Angel Player's history 1
"So, what will you do, Otonashi-san?" Although Haruka said that she left it to Yuzuru, she has no idea what can he does. From their time together, it is obvious that Yuzuru is not that good at computer. So it makes her curious what he is going to do.
"You still don't know? I have said it before, right?" Yuzuru smirks, thinking that the girl is not so invincible after all.
Well, in the first place, if she was invincible, she should be able to solve the password problem. So it is obvious that she is not invincible.
"Said it before…" Haruka repeats.
She thinks about it for a while before finally resigning herself to asking, "What is it?"
"There is a program left behind by our Afterlife Battlefront's programmer, Takeyama," He reveals.
Haruka widens her eyes in surprise and then says, "Did you mean…"
"Yes, I meant that the program is for cracking passwords, duh," Yuzuru says it as if it is obvious.
Well, it is obvious.
"I see! Then let hurry up! I am dying to know what written there!" Haruka says excitingly.
"Yes, yes, my mistress," Yuzuru says with an amused voice.

"So now we finally did it, huh?" Yuzuru says as the words "access accepted" appears on the computer.
"Good work, Otonashi-san. I take back my words; you really did a huge contribution this time," Haruka smiles as she says so.
"No, it is not me. It is all because of my old friend that we were able to do this," Yuzuru smiles nostalgically.
"Whatever! Now let us read how the program was created!" Haruka says powerfully as she clicks "next".
After that, what written there stunts them.

Good day to you, users of my Angel Player.
You did well to make it this far. I had made some tricks to make sure that it would be a challenge for the ones who want to know how the program was created.
You did well to pass that test.
Before I start talking about The Angel Player, I want to tell you the reason why I made that test.
The reason why I want to test you before revealing the secret of how The Angel Player was created is because… It is gruesome.
If the person doesn't have all the wisdom, attentiveness and skills, that person is not worth me telling them about this secret.
The test tests the testers 3 things.
Firstly, apparently, all of the people here are Japanese or at least live in Japan. So I test their wisdom. If the testers are capable of reading English, they will pass this part of the test.
Secondly, I purposely left behind the mention of the existence of this section in the Bibliography of the manual. Those with attentiveness will be able to see through it. Well, there is a bit of luck involved too, but I will give them a pass as long as they are able to see it no matter the method.
Lastly, I have to test their programming skill. The person who is worth me telling them about this secret has to be sufficiently skill in programming; well enough to be able to crack the password. Or with a compromise, has a trusted friend who has that skill.
From the fact that you are here, I will say that you have passed my test. Congratulations.
That's why now I will tell you the gruesome fact of Angel Player.

"What an opening," Haruka swears after she finished reading the first page.
Yes, there are a lot of pages in this section. They have to read them one by one.
"It is good that we passed the test, isn't it?" Yuzuru says smilingly.
"Hmm… Did we really considered qualify as passing the test?" Haruka asks with a wry smile.
"What do you mean, Saigusa-san?" Yuzuru asks back, confused.
"The creator said he only wanted someone who is skilled at programming or has a trusted friend who has that skill, right? We have neither; you just used the legacy of your old friend. The man is not here anymore," she explains.
"Hmm, I guess you are right. Should we stop then?" Yuzuru asks teasingly.
"Why bother asking that? You, yourself would never stop no matter what I say, would you?" Haruka hits the bullseye.
"W-well, I guess you are right about that," Yuzuru replies meekly.
His teasing ends up backfiring.
"Anyway, let's continue reading."
"Right."

I came here when I died. Well, not that I remembered dying at the time though; I had amnesia. And by here, I did not mean this school (Hopefully it is still a school at the time you read this) but a white space.
Yes, this world was just a white space at the time.
I who was the only one here in the white space and had amnesia had a hard time living in this place with nothing but white space. While I was lamenting about how unfortunate I was, I found out one interesting thing about this place. This place has a magical property; I could create anything I imagine from nothing
And so I pondered what I should create in order to live in this world comfortably. The first thing that came to my mind at the time was a school. Maybe I yearned for school back when I was alive, who knows? Anyway, what I thought of is a school.
So I decided to create all things necessary to be considered a school. However, I could only create one thing at a time and it tired me out. When I tried to think of easier ways to create a school, an idea came into my mind.
Yes, the idea was, "Let create a program that can alter this world."
Of course at the time I didn't know I was a programmer back when I was alive or I died. I guess it must be an unconscious knowledge thing. I just knew that I could create a program like that.
And so, I created it, The Angel Player.

