Honestly Reid has no idea how long he has been sitting alone in the waiting room as it seems like time has lost all meaning. Every single time he hears footsteps Reid looks up, hoping that it's someone who will give him answers about his little brother, but it never is.
When he had gotten the call he had been halfway to the BAU wanting nothing more than to get lost in the paperwork and routine of the work. It had been one hell of a week and having some time to himself so he could try to figure out what had happened sounded like perfection.
Then Amy had called and what little grasp he had on the calm he tried to surrounded himself with shattered. She hadn't given much detail outside of telling him that Mike was in the hospital but that had been all he needed.
More than a few laws had been broken by him on that drive.
He hadn't been thinking about that though. No, his mind had been filled with the sound of Mike growling angrily as he stormed out of the apartment slamming the door shut behind him. The third time that had happened this week alone. Something that wasn't normal for either of them.
Spencer wasn't the type of person to argue over petty things. He knew that there was no reason for it. All it would lead to was him and whoever he was fighting with having a horrible day. That was the last thing that he wanted.
For some reason everything had been piling up that week until even the most simple thing had him wanting to pull his own hair out. Which seemed to be exactly what Mike had been feeling as well.
The Ross's love and hate each other in equal measure, despite all the drama and death threats. They are finally a family, I against my siblings, my siblings and I against you but what is family without a little drama?
The young doctor glance at the other members of the family. Dana followed by Neal, arrived at that precise moment. When the emergency room doors slid open again, another medical team went into action.
Sonny was driving Dodds and Lola crazy by pacing up and down the hospital waiting hall. Lola had never seen him like that before… this… lost and terrified. He reminded her of a lion in a cage.
Lola walks over and sits down next to Logan, who hasn't looked up for a second.
Seeing her friend looking so far from okay Lola looks over him and to Sonny.
"He's not okay." Sonny mouths to Lola who frowns as she's come to realise that Logan, who was watching the whole scene, felt so helpless, and guilty. Even though he knew full well that this wasn't his fault, he was at the base of what had happened to Mike. If Specter hadn't tried to fight with Bastiana or Logan tried to stop Mike for overworked himself, Mike wouldn't have worked almost 24/7 to try to clear stop the war between Bastiana and Harvey.
"I'm going to get more coffee." Lola says standing up, feeling better about leaving Logan now that Sonny is there, "Anyone else want one?" she asks and everyone, except for Logan, either nods or says yes and so Lola gets up and heads out of the room.
"Logan." Sonny says to his future brother-in-law after Lola leaves .
"I don't want to talk." Logan says, his voice muffled as with more time passing he doesn't know whether to assume it means something good or something bad, all he knows is that if he doesn't get some news about Mike soon he may just completely loose it, though truthfully he's not holding it together too well as it is.
"Okay." Sonny says, reaching out and patting Logan's back in comfort.
A few minutes later Logan returns to the room carrying not just coffee but some sandwiches, which she puts on the table allowing everyone to grab, once she does that she takes one of the coffee's, and one of the sandwiches and walks over to Logan.
"Here, you need to eat." Lola says handing Logan the coffee and sandwich.
"I'm fine." Logan answers taking the coffee, but leaving the sandwich be.
"Logan, you're going to need strength." Sonny tells him.
"I couldn't eat even if I wanted to." Logan admits, Sonny and Lola exchange worried looks, both becoming even more worried as they hope that they get news about Mike soon as the waiting is starting to feel like hell.
It has been two hours since Bastiana arrived at the hospital and ever since everyone has been sitting in silence, becoming even more worried with every minute that passes as they desperately want to know how Mike is, they want to know that he is okay.
Bastiana stood there in the middle of the corridor. There were talks and whispered all around but she couldn't hear or see them. She couldn't feel the cold either. All she could feel was the rage and anger that was burning in her veins as she swore revenge.
"I need some coffee," Bastiana said suddenly, and she left without another word. Neal, Spencer and Sonny looked at each other in silence.
Bastiana needed some coffee, yes, but what she really needed was to get out of here. Out of these hospital walls. She felt suddenly trapped; she would suffocate if she didn't get out, even if it only would be for a few minutes, so she walked straight forward through the corridors that leaded to the exit doors. She needed some fresh air, rain even.
Rain would maybe work like a shower and wash all the fears and anguish she was feeling inside, she felt helpless, and suddenly she had the feeling she had gotten older by ten year. All of this, this situation was only a horrible – the most horrifying nightmare she had ever had - she would soon wake up. Yeah that was the only plausible explanation. She was dreaming.
Mike wasn't in the ER of the hospital, no he was safe… safe in his house, listening to his own voice and planning his wedding. Yeah, that is what he was doing. Mike was a ockroache he couldn't possibly be deadly wounded.
How could something like that happen? How was it that she hadn't seen it coming? how could ahe have been that blind? had she been that mislead? Did she misjudge Specter like that, that man hurt the her brother because of her.
Bastiana was starting to feel sick. Sick of people, who, were acting on vengeance. It might feel good in the beginning, but then when that feeling fades away slowly and it's as slowly replaced by pain and emptiness and those are actually the feelings you are left to live with… the people you ones loved never come back, never love or never say they love you ever again. All you are left with are memories, the only thing that no one will ever take away from you.
She was way too familiar with that feeling for her own liking.
As she had wished for, it was raining outside; Bastiana gladly stepped in the outside world, and looked at the grey sky above her. Closing her eyes for a few seconds as the rain drops hit her face. They were cold and it felt good as they rolled down her face, her costume was getting wet, but that was really nothing she cared about.
