Miami was hot and the garden at Verone-O`Conner manor is quiet and well cultivated. Carter had told her before leaving that morning, that she and Brian had been garden enthusiasts together. Bastiana reclines on the bench, bare legs crossed at the ankle, the sun warm on her skin. She closes her eyes for a moment and inhales. Only mowed grass. She had obviously imagined it. Either that or both men had something rotting under their floorboards.
She was alone at the Manor while Carter and Brian were at the the club. She was alone. Without brothers, cases, Wilson, Amy, clients, phone calls, sisters-in-law, wedding plans. Just silence.
Silence.
That word had so many connotations, so many meanings to someone. Bastiana Wold was no different. She had experienced so many types of silence in her life, and all were different. Some were good, others awful. So many memories were associated with silence. So many different emotions were tied to it.
The oppressive silence of her grandfather's house followed. The silence that came with the hours upon hours of lessons and homework heaped upon him as her grandfather educated her. The forced silence between her and her brother from barely being able to talk. Her own silence by choice about the physical and mental abuse she suffered under this man, for fear of being sent back to her parents and not being able to give her brothers the best life she could.
There was the silence she, Neal, and Sonny had experienced with their parents and their incredibly young baby brother. It was a comforting one, that she experienced in the last hour before she went to bed at night before stories were read and babies were already asleep. They had that one hour, where they spent doing quiet activities in the same room. At the age of 14, she had been drawn to puzzles, things that needed solving. But later on, when she discovered battleship about two years later, she spent it strategizing. Her mother had tended to the houseplants or read at that time, and her father had generally read the paper, do it at that time, rather than in the mornings when he didn't have time before work. Those were peaceful, full of love, and connectedness.
The next silence he had come into contact with was the sad, sorrowful silence of her parents' funeral at the age of ten. The service had been small, and no one had offered her, or her brothers who had been 11, 14, 16, and 18 at the time, any words of comfort. The silence was painful and cloyingly sweet with the promise of what should have been, and the lives they could have led with their parents leading the way. Spencer and Mike had cried that day, but even their tears, which typically bordered on the dramatic, were quiet ones. Bastiana hadn't had any words to comfort her brothers with, not knowing what to say, and knowing what she could say were just empty platitudes.
The subsequent silence that came was from her own brothers, who ignored herself when Edith had kicked out of the house. Then there was the silence of the streets. The silence only came in the throes of the night. During the day, everything was loud with the hustle and bustle of people, and earlier in the night, the sounds of prostitute, guns, and gangsters.
The relatively short silence of employees who did not respect her soon ended, and for a long time, there was no silence. And then… there came her silence after she canes face to face with her brothers after so many years. It had broken her. One might have expected her to scream, or yell, or cry, but she did not. She left, took a sort of vacation to sort through everything, and she had done it all with silence. She had not told a soul where she was going, because she did not know herself. She had left a note to Tanner, telling him that she would be back once she found herself again, unable to bear speaking. And so, she had gone, and eventually, she had found what she was looking for.
The silence after was chilling and dark. The silence of having her soul taken away, living with the infinite cold, the blackness, and fog. She could never speak, never move her mouth, so she was forced into silence, but her thoughts were anything but quiet. They were loud, so loud sometimes that she thought they might shatter the silence, but they never did. No sound ever reached her ears, nothing but the sound of silence. For a long time, she thought it may remain that way until finally, a sound had broken through- the sound of clinking metal, when she opened her eyes she found herself in a dungeon, and that sound was the sound of rattling chains. Her soul was finally free.
The vast majority of those silences were awful, the kind that breaks your spirit. It might have if it were not for the good ones that inevitably followed. A few came from before her soul was taken, but most came after.
There was the silence in the morning when the condo she called home was still quiet. The quiet that came before her brothers' storms in her house wanting to talk.
There was silence when she was organizing and strategizing her cases. That silence when she was preparing for a trial, where she thought everything through, planning for every possible outcome or combination of cards she could get to get the maximum amount of damage from her opponent. The silence was comfortable and so peaceful.
The silence after winning a trial, when the enemy had faded and he had been declared the winner. The silence there was pungent with her superiority, with her skill, her ego. Those silences fueled her fire, her passion for the case, and she needs to be the best. They showed her that she was still at the top.
Then there was the silence after a long day at work, where she could finally rest. That feeling of accomplishment after getting everything on her to-do list checked off. She always knew that there would be more to do the next day, but in those times he preferred to enjoy the present. Those few times when she could relax and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, and maybe a good book.
The silence of a room full of shocked clients or lawyers never failed to comfort her. Seeing the looks on their faces after they realize that a woman was more skilled in business and in law than most of them made her gleeful. She enjoyed that silence, that affirmation that she was in the correct position in life. She loved the way that she could make them all go quiet. It was fantastic and powerful.
Yes, Bastiana Wolf had experienced much, but he had learned to appreciate the sound of silence.
Though, by the time she managed to dig it out of her bag, the ringing had stopped.
She glanced down at the abnormally bright screen that had informed her that she had missed a call.
From Lola.
The first time Bastiana Wolf meets Lola, she knows. No, despite what her brothers may think, she's not actually omniscient, but she knows her brother well enough to know he's been hiding something.
Hiding someone.
And when she swings by the college one day because she had to come to Manhattan to see Neal and it seemed only fair to bring her brother a pan of lasagna, she sees the way her brother lights up when the well-dressed teacher makes her way out of the director`s office.
It doesn't take a genius to put two and two together.
Spencer leads her over to introduce her to his boss but Bastiana has eyes only for the woman who's watching her with equal calculation in her expression. Two people who know that the other also knows.
Her handshake is firm when they're finally introduced in a painfully off-hand way. "Oh, and, uh, this is Lola Kinney," Reid says, the back of his neck burning red.
"A pleasure," Lola tells her, her voice cool, impersonal.
"Charmed," Bastiana says, matching her tone.
Bastiana just looks nervously between the two of them like watching a tennis match and the director clears her throat. "Reid, I hate to impose but I'd love to take some lasagna home to my wife."
That does the trick — Reid snaps instantly into food-sharing mode and heads to the breakroom with the director, leaving Bastiana and Lola alone.
Bastiana clears her throat. "I hope you like lasagna," she says, and Lola looks at her.
"Why?" She asks casually.
Too casually.
"You'll be eating it for a week," Bastiana says calmly.
Bastiana's expression doesn't so much as flicker, but the very tips of her ears turn slightly red, and Bastiana counts it as a small victory. "And while you're at it," she adds, as Lola looks ready to make a hasty exit before implicating herself, "you might want to watch his sugar intake."
Lola's eyes snap back to hers. "Why?" She asks again, cautiously this time, with an edge of concern.
"The men in our family have a long history of heart disease," Bastiana tells her. "And Lord knows he doesn't eat well as is."
Something tightens in Lola's face, just a slight narrowing of the eyes, as he watches Reid pour herself a cup of coffee with at least three packets of sugar inside it. Lola glances back at Bastiana. "It was very nice to meet you," she says diplomatically before finally taking her to leave.
Bastiana considers it an even bigger victory.
Three days later she gets a text from Spencer: B what the hell did you tell her?!
Language, she scolds in reply, a small grin creeping across her face.
He got rid of everything in my apartment with sugar in it! Reid sends back, and she can practically feel his desperation in every keystroke. EVERYTHING!
Bring her to Sunday dinner and I'll be sure to have some cake for you, she replies. And next time, try not to hide your girlfriend from me.
The pause that stretches between texts is so long that Bastiana almost fears she's overstepped her boundaries, but then Reid texts back, I'm hoping there won't be the next time. We'll be at dinner.
Her thoughts were cut off by the sound of her name.
"Bastiana,"
She opens her eyes to see Carter standing next to her. He steps onto the grass before her, blocking the sun and Bastiana's lips quirk.
"You look happy," He comments, glancing up at her." That scared the shit out of me!"
Bastia sends Lola a heart emoji and sets her phone down. "I found a way to get rid of Torretto!"
Carter looks surprised. "You are fast," he says, and he leans down to kiss the top of her head.
