Author's note: Hello again! After the end of that philosophic chapter, we go back here again in the living side, what is Kanade going to do?"

Meeting with Igarashi
And so Kanade decides to have a meeting with her neighbor, Igarashi-san.
Note: I have edited chapter 12. For those who still didn't read the edited version, go there first!
But first, she has to wait until the time when Igarashi just gets back home.
Today is too late for that, after she was back from the wedding it was already around 6 P.M. Sum that with the hour she spent searching for information on the internet that makes it a late 7 P.M.
"I will talk to Igarashi-san tomorrow to find out whether he was in that train accident or not." She murmurs to herself as she prepares to go to sleep. Yes, it is a little early but she is quite tired from attending the wedding and then searching the internet for information so she decides to go to sleep early today to relax her mind from exhaustion.
'It is those emotions' fault that I am so tired today, what with that anyway? What happened between me and the boy who supposed to be death 20 years ago?' She sees no connection between her and the boy who was death 20 years ago at all. So how could she know him? Why was he in her dream?
Those are the questions she would not find the answers anytime soon. She thinks about them as she falls asleep…

And finally the day comes. Today Kanade decides she will confront Igarashi-san and ask whether he was a survivor of the train accident. After making sure she is well prepared she set off from her house.
…
…
…
*Knock* *Knock* *Knock*
"Yes, I'm coming!" The voice comes from the house.
And at the next moment, the door is opened.
"Oh? You are…" The middle-aged man says after opening the door.
"Good day, Igarashi-san, I'm from the next door, Tachibana desu." Kanade answers.
"Oh, so you are Tachibana-san's daughter? What do you want? Come in." The man urges her to enter the house.
Kanade complies.
After she sits down at a table and is served a tea, the man begins. "So, what is your business here, Tachibana-san?"
"Umm… this may sound weird, but are you a survivor from the train accident around 20 years ago?"
"…"
Igarashi goes silent at her question.
"…"
"…"
The silence lasts for a while before the man breaks it.
"…Is there any point in asking me about that?"
"…So do you mean you are?" Kanade asks hopefully.
"…Yes, I am. But I can't tell you the details if you don't tell me first why you want to know about the accident." The man states his intention.
"…"
Kanade stays silent for a while, deciding what she should do.
In the end though, she comes to a conclusion that being honest is the best so she says, "It is just that I want some more information about the boy name Otonashi Yuzuru in the accident."
"!" Igarashi's expression changes when she mentions the boy.
"…Why do you want to know about him?" Igarashi asks
That question makes Kanade thinks hard again. She is not sure what she should reply to the man. Being honest? About having he as her groom in a dream? No way! So after a while she decides not to say the truth, but still she won't lie either.
"I'm just a little curious after I read the news about him, and when I saw your name in the list of the survivors, I just know I have to ask you." She is not lying, she just omit the fact that she has been having a dream about the boy.
"…You read the news about him? Isn't that the news from about 20 years ago?" Igarashi continues to ask, puzzled.
"…Well, I just happened to come across it when I just entering random websites on the internet." Kanade replies. It is the truth though; she came across it when entering random websites when she searched "Otonashi Yuzuru" in her search engine.
"I see…" The man nods.
"So could you please tell me about the accident?" Kanade asks.
"…" Igarashi stares at her in silent for a while before he begins.
"He was an incredible man, Otonashi Yuzuru." That is the first sentence he speaks about the boy Otonashi Yuzuru.
After he says that, he once again thinks back at what happened in the accident.

