show more restraint as well as do something about that problem of hers," said the sergeant.

"Oh her alcohol problem?" commented one of the regulars.

"Yes but that's for her to deal with. I just hope she get things under control. The general wasn't pleased with her management. I really don't wanna be under the captain's command. Dealing with her and I'll end up drinking like the lieutenant or shoot myself in the face with an octo shot. I'd get better company from an octostriker," said the sergeant.

As the group of octolings were chatting amongst each other. The captain and her team were getting closer to the vault. They would eventually land soon to avoid being spotted by the rebels and dismount on foot toward the vault. Using stealth, the argonauts, lead by captain Kova headed toward the vault until they got to a vantage point on a ridge overlooking the entrance of the human-built facility. Kova grabbed her binoculars and focused on the rebel group that were guarding the front of the vault. She spotted an octobomber overhead as well as an octosniper on a platform overlooking the area. The rebels were comprised of half octotroopers with twintacles in their command. The other half consisted of octolings with a few elites under their command. A couple of octostamp DX tanks were parked on the road leading to the entrance, watching the way toward the vault. As Kova looked around the entrance she spotted two figures that stood out among the rebels in front of a terminal.

"That must be the researcher in the lab coat but whose he talking to. She's not wearing a uniform but some kind of revealing get up. She could pass for an elite if weren't for that outfit...how disgraceful for an octoling to where such crap but she's not armed by what I can tell," said the captain.

"So what's the game plan captain?" asked one of her elites in the unit. "Do we go in and attack or try to do this like the way we came in, stealthy and take them by surprise?" she continued to ask.

"I little bit of both...we'll use our octosniper to pick off their octosniper as well as the octobomber, then let it start picking ground targets. I'll have two more elites up here provide covering fire for us and to guard the octosniper since it's so vital for our advantage over the enemy. The rest of us will sneak up closer towards their positions and get the drop on them once the octosniper takes down the first two targets. I'll have the inkzooka user take down the octostamp tanks before they move in on us and me and the octo shot users will take care of the rest. As per Octillia's order which I couldn't care. Is to ensure the safety of the researcher and as for the little flussie talking to him. If she draws a weapon. Shoot her as well. I want this quick and clean. Got it!" ordered the captain.

"Yes captain Kova!" a few said in unison.

"Right then. Everyone get into positions. I want you two and the octosniper over there to provide overwatch. Me and the rest will push closer toward their camp and hopefully deal with the tanks before they get a chance to respond once I give the signal to start picking off the targets. I want no screw ups! We get this done and return to base with out casualties and any incidents. I don't want the lieutenant screaming at me for botching this mission. She can go screw herself for all I care. Let's move," said the captain as she signaled for the elites to follow her as the octosniper and two elites got into position like she wanted them to.

Down below just before the captain and the elites with her were about to head down closer toward the rebel camp. A large armored van pulled in with rebels converging on the large vehicle. "Captain they have company," said one the commandos.

"hand me back the binoculars," ordered Kova as she looked through to see who the van was.

"Halt! State your business!" ordered one of the rebels with their weapons drawn.

"Get those weapons off me! This is Opal and I've come with something vital to the operation," shouted the defected researcher. She hopped out with a metal case as the other octoling rebels hopped out after her. Seeing this the other rebels lowered their weapons and led the octoling in the lab coat toward a large tent outside the entrance.

"That must the other defected researcher I heard about. How many more of these eggheads are going to turn and what was that metal case she was carrying? Let's hurry before anything happens," ordered the captain as they continued on toward the camp.

Marina and Otto turned to see what the commotion was and saw another octoling in a lab coat get out of a large armored van. "That's Opal but what is she...oh no, my case!" exclaimed Otto as he spotted the metal container in her hand.

"You know her? and what do you mean your case?" asked Marina.

'She's the real defector. She sided with rebels without our knowledge. She's caused a lot of trouble and got my family captured so I could be forced to work for them but they found the case I had hidden in my apartment," said a stressed Otto.