It was slowly getting dark, and take a walk to the coffee-shop would do her good. With a little luck, her head would cool off a bit as well.
Inwhile, Harvey was afraid to go to Mike knowing that all members of his family will be there. God, this was definitely his fault; Mike never went to the hospital because Harvey had worked the kid to death. Literally.
He wanted to hurt Bastiana, instead he used Mike as a punchbag for his anger.
It was a war between them. Not Mike, not Jessica or someone else. He was Harvey Specter. But she was Bastiana wolf. And though he would never admit it, the moment he heard Bastiana say," You, me, no limits." He knew, he knew that this war was one he was going to lose.
FLASHBACK
He went for madness, slamming the door open to her office,
"You complete and utter bitch!"
Bastiana looked up in alarm hearing the angry man "Love you too dear."
"When we're you going to tell me?"
Harvey knew better than to believe the look of innocence, or, the question of, "Tell you what?"
''You want to take Mike.''
Bastiana shrugged, ''He is my brother''
''He was my associate''Harvey replied.
"I'm sorry, but the key terms here are 'was my associate',''Bastiana retorted.''I am his sister''
His eyes held the fierce stubbornness that made most everyone (except Bastiana, of course, because someone had to stand up to him) tremble; his regal jaw was set just this side of arrogant.
''You call yourself a sister?''He shot back.''Where have you been when he had problem with the weed or your too busy for him ? Or maybe he's just a waste of time to you as well, not worth his oh so mighty sister's attention." He almost yelled as he made his way around the desk to glare down at her.
Bastiana stood up, forcing Harvey to look up at her. "Get out!" She said, her voice dangerously calm.
"No!" He glared at her. "You don't scare me. I was the one who helped him. Where the fuck have you been?''
"SHUT UP!" Bastiana yelled, grabbing the front of his clothes and shoving his in the glass wall behind her desk.
Harvey stared up at her, he was too angry to feel pain or fear, he started in her eyes, but what he saw in them made his anger fade away quickly. He could see it in her eyes, all the pain, the guilt, the anger, the sadness, the misery and fear of a lifetime, all bottled up inside her heart, never too be seen by anyone. It only lasted a second, but he saw it all. Bastiana let him go and glaring down at him, her eyes back to being the endless pits of ice he was used to see.
She knew her mask slipped and she knew he saw it, there was new tension in the air as Harvey quickly walked back to the door, still shaken by everything he saw, but he still stopped at the door.
"You, me." He said, not turning around. "No limits."
END FLASHBACK
Harvey was walking slowly toward the hospital , wondering about his favorite puppy when he suddenly felt extremely cold, as if he was standing in the middle of the North Pole. He felt like he was frozen.
"Bastiana…" he murmured.
The woman is smiling, but it's not a good smile. No, this smile is the kind that sends chills down spines and makes grown men wet themselves.
Harvey would know.
Neal wrapped a protective arm around the pregnant woman's waist while Dodds and Spencer put their hands on Logan's shoulder and Sonny pulled Lola gently into his arms. They know that something was wrong with Bastian, hair was disarrayed, breathing uneven and her eyes...
Sweet merciful God!
They had never seen hee look so incensed and it scared them a little. She looked feral, intimidating and so damn savage.
"I can explain." Harbey pleads, and Sonny wants to snap his neck because he has no right! He violated his brother, used him. Bastiana makes a strangled noise, and Lola with Dodds had to grab the back of Logan and Neal's jacket so they doesn't actually kill the pathetic lawyer in front of them. Their little brother is in pain, theirs hurting and the overwhelming urge to protect, to keep safe thrums behind his rib cage. Bastiana turns away from Harvey and turns to face Neal.
"Take Dana away from here the stress in not good for her or the baby amd someone go to find a fucking doctor."She said and Neal gives a positive signal while Sonny and Lola took off to find a doctor.
Lola and Sonny walk through the doors and into the hospital Sonny starts to looking around for some kind of answer about where he should go, what he should go, and as he does he spots the welcome desk so he hurries over to it.
"How…." The person starts to say.
"Michael Ross, I need to speak with a doctor" Sonny said, cutting the person off before they can even finish the question.
"Give me a second." The person requests typing into the computer,"The doctor is coming."
As they the duo once more hears footsteps they look towards the door and they see a person who is clearly a doctor, as she is in scrubs, walking towards them.
"Sonny." Lola says to her friend and Sonny looks up to see the doctor and the second he does Sonny is out of his seat in a second.
"Family of Mike Ross?" The doctor asks.
"Yes."
They sat down and knew it wasn't going to be good. "What's wrong with him?" Lola asked shakily as Dr. Rogers sat next to them. "Is he okay?"
The doctor exhaled heavily. "Sadly, no; his condition is grim at the moment. Mike contracted strep throat and it hadn't been treated for over three weeks, giving him a severe case of rheumatic fever. Upon arrival, his fever spiked up to 105 degrees and he stopped breathing for a minute and a half. We had to give him an ice bath so his body wouldn't fry up. And the fact that he was suffering from dehydration, malnutrition and was sleep deprived didn't help his condition."
Lola and Sonny shared a worried look.
To the other side of the hospital Bastiana was glaring at a very guilty Harvey.
She glared over at Harvey. "We need to talk."
"I'll be somewhere else." Dodds took the hint.
"Outside?" Harvey asked.
Harvey made his way out back and into the parking lot, Bastiana just a few steps behind. Once they were towards the back edge, Harvey turned around.
"I am sorry."
"Good." Bastiana turned as if to walk away then spun around her fist making contact with Harvey's jaw. The man stumbled backwards then leaned down resting his hands on his thighs.