"I am fabulous," she says simply.
"Tell me about your idea"
"Rip out his right eye with a spoon and force himself to watch himself eat it with his left eye?" Bastiana suggested vehemently.
Carter pulled back a little, eyes wide. "You woman are so violent..."
Carter wraps an arm around her waist anyway and pulls her close to him while Bastiana resting her head on his shoulder
''Bastiana, are you trying to steal my husband ?''A male voice says from behind them.
''I wouldn't dare.' Bastiana said giving Brian a smile.
Carter walks to Brian and gives him a kiss on his lips as Brian wraps his hand around his waist and the three of them are walking towards the manor and try to find a fun way to spend their time.
Monday morning sun broke through the blinds and shone another sane morning to the couple in the bed. Lola lay awake and staring at the ceiling while rubbing the knuckles that hold her. A smile broke on her face as the idea of an old trick of how to wake up him. A simple kiss on the ear would do the trick no doubt.
"Morning Sexy Doctor, Wakey wakey," Lola said as she turned to give him a kiss. The brown and grey eyes struggled to stay close knowing that the battle was not going to be won.
Spencer laughed at her comment and liked the way Lola awakened him.
"I thought that your sexy doctor was Mark Sloan from Grey's Anatomy," said Spencer and Lola started kissing his neck.
"You are the only doctor I want."
His hair everywhere, mouth open, marks from last night all over his skin. Her fiance did look thoroughly ravished. She moves suddenly, and his lids opening slightly, sleep still heavy in his eyes. He squints at her, lifts his head a little then settles back down into his pillows. He takes a huff of air in then starts to pat the side of the bed.
"Lola…Lola!…we have a problem…there's a goddess hunched over me naked…if I shag her…on a scale from one to ten…how angry will you be with me?"
She hits him in the stomach for that and he starts laughing. He opens his eyes and runs his hands over her arms and up her shoulders. His fingers settled on her chin and guide her lips down to his, a soft connection over and over again. She falls to her side and they lazily kiss while encompassed in their linens. He moves to kiss her cheek, bringing her body to his and kisses her ear.
"Good morning my goddess."
She sighs and snuggles closer to him.
"Good morning Doctor."
He runs his hands down her back, her skin so soft, so inviting. He pulls back, sending her a roguish smile and pushes her into the pillows connecting their lips. He climbs on top of her, his hands on her hips, his-
Ring, ring, ring
''For the love of God,'' Lola said annoyed. She forces to pull herself away from her fiance as Spencer gave her an apologetic smile.
"Reid." Reid immediately said as he picked up her phone, occasionally glancing up at Lola who looks annoyed and irritable playing with a tassel on the pillow she was holding. "Yeah Rossi, give me 15 minutes and I'll be there."
Lola glanced down at Spencer."What'd the old man wants to want this time?" She laughed as the statement was practically dripping with sarcasm.
''We have a new case,'' said Reid.
"But...w-we were so close on…" said Lola and she nuzzled Spencer's neck and slowly started to kiss his neck.
"I know, but we...we...can always do it later, but not now," said a determined Reid as she tried not to moan from Lola's doing. 'It would allow making her go further.' Trying to push Lola off of his and trying to fix himself. Lola stopped kissing his neck and looked at him.
"Alright...but you promise?" pouted Lola while looking like a 5 yr old, who wanted ice cream but couldn't have it.
"I will" smiled Spencer.
A few minutes later, Lola sighs, laying on the bed, watching Spencer as he gets dressed for work.
"C'mon babe, you have to get up for work now," Spencer says, looking at his fiance, lying on the bed.
Lola nods, "I'm just a bit tired" she mumbles, as she finally gets out of bed.
Reid leans down, pressing a kiss to Lola's forehead, "You get in the shower, and I'll have your coffee waiting for you when you get out" he smiles.
"That sounds good" she smiles, "Thanks, babe."
Spencer smiles, "anything for you," he says softly, "Now go on," he says, giving Lola's ass a light tap, as she walks into the bathroom.
Spencer finishes getting dressed for work, before he goes downstairs, making Lola a cup of coffee just like he promised. He brings the coffee upstairs, setting it on the nightstand for Lola, for when she came out of the shower. Lola comes out of the shower a few minutes later, smiling at the cup of coffee, she practically drops her towel, as she picks up his cup, taking long sips of the warm coffee.
Spencer smiles, pressing a kiss to Lola's cheek, "I love you, Lola."
Lola smiles, "I love you too Spencer," she says setting her coffee down, to get dressed for work.
Lola gets dressed, in one of her skinny black jean, picking out a yellow top, before she finishes drinking her coffee, she goes downstairs to make herself coffee for the car ride to the office.
Spencer comes downstairs a few minutes later, "you ready?" he asks looking at his fiance.
Lola nods, looking at a small bottle, "Can I take aspirin with coffee?" She asks.
Spencer shrugs, "Try for water," he says, "You have a headache?" he asks.
Lola nods, before taking the aspirin, and taking her coffee with her, "it's not too bad" he says.
Spencer nods, "Alright," he says, feeling a little worried about Lola, as they walk out to the car.
In the car, both of them were talking about their honeymoon. Off all the things Reid expected to be difficult about wedding planning, choosing a honeymoon location had been very low on the list. He and Lola both enjoyed new experiences and good food. He'd been certain that their biggest issue would be narrowing down their options.
He had never considered they'd have problems even choosing possible options. But here they were, sealing and addressing the save-the-dates and still not sure of anything besides the fact they wanted a honeymoon.
"Europe?" Lola suggests. "We could plan a whole train route. See a new country every day or so."
Reid thinks about it as they'd gotten into the car and started down the road at a casual pace.
"I'm not against it-"
"But it's not really…" Lola looks up and shrugs at Reid. "It's not that it's not a fun idea. It just seems like something should really feel right."
"Yeah," Reid agrees.
Lola shakes her head as she picks up a pen to label the now-stamped envelopes.
"I know we've both already been, but that doesn't feel like the issue. More than it's not…" He doesn't speak for a few moments as Lola copies an address from the print out Spencer made. "It just doesn't fit," he finishes with a sigh. "I don't have a better way to say that."
"I agree," Lola says. Shee stuffs a few more envelopes. "You and me and some ridiculous vacation rental on a coast," she pitches. "Right off the beach. Sun, sand, and no schedule."
"Tempting," Reid replies. "But if we go without a schedule for more than a few days, you know we'd kill each other."
Lola chuckles. "That's true. We were both threatening to throw each other down the fire escape during the blackout last summer."
"In my defense, part of that was just the heat." Reid snickered. Lola burst into a fit of laughter.
After that, her fiance starts threw around statistics on honeymoon's accidents and murders. In all her years, Lola had never met anyone else so in love with the sound of his own voice as the man now standing beside her. Although… For an instant, Lola forgot herself and flashed a smile. Bastiana always did love to hear herself talk.
Lola was consistently, terrifyingly wary of Bastiana; Spencer found it hilarious. Bastiana had never explicitly threatened her but had done a lovely job of shooting her enough dark glares and murderous glances that it was more than enough to make her lawyer had the power and money to destroy her, Lola knew that Bastiana was not from people who will show affection in public after all, to Bastiana Wolf it was all about money. Her whole world revolved around it. Money is cold and not exactly friendly, therefore Bastiana was cold and not exactly very friendly too. There were whispers, rumors going around that spending too time with money made Bastiana numb.
Lola calls it bullshit. People see things that only they want to see, people see Bastian as a cold heartless lawyer, not the sister who will everything for the family. She will break the law, cross the line, everything for her family.
Thank god that Lola was family because after that Bastiana did to Jennifer Jeru, Lola will never want to be at the bad side of her future sister-in-law. After the blonde agent got fired, Bastiana was not satisfied and decided that she wants to be a part of the end of Jennifer Jareau. The lawyer made sure that all the police stations, CIA, FBI, White Collar, SWAT, and other security services of the United States know about the behavior of the blonde woman and the reason she got fired from the BAU. JJ lost her badge and every opportunity to work at the law, the only thing that the former Agent can be is a liaison with the media and local police agencies, again.