"What's in it? She we be worried?" asked Marina again.

Opal opened the case and grabbed a vial full of green liquid inside it. "What is that?" asked an octoling rebel.

"This is the future. The Red Queen wants this pronto but first we need to get in the vault," said Opal.

The rebels looked inside the case and scrounged through the paperwork but they were unable to read it so they tossed it aside until they spotted a picture of a human. "Who's this? It appears to be a human," said a rebel.

"Give me that!" demanded Opal as she snatched it away from the rebel before the rebel growled at her. "Where's the data on the human fossils?" she asked.

The rebels shrugged and she then turned to Otto. "Where's the data you were supposed to retrieve?" demanded Opal. Otto just shot her a glare. "Where...is...that...data?" she asked again growing impatient.

"Ink off," Otto replied.

"Hmpf...fine...search him!" ordered Opal as the rebels grabbed Otto. The went through his pockets until they found the octopus-shaped flash drive and pushed Otto down as Marina helped him up.

"That's it," said Opal as she was handed the drive.

"What do we need data on fossils for?" asked the rebel indifferently.

"Patience... The Red Queen has informed me that the data on the fossils is required once we get inside. She mentioned something about a new army. We just have to go through these documents and hopefully maybe find a password or someway to get past the security system," explained Opal. She then turned back to Otto who was still shooting her a glare as he was being held by the rebels in front of her. "Sorry I had to get you dragged into all this Otto but you're the only one I could get to that could read human language so I'm needing you expertise," she said with a false apology.

"No you're not and don't expect me to help you," said Otto with a scowl.

"Oh you will help or should I make call, you do wanna see your family in one piece don't you?" said Opal as she pulled out her phone.

Otto scowl turned to pure distress. "No wait! I'll help you get inside just keep my family out of this," exclaimed Otto. The Rebel shoved him down and pointed her weapon at him.

"Now start going through that paperwork. Hold out on us or lie then so help me, next time I will make a call," said Opal. She then turned toward Marina who had watched the two and was quite concerned over Otto's situation. "And as for you...I expect you to use those hacking skills of yours, Marina Ida and yes I know who you are. It's a shame you deserted the army Lieutenant Ida. You would've made a fine addition for our cause," said Opal with a snide grin.

"I left the army because of people like you and Octavio...I went to the surface to start a new life and made friends with an inkling, someone who actually cares about me. I don't know how you and the rest of these jaded octopi can't see that Octavio doesn't care about you. You're nothing but pawns. Octavio's only interested in taking the surface no matter how many octarians it takes. He only cares about power and staying in control. Lording over his people when were in our bleakest time when the domes were running out of power," ranted Marina.

"How dare you disrespect Octavio, especially coming from a former soldier who lost their dignity and who has befriended an inkling. Consider yourself very fortunate to standing in front of us. If it weren't for your gifted skills then you would've done been reduced to an ink puddle by now but once the door to the vault is open. We'll see how much more longer you can count your lucky stars. Don't bank on being around much longer...unless you serve your allegiance to the rebels then maybe you'll stay alive," said Opal.

"I'll never join you...you can count on that. I know somebody will eventually catch wind of what you and the rebels are doing and stop you," said Marina.

"I wouldn't worry too much as of now Octavio and the fleet should have total control of Inkopolis and the inklings under our influence. As for your friend... not sure about her fate. If your hopeful maybe she's a servant by now," sneered the octoling.

"Leave Pearl out of this! The inklings will stop you and Octavio will be defeated again!" shouted Marina. "Theirs's one thing you left out as well... the human. I know if the inklings couldn't stop the rebels then the human could," continued Marina.

"Ah yes... the human. You're right buuuut... we have something in store for him too. The Red Queen has plans for that fossil and that's why we required the data from the lab. We've dug up quite a bit of information on the vault. You see Otto isn't the only one that can read human writing. The Red Queen is quite fluent herself as well as speaking human too. Our intel on the vault tells us that Blake isn't the only human alive. We found out this facility is housing more humans in pods like that human with the inklings was found in. Their is somehow a connection between the underground domes, this place as well as the fossils we dug up and that human as well. And it gets better, not only is this place housing humans but also...human weaponry," said Opal.