"I should lay you out where you stand." She growled.
Harvey took a step back.
Harvey pursed his lips and stepped into the room. "Bastiana, we're sorry and we're gonna do everything to make it up to him. To help him."
"Help him?" Bastiana laughed humorlessly, seeming more alert. She crossed her arms and scowled at Harvey. "Oh please, I think…you've done enough of that- or very little of it, anyways.
"Bastiana-"
She flexed her sore hand as she glared at him." The war was supposed to be between us."
"You can break my soul, take my life away, beat me, hurt me, kill me, but for the love of God don 't touch them."She snaps."Why the fuck you did that to him?"
Months of being on edge and skirting around the issue seems to have finally gotten to Harvey when he blurts out before he can even attempt to stop himself "You"
"Me" Bastiana replies "I've got your head messed up?" She actually looks a bit hurt at this if Harvey bothered to look at Bastiana she would have noticed, instead he just heard the incredulity and a bit of anger in Bastiana words.
Yes you, ok " Harvey says
Bastiana, confused and hurt reacts with is natural default emotion; anger.
"Me what the hell did I do" She explodes.
Harvey rants pacing the parking lot, it was as if a dam was broken and all his thought for the last 6 months came tumbling out as if they couldn't get out fast enough and with them came all the anger, resentment, fear and loss."You have been drove me crazy for the last six months, I tried to hurt you but you stay the cold bitch you are now. You pushed my buttons like no one else ,I liked the tension between us and the fight but I wanted to see you down. At first I tried to punish Mike for lying to me and the fact that at our firt trial you beat me. Mike should tell me that the fucking snowwoman was you and I had jealous when he told me that his trust lying at you ,because I was the one who put his life, his money, his career at the line for him. I had help him with Edith and Trevor while you were I dont know where the fuck you where. I am sorry, I never want to hurt him and...''
''Why are you acting as if you care? I mean, you caring about Mike's well-being and not just taking advantage of him is quite impossible to imagine. don't you say?"
Bastiana blinked slowly and Harvey could tell she was thrown off, and wasn't that shocking as hell, no one threw Bastiana Wolf off of her snowwoman act, in public, ever.
"Listen," She bites her lower lip and Harvey feels sick, because he can't tell if it's just a habitual gesture or a fully intended distraction technique. If Bastiana makes it on purpose, then it's cruel and low of him to use that. But if it really is just his oral fixation, then Harvey is a paranoid asshole. Either way, Harvey feels his insides churn, but can't stop starring. Bastiana looks so intense and desperate.''I dont give a shit about you're sorry, my brother is at hospital and it is your damned fult."You can drag me, my name to the mud, you can call me a bicth and a heartless and a murderer and I won't deny any of these." Bastiana leans closer and Harvey stands his ground even though he wants nothing more than to scoot away from the woman. "But if there's something I won't tolerate, it's you accusing me of not caring about my loved ones, that they just don't matter to me. That I'm just using them before I gets bored and throws them away. Because my brothers does matter to me."
Harvey gulps when Bastiana's eyes just flashes, the anger, oh no, the rage visible on her features.
''You will stay the hell away from him,''She snarled.''You will stay away from me,''
Harvey stared blankly at the blonde mess in front of him. Time it felt, had stopped. His entire body felt numb, frozen in that second, Bastiana's voice echoing those words on repeat in his mind.
'Stay will away from me...'
His lungs tightened. His breathing increased. Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide entered his blood stream to often and to fast, but he didn't care.
He couldn't move. He desperately wanted to comfort the distraught boy, but he couldn't. His limbs were frozen in place, keeping him from moving at all.
He opened his mouth to say something, but no words were found. He just stared at Bastiana and for the first time in Harvey's life, he was truly speechless.
While Bastiana was put Harvey in his place , Logan and the doctor arrived at the ICU. Walking into the room Logan can't help but hold in his gasp as he sees Mike, looking so hurt and so small lying in the bed. It hurts him to see the man he is in love with like that, Mike looked like complete shit; his face was pasty and covered with a thin layer of sweat. His expression was pained and occasionally his hands would twitch. His eyes, which had almost seemed sunken, were opened half-mast, the normally bright blue orbs glazed over and dull. This wasn't Mike; this was a shell of him. Logan sniffed, walking over to Mike and placing a hand on Mike's cold one.
Outside of Mike's room, all the siblings were sitting down on the floor. Dominic, Neal and Spencer did not care about their clothes as the only thought they had in their mind was their little brother. Since his birth ,the older silbings swore to protect Mike with their lives and now, he was at hospital, they failed to him. They had left him alone for years but they were with him now, they going to fight and wil be better than before.
Throughout Mike's hospital stay, Harvey and Donna weren't allowed to see him. He didn't want any visitors except for his family. No matter how many times Harvey tried to get in, he was always stopped. When he had gone home after Bastiana basically kicked him out, he went to go read up on rheumatic fever. It just made him feel worse knowing that he was the reason Mike had heart failure. He had barely slept that night. He had to make this better.
It had been six days which he stays at hospital fighting with his fiance and siblings to be out of the bed and now, blew out a deep breath as he watched the football game. He was alone in the apartment he and Logan shared and there was nothing to do. He has tendered his resignation to Jessica three days ago and didn't want to actually work for someone anymore, right now he would be happy with just doing briefs. Logan wouldn't be home for another five hours; what the hell was he supposed to do? The first three days all he did was sleep, but now that he was recovering, he wasn't tired all the time. And he couldn't ride his bike either or even smoke weed, not that he would. He suddenly heard a knock on the door and he perked up. Mike headed for the door and opened it to see disappointment.