Lola was not shocked when I found out that Bastiana did after all the motto of this family was: I against my siblings, my siblings, and I against you. But the thing had Lola shocked was a visit from Bastiana.
FLASHBACK
Flow plasticity is a solid mechanics theory that is used to describe the plastic behavior of materials. Flow plasticity theories are characterized by the assumption that a flow rule exists that can be used to determine the amount of plastic deformation in the material.
Inflow plasticity theories it is assumed that the total strain in a body can be decomposed additively (or multiplicatively), we've only a few minutes left today."
Bastiana knew she was close to Lola's classroom when a familiar voice came echoing through the corridor. She didn't want to interrupt her class; therefore, Bastiana sat outside and waited, but it wasn't long before a flood of senior students came rushing out of the room—trying to get a far away as possible.
After a few seconds, the students seemed to have all disappeared upstairs. Bastiana slowly entered the familiar classroom to see her beloved teacher, her back to her as Lola cleaned the board.
''Professor Kinney, I don't understand the point of learning maths? We can just use a calculator…" Bastianatried to disguise her voice, and she clearly did a good job of it, for Lola slowly turned around with her arms crossed and her brow wrinkled in frustration.
And then it all melted with a laugh, "Bastiana! It's good to see you. It's been far, far too long." Lola moved towards Bastiana who was instantly in her arms. "Is everything alright? You've never visited me at college before''
Bastiana smiled and asked Lola to side down. Lola moved towards a seat behind a student's desk in her classroom, looking somewhat anxious. "Have something to announce to you," the corners of Lola's mouth began to turn up as though she was trying not to show a grin.
"Well, actually I have something to show you." Bastiana held out her left hand and gave Lola's a file.
Lola's eyes went wide reading the file. Jennifer Jeraus, fired, sexual harassment, unemployed, forever. Lola lowers her file, her brown gaze roaming from the file to the empty eyes of Bastiana.
''Well?''Bastiana asked, looking deeply into her dark eyes
Lola watched her, too shocked to say anything.
''Why?''Lola asked in a surprising show of emotion. ''Why will you do something like that?''
''For me brother''
Lola nods her head. All for her brothers.
''And for you!''
Now Lola was lost. She looked up at Bastiana, eyes wide with surprise while Bastiana had to stand up crossing her arms, and stood leaning against the front of the cherry-wood desk.
''You are the love of my brother's life. My brother has a problem with affection but every time he talk about you, he become someone else, his eyes spark with every sight of you and I hate it.''Bastiana finally said, voice quiet.
"I'm not afraid of a lot of things but mostly, most sincerely I'm afraid of being completely unraveled by them and my brothers finding nothing they want in here"Bastiana let out a loud stream of laughter."I am a monster after all."
Lola could hear the pain in her voice and she wanted to hold the lawyer. Hold her and let time slip away, but she sat still and waited on Bastiana to continue.
''I am jealous of you'' Bastiana continued to look away but she knew that the professor could hear her.''You, Dana, Michael, and Logan can communicate with my brothers but me..''
''I can't even touch my own blood and flesh. I can show them that I love and care about them, I can't hug them or say the three words''
Two tears escaped and slid quietly down the sides of her face. She would not make a sound, not a single faint whimper that would alert Lola to anything. She refused to let anyone else see her cry.
''But you'' Bastiana murmured.''Logan, Michael, and Dana can do that, can make them happy and I love you all for that.''
The younger looked sheepish at that, fingering nervously with an empty teacup.
''I did this for you because Lola Kinney, you are my sister'' Bastiana explained.''We may have different opinions about life, fight sometimes but you are my family.''
Lola turned to face the lawyer, an eyebrow arched up in confusion,
"Family?" She repeated.
Bastiana nodded,'' Family''
END FLASHBACK
During her chat with Bastiana, the younger woman almost had cried. She was been accepted by Bastiana Wolf. The only thing that Dana, Michael, Logan, and her have been fighting for years is to be accepted by Bastiana. The brothers have Bastiana's opinions like they are from God and if Bastiana dislikes some partner of her brothers, bye-bye partner.
Her thought was cut off by Spencer's voice,'' We are here, babe.''
Lola looks at her fiance and then at the big build which it's her college where she works.
''Thank you for brought me here'' Lola smiled and reached up, kissing Spencer`s jaw ''See you soon''
The young doctor started the car and sped off, pulling a wheelie as he went. Spencer wants to skip the work today, was tired from the wedding's plans, and the fights between Bastiana and the brothers.
Sonny is afraid to be a parent because of their past.
Mike is stuck at a war between his boss and his sister.
Neal is not able to breathe without the permission of White Collar.
Bastiana chooses the work over her family.
Spencer has a big problem because his boss has a crush on his sister. The young doctor was not stupid and saw how the eyes of Hotch had followed his sister for the moment she walked into the room three days ago. How he ran after her and calmed her down, the smile on his face when he came back at the meeting room and Rossi's cryptical smile.
Why his sister must be so beautiful?
Speaking of his sister, she was at Miami helping an old friend and will miss the party of Sonny and Michael. His older brother was angry at her but Spencer had used to be second in the list of Bastiana's priorities. It was all about work and money.
Bastiana Wold, their Bastiana was always working. But Spencer didn't complain, that just wasn't like him. Even when there could be days when the brothers wouldn' t see or hear Bastiana at all. Spencer did not complain.
Even when their brief meetings revolved solely around money, they didn't complain.
But they were slowly losing there was slowly realizing that Bastiana was all about money, and there was no room for them. Spencer sighs walking out of the elevator toward the meeting room. Today BAU team was back at her own building separate from SVU's team as they had a new case. Sonny,Dodds and Spencer were not happy about that as were happy that they spent a lot of time together during the work , especially that they can use phrases like 'Chief Dodds says hey or Bastiana Wolf sends her greetings ' to get what they want. It was good to have people with power in the family.
The young doctor walks in the meeting room greeting from all the member of his team. It was a surpise that Morgan and Garcia talk to him after what happened with JJ , only Prentiss and Rossi could understand his reaction and that it was the best for everyone that JJ got fired. Of course ,Reid knew Bastiana had destroyes JJ's life and career.
He's leg tingled as his phone vibrated in his pocket. He pulled the phone out , looking at the screen. His eyebrows shot up as he read the text message.
''I bought gift for Sonny and Michael's party. I have been told by Michael that Sonny is not well , Bastiana broke the poor boy.''
L.K
Fuck ,in two day is the party of Sonny and Michael for their anniversary of six years. Case ,every brother mad at Bastiana , fights , fucking family and the party. It will be good to have a good time as a family and relax but 5 siblings' Ross at the same room!. After all, It wouldn't be a Ross family gathering without one of us being mad at another one.
Spencer drummed his fingers on the table in a mildly annoying cadence repeatedly until finally Derek turned and said roughly," What the hell pretty boy, why are you so nervous?"
Reid immediately stopped drumming his fingers and sighed "I don't know Derek it's just that I had a fight with my brother , Lola and Dana drive me crasy with the wedding and Bastiana...''Reid trailed off abruptly realizing that he had unintentionally opened a can of worms. He noticed that every one of his co workers was staring at him with puzzled looks passing between them. Emily sat quietly having an entire conversation with Garcia that consisted of nothing more than raised eyebrows and widening eyes, finally after determining that no one had any clue she nodded at Morgan who began the much needed conversation." What is going one with your sister?''
Unaware to Reid, the head of his boss snapped at his direction ,at the sound of her name.
"A regular knight in shining armor, he was," Hotch heard Rossi's voice exclaim candidly.
Hotch glared at him while he was trying to hear Reid for his sister. Hotch hadn't seen Rossi the rest of the weekend and that was two whole days without having to deal with the reality of what he was now calling "the Bastiana situation". The situation being that he was becoming increasingly attracted to the young lawyer with each passing moment. He could have dealt with it on his own, but, Saturday Rossi had become witness to his Bastiana situation, and he knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that he would not live it down.