"More humans! Weaponry! What does the Red Queen want with the humans!?" fretted Marina as Otto froze at what Opal had just revealed.

"A new army," replied Opal plainly. "We plan on releasing them and placing our googles on them. These goggles have been redesigned like the hypnoshades to cause the user to submit to our commands. Once the humans are under our influence like the inklings...we'll be unstoppable and the surface will belong to the octarians... after the valley has been conquered of course. Those turncoats will have no choice but to surrender or die fighting. The empress will be dethroned and the Red Queen will take her place," explained Opal.

"Wait...what of Octavio? Why the Red Queen?" asked Marina.

"Octavio will have served his purpose and someone else will take the queen's hand..." replied Opal.

"Who?" asked Marina.

"She won't tell us but as of now, I trust she'll do as she has promised and a new Octorian empire will rise out of the ashes of the old and the promised land will be fulfilled," explained Opal.

"Promised land but that's just an old fable. There is no promised land...the Red Queen has you duped in believing she could turn a fantasy into reality. I don't know whose crazier...Octavio or the Red Queen. Either way they're nothing but control freaks bent on controlling you and feeding their egos," exclaimed Marina as she crossed her arms.

"You best shut your mouth deserter. Don't think you're totally essential for our plan. Once we get past the security measures it's just a roll of the dice to see if we need you or not. Now get back to working on that terminal!" commanded Opal.

Hearing all of this. Kova and the commandos who had moved closer to the camp were close enough to hear everything the group said. "This is...unbecoming. Humans? Weaponry? This promised land? I can't fathom the thought of these terrorists creating a new army with...humans. This Red Queen had to be stopped at all cost. We can't let them get inside the vault. Team 1, we'll move up and get into positions while team 2 with the octosniper will starting picking off targets on my signal. Once the rebel's sniper and octobomber are down we start inking the rebel forces around the vault so watch your fire and try not to hit the friendly researcher or that octoling in the outfit but if they manage to get the vault doors open. It's all or nothing no matter if those two get hit or not. Stopping them is a priority and we can't let them get inside the vault, no matter the costs!" commanded Captain Kova. She and some elites moved to ambush positions and readied themselves for the attack.

A turn of events had prompted Cassie and Cuttlefish's mission status to become deterred and now their progress was uncertain. Cassie was subdued by Xavier, Cleo's boyfriend who shortly revealed their goal to lure the two inklings into the metro and be rewarded the promised land after their tests were finished and the couple were soon no longer needed to guide the two through the stations down below Inkopolis. Cuttlefish on the other hand had the mysterious phone crash down on top of him after getting frustrated by the incessive calling by an unrevealing figure on the other line. What has become the fate of our two heroes and what more will the two endure before the find the truth of the mysterious company known as Kamabo and why were they were needing to conduct tests for the octoling and inkling couple?

It had been hours since Cassie finally woke up and found herself in a large chamber with a nauseating feeling in her stomach from the shock that Xavier gave her. She couldn't recall what had happened prior to her blacking out on the subway. "(groan) What the shell happened? Where am I?" she asked herself. Her eyesight cleared as she looked around and saw a figure standing about 8 feet away from her. It was Cleo holding her hero shot in one hand with her splattershot pro in the other pointed Cassie. The inkling agent soon remembered about the incident on the train before blacking out. "Cleo!? I remember now. Where's that octoling boyfriend of yours so I can kick the ink out of both of you!" she shouted angrily as she stood up with her fist clinched. Cleo steadily kept her splattershot pro on Cassie.

"I'm assuming we aren't friends anymore. Xavier went back to the labs per orders from Tartar and as for you on the other hand have some tests to finish," said Cleo.