"I can't believe it that this place used to be a white space," Yuzuru says after he finished reading the second page.
"So this world was already a school when you first came here, right?" Haruka asks.
"Yes, this place has been a school the entire time I have been here," Yuzuru answers.
"Hmm… It is interesting that he was able to create school out of that white space or the fact that he was able to create things from nothing while we can't do it without using The Angel Player," Haruka observes.
"Oh, I guess there is that, huh?"
"…You are just too dumb," Haruka says exasperatedly.
"Hey! What was that for?" Yuzuru protests.
"That point is obvious and worth taking a note of, yet, you still overlooked it. What are the other words I should say apart from "you are too dumb"?"
"Urgh…" He can't deny her words.
"Anyway, I will continue," she says so as she moves the cursor to the next button.
"Yes."

It took a long time but finally I was able to complete The Angel Player, the program for altering this world.
I created a school as I had wanted. And after that, I decided to create artificial intelligences who act as students, teachers and school staffs to fill in the void of this world. It took a lot of work but it seemed to still be within my capability. At the time the world I had wanted to live in was completed.
I never thought that I would soon have visitors; I thought I was the only real human in that world.
But reality proved me otherwise. Soon after I had completed the school, other humans came.
The reason why I knew they were humans is because they were not something I created. Their actions were weird as if they were confused why they were here. After I had talked to them, I finally started to think that I have already died. Most of the people I talked to said that they remembered they were already death. So I kind of understood that this world is an Afterlife of sort.
Most of them disappeared after a while and all of them had one similar trait to them. They all were youths who had regrets from their lives. After they had fulfilled them here in this world, they disappeared.
However, no matter how long time had passed, I didn't disappear. I still stuck in this world. It might be because I didn't even know whether I had regrets or not. At the time I still didn't know my name for God's sake!
After I had stayed in this world for a long time until I got sick of it though that my memories finally started to come back. I had no regrets in my life. I was a programmer back when I was alive and I was able to help many people with my programs. I can't say that my life was perfect but they were nothing I was dissatisfied about.
One of the many things I desired from my life though is that I wanted to go to high school. I was a dropped out and started working immediately without going to high school. I guess that was why I yearned for school when I had first come to this world. But at the time I had already got sick of it.
After my memories had come back, I decided that since I wasn't able to get out of this world anyway, I might as well help other humans in this world move on like how I help people with my programs back when I was alive.
I had a fun life helping other people moving on for a while but that all ended when I met her.
My life here changed completely since I met her

"So this place became a place where regretted souls come after he had finished making it as a school, huh? Interesting," Haruka says.
"Yes, seems like it," Yuzuru responds.
"However there is still one thing that bothers me," Haruka begins.
"What is it?" Yuzuru asks.
"The creator said in the first page that The Angel Player is gruesome but I still see nothing gruesome about it from the text so far," Haruka answers.
"Hmm… That's true," Yuzuru agrees.
"So I guess the real deal starts now right?"
"Right," Yuzuru replies with a serious face.
After taking a deep breath, Haruka finally says it.
"Let's be prepared."
"Yes."
After Yuzuru responded, Haruka moves the cursor to the next button.
"I will click it now, okay?" She asks for confirmation.
"Okay."
And so, they read what is on the next page.
Done!
How is it folks? The first half of the Angel Player's history
It is not out of the ordinary I know, but this is the best I can do. The Anime gave a little too much detail about what happened to the programmer compared to my liking. That's why I can't really tweak it around that much if I want to stay in line with canon.
So here it is; my version of The Angel Player. It came from the supernatural power of the programmer himself!
Hope you guys like it and look forward to the latter half of the history.
Next chapter will be Kanade's part though.
Please read and review.