Hotch found himself falling for this woman without can find the reason, maybe it was because she was the one woman that was out of reach. She was the one woman that had been one his mind too much, the one woman he wanted to have under him, the one woman he wanted to taste, the one woman he wanted to hear his own name from, when he would lose himself deep inside of her.
"Yeah?" he heard Morgan reply. "So, you are mad at your sister, what is the deal?''
''Well''Reid says.''she is at Miami having all the men staring or flirting with her instead of being here with us.''
''Your sister is hot!''Morgan admitted.
Hotch was struck by a pang of jealousy at the thought of anyone, especially Morgan, lusting after Bastiana. His fists clenched at his sides and his eyes flashing was all the confirmation Reid needed.
If looks could kill Hotch and Morgan is sure he'd be dead on the young doctor was not naive when it comes to his sister , she was smart and beautiful with the result a lost of men fight for her attention , something that it was difficult for them. They want her to be happy but at the same time they did not want someone to take her away from them. It will be hard for them if Bastiana has a man in her life which it is mean when she will want something Bastiana will look for it at her man , if she wants to talk she will has her man ,she will care for him , love him , be with him ,spend her time with him , buid a new life with him, without them. It is selfish but the thought of Bastiana to be away from them is hard.
Anyway, he saw how Hotch had ran after Bastiana when the meeting between her and Sonny had finished and how his eyes light up when she walked into the room. They had seen Bastiana get hit on or undressing her with their eyes plenty of times, but it was always just casual exchanges of numbers or plans to meet up for a hook up. But Spencer never had the thought that he sould be worried for his boss to lust after his sister.
''Why your sister is at Miami?'' Rossi asked; Hotch eyed the man behind his desk. He had an interesting smirk on his face.
Reid frowned.''Trying to not kill one of her client/friend!''
''She supposed to be here with me driving me crazy for my fucking wedding suit!''he spat. Reid never cursed simply because he found he liked how people reacted when he did so rarely. When Dr. Spencer Reid said "fucking" people knew he was pissed.
Everyone were looking at him as if he'd suddenly grown two heads.
''How are going the wedding plans?''Prentiss changed the subject though it was just unlucky like discussing Spencer sisters.
''It is crazy.''
Garcia looks over to Spencer who has a big smile on his face while he watches them.
''Lola wants a wedding at a garden''
"Is it wise to use the garden?" Garcia questioned. "What if the weather's bad?"
''We can use gazebo.''Reid suggested. "A friend of mine got married at a stately home in southern France, and the ceremony took place outdoors. They used gazebo when was started rain and it was beautiful.''
''Yes but..''
Reid cut Garcia off.
"It worked perfectly as well," Reid added. "It was actually raining the day they got married, apart from the rose garden which was where they were located.''
Morgan was about to say something when he was cut off by Reid's ringtone.
Left you multiple missed calls
And to my message you reply
"Why'd you only call me when you're high?"
"Hi, Why'd you only call me when you're high?"
Reid takes his phone out of his pocket, and checks the caller I.D. Dodds.
He quickly excused himself, racing to find a private room, the team found themselves staring hungrily at the young man's back.
They were done with secrets, done with all the stupid mysteries. With one look to one another it was clear everyone felt the same way, everyone desperately needed to unlock a secret. If not one on a case, if not with an unsub, then poor old Reid would have to do.
Morgan jumped up from his position on his desk, sending papers flying in various directions. Leaving them, knowing there would definitely be enough time to pick them up later, he swiftly continued up the stairs followed by Emily and Rossi.
Hotch lead his own group up the other side of the room with Garcia in tow. Moving skillfully, they made no sound as they worked their way towards the Conference Room.
The room where Reid and all his secrets were hiding.
Both groups met up at the center of the hall, combining into one big group. When they reached the room, each filed around the door and waited. Reid's voice could be heard from the inside, the door was closed as well as the lights slightly dimmed.
He was in the middle of speaking.
''Of course he acts like a kid which someone took his toy.''He was saying.
He paused as the person on the other end spoke.
''You got be kidding me.''Reid exclaimed into the phone.''She will fucking kill us.''
Morgan snickered silently.
"No no...Okay. I mean it's not that bad, but...okay, okay, yeah. I know it has to be perfect."
Pause.
''Sonny lied straight to her face. If Bastiana decide for a family metetimg, I will not be alive to be married.''
Rossi raised an eyebrow as Emily's eyes widened. Wait? What the...
''My sister's clients is drug lords, mafia's bosses and millionaires and all the people from the dark side of the law. One of her clients pointed a gun on her and he is still her client''
Garcia scrunched up her face at those words, her mind visited by unwanted images. She leaned over to Emily and whispered something to her, Emily only shrugged, her eyes still incredibly wide.
''You want be to call her and tell her what?'' He yelled, he seemed to huff a little.''The last time who someone of us tried to order around , found himself at hospital because she trew him a book.''
It was almost a miracle that none of the members of the team made a noise, for at that last statement, everyone had to cover their mouths in astonishment. Morgan seemed to nearly chocked as the woman's eyes widened even further. At this point, Emily's eyes seemed to be bulging from her head, threatening to pop out. Hotch remained stone face, however his eyes narrowed. And Dave. Well he was another story, his lips twitting upward just the smallest bit.
''Keller is dead. Neal and I have someone theories and all of them have something in common:Bastiana.''
''I covered when she was a suspect..''
Morgan gasped and clutched his head with his hands. His mind was racing. What the hell Reid! What is he talking about? I mean, could he actually be...
Hotch's stony expression cracked, as his jaw went slack. "What the hell?" He whispered. The team was petrified, complete and utter shock taking over. "Who is he talking to?"
''I knew it''Morgan muttered.''This woman is trouble and dangerous. We must take Reid away from her and I mu...''
Hotch is listening Morgan talks crap about Bastiana and his anger was rose inside him. They dont know her , they dont have the right to talk about her in this way ...
''Neither you do''his voice of reason told him sardonically.
It was true. Hotch was not aware of the real lawyer's face just only her Bastiana Wolf's façade. He wants to know everything about her , to see her smile , her eyes to light up and kiss those lips. He likes her in a way that no one woman made him to feel this. He misses her , he wants to call her but what!
He got only a date. They were not friends or co-workers , he was just the boss of her brother.
''Gracia will sear..''
''ENOUGH''Hotch yelled and all the agents in the room minus Rossi stared at him. Hotch ould see that the anger was coming through on his face when the looks on the three Bureau employees changed abruptly. ''We can not criticise Reid's family , we dont know them and I dont want Reid's sister sue us. Again.''
"Uh…" Morgan began, standing up. "I've got files… yeah files…" He left the room without finishing his sentence.
Garcia was quick to follow suit. "Derek!" she exclaimed, less subtle. "Don't leave me!"
The olders Agents looked at Prentiss while the woman ran after her friends/co-workers.
Hotch watched them run off in surprise. He turned back around when he heard Rossi sigh.
"Now, look what you did."
He frowned. "What I did? Morgan is the one spreading rumors. Bastiana is an innocent—"
"Save it, Aaron," Rossi said abruptly, shocking him into silence. "We both know you're not angry because you think we were defaming her character."
Hotch crossed his arms over his chest, raising one eyebrow. That was exactly why he was angry. "No? Then why don't you tell me why I'm so irritated right now."
Rossi eyed him wordlessly for a moment as if weighing his options. "All right," he answered. "You're angry because we've hit the bull on the nose. You like Bastiana Wolf. And knowing you and your misguided sense of morality you don't know what to do with your feelings for Reid's sister. That's what's really gotten you in a twist.
"And because I know you won't ask for my advice, I'm going to give it anyways… Don't wait and don't hold back. Go for it. Go for Bastiana. I could tell she likes you, too. So for God's sake, and your own, and for Bastiana's, for that matter— let yourself be happy for once in your life. For once, take what you want and have no regrets."
Hotch stood there a moment, taking in Rossi's eerie words. Was this his chance for true happiness? Was Rossi right? He was attracted to Bastiana, that was for sure, but could it ever be more? He thought back to her warm, easy smile; inhaling a deep breath, he thought, Oh yeah, it could definitely be more…
…but, she was Reids sister.