"You think I'm going to keep playing this little game of yours. Not a chance on your tentacles! This ends here Cleo. You and Xavier are going to answering for everything that's been happening and why you're working with Kamabo. What makes you think I'll keep being your lap squid for this these dumb tests. Sorry to disappoint you but I'm not doing this anymore. So I suggest you tell your boss Tartar that I'm not inclined to do your bidding," said Cassie who refused to follow Cleo's request.

Cleo gave a half smile as she stared at Cassie. "Not willing to compete huh? Well maybe this will motivate you. You're going to do as I say unless...well, let's just say you weren't the only one that crashed. Seems the old geezer got knocked out himself but don't worry Xavier took him back to the labs," sneered Cleo.

"Huh? Where's Cuttlefish? What have done with the captain?!" exclaimed Cassie as she stopped and demanded what she had done with her commander.

"Relax Cass! He's fine or at least after getting over that conk to the head anyway," replied Cleo as Cassie bared her fangs at Cleo for harming Cuttlefish.

"Cleo, once I get out of this mess they'll be no place to run; you can count on that! You're going to regret us even saving your ass from Camper. I'm going to splat you and that octoling boyfriend of yours the first time your guards are down!" Cassie said in and aggressive tone as she glared down Cleo.

"Hmpf... you're not in the shape to make threats. Not to mention with that old squid I'm hanging over you. So I suggest you comply and continue the tests. Don't think I'll give Xavier the choice to do in that dried up old squid. I've watched you long enough to know you care about your friends and being a squidbeak... you wouldn't jeopardize their lives. So get kraken! You've got stations to complete," sneered Cleo as she tossed her hero shot back to Cassie. "I'll be seein' ya," she said with slight glee before squid jumping out sight and vanishing on a balcony up above.

"That squid's gonna get hers as soon as I'm done. I can't believe she would do this to us after what we've done for her. Saving her from Camper and taking her to the hospital. (deep breath) Get it together Cass. I gotta save the captain... but... what was that promised land that octoling was going on before? And who's Tartar?" she asked herself before moving on down the chamber. As she got in the center of the giant room. A large Kamabo logo was etched into the floor. Cassie looked around and spotted multiple structures and obstacles. "So... I wonder what I'll be doing now as if I really wanna ask," she commented. A loud buzz filled the room and a giant eight ball fell from the ceiling, almost landing on Cassie as she dove out of the way.

Cassie recovered and got up. She turned and stared at the giant eight ball. "What's this thing?" she asked.

"Get the eight ball to it's goal before the timer runs out! Fail the test and you will be sent back to the starting position to restart the test over!" shouted a static voice over the intercom. "Use your weapon to move the eight ball around the arena but be advised obstacles have been placed to hinder you're challenge. Best of luck," it continued.

The arena was in the shape of a pinball game with bumpers and ramps. At the far end of the arena was the goal for the eight ball that was obstructed by two pinball paddles to keep the ball from reaching the goal. Cassie had to shoot the ball with her ink to move it around while trying to direct it away from the bumpers that would launch the ball from reaching the goal. Cassie would have to keep herself from getting squashed by the ball by shooting it or getting out of its path. Cassie feared that this challenge was much more difficult than the last one. She gulped and approached the ball. Another buzz caused Cassie to jerk and the voice shouted "Begin test!".

The timer started and Cassie shot the ball forward, guiding it toward the goal. She was half way there and the test didn't seem as hard as she thought it was. She allowed the ball to roll forward as she charged herself for a kick to deliver the 8 ball to the goal but one of the paddles knocked it back and launched it back at Cassie. She yelped and squid jumped out of the path of the careening giant ball as it slammed into a bumper launching it again toward the wall and deflecting back toward Cassie. The agent again evaded the ball as it rolled past her until it slowed down after hitting the wall.