No one will come save us in time.
That was my thought as I was lying on the ground, barely survived.
I wondered if I had led a fulfilling live? Would my parents be sad if I died here?
I was thinking about those questions when I heard someone calling me.
"I-Igarashi… d-do you have a pen?" The voice said.
I know the owner of that voice; it's my friend, Otonashi.
"Yes." I responded to him as I found a pen in my shirt's pocket
I gave him the pen, but I still looked in his direction, curious at what he would do.
I saw him took out a card...
'That card is…' I thought as I watched the man.
He circled all organs in the card.
Yes, that card is an organ donor card.
"I swear…" I said after I had seen him signed his name on the card.
'You really are something, Otonashi. Even in the last moment, when I have given up all hope, you still ended up giving me one.'
I also decided to take out my own organ donor card.
Getting another pen out, I circled the organs on the card.
"What are you doing?" A curious voice asked me.
"If you sign this, even if by some reason you die, your life…" I paused, trying to find strength to say the following words, "…your life can be used to help another. You can save someone. Give you meaning to your life."
When they heard me, they were all also bringing out their organ donor card.
Copying me and Otonashi, they circled the organs on the card and signed their name.
I turned back to my friend, I have words to say to him, "You know, you really are amazing, Otonashi." I paused before continue, "Just look, they were in a pit of despair, but now they are trying to give hope to others."
Even if my throat was dry, I couldn't stop yet. There were still words I had to say to my friend.
"You saved every one of our life, Otonashi." Yes, that was what I had to say.
"We owe you," I continued.
I waited for a while, hoping to get a respond from my friend.
"Hey, Otonashi?" I said after I didn't hear his respond.
Don't tell me…
"Hey… Otonashi!" I called him desperately.
"Can you hear me?!" I said again.
That was when the light came. They had found us…
But I couldn't really pay attention to it right now; there was something more important that got my attention.
Moments later the card and the pen dropped from his hand.
"Otonashi!" I cried in anguish.
The man, Otonashi Yuzuru, he didn't make it.

"Before we continue the conversation, would you like to go somewhere with me?" Igarashi asks after he finished reminiscing what happened at the accident.
"Going somewhere?" Kanade asks a little confused.
"Yes, there is a place I have to show you before we can continue our talk." The man explains.
After nodding in understand, even if she actually doesn't understand anything, she follows the man out of the house without drinking the tea served for her.
"Ok, so let us begin." The man says while walking. Seems like he want to talk while they are walking to the place he wants to show her.
"I first met him at the accident. He was a boy about the same age as mine, and we could be called friends." He says as he continues to lead her to the place.
"He had some medical knowledge, so he was very helpful in that accident; he could easily first aid the wounded."
"He was our leader; he was the one who gave us hope." He continues.
"Even at the very end of his life, he showed me one final miracle! He was really an amazing man."
"I-Igarashi… d-do you have a pen?" That question rings in his mind again as he thinks about the final miracle of the man.
"Before he died, he had signed a card donating his organs to someone else, to preserve the lives of others," Igarashi pauses to find the strength to say the next words, "Even after death, he still was able to save someone." He ends it with heart touching words.
"We are here, this is the place." He stops walking.
Kanade looks around at the place.
'This place is…'
"As you can see it, this place is a tombstone, his tombstone." After saying that, Igarashi crouches down so his eyes could be at the same level at the tombstone.
"Long time no see, huh, my friend." He speaks to the tombstone.
"I'm sorry I have not come here in so long. Today, I bring another person to meet you, her name is Tachibana. She is curious about you, you see." After that he pays respect to the tombstone.
When seeing the man pays respect to the tombstone, Kanade follows suit. She bows deeply at the tombstone.
"Is this…" She asks after waiting for Igarashi to pray for a while.
"Yes, this is the tombstone of a man known as Otonashi Yuzuru, His resting place." He responds after finish praying.
"I see." Kanade nods, looking intently at the tombstone.
'This is the place that the soul of the boy in my dream resides…'
As she was thinking that, Igarashi continues.
"Well, I suppose that was all of the story, do you have any questions?" He asks kindly.
"No, I don't." Kanade replies absent-mindedly as she looks at the tombstone.
But no matter how long she looks at it, nothing triggers her memories.
'So it is another dead end, huh? I got nothing out of this except from knowing a little more about the boy.'
"Oh, by the way!" Igarashi begins when he remembers something important that he has not told her yet.
"This is something I heard later on, but apparently his heart was donated to a girl name Tachibana Kanade."
"!" Kanade is shocked.
Now she understands a little more how she and the boy could be related.
But still… any of her memories have not come back yet.
"Oh, you are also a Tachibana, right? What is your given name? I haven't heard it yet."
"…It's Kanade."
"…E-eh? W-what a crazy coincidence, isn't it? It is nice talking with you, Kanade-chan. And also…"
Kanade is forced to listen to Igarashi's rambling for a while before she is finally let off.
The number of questions in her mind only keeps increasing, with no answers that could answer them.
'What exactly is the connection between me and that boy, Otonashi Yuzuru?'
That is the question she wants answer the most but it seems like she wouldn't find the answer anytime soon, but as long as she continues her research… Someday, for sure, she would certainly know the answer.
Done with it!
How is it, the conversation between Kanade and Igarashi?
By the way, I would suggest you should read "How we're remembered" on this site. It's a very good canon about Igarashi.