He let out a sigh. "I don't know what you're talking about, Dave," he said, voice monotone.
"Alright see you. Bye." A loud click echoed through the small room, and Mike's voice no longer sounded.
Three pictures, in gold picture frames, sat side-by-side on the far right-hand corner. Rubbing his eyes, he picked up the oldest photo. It was of him and his abuelita when he was about seven years old. He was grinning and holding a stuffed animal she'd bought him earlier in the day. Neal was on one knee, with his arms wrapped around him.
Eyes a little misty, he picked up the second photo. It was Sonny, but also his grandma. It was taken on the day of Reid's graduation from MIT. He was clad in his cap and gown, with Edith on his left and Sonny on his right.
When he picked up the final photo, he couldn't help but chuckle a little. It was all the family together. Sonny had his arm around Dodds' waist smiling at him while Dana was laughing at something Neal told her during the photo ,Lola had her legs wrapped around Spencer's waist trying to mess with his hair ,Logan was locked his lover in a passionate kiss and Bastiana's face held so much tender love and happiness. The Ross' siblings were grinning broadly as the photo was snapped.
"I'll have to thank Amy for taking that picture." he thought.
Michael Ross' life has been a roller coaster... Literally. The highs of being a lawyer on a big shot firm in Manhattan, having a JD in Harvard Law, and finally some friends who doesn't smoke or smell weed. Life is good for Mike Ross. He also happens to be the mastermind of the biggest fraud the New York bar has ever seen, or would never see if Mike would have his way. Every high on his life apparently is also his lows, from being a fake lawyer that handles multi-million cases, to his proud fake JD (courtesy of Lola Jensen). Every case that he and Harvey handles, used to, he corrected, puts a sudden pause on his heart beat. And every time he lies to another person, he feels like he's loosing himself to the lie, more so if it happens to be one of the people he loves.
It was hard enough to to lie to grammy when she was alive, God bless her soul, and it broke Mike's heart every time she asks about his work. He lied to his brothers , though they have never seen each other for a decade, give or take after the funeral of their parents, but Sonny ,Spencer and Neal has never cut off any communications to him. They used to calls every Sunday at 3PM like clockwork, asking about grammy, how's he doing, how's his life in school (which he constantly evades). They have never fought like most sibling does, except maybe that one when he found out that Neal was aware about Bastiana's location all those years and the truth behind her dissapeared. With Bastiana was different ,instead to use her words the woman tried to kill him with her vare hands and throw threats.
FLASHBACK
''Please, don't say anything, Neal''
Mike was looking at his older brother who looks smug. Both of them were at the condo of Bastiana's waiting for her not knowing why she wants them here , actually Bastiana wants only Mike but Neal deciced that it will be better for everyone if he was there. Translated to Neal wants to be with Mike to stop Bastiana from killing him.
Neal has a smile on his face and he laughed at his brother's difficult situation saying. 'I wasn't going to say anything''
''You were going to say I told you so' 'said Mike sarcastically as he knows his brother's behavior.
''Ok, so I was but I won't now' 'said Neal with honesty in his voice but the fun never left his voice or his face.
''Bastiana, didn't take it too well' 'the younger brother was admitted.
''You see' '
''I told you-..Sorry' 'A small smile exists in Neal's face as he wanted to support his brother, but nothing would stop him from telling the truth
Neal smirked and Mike eyes widened at his older brother wistful look.
However when Mike had poured the last of the bottle of whiskye into his glass ,Bastiana walked into her condo hitting the door behind her with anger, Neal saw the woman approaching had to run to balcony leaving Mike alone to deal with her wrath.
''Bastiana...''Mike trailed off when he saw her face.
''Why you looking at me like you want to rip my head off? 'Mike questioned warily.
''You better start talking or will kill you in your sleep' 'She said voice dripping with venom, stepping aside.
Mike looked at his watch and said as he walked away from the angry woman. ''I will be late for...''
''Rose are red, shit is brown. Shut the fuck up and sit the fuck down' 'yelled the woman and even Neal take a step back watching that Bastiana' whole body language was rigid. Clenched jaw and clenched fists. Mike was so fucking dead.
She sat in a chair and put her feet on the table as well gestured the younger man to start talking, Mike explained that in the beginning that Mike learned that he could not afford to keep his grandmother in a private nursing home. To make the money, he agreed to make the drop for Trevor tomorrow. He went to hotel , only to find that the drop is a sting operation. While escaped the police, he mistakenly sits for an interview with Harvey and the other is story.
After listening to the brother , Bastiana shook her head at the man in front of him.
"B I…" he started.
"Don't. Call. Me. That," Bastiana bit out, as she pours herself a drink. "You don't get to call me that."
"I thought…"
"Obviously you didn't. I fucking told you that Trevor is not a friend , because of him to kicked out of Harvard, because of him almost went to jail and now that? , and you think you get to call me B? Are you fucking kidding me?!"
"Sis, you need to calm down," Neal said as he entered the room, hearing the commotion from outside her open balcony door.
"I have been calm! I sat behind wathching at of you screwing your lives because you cannot use your fucking brains. You went to prison four times in charge for stealing and be a con artist while Gideon grapped my brother to be a fucking Agent and play around with a gun instead to be a prefessor and Sonny deciced to be a detective a well..''
"Bastiana…" Neal tried again.
''My dear brother of mine''Bastiana lets out a grunt, throwing her glass against the wall. The sound of glass shattering echoes through the condo.''You put your life in line for a dream because it is a fucking dream. You cannot be a lawyer ,I fought to be one and you..''
Bastiana was shaking with anger.
''How dare you to put us in line''Bastiana said, shaking with anger. Mike stood opposite the woman while she was stood like a dictator. He not blinked ,he stopped breathing and stood like a stone in front of this woman. Looked at the floor and refused to look at the woman in the eye because he would see anger and frustration in those eyes.
Bastiana walks to his side with a glimpse of curiosity and he could hear her breaths as she walked closer.
''Bastiana" Neal said warningly. They all knew that she would never lift a finger to harm her baby brother, but the threat was present nevertheless.
''Tell me something.''Bastiana begged while Neal shot a worried glance at Mike, confusion written across his features.
"What you want me to say?" Mike said whispered roughly.
" You could come to me" Bastiana started.
''Come to you?'' Mike interrupted.
Bastiana raised an eyebrow.''You want something you come to me. You tell me. You tell me everything. That's what goddamn loyalty is.''
''We are family, and we made a vow. I against my siblings , ny siblings and I against you.''said Neal sound tired because it is not the first time there had been drama in the family.
''None of this has anything to do with our vow.''Mike said feeling a tear run down his face.
The lawyer wanted to hit herself because was a human who prided herself on his ability to quickly and correctly read a situation, to see what others kept hidden.
''Pride?''asked Bastiana.
Mike's pride was too strong.
Pride. That was a terrible affliction. Bastiana was ashamed to say that she himself had suffered from it for years before understanding that silly pride was only another obstacle to face in order to truly appreciate life. It had been her pride that kept him from realizing she was wrong for neglecting Mike and not acknowledging that he was just as much of a lawyer-even more of a man than her or Sonny and deserved an equal amount of attention. It was that pride that now was responsible for her being in this situation now.
She tried to make up for not being there for Mike, many, many times. Each and every time he offered to meditate with him, study with her, spent time with him, offered his tea, tried to be of some comfort or use with her brother, he made his feelings quite clear to her.
He loathed her. Mike behavior towards her had always been rude, vulgar and uncaring, but now that she was trying to offer solace to the damaged princess, he seemed to impress upon her just how much he abhorred her very existence even more.
Mike always claimed that Bastiana never loved him, but how could Bastiaan ever show her brotger love when the little boy rejected her offerings of love, instead drifting more and more to an iron fisted tyrant?
Edith had taken Mike from her when Mike was a little boy, and it now seemed that Edith had stolen Mike from her once again. Now, after all this year Mike pretended that Bastiana didn't even exist. It seemed that Edith had won again.
Bastiana could forgive Edith for kicked out of her parent's house, she could forgive Edith for nearly destroying the relationships with her brothers, she could even forgive her for all those years.