"Holy squid! That was close!" exclaimed Cassie as she got up. Time was steadily running out and Cassie had to think of a strategy to get the ball into the goal. Cassie got behind the 8 ball and shot it toward the goal again. Like before the paddle knocked it back and instead of dodging the giant pool ball. She shot at it, causing it to slow down as she attempted another try at getting it into the goal. It was now 30 seconds until the time ran out and the inkling agent still hadn't managed to get the 8 ball to its goal. As the paddles struck the ball it bounced off a bumper so hard that it was launched in mid air. As it came back down, Cassie jumped out of its way just in time as it rolled toward the goal again. Cassie rushed behind shooting at it causing the giant ball to gain speed but as it approached the paddles. Cassie shot at one the paddles causing it to jam from her ink and allow an opening. Cassie stopped and rushed behind the ball as she leapt into the air and kicked it toward goal. "HIGH-YAH!" she shouted as she kicked it.

"A loud buzz filled the chamber followed by that voice again. "Round 1 complete!" It shouted.

"Hold on, round 1...you mean the test isn't finished?" said an annoyed Cassie.

"Return to the center of the arena to begin round 2," the voice commanded.

"Round...2, (groan) You got to be squiddin' me! (deep breath) just splat me," said Cassie as she fell on the floor.

Half an hour earlier...

After Cassie was subdued she was dragged out of the car and toward the rear where the two inklings would've left the train. She took lead and the two stepped off with Cassie's body in tow. Cleo looked around until something caught her eye if not spooked her. It was Cuttlefish lying on the platform. "What's wrong babe?" asked Xavier as looked out to see what Cleo stopped for.

"It's the old squid. I wonder what happened?" asked Cleo.

"Maybe he tripped or something," said Xavier.

"I don't think so. Looks like something hit him in the head," said Cleo as she examined Cuttlefish's body.

Just then something lingered near by and the two of them turned to see the phone standing aside from them. "Tartar? What are doing here?" asked Cleo shocked to see the phone.

"Examining your progress, BEEP BEEP BZZZTTT... Assessment... Recalculating initiative... Bring the subject down to the labs... while the other to the next station... BEEP BEEP..." ordered the phone in a robotic voice.

"What do we need with him?" asked Xavier.

"To run more tests... No further questions... BZZZTTT... continue progress," the phone replied.

Cleo and Xavier looked at each as the octoling just shrugged. "I guess you bring the agent to the next test and I'll take the old geezer down to the labs... not sure why but if that's what Tartar wants," complied Xavier as he took Cuttlefish's body and Cleo took Cassie's.

"More tests? Not sure what for? I'll just be glad when this is all over," said Cleo slightly irritated as she grabbed Cassie and Xavier packed Cuttlefish back onto the train to head down toward the labs as the phone commanded.

Somewhere deeper in the metro at a disclosed area. Cuttlefish was lying on the floor, who had just slowly awoken from getting clobbered by the phone he got annoyed with. He looked around and rubbed his head. "Where in the kraken am I?" he asked himself. He grabbed his cane laying beside him and stood up. He noticed he was in a small room. The room had a couple of chairs and some kind of charts and diagrams fixed on the wall that was in human english. He looked around and spotted a doorway on the side with a narrow window. He slowly opened it and by chance it wasn't locked. He stepped out and examined the hallway that led out with multiple doors on each side. At the end was a pair of double doors with the words authorized personnel only, unfortunately he couldn't read. He slowly walked up until he reached the doors. They were locked unlike the door to the room he was in. A card scanner was embedded in the wall with red light signifying it was locked. "Hmm... wonder where this leads? The only thing I can recall is having that phone land on my noggin. I wonder how I ended up in this place. I need to find the lass," said Cuttlefish.

Cuttlefish turned around and was deciding what door to go through. He would eventually go to the closest door on the left. He opened and inside appeared to be a small office. The sign on the door read Dr. Carter Research Head. Cuttlefish looked around and saw a bed on the other side of the room as well a desk on his right and bookshelf across from it. The room was all white and a picture laid on the desk of what appeared to be a human family. Cuttlefish picked it up and looked at the humans. He looked then he froze as he noticed that a young male in the photo looked vaguely familiar.