"Harvey," he said flatly.
"I know I'm the last person you want to see right now," the older man said.
"You're right, you are." And he started to close the door.
"Mike wait," Harvey stuck his foot in the door to stop it. "Can we just talk?"
"No, now can you let me shut my door?"
"No, I'm not going until you and I talk."
"Why can't you just let it go?!" Mike shouted. "You destroyed my life! I can never go back to the normal one that I had." Tears welled up in Mike's blue eyes. "I told you how sorry I was…that it wasn't my fault and now…" something wasn't right…he couldn't breathe and he felt light-headed all of a sudden.
"Mike? What's the matter?" The kid was breathing heavily and he looked like he was in pain, Harvey pushed the door open and let himself in. "Mike, talk to me!"
"C-Can't breathe." A cold sweat was breaking out on his face and his legs were weakening. "H-Harvey."
"Shit." He grabbed Mike's arm and helped him sit down. "Take it easy."
Mike could hear Harvey's voice but it sounded so far away. It echoed in his mind and that was the last thing he heard before succumbing to darkness.
Mike went limp in his grasp and Harvey swore loudly. He laid Mike down and felt his pulse. His heartbeat was erratic and his face was burning up. Fuck, he riled the kid up and nearly killed him. He needed to call Logan.
When Mike regained consciousness, he felt like shit. He could hear a very angry female voice coming from somewhere and it was hurting his head.
"…hell were you even doing here? He's supposed to be resting and not get stressed out! You could've killed him!"
"Logan, I apologize. It was a stupid thing to do." A deeper voice; it sounded like Harvey.
Logan? Was she back from work already? "L-Logan?" He moaned. He felt a presence come up near him and a hand touch his feverish forehead.
"Mike? Sweetie, can you hear me?"
His eyes fluttered open and a worried Logan swam into view. "What happ'n'd?"
"You didn't take your pills today, did you Mike. You scared the hell out of me."
"S-Sorry," he smiled weakly and swallowed a couple pills that Logan had in her hand before rolling his head towards the back of the couch, falling asleep once again.
Logan sighed sadly before standing up to turn to Harvey. "You're lucky. He doesn't need the stress, Specter. You need to leave and stop trying to talk to him. If he wants to talk to you then he will, but leave him alone."
Harvey inhaled and nodded before leaving. The man went back over to Mike, placing a wet cloth on his forehead and bringing the blanket up to his shoulders. "Don't scare me like that again, Mike," Logan whispered, stroking his hair. "I can't lose you."
After a few minutes Bastiana stared at the phone as if she couldn't believe it was true. That idiot, asshole lawyer was visited her brothers while he had been told to stay away from him.
Bastiana growled furiously as she wanted to haul her cell phone against the wall and smash it into pieces. She didn't do any of that as instead, she called up her driver. "It's me, I have somewhere to go to…"
Travis stared at his friend who walked past him towards the elevator. "Hey Bastiana, what about that meeting you have in 5 minutes."
She glared at him for a second not even stopping and then looked to Amy who looked as stunned about her actions as Travis was. It wasn't like Bastiana Wolf to go against his carefully organized plans. In fact the secretary was often surprised that her toilet breaks weren't scheduled. "Move my appointments for today, I'm gone." She said surprising her even more.
"But they'll be on their way by now." Amy said stunned.
"Screw them." Bastiana all but screamed at the poor girl, already entering the elevator. "I'm busy."
Travis was stunned for so long that he needed to hold the doors open with a hand before he could get inside with Bastiana, earning himself a death glare. "What's going on?" He asked looking at her and noticing from the corner of his eyes that the button to the parking space bellow the building was lit, meaning that Bastiana intended to take her own, spare car that was usually parked right next to the elevator, instead of using her limousine.
"I need to go somewhere." Bastiana just answered glaring at the control buttons of the elevator and pressing the one for the floor she wanted to reach again.
"It won't get any faster just because you repress the buttons." Travis said with a grin, remembering how often Bastiana had told him the same thing when he was running late to see Amy due to a hold up at the office, and earning himself another death glare from his boss. Which was rare enough once a day, never mind twice. She must really be in a rush. "Tell me my big bad boss, where are you going in such a rush, because I won't let you go there alone anyway, never mind letting you drive in that condition."
"I don't know what you mean." Bastiana more growled then said, "I'm in a perfect condition and will drive myself."
"Yeah right." Travis said "I don't know why you're so strange right now but you act like someone is dying if you won't make it there in time. I'm not going to let you drive like that. It's bad enough that Mike was in a hospital room six days ego , I don't need you lying there too."
''He visited him''Bastiana simply said.
''What?''Travis asked not getting what he meant at all.
''Specter visited my brother''Bastiana replied.
"He visited my brother." Bastiana just repeated himself and then said "I go to see Specter, so I'm driving."
"No way." Travis said and once the elevator opened he ran to the car and was in the drivers seat first.
"Get out or move over but I'M driving." Bastiana said with another death glare.
"Give me the keys or call the limousine to pick you up but you aren't driving." Travis insisted holding on to the steering wheel for dear life, eying Bastiana's clenched fists. So far she had never hit him, so he shouldn't worry about them, but so far Travis had never seen his boss in such a state so who knew. Bastiana's arms where shaking with anger and she glared at him like she had never done before, in fact Travis couldn't remember to ever see such a bad glare on his boss face and that really meant something. "Even if you hit me, I won't let you drive."Travis pointed out happy that he had made a drivers license even though Bastiana had pointed out to him that he didn't really need one on multiple occasions. "You're not going to get me out of here."