But the scars that Edith had inflicted on her by stealing Mike from her back then...and now, would remain permanent.
''What?''
''Now. I may look damn good for my age but I wasn't born yesterday''said the woman and she studied the boy with a critical eye, taking in the way the shaking in his hands increased and how his eyes reflected fear and indecision.''You want to prove yourself''
''Just fucking tell me!''Bastiana roars in wordless rage.
She then looked at Mike with those cold, light blue eyes she had done when she leave him alone after his mother death. The look disgusted him. All for his bad luck, he felt how his legs started to shake just the slightest, his heartbeat pounded faster and he got a hard time to hold his breath even. The blood in his veins started to pour faster and he tried to swallow the blob in his throat. He tried to blink away the stars in front of his eyes but it was hopeless. Fuck, this couldn't happen. Not now. This was not the right time for a panic attack.
''I thought that I can be a good lawyer.''Mike said.''Help people.''he added. A lethal glare form his sister ,shut him up rather fast and Bastiana mocked the word as she rolled her eyes.
''Without a degree?''
''Yes!''
Bastiana unclipped her keys form her law firm and her office ,, loudly dropping them onto her isle. "You think you can do my job better than I can? Go ahead and try.I have no fight left in me. I'm done," she finished, grabbing a few personal items and tossing them into her bag before picking it up and walking out of the codno, furiously wiping at the tears falling from her eyes.
END FLASHBACK
So many sensations. So much anger, so much jealousy…so much longing to prove himself. To himself… to Bastiana. That he was worthy. He wants to proof that he was not a failure. But now the word "failure" seemed to be imprinted into his skin. It was an invisible mark that no one else except Mike could see. the young man could feel the word, "failure" imbedding itself into his skin, into his muscles and bones.
He had failed to protect Bastiana. He was a failure as a brother -for the love of god , he was only a 11 years old boy when Edith kicked Bastiana out of their house- ,he coud't do something.
He remebered the day that Bastiana showed up at his house after all this years of absent. Mike called her names ,yelled at her ,told her to go to hell and almost hit her. She left them , she had abandoned them or that he had been told by Edith. But after Mike found out the truth , he tried desperately to be a good sibling to her ; tried to offer her gifts, tried to spend as much time with her as possible, or at least as possible for a lawyer, and would strive to listen to any qualms the his sister might have. He made this effort of course with Lola, but the fact that he had messed up so severely with Bastiana, and had failed to protect his own sister, triggered an instinctive protective brotherly desire, especially given her more or less maddened state.
Mike knew it wouldn't hurt; lying never hurt him. He was just a horrible liar. That was to be expected though. He had inherited a lot from Nina, his inability to lie well more than likely came from her. Still, when he told Logan that nothing was bothering him, the guilt shouldn't have consumed him like it did. He was only doing the honorable thing; looking out for his fiance's feelings. But when the lie rolled off his tongue and past his lips, immediately causing the raven haired bussinesman's eyebrows to raise in suspicion, he felt his cheeks begin to flush. He had never been an effective liar, but that didn't mean that he certainly hadn't tried in the past.
When his siblings found out about the fake degree , he had told himself that that would be the end of his lies. He'd try not to ever lie ever again. He could go now and add that broken promise to the horde of vows that he had chosen not to fulfill. He certainly had a long list of shattered oaths.
The biggest of those broken pledges read as follows:
He would protect his siblings from everything: failed.
He would stop lying: failed.
He would be a good brother: failed.
He would stop being so resentful: failed.
Despite the years his brothers had told him he wasn't a miserable failure, Mike could only sit back and watch the results of his actions, or rather, lack of actions. He could blame Bastiana all he wanted. He could blame Trevor all he wanted. He was an adult now, Mike had to take responsibility for his actions and inactions now.
He could blame Bastiana and Sonny having a law degree , but he had no one to blame but himself for not trying harder.
And it was only his fault that he hadn't a degree. When Sonny became a lawyer , Mike had sworn to never let his envy and resentment get to him ever again, he was aware already of what a little brat he had been, uncaring for everyone else for his own personal gain and blaming Bastiana for his own faults. Now, it appeared that yet again there was another vow he had broken. Yet again, he had failed to be honorable and have clarity and own up to his personal failings. The resentment and jealousy, however, was starting to boil up. When Mike looked in the mirror, he was beginning to see shades of his old self. The one that was completely full of envy and discontentment. And it rose up within him whenever he saw Bastiana walking through the corridors' with self confidence and a smirk over her face.
There was a knock on his office door,. "Come in." Mike answered. Logan walked through the door with a smile over his face
"Hi." Mike said looking over at him.
"Hi." Logan replied back. She shut his door and walked over to his desk. Logan walked around his desk and kissed him. Mike returned the kiss and Logan felt a lot more comfortable.
"How was your day?" Logan asked.
"Shockingly quietly." Mike replied. "How was yours?"
"Shockingly relaxing as well. Lola and I booked fabulous spa." Logan said giggling.
"What are you doing here anyway?"
"Meeting got cancelled."
Mike arched an eyebrow, visibly in disbelief.
"Isn't that convenient," he commented, amused.
"Okay, I skipped," Logan confessed as he stood up. "Other CEO can suck my dick."
"I thought that was my job."
Sighing, Logan come closer until he is at Mike side. Placing both his hands on Mike cheeks before making the lawyer turns his head around so they will face one another. Their eyes locked onto one another and his face soften as Logan presences always lifted his bad mood from his harsh life.
"You have been stressing yourself with work this couple of days. I'm getting worried."
Logan has always been worried about him, always taking his time to visit Mike in his office everytime he receives a call from either Dana or the secretary whenever Mike is in one of his mood.
"What do I do, Logan?" He asked as his fiance came to sit next to him.
"You really want my opinion?"
Mike looked at Logan with a weak smile. "Yeah."
"I think…you should quit. Harvey obviously doesn't appreciate you and everything that you've done for him. You did what you had you to do, Mike and if he can't understand that then he's an asshole."
The blonde wiped a hand down his face and looked at his coffee.
"But you don't want to quit, do you," Logan stated.
''Harvey is angry at me but I don't know why!''
Logan laughed and said.''He is angry at Bestiana as stole three of his clients , he started a war with her but Bastiana is untouched.''he said to him with pride.
''Your are just an extension of Bastiana to him and wants to hurt you because she can't hurt her.'said Logan, wrapping a protective arm around his love. He couldn't help that he was protective of Mike, that he hated the idea of being hurt, especially from someone Mike's thinks as a friend.
''What are you going to do?'' Logan's frown deepened at the sceptical look on Mike's face.
''When somebody challenges you , fight back. Be brutal, be tough.''Mike said, his voice deliberately low.
"Another famous Bastiana quote," Logan groaned. Mike was silent, recollecting everything. He looked right into Logan's eyes.
So it was a shocker when Logan coldly replied no.
"What?" Mike blinked.
"I said no." Logan answered again.
That was when Mike got annoyed. "Why not?"
''Harvey Specter plays dirty and not afraid to hurt someone to get want he wants just like Bastiana. This is a war bettwen them and not you and Harvey , if Harvey wants to be angry can be at Bastiana and not at you.''Logan concluded monotonously.''This is the number one reason that we didn't wanted the other to know about the family , Mike.''
''I can hadle it.''Mike clenched his fingers into fists.
Logan blinked. "I didn't say that. I'm telling you that you don't need to be part of their war. Already Harvey has exhusted you with all his work because Bastiana took three clients of his but what will happen if Bastiana take something else?. Just stay away from them as much as you can.''
"No…if I do that, then he wins. I'll give it a couple more weeks and if he doesn't budge…then I'll start looking for another job."
Logan pursed his lips. "I'm really sorry, Mike."
"I know. It's just…I thought he would realize what happened…that i can't jsut sold my sister out. But he obviously doesn't care…I don't think he ever did."
''I'll talk to Dana, tomorrow, too. She if she can help; we can get through this together."
Mike smiled and kissed him "Thanks…what would I do without you?"
