Author's note: Hello everyone! Sorry for the long wait! I had started my university life, so things got hectic and I had no time. We are back here again with Kanade and the psychic. Let's see their progress!

Enjoys!

The research on Afterlife 1

"Anyway, have you found anything out?" Kanade asks as she sits down after being invited into the house by the former psychic.

Today is the day they have a meeting about the former psychic's research progression.

"Oh, please give me some more time Tachibana-chan! There are so many things to investigate! Currently I found one thing that seems interesting and I'm trying to investigate it in-depth now, but there is still no tangible result," the former psychic sighs as she replies.

"Oh, what is the thing, Naoi-san?" Kanade inquires, curious.

"I guess I should start by telling you what I have been doing this past week," The former psychic begins.

"Oh, what have you been doing, Naoi-san?" Kanade says to get the conversation going.

"Religions books," the former psychic says only one word.

"Religions books?" Kanade repeats.

"Yes, I have been reading religions books searching for mentions about Afterlife," the former psychic continues.

"I see," Kanade nods

When you think about it, there are a lot of beliefs about Afterlife in each religion. So reading religions books to find out about Afterlife seems like one of the best choices one can make.

"The main point is this, while researching various religions books, one religion caught my eyes."

"Caught your eyes?" Kanade repeats again.

"Yes, caught my eyes," the former psychic confirms.

"How so?" Kanade is curious.

"While there are a lot of beliefs about Afterlife in each religion, in Theravada Buddhism, there is a belief about wandering souls. Those souls are ex-humans with regrets or concerns leave from the time they were a human and can't be reborn until they solve those regrets and concerns. It is very similar to what you explained to me how the souls work in that Afterlife of yours,"

"Theravada Buddhism?"

"Yes, Theravada Buddhism. It is the more conservative of the two major traditions of Buddhism mainly located in Southeast Asia," the former psychic explains.

"There is such a tradition?" Kanade is a bit lost.

"I know that for a normal Japanese person, you wouldn't know about all these religions thingy since religious beliefs in Japan are not strong, but yes, there is such a Buddhism tradition,"

"…" Kanade stays silent.

"To be honest, I wouldn't know about it either if I didn't do the research in this past week," the former psychic says kindly.

Truth to be told, the former psychic can sympathize with how Kanade feels. She was also a bit lost when she started research all these unknown religions traditions. It made her shouted in her mind out loud, 'There are also such traditions!' as she rummaged through a bunch of religions books.

"Anyway, to get to the point, the religious tradition that has the closest beliefs about the Afterlife compared to what you told me is Theravada Buddhism. That's why after I had pinpointed it I decided to focus my research on this one. However…" The former psychic pauses.

"However?" Kanade asks.

"There are so many teachings and the teachings are very interesting and deep that it takes time to understand each one so I couldn't finish it in one week!" the psychic loudly says, frustrated.

"Huh?" This is the only word that comes out of Kanade's mouth.

'Why would you have to waste time trying to understand the teachings? Can't you just focus on understanding the parts about the Afterlife?' this is what Kanade thinks as she listens to the former psychic.

"Umm… Naoi-san?" Kanade wants to ask why the former psychic won't just do as she thinks so she tries to speak, however…

"Tachibana-chan, let us research it together, Theravada Buddhism!" The former psychic grasps Kanade's right hand between both of her hands, looks into Kanade eyes, as she says so.

"Umm…" Kanade is stunted, not knowing what to do.

"If I researched it alone, it would take too long! That's why please research it together, Tachibana-cha- no, Kanade-chan!

"Umm… yes, I guess so," Kanade is forced to reply so, still confused.

"Ah, now we would be able to understand the teachings faster! Thank you, Kanade-chan! Wait for me, Theravada Buddhism!" the former psychic enthusiastically says as she raises her right fist to the air.

'Isn't it me who asked for her help? Why does it come to this?' Kanade thinks as she is swept away by the former psychic's enthusiasm.

Ironically, even if it is her who asked for help, now she is the one who has to help the former psychic in her research.

'Well, I guess it wouldn't hurt. After all if I want a quicker result, I should offer my help,' thinking so to comfort herself, Kanade accepts the former psychic's request.

And so, with the satisfied psychic and the resigned Kanade, the curtain of this meeting closes like this.