Bastiana stared but her glare lessened momentarily, shocked that Travis feared to get hit by her, and her look became more surprised then angry for a split second but then her glare increased again. "Fine." She finally said, threw the keys into her friends lap and walked towards the passenger seat.
From the other side of New York ,Harvey can't focus on his work anymore, after the visit to Mike. The conversation kept on repeating and repeating on his head like a broken record, and no amount of caffeine or work can't pull him out of his funk. Finally, he surrendered and admitted to himself that he has to get Mike, that he needed Mike.
'Since when have I been dependent to Mike?'
He gave an exasperated sigh before pushing the intercom button.
"Donna, I'm heading heading out. Clear my schedule until three."
"Already done it boss." was the reply
The male lawyer can't help but smile. The employees of the firm are right on fearing the all knowing knowledge of Donna. Straightening up his suit, he made his way to the managing partner's office. He strode with much confidence that he could muster, so that he won't be picking his pride at the floor. Specter can already see the conversation that is going to happen between him and his former boss. He knows the sadistic side of Jessica, and there is a high possibility that she'll mock him first before she gives up Mike
Upon arriving at the usual open door of Jessica.
"Jessica, I want Mike back." he said, without beating behind the bush
Jessica, who was currently on her laptop stopped at the middle of what she was typing and looked at the other partner with an amused smile.
"Sorry Harvey, he's gone." the managing partner replied, her voice is light coupled with coldness. Jessica and Olivia had been spent four days at the condo of Bastiana trying to stop her from killing Harvey and Donna, both of the women were fond of Bastiana's family and spent a lot of time with them. Jessica was mad at Donna and Harvey about their behavior toward Mike.
"Can't you bring him back, Jess?" Harvey's soft voice broke the silence, but not the tension.
"No!" Jessica shot back.''You broke the poor kid, Harvey. Because of your war with Bastiana. You and Donna threated Mike like he was the enemy because of her, I stayed with Bastiana for four days because she wanted to kill you and sue you.''
''He is my guy''He yelled back.
Jessica sat behind her desk and pursed her lips again. "You weren't there next to him those last days waiting for him to wake up, hoping that he was going to wake up, while you just left him there to die.''
''Bastiana..''Harvey says.
''This thing has nothing to do with Bastiana and I'm talking about you have a problem, and it doesn't have anything to do with Bastiana. And you just expose it by bringing up some paranoid bullshit about Mike Ross going with Bastiana. Because this all started when Dana left you, and you were afraid that Mike's going to do the same thing." Hearing someone say it loud somehow made his fear infinitely worse. And just like that, Harvey felt his pulse quicken uncontrollably and his vision deserted him. Oh no, not again.
He left Jessica's office, not really seeing anyone or anything, and made a beeline for the water in his office.
" Long day?" Came a familiar, but totally unexpected voice.
" What the Hell?" Harvey yelled in shock as he whirled around to see none other that Bastiana Wolf sitting the in chair Harvey kept in the far corner of his office
" Wolf?" Harvey said in disbelief.
Bastiana sat in the chair looking downright regal and aloof. Her expression betrayed nothing of her true feelings.
"What are you doing here?"
"Sitting on your 3 thousand dollar couch Romeo." was the sarcastic reply
Donna laughed at the intercom, which made Harvey glare at her. Donna being Donna just ignored her boss and continued typing on her computer, as if nothing has happened. Specter then turned his attention back to the female lawyer on his couch, who is now clearly typing something on her phone.
"You have an office, a fully furnished office, which we spent almost twenty-five thousand dollars for your shit." Specter pointed out "How did you even pass by Donna?"
"Sorry boss, she got that weird ninja moves." Donna's voice floated from the intercom "Plus, she just sent me this gorgeous Jimmy Choos."
Harvey sighed, closing the lid of his laptop, focusing on the unwanted visitor.
"You haven't answered the question Goldilocks. Why are you here?"
'"I can't believe how much of a heartless bastard you are." She said, disgust dripping from her voice.''I fucking told you to stay away from him.''
"Can we talk about this?" Harvey said quietly.
''You have not right to be near him.''
''He is my guy''He said, his voice dangerously calm.
Bastiana and Harvey were, by now, glaring at each other, and judging by the duration, Bastiana was the only one who was able to hold Specter's look. They all knew that and waited for the outcome.
"Why are they smiling at each other silently the scariest thing I've ever seen in my entire life?"Harold Gunderson said and Elisa the secretary of Jessica noded.
"I can't watch this. This is too scary."Jimmy Kirkwood said.
"I wish I had popcorn right now," Kyle Durant whispered.
Less harsh, sweeter. No one didn't even care if they were eavesdropping anymore; Bastiana Wolf and Harvey Specter the number one soap opera of Pearson-Specter and Wolf-Wilson and everyone was hooked with a front-row seat.
''He is not your guy.''Bastiana said, making her presence known once again.
"What?"
"Where are you going?" asked Harvey gripping the arm of the woman while she was walking toward the elevator.
"My brother was at hospital because of you! " Her voice turned into poison and if looks could kill, Harvey Specter would be more dead than he already felt.
"I am so recording this."
The older man pursed his lips. "Fine. You're somewhat right. I feel horrible about what I did to him. I crossed the line and now we're both suffering the consequences. I knew deep down what I was doing was inhumane but I couldn't stop being a stubborn ass. And you're right; maybe…maybe if this didn't happen, if I hadn't dumped all that work on him because of my anger at you . But Bastiana, I really do care about Mike."