"Crash and burn,"
Harvey Specter was a selfish man
He had no problems admitting that
He never really cared about how people perceived him. People have glared and spit in his face before. They have also tried to smile and hug him. He never really cared about how people saw him; they were unimportant to him, he would never see them again. Harvey is also sarcastic, with a dry, biting sense of humor, particularly in remarks directed at people he doesn't feel particularly keen of. He would make no effort to hide his ill feelings towards them, showing it in small subtle ways like openly ignoring them or not heeding their opinions.
Harvey Specter is proud to say he's a man in control; to be an lawyer and to be a competent name partner he needs to think before letting his emotions (and impulses) get the better of him.
But it was not only that. Harvey Specter had everything ever wanted. Fame , money ,women , be a name manager partner and he always got what he wanted, at some point or another, one way or another, with the words "give up" not even being found in his personal dictionary.
Until now. He gave up trying to win Dana back or to have sex with her after found out that she been married. He gave up to earn informations by Mike for his sister , Harvey respect puppy's loyalty to his sister even he had been mad at Mike because he does not told him about his family.
But the only thing that he will not give up is to stop Bastiana Wolf and take back his clients. Harvey was firious when found out that Bastiana was told him the truth about his clients and wants to fight back ,Mike's sister or not , Bastiana Wolf will go down.
There comes a time in a fight when Harvey knows he's got the win secure. It's a thickening inside his chest, solidarity spreading shoulder to shoulder when the fight is no longer an even volley between players. His opponent is making hasty moves or making his moves spell-by-spell, executing quick plays instead of chains. Harvey can count the turns left on his hand, he can grasp the end in the foreground, the familiar taste of victory his to enjoy again. The harder fought the battle, the greater the reward coming out on top really is. It's why he enjoys worthy adversaries who can match his moves par-for-par.
But with Bastiana Wolf.
Bastiana comes alive in her ire, staring Harvey down as they spar with their words like spears, their moves like blades until they're both left bruised and bleeding on the inside, with everything on the line between them. A loss is deadly, a win only a small victory of a greater war.
War.
This was what he'd been waiting for and dreaming of. This was the fierce back and forth, the soaring exhilaration, blow, and counterblow with thoughts and hands always racing ahead to the next move. It was thrilling, it was beautiful, it was -
It was intensely arousing.
I will take you to art museums and make out with you
But they said to not touch the mastepieces
I hope your day is as pleasant as your personality!
I've been called worse things by better people.
If ignorance is bliss, you must be the happiest person on the planet.
Harvey upper lip moves a little, the start of another grin, while his blue eyes fill with amusement. God, he swears he never met somebody like her. Smart mouth, stubborn and never afraid to throw anything in his face. It is fucking adorable and playing with his cock all at the same time.
And he fucking hate her.
For one thing, her hair looked like an overgrown bird nest.
For another thing, she was such a know-it-all. It was as if she couldn't stand someone else knowing the always had to be the center-of-attention in the court.
Her legs open faster than Google's home page. Every night with a different man ,what a slut.
Who exactly did Bastiana Wolf think she was? A real lawyer? That was completely laughable. There was no way the woman could ever be considered a real lawyer. Yet, she was always holding her head up high and acting all holier-than-thou.
She was both dirty and annoying.
She had taken three of his most precious clients and was smug about that - he will had did the same thing - , something about her drives him crazy and it's been getting annoying.
He couldn't rid himself of Bastiana…Her taste, the feel of her body under his on the banks of the stream, the sound of her voice and the challenge in her beautiful eyes.
Beautiful!?
What the fuck?
For the love of god, pull your shit together and make up a plan to get rid of her. He wants Bastiana Wolf out of his life and from his firm. He wants his clients back.
Bastiana. Her name plagued his thoughts. He wanted to destroy her. He wanted her more than just powerless.
His phone started to ring broke his reverie.
''Specter!''He said in the smoothest voice he could manage.
There was a pause on the other end, "Lecter!'
"I'm starting to think that you know every single way to annoy me and exploit it to maximum effectiveness when you think I should be punished," Harvey commented dryly.
"But you love me, right?" she asked. Her tone was longer light and teasing.
Harvey almost laughed. She was a snarky young thing, for sure. He couldn't deny that she had fight in her.
It made him want to tame her.
Stop! The word was losing its power; his control was slipping. He coiled on his side, trying to extinguish the glow rippling through his abdomen, but it was spreading, and as it rose to his mind, he found himself saying:''Like Romeos loves Juliet!''
"That is the worst love story in history. Two wimpy kids couldn't get over their teenage hormones and ended up committing a double suicide. How do you even know Shakespeare, by the way?"
''My mother was fan of those books ,she never wanted our learning to be a limitation. She found us -Marcus and I- a lot of good books while I grew up. Shakespeare was a challenge though. I think Helen of Troy is the worst love story in the history of love stories."
"Why is that?" She laughs at him.
"Two men fighting over a woman that broke out into a war killing thousands. If she was smart she'd kill the bastards herself and rule over both countries." Harvey laughs quietly. The sound of Bastiana's raspy morning voice putting him into a sensation of peace. "Babe? Are you falling asleep on me ?"
''Call me babe and I will skin you alive!''Bastiana hissed.
"Don't tell me you didn't enjoy it," said Harvey.''What about queen B!. It has a nice ring'
"Don't even think about it. The only people allowed to call me that are Sonny and Spencer when she wants something." Bastiana explained.
"I prefer Tiana"
Ignoring the fact that Harvey sound smug, she snapped, ''Don't call me that."
''Why not'' Was the reply.''Your brothers call your Tiana don't they not?''
Unknowning to him , that comment earned him a glare.''Okay , firt of all , my brothers can caqll me whatever they want , you can't, And second- they dont call me by that nickname.''
''Speaking for your brothers.''Harvey said quiently, voice filled with amusement.''He looks like a kicked puppy''
''It is family bussines!''
''Well , he works for me.''
Referencing that Mike works for him was not going to help the smug bastard stay alive after she got her hands on him.
''like I said it's family bussines''She snapped.''Something that you can't understand because you dont have family.''
''Watch your mouth ,Wolf.''Harvey said softly, but it was his dangerous voice.
''Or what?''Bastiana's voice filled with sarcasm was already dangerously high.
Harvey felt rage. His anger rose to a climax higher than he ever expeirenced. Still he did nothing as hearing Bastiana laughs. He was blinded by anger. Scorching hot anger. Anger had slithered into his veins like a venomous snake, filling his heart with poison.
With his features twisted in rage, Harvey slammed a fist down on his desk. His cold voice echoed through the office when he thundered.''I will take everything from you. Your firm , clients, money and every desk or pen which it is be at your fucking firm. I will use all my power to take you down until you beg me to stop..''
Harvey almost had a heart attack when Bastiana started laughing.
"What the hell are you laughing about?" Harvey snapped.
"I do not respond to threats.." She trailed off. " I make them" She said with a husky voice
" Oh really?." He giggled.
''Yes.''
''What you will do?''
''I will take everything from you.''Venom dripped from Bastiana's tone of voice.''Your money , your clients , every pencil and papper. I will be the one who will take your name out of the wall , I will be the one you will destroy your office using a bat , I will be the one to blame when you will walk on your office to find it empty or without your precious secretary. I will make every one to leave you like your dear brother or your mother..''
Harvey exhaled in an attempt to calm himself because all he wanted to is to do right now was strangle the woman.
He was just not going to let that happen.
''Nice speech''was the first word that came out from him after Bastiana had finished with her threats.
''I am very good at what I do. I am better at it than anyone else. And that is not arrogance, that is a fact.''She explained seriously.
He needs a plan. A plan to destroy her or he could break her. It hit him like a lightning from a clear sky, spreading terrible thoughts in his darkened mind. He could play with her and then break her. How deliciously horrible. Make her fall in love with him and then..
"You remember the Bar's charity ball?"Harvey finally said, surprising Bastiana with his sudden change of tone. Instead of a growling hatred, he now displayed a cool and calculated seriousness which she had not expected him to able to mobilize in his current situation. The man leaned back in his chair.
"I hate that shit but yes."Bastiana stated suddenly. "Why?"