"Bucko?" replied Cuttlefish as it was Blake standing beside his mom, dad, and sister in the photo. Cuttlefish slowly laid the picture frame back down. "Could that be his family? But what is it doing here?" he asked. Something on the other side of the desk caught Cuttlefish's eye. It appeared to a shiny disk in a case. He grabbed it and studied the disc. "This looks like one of them their music...oh what do them youngins' call it. I remember Octavio collecting these back before the war, when we were friends. Wonder what's on it?" Cuttlefish asked.

Cuttlefish looked around and didn't see anything the disc could go in. He sat on the bed and pondered on Blake and the photo on the desk. "Bucko...I wish you were here. I made have made a mistake bringing the lass down here. That photo tells me that maybe you do have something to do with Kamabo. I... won't believe you have anything to do with this...It's that purple headed whipper-snapper that lured us down here... but why? (deep sigh)" Cuttlefish asked himself desperately looking for answers to his dilemma.

He got off the bed and headed out the door after staring at Blake and his family's photo. Cuttlefish was having conflicting thoughts about what Cleo had said and how the photo turned up in the room. As he started to turn the knob he could footsteps go down the hall toward the double doors. He waited for the figure to walk by as he slowly cracked the door open to see that it was Xavier the octoling boy who had ran a card through the door scanner. The scanner beeped and the light turned green. Xavier opened the door and stepped inside. The door closed behind and locked again. "Is that an octoling? I wonder what he could be up to?" Cuttlefish asked. He tried to open the door but it was no use.

He spotted a vent in the ceiling and thought to himself that the duct may lead inside the next room. Cuttlefish attempted to jump up but hurt his hip in the process as he braced himself against his cane, "Gettin' too old for all this. Let's see...maybe I should try and squid jump up there. It's been so long since I've done that. Hope I still can," said Cuttlefish. He focused and after a moment he finally changed into a squid like all inklings do. He squid jumped and launched up, knocking himself into the vent and aggravating the bump on his head from the prior injury. He rubbed his head once he changed back. "Great balls of ink! That smarts!" shouted Cuttlefish as he jeered from the hit. He crawled through the duct until he fell out of a vent in the room behind the double doors.

He moaned and slowly sat up. Looking around the room was very large compared to the last two and full of computer equipment and monitors. "Where did that octoling go?" Cuttlefish wondered not seeing the octoling boy anywhere. He walked around and saw no signs of life. "I'm pretty sure I saw that octoling come in here. He could've just disappeared," said Cuttlefish. A shadowed shape slithered between the computers and vanished leaving a trail of purple ink. Cuttlefish looked and stayed cautious knowing he wasn't alone in the large room. The ink trail vanished and the sound of coughing could be heard around the corner of one of the large computers. He spotted the octoling bent over coughing up some kind of green liquid as he left a tiny splash mark on the floor before wiping his mouth.

"I just gotta hold on a little more. Tartar said their may be side effects but I didn't think it would be that bad. Oh my head is throbing," said the octoling as held his head. The boy paused for a moment to collect himself. Cuttlefish slowly backed away before he was spotted. He backed up and as he turned he was met by the octoling who knew he was in the room. "YAH!" shouted Cuttlefish not expecting the octoling behind him. He fell to the floor and looked up as Xavier glared at him. "You shouldn't be here you old squid," he commented, unhappy to see Cuttlefish.

"You wiflle-waffle! What's the big idea scaring me out of my tentacles!" ranted Cuttlefish as he waved his fist at the boy.

"Well if some old geezer wasn't sneaking around then I guess that wouldn't have happened would it. What are you doing here!?" demanded Xavier.

"I should ask you the same thing octoling and watch how you respect your elders you whipper-snapper!" snapped Cuttlefish as he got up.

"I'll keep that in mind. Now tell me what are you..." started Xavier as he spotted a case poking out of Cuttlefish's jacket. "What is that?" asked Xavier.