He wants Bastiana to shudder, to see her angry, pissed, mumbling indignant excuses. But there is just another dead smile that tugs on corners of Bastiana' lips. He closes his eyes minutely, and when he opens them again, there is only resignation. Because of lack of his trust, or maybe since Harvey is too close to truth? He has lost his ability to read people's emotions at some point, or rather never really had it in a first place.
Bastiana does look back at that and sends him a much more real smile.
''I know''Bastiana says, rough but steady, and she rubs her thumbs over Harvey's cheekbones.
''And I am really sorry about last night with the phone call and the blackmailing with the dead girl.''he admits, and the last bit Harvey hadn't even realized he'd been holding onto falls away, and he's here, all of him here in front of Bastiana, and if that first day in the field had felt like a judgment day, it has nothing on the way this feels.
"I forgive you,"
She dumped her malt on his head and venomously said, "But not for my brother"
Harvey roughly grabbed her arm outside of the student union, making several heads turn. She turned around and he said, "Bastiana please, we can try to make this work. I just want to apologize for.."
Bastiana pulled her arm from his grasp and screamed,"I fucking worned you to stay away but.."
She turned around to leave, when he forced her into a painful kiss.
However unknown to them, someone was hiding waiting for something like this to happen.
Lola rolled her eyes and let out a loud huff, annoyed. As a professor, she did her best to avoid being biased towards her students, but it was hard when a handful of them were trying very hard to set her teeth on edge with their inane rambling in their essays.
Honestly, how stupid did they think she was? She could most definitely tell when a student went on a whole tangent just so they could meet the required word count. Lola was far from a tyrant, but it did make her want to grab a red pen and cross a big X right over the unnecessary story-telling.
Instead, she underlined the insane couple sentences and drew a small question mark by the edge of the page. And reduced the student's score, of course. She wasn't a tyrant, but he wasn't a cuddly teddy bear, either.
Well, at least not to her students. Her fiance, on the other hand, would definitely beg to differ. Lola smiled at the thought of Spencer, setting the paper aside for a moment. Today Reid had a lecture at Columbia University and Lola could not be more proud. reid had been so uncertain when he was offered , he'd looked so stressed trying to make the decision, but Lola knew he was ready.
The phone on Lola's desk rang out, startling woman's attention. She looked at her phone , reading the text message:"Open the TV. This shit is more code red than The Battle of Hogwarts."
eyes when wide as he grabbed the remote to the TV in her office and turned it on, the first thing that showed was a story about Harvey and his sister in law's relationship.
"Rivals To Lovers"the anchor introduces, "Harvey Specter and Bastiana Wolf known for them often as rivals at the courthouse ,we caught them in a passionate kiss at the office."
Lola changes the channel, not needing to hear anymore, but she's smiling as she does so. After Bastiana first trial against him , Lola saw how much Bastiana had affected by him and had to sks around about him. She found out that Harvey Specter was a smug arrogant bastard and his brilliant mind and sense of humor was both charming and challenging. His wit kept Bastiana on her toes and his love and knowledge of law had made him a good suitor for Bastiana.
Lola knew Bastiana had met her match.
Lola was happy that Bastiana could find someone to worth of her time but the so-soon bride was worried about her fiance and his brothers. The brothers wanted Bastiana to have love and stability in her life but their shelfies sides of them wanted to be the one Bastiana could count on for that they just not allow Bastiana to be away from them.
About twenty minutes later - which Lola certainly spent rewatching that piece of news over and over -, she heard the front door lock click open, and quickly turned off the TV. She picked up the essay she had put aside, and went back to reading it. Or at least, pretending to.
"Honey, I'm home," Reid called out in a sing-y voice, kicking the door closed behind himself. He smiled when he caught sight of Lola on the couch. "There you are."
"Here I am," Lola smiled back, tilting her head back and pursing her lips in a needy request of a kiss.
Reid leaned down and pecked her sweetly. "Working hard?"
"Always," she said smugly, grabbing Reid by the lapels and pulling her to the couch. Reid fell with a huff half on top of her, then laughed. "I missed you."
She kissed him again, deeper this time, because she looked too good not to.
"You really did miss me, uh?," Reid teased lightly as he traced Lola's jawline with soft kisses, smiling against Lola's skin. "I missed you, too."
With animalistic passion, he covered her lips with his, forcefully parting hers with his tongue. She moaned loudly and pressed her body against his. Overcome with desire, Reid's hands reached towards the string that held her small bra tied. But as soon as she felt his hand on her back, she pulled away. Confused, Reid stared at her.
"I'm tired Spencer." She said.
"What?" Shock was written all over his face.
"What do you mean?" She sighed and got out of his lap to sit beside him.
"I'm tired." She said in a frustrated tone. "I'm tired of all this. I want something more."
"More?" He raised an eyebrow. "Anzu, you are the most popular and successful professor in the world. You are young, beautiful, and going to be married to the wealthiest, intelligent, successful, and powerful, not to mention the most handsome man in the whole world. What more could you want?" She smiled at his words.
"I want… a child." Her words nearly caused him to fall into the pool.
"WHAT?" Where had that come from?
"A child." She said, annoyed at his reaction. "As in a baby."
"… Why?" He finally found his voice after a considerable pause.
"What kind of question is that?" She countered with a question of her own. His response was a confused stare so she continued. "Spencer, you're right. I do have everything, more than I had dreamed of. I am the luckiest woman on this planet because I have caring friends or family, a loving, not to mention 'the most handsome man in the whole world' as my fiance." He smirked at her words. "But…" Yes, the dreaded 'but'. How he hated 'but'.