"I want you to be my date.!"
"Yes ,please," she begged silently. Her plead was sweet music to his ears, and a smirk was brought to his face. Yes, indeed he could break her. And he would enjoy it.
Out of blue the woman started laughing. It was a manic laughter that would have terrified anyone who heard it. Harvey's eyes went wide with shock at the sound of Bastiana's laugh.
''I am not a toy that you can play with when you're bored or lonely or horny.
A shiver ran up Harvey's spine.
"I am not the girl the guy gets at the end of the movie. I am not a fantasy. If you want me, earn me! Until then, we are done.''
And with that Bastiana hang up the phone while a shocked Harvey stayed to staring at it. Harvey may or may not have thrown his phone across the room after that last text. Donna looks up in time to see the small object land on the couch.
''Are you ok?'' Donna's voice is clipped and professional as it booms over his speaker, and he filters out another breath before replying.
''I am ok," Harvey hissed, dropping his head into his hands and closing his eyes. He tugged at his hair, grumbling lowly under his breath and letting out harsh breaths through his nose.
Harvey Specter really hated Bastiana Wolf, and he made sure that Jessica, Donna even the coffee guy knew about it. For some reason, all three of them would always give him knowing looks whenever he mentioned her. What were they getting at?
The garden of Carisi-Dodds was laced from fence to fence with paper lanterns, the round domes spilling golden light over the dance floor and grass. All the family and some friends of the couple were celebrating their wedding anniversary.
Sonny was having a pretty good evening despite Bastiana not being present. It helped that everyone had made an effort to dress up and they all seemed to be enjoying themselves immensely and getting completely into the spirit of the party. The music on the jukebox had been playing a wide selection of hits from across the decade since the party started, with the help of a bright blue brother-suited DJ who was making the choices, and there were plenty of people up on the dance floor, jiving and bopping to the wonderful music.
Others were sitting in the booths or at tables, enjoying classic burgers and fries with thick milkshakes served to them by waitresses dressed perfectly for the occasion. Even the serving staff behind the bar were dressed up, providing cocktails and beer for those who wanted something a little stronger than malt shakes.
The outfits were spectacular and it was clear his friends and family had taken the trouble to please them by getting them just right. They were so well thought out and executed that Sonny honestly believed it was possible to mistake the party for the real 1950s;
Sonny had been particularly pleased although a little surprised to see Chief Dodds's arrives, dressed in immaculately perfect Hollywood fifties style. William Dodds was wearing an expensive tailored suit in silver grey, the cut not quite as flamboyant as the traditional Teddy Boy suits worn by many of the guests but running along sleeker lines, his long hair hidden under a hat.
'You have created something truly impressive here, Sonny,' Dodds told him admiringly as he handed Sonny a large box covered in shiny red paper with gold ribbons and a massive bow.
Sonny accepted the gift gracefully, then kissed him on the cheek to thank him for the present.
'Thank you, Will. We did put in a lot of hard work to make it look authentic. I'm really pleased with how it turned out, especially with everyone making the effort to dress up properly as well. It's absolutely brilliant.'
He smiled almost fondly at Sonny, his voice becoming softer as she added, 'I am so sorry that Bastiana isn't here tonight, Sonny. I'm sure you must be missing her.'
Sonny's smile faded at the mention of his sister. He really was missing Bastiana, even if she had been unfair to him. Surely he wasn't being unreasonable in wanting her to attend his party, was he?
Will and Sonny talk while the younger man looked across the dance floor and saw Amy Santiago coming towards them.
His friend had elected to go for a more casual look and rather than sporting something with a flouncy skirt she was wearing black capris with a short red and white striped Roman shirt and black ballet pumps, her long red hair twisted into a chic look that perfectly matched the outfit. She had Detective Jake Peralta with her, who was wearing the most outrageous and over the top Teddy Boy suit Sonny had seen all evening
Jake swept Sonny up into a massive hug before pulling a small wrapped box from his pocket and presenting it to Sonnh with a flourish and a low bow. Sonny grinned at him.
'Thank you, Jake. I love your suit.'
'It is pretty special, isn't it? I thought it was only right I made the effort considering how much trouble you and Michael have gone to with the decorating. It really is spectacular.'
'They did work hard on it, didn't they, Sonny?' Amy said. She held out her own gift, wrapped in blue paper.
Sonny took it and turned back to the booth, adding them to the pile.
'Do you two want a drink?' Jake asked. Amy and Sonny both shook their heads. Shrugging, Jake left them to talk and made his way to the bar, joining Neal and Mike Dodds who were sitting on round stools.
'Everyone's saying how fantastic the party is,' Amy confided happily as she linked arms with Sonny. 'Your suit is amazing, even better than you described it.' Amy considered for a moment, then added, 'Do you think my outfit looks okay? I thought I'd go for something different but I seem to be a bit out of place. I think I'm the only girl here wearing trousers.'
'I think you look good,' Sonny assured her. 'I love the look and it's just as relevant as these dresses. Loads of women in fifties films wore trousers like that. You look like Audrey Hepburn – she was an amazing style icon.'
'Do you want to dance?' Amy asked. 'I tried to get Jake and your husband up earlier but I think they're welded to those stools. They're just sitting there talking about football, as usual.' She rolled her eyes.
'Let's have a go at jiving,' Sonny said as the jukebox clicked over to the next record. Bill Hailey and the Comets' Rock Around the Clock started up as she followed Amy to the dance floor.
He and Amy began to dance.
'So, Bastiana really didn't come to the party, then,' Amy said tentatively. 'I honestly thought she would see sense and change her mind.'
Sonny shook his head, trying to keep his voice light as he replied, 'No, she went to Miami. Her work is more important to her than I us.'
Amy frowned. 'I don't believe that's true, Sonny.'
Sonny shrugged nonchalantly. 'It must be or she'd be here, wouldn't she? Even my father-in-law is unhappy with her for her decision but it didn't make any difference, she still went.'
"Mind if I step in," Michael Dodds asked as he approached.
Amy looked at Sonny who nodded his consent. Amy stepped back and let Dodds take her place as Sonny's dance partner. Sonny smiled, taking Doddss hand and allowing himself to be pulled up against his husband's chest. Sonny hummed against him, kissing softly at the inside of Mike's neck.
They swayed gently for a while, to the sounds of "Can't Help Falling in Love" by Elvis Presley filling out the garden. They talked for several minutes, about nothing in particular, just enjoying one another.
Dodds stopped, face to face with him, grabbing Sonny's face, and shoved his lips against Sonny's. He felt rather than heard Sonny gasp for air against his lips, before he returned the kiss in full force. He felt Sonny's arms circle his waist, holding him close. Under his thumbs, he could feel the still-wet tear tracks on Sonny's cheeks, and he wiped them away gently.
Mike pulled away, touching their foreheads together, to say, "I love you." Another smile, the most genuine one he had seen on Sonny's face since the party began.
A loud wolf-whistle broke them out of their reverie. Sonny and Mike both turned to look sheepishly at the rest of their friends and family, who all stood together, varying shades of amusement on their faces.
"All this love will make me puke"
That voice, Sonny would have recognized it anywhere, but what was she doing here. He blinked a few times to focus on the lawyer better. Bastiana was encased, starlet-like, in an exquisite floor length ivory gown that skimmed her tall lean figure, a sharp counterpoint to the poodle skirts and ankle socks that seemed to be popular amongst Sonny's friends. Her usually curled hair had been straight; Sonny thought she looked a bit like Jayne Mansfield.
The two siblings were looking at each other and really didn't notice anyone else any more.
"I want you shot you right now ,you're lucky you're pretty."There was a pained look on the woman's face as he spoke.
Bastiana paused in taking off her jacket. "Bitch, I'm fabulous," she replied. They both tried to keep a straight face but ended up snickering anyway.
Bastiana ignored Mike Dodsd' sigh and firmly added."We swore a vow!"
That was when the brothers realized.
Bastiana was not all about money. Bastiana would leave all the money in the world just to be with them when they needed her.
Bastiana Wolf was all about Family.
Tell me your thoughts!