"Huh?" replied Cuttlefish as Xavier pointed at the exposed case. "It's nothing that would concern you octopus," sneered Cuttlefish.

"Hand it over, that's Kamabo property and won't allow you to take it," demanded Xavier.

"This do-hicky? Oh you want it? Well here take it!" shouted Cuttlefish as he threw the disc across the room. Xavier panicked and octo formed to catch the disc before it got damaged. Cuttlefish scurried to get away and exit the large room before Xavier caught him. He was nearing the double doors until he was tackled from behind by Xavier in his octo form. Cuttlefish fell on his stomach as Xavier changed back and pulled the old inkling up. "I ought to kick your ass you dried up squid," sneered Xavier.

"Do your worst octoling. I don't know what you're doing down here but I can assure that my agent will stop you and this company if you plan on harming the inklings in any way," said Cuttlefish sternly.

"Hmpf... you don't get it do you. I have no intent on harming the inklings. My girlfriend is an inkling and we plan on leaving here for the promised land. Inkling society will never accept us and I'm not going back underground to suffer with the rest of brethren. I could care less about Inkopolis. There's greener pastures to be had...literally," scoffed Xavier as he grabbed Cuttlefish.

"What are you blabbering on about you... wait, inkling girlfriend. Are you the?" asked Cuttlefish as he realized who he was.

"Yeah. Finally figured it out huh? I'm Cleo's boyfriend...and I won't have you and that inkling girl ruin our plans! I think it's time you saw the light of things. Then maybe you'll understand and order that agent of yours to stand down and allow our plans to continue," said Xavier as he led Cuttlefish toward a large machine at the end of the room. Cuttlefish struggled but couldn't get away from the octoling.

"Whatever it is you're planning. I won't no part of! You and that purpled-headed lass will be stopped!" ranted Cuttlefish as he struggled.

"I doubt it squid... Now time for you to see the truth," replied Xavier.

"Truth? What do you plan on doing to me?" exclaimed Cuttlefish as they were getting closer to the machine.

"You'll see soon enough," sneered Xavier as he took the disc out of its case and inserted it into the machine. The machine beeped and the doors slid open. Inside was a pod surrounded by grid-like walls. The pod was at a slant and inside was a chair and a monitor that hung over head. "Let me go! You confound octopus!" demanded Cuttlefish as he was being guided to the pod.

"Cool it squid! This will be over soon enough," said Xavier. Cuttlefish managed to break from Xavier's grasp and pulled his cane up, revealing it to be an old bamboozler. He shot toward Xavier and struck him in the chest as he fell on his back on the floor. "I still got! Didn't want to that but he left me no choice," said Cuttlefish as he laid his bamboozler down to use it as a cane again. He walked over to Xavier's body and noticed that the octoling didn't splat from contact. "Huh... I guess it was just enough to knock the lad cold," said Cuttlefish but then Xavier's eyes opened. They were grey with green eerie irises. He bared his fangs and quickly stood up.

"What in the kraken!" shouted Cuttlefish as he had noticed the boy's skin was turning color too. He quickly grabbed Cuttlefish and slung him into the chair and closed the pod. "I'll make sure you won't get the drop on me again squid!" said Xavier. His voiced had changed and he seemed stronger than before. Cuttlefish banged on the glass of the pod door and the monitor swung in front of Cuttlefish. "Begin VR program," it read on the screen. "Get me out of this blasted device you darn octopus!" shouted Cuttlefish. He saw the octoling just give a malicious grin before walking away.