"But what?" He asked kindly, caressing her cheek.
"But I still feel that there is something missing. I feel empty and incomplete." She rested her head on his shoulder and sighed. "I don't want to feel that way."
"So you think a child will fill up the emptiness inside you… and complete you?" He said in an emotionless tone.
"Yes." She said excitedly, raising her head and staring at him with twinkling eyes. "And it'll be perfect for us too."
"Us?" He said in discomfort. She frowned.
"I think there's something you didn't tell me." His hands seemed to glide around her, his arms sweep around her in a comfortable embrace.
Lola froze again. His hands rested on her expanding stomach. Her heart rate was skyrocketing.
"I think," he voice rumbled against the outer portion of her ear, "you have something to tell me. Don't you?"
"I think you may have deduced that by now," she whispered as his length of his hand extended on her stomach.
Spencer's irises enlarged when he realized Lola's mid-drift was heavy with child, his hand lingered there as jumbled thoughts ran through his head:
Lola is pregnant. I'm the father. No, I can't be. Can I? Of course I could be, if I remembered. Those fantasies must have been real. Lola is pregnant with my baby!
"You are going to be a father." For a few moments, Reid just stood in shock, not knowing how to react. Finally, his brain recovered and he crushed her small body in a hug, his face buried in her neck.
"Thank God." He whispered, his own eyes filling with moisture. "Thank you so much."
"We're going to be parents. We are going to have a baby." Lola cried against his chest and he fiercely nodded his head.
"Yes. Yes we are." He whispered.
"I'm so happy Spencer. I'm so happy." Spencer pushed her body away from his to stare at her. His hand gently wiped her tears and he placed his forehead against her.
"I'm happy too Lola." He placed his lips upon her in a gentle and sweet kiss. "Thank you." She smiled broadly and kissed him again before placing her head on his chest again. They stayed like that for a while; trying to make sure the moment was real. Finally, Reid spoke.
"Get dressed. We are going out to celebrate." She shook her head.
"We can't. You have to go to your work." He growled at the mention of his work..
"I don't care. This is a special moment and I want to celebrate. You just get ready. I'll deal with her." Reid said and walked out.
"Come on, just for a couple hours."
Hotch rolled his eyes as he shoved another bite of food in his mouth.
"You need to get out Aaron."
"No."
Rossi sighed as he stuffed his chopsticks in the take out container. "You need to get laid, it's been awhile."
"How the hell do you know?"
"Believe me I know." Rossi snickered. "You're crabbier than usual."
Finishing off his meal, Rossi tossed his chopsticks in the container and sat it on the desk.
"Come on, we'll go to that bar you like over on Yuma street. We don't have a case and eveyryone want to shot themselves because of the boredoom"
Aaron took a long swig from his water. "I am a unit chief I can just leave the office ."
"Excuses"
"There's the new place over on-"
"No."
"If you're not gonna go after what you really want you might as well go out and get laid."
Narrowing his eyes, Aaron leaned forward and glared at Rossi. "Don't start."
"Well are you planning on staying celibate to maintain some kind of loyalty?" Rossi ignored the glare. "Loyalty to someone you can't admit to having feelings for." When Hotch didn't respond, Rossi shook his head. "And I thought I was fucked up for getting back together with my ex-wife."
"That is a little fucked up."
"And sitting here pining away for someone that you haven't even taken a chance with is less fucked up?" Rossi chuckled. "I don't think so."
"I'm not pining." Hotch snapped.
"Then prove it." Rossi squared his shoulders. "Let's go out, at least start looking."
Hotch took another long swig of his coffee.
"I don't get it Aaron." Rossi dropped back in his chair and shook his head again. "You know you could have him if you just opened your damn mouth."
"No, I don't know that."
Rossi laughed.
"What?" Hotch scowled at his friend.
"You have to see the way she looks at you, the coy little comments." Rossi smirked. "She practically melts when you got in her personnel space during the ball.''
Hotch rolled his eyes. "You have an overactive imagination Dave."
"Fine." Rossi shrugged his shoulders. "Spend the rest of your life unhappy, celibate and afraid to even try. I don't care." He snickered. "I'm use to you being an unhappy bastard."
"I'm not unhappy."
"Well you sure in hell aren't happy." Rossi leaned forward. "And when you give your right hand a name because that's all the action you're getting it's going to be a quick sad downward spiral from there. Next thing you know you're drawing a face on your hand and asking it if it wants dinner first."
Hotch's eyebrows went up. "Speaking from experience?"
"I was close." Rossi shook his head. "Not a fun place to be."
Before Hotch could say something Garcia storms in the office saying.''Guys come with me now.''
Hotch and Rossi exchanged a glance. They were looking at each other in that way they sometimes did, and it annoyed Garcia a little. She was sure that somehow they were communicating silently… without even using hand signals. Morgab always said they were telepathically connected… it had seemed silly at first, but the more time Garcia spent with the two of them together, the less sure she was.
The both men walked into the bullen and LMZ playing quietly and garishly, just in time for the host to transition to a new piece.
"Now, we've had our fair share of run-ins with Manhattan law in the past, even some recently, very recently, but oh boy, you guys will not believe what we've found out about our lawyers."
Morgan scoffs. "Great, more gossip about rich people's lives. Does the man ever stop?"
"That'd be a no, Morgan." Prentiss says through a grin. "I'm pretty sure he feeds off of lies and spreading chaos."