Cuttlefish struggled to get out but a sleep gas filled the pod and the old inkling lost his strength as he fell out from the gas. "Initiating Program Homecoming. Welcome Dr. Carter" the voice in the pod said. Cuttlefish was deep in slumber until a bright light obscured his vision. Cuttlefish was laying in what appeared to a grassy area. He quickly sat up and opened his eyes. "(deep gasp) W...What's going on!? Where am I?" panicked Cuttlefish as he looked at his settings. It was clear he wasn't in the large computer filled room anymore. The surroundings were unfamiliar if not alien to Cuttlefish. He felt the grass under his hands and quickly got up. Confused to where he was and how he got there. Around him looked like some of neighborhood, possibly some kind of suburban setting. He watched a car drive down the street and then spotted a figure walking down the sidewalk. It was neither inkling, octoling nor any kind of oceanic but a human. "W...Where...the shell am I?" said Cuttlefish flabbergasted at the settings. He saw trees, houses, vehicles and even started seeing more humans.

He panicked and hid into a nearby bush as another car drove past. "I need to figure what's going on. All I remember is that octoling stuffing me into that contraption and now I'm here...wherever here is," exclaimed Cuttlefish. He watch some human kids playing in the street and a woman unloading groceries out her car in a driveway. "I thought the humans were extinct. I can't be back in Inkopolis. What's going on?" he asked himself still baffled by where he was. He heard a couple of voices on the other side of a tall wooden fence near him. One of the voices sounded familiar. "That can't be," said Cuttlefish as he walked out and jumped up to grab the top of the fence. He looked over and saw a figure that caused him to fall down in shock as he sat on the ground in disbelief. "I thought I saw Blake...but that can't be," said Cuttlefish as he got up. he peered through one of the cracks in the fence and watched a pair of young humans in the backyard of a home. He heard the young female call his name Blake and Cuttlefish was still stunned to see his human friend standing on the other side of the fence.

"It is the bucko! What's he doing here? But what am I doing here? This doesn't make any sense," said Cuttlefish before peering through the crack again. He watched Blake sit down on a bench and play on a portable gaming system. "Maybe the lad has some answers. He'll no what's going on. I'm sure he'll be glad to see me," said Cuttlefish as he squid formed and hopped over the fence. He hid behind a tree until the young girl went back inside and swam over to Blake in his squid form. He got beside once they were alone and changed back. "Bucko! It's me! Ole' captn' Cuttlefish," said Cuttlefish gleefully. Blake didn't pay him no mind and continued playing on the gaming system.

"Huh? Bucko? Aren't you listening to me? It's me Cuttlefish. Where am I?" he asked Blake again. Blake still ignoring the old inkling.

"Lad! pay attention and get off that thing! I need to know what's going on!" shouted Cuttlefish as he waved his hand over Blake's face. Blake didn't respond and kept playing. "Lad?" replied Cuttlefish wondering why the human wasn't paying him no mind. A voice jerked Cuttlefish up. "Blake! Come in for a minute!" an older female voice shouted.

"Ok...coming mom!" shouted back Blake. But the strangest thing happened. As Cuttlefish stood there intent on getting Blake's attention. "Bucko! Stop! I need to ask..." said Cuttlefish as he attempted to grab Blake's hand only for it to phase through him. "What the..." responded Cuttlefish. He was mesmerized on what just happened. He stared back at Blake who was entering the house. "Am I...dreaming?" Cuttlefish asked himself. He sat on the bench Blake was sitting on wondering what was going on. He looked around, examining his surroundings. "Am I... in the world when it was inhabited by humans?" asked Cuttlefish.

Cuttlefish closed his eyes for moment and contemplated how he got there. He thought to himself that he had to be dreaming but the dream felt more real than anything he had ever been through. He opened his eyes and saw he was still in the yard. He needed to find answers so he got up and followed Blake inside the house to see what else he would see. Cuttlefish didn't realize he was inside a very advance VR program designed by the company as a means to comfort the users into the world they once lived in and remembered since the company was created by humans after all but where were the human occupants of the secret underground facility Cuttlefish had awoken into and what was the promised land Xavier was going on about? What was his and Cleo's plans and what did it have to do with Kamabo? What was the strange green liquid that came out of Xavier's body and why did his appearance change after forcing Cuttlefish into the VR Pod? So many unanswered questions and will Cassie complete the deepsea metro stations that Cleo was forcing her to compete in? Keep reading and find out.