"Now," says the host, who's beard is terrible and makes Prentiss wonder why the hell he has a job, let alone a job that requires people to see his face. "we have an inside source," which is met by groans and laughter in equal measure, "that tells us that within the two lawyers," there are too many dramatic pauses in this guy's speech. Prentiss didn't think he could get more annoying. Morgan comes around with coffee, seemingly giving up on fighting over watching the damn show before he started. Fighting over what they watch is half the fun for Emily, but she is curious as to what he thinks he has on them. As far as she knows, they've been smooth sailing for a while, after they pulled their shit together and stopped going AWOL and following the law a bit more than they had done. "there's a conflict of interest."
"God, I hope it's me hooking up with some model, that'd be great for my rep," she mutters it into her drink, but Rossi hears and scoffs while rolling his eyes, something bordering on fond playing on his lips. They're growing on each other, that's for sure.
On screen, there's a picture of the court house, it's standard, Harvey and Bastiana in an office and by their angry faces were in the middle of a fight, and Garcia isn't sure what the conflict of interest is. She's sure she's about to find out. "Seen here are Harvey Specter and Bastiana Wolf," Garcia feels Hotch freeze. "as you can see, being a bit less friendly than one would expect of two lawyers of differents law firms."
The host, endlessly annoying and far too enthusiastic about outing public servants than one should ever be, continues, "Our source says that they've been involved for months, flirting on the job long before that. And that Bastiana Wolf has lessened her cut-throat antics as of late. Going soft forlove, maybe?" The notion that Bastiana would go soft on a trial is ridiculous, but not the point at the moment.
''And of course we have proof that they are together''he pauses for effect and she knows, knows, what's coming and it's almost too painful to bear, at the one side of the tv was a video of Harvey and Bastiana kissing in an office.''The best closer in the city's Romance with Snowwoman''
Hotch was about to turn it off until he saw Harvey forcefully grab her. The abusive gesture, caused Hotch to stop short and looked closer. He listened to the argument between the two and realized that Harvey harassing her. Every second of their conversation Hotch grew redder with anger. When he saw Specter kiss her, his mind had blown. He knew Bastiana was a capable woman and lawyer but Hotch could not help being protective. He also knew deep down he had to fight the creeping feelings of possessiveness that wanted to rear its ugly head.
Rossi doesn't want to hear anymore and goes to switch channels, to make a joke but instead he looks at Hotch. The unit chief is staring at the tv las though he can will the story out of existence, like it's a nasty piece of contradictory evidence the defence has pulled that he has to puzzle his way around.
"You're kidding me Dave?" Hotch was stunned.
To someone who didn't know Hotch he was still the stoic unit chief but David Rossi knew better. He knew Aaron for so long that he didn't need profiling to read his friend like an open book. And what he saw wasn't pretty. It was a mix of anger, jealousy and protectiveness.
Neal and Alex come downstairs dressed so inappropriately for a swamp. Neal in his usual suit getup, but no jacket meaning he was going casual, Alex with her form-fitting black tank top, dark teal leather jacket, black skinny jeans, and tall black heels.
Dana looks down at her loose tan sweater that hung off her left shoulder, legging style dark wash jeans, and black combat boots. She looked like a ragged single pregnant woman while they looked immaculate and perfect.
"OH MY GOD YOU Alex!"Dana cried as she ran for Alex. Neal was right beside her instantly.
"Dana baby be careful, don't run," he warned, his tone nervous. The lawyer didn't listen though and attacked Alex with a hug. Alex began to bounce up and down holding her hands.
"What are you doing here?"she asked, her eyes watering up with happy tears. This kind of over emotional they liked.
Neal sighed. "Come on Scott, stop crying before Alex and Michael hit me for it. You spent enough time crying yesterday, now it's time to be happy! "
Alex turned to Sonny . "Alright mate, fork it over. You owe me ten dollars. I always told you he did it because she looked hot when she's pissed."
Sonny shook his head. "Actually, you owe me ten dollars. Remember I bet you twenty that he totally had it bad for Dana? I told you all that fighting was nothing but mounting sexual tension just waiting to explode. Seriously! I even heard this girl once telling her friend that she took a roll in the hay with Neal...and he paid her off not to tell anyone that he yelled "Granger" at the end. Guess she couldn't keep it to herself..."
Dana looked at Neal, tears suddenly gone. "Wow. I feel kind of bad for her. Who was it?"
Neal shrugged. "Fuck if I know. I just kept going through bushy haired brunettes to try and get you out of my system. I think I spent eighty percent of my weekly stipend just paying women off about yelling your name... Anyway, we're married now and you're still in my system...don't think you're ever getting out if you haven't by now. And that's just the way I want it."
Out of blue Micahel Dodds walked into the condo and Dana's eyes light up at the sight of the food.
"Well, Michael, that's the best thing you did in a long time, man", Dana said, in foreseen satisfaction over the bags filled with Thai take-out that Micahel had brought just for her.
"No", Dodds said affirmatively. "That would be him." He pointed at Carisi who was unpacking the food. Carisi's face burned red
Alex and Neal looked at Dodds, then each other, and burst out laughing.
Neal's phone started ringing just as he saw who had tried to call him and Dana's head came up when she heard Neal's phone ring.
"Caffrey," Neal said, then he smiled. "Hey Peter."
"Open the Tv." Peter suddenly announced.
"What?" Neal paused and looked up at Dana.
"I said open the TV Neal, ," Peter repeated.
Neal picks up the remote and changes to channel 52 to Sonny stood next to him. Dodds lets out a gasp of surprise and Neal drops the phone a soft no falling from his the screen a tear streaked news anchor is showing their sisters lips locked with Harvey Specter while across the screen, each blink a hammer to Neal's heart.
