A/N: I am going to be 100% honest with you all and tell you that this chapter was so damn different then what I was about to post. I read it and didn't like it, so, I scrapped the whole thing and rewrote this. I love it so much more and no that is not my excuse for taking this long to update. Honestly, life just happened and yeah. Enough about me. Here's the latest chapter. Also, don't feel bad about going back to re-jog your memory of the story. Enjoy! :D
"Tell me again why I didn't schedule to stay in Barcelona for a few days?" James asked Kelly and she rolled her eyes at him.
"Because you don't listen to me and you kept complaining about how home sick you would be by now." Kelly grumbled as we boarded the private jet.
"Oh joy, you two made it on time." Mrs. Diamond said, glancing up from her iPad. At this point, I was so used to her snide comments that it didn't even phase me.
"I cannot wait until we get to New York though. It'll be nice to see my family." Kelly said, sitting down.
"I'm sure they're missing you." James told her as we both sat down opposite each other.
"Not as much as your grandma is missing you." Kelly said and James clutched his chest.
"My gammy."
"Gammy?" I asked and James blushed.
"My grandma. She's been my number one fan since I was born."
"Aww."
"What about you Kendall?" Kelly asked me.
"Well, most of my family is in Minnesota but my two best friends are at NYU. I'll probably go visit them. I know they won't be expecting it."
"You think James can arrive in New York and people not know?" Mrs. Diamond asked and I had to admit she was right.
"Well, then that will be the first thing on the list." James said with a smile and I couldn't help but smile myself. I didn't know whether or not he was going to accompany me but knowing that he is makes me that much more excited. Then, I realized that I had to make a plan.
When the plane landed, I realized that Mrs. Diamond was right. Luckily, we planned for the large crowd and James was led pass most of the chaos in the airport with a huge amount of security. Apparently, fans tracked when he would be arriving somehow and then found out where he was going to arrive. It was a bit creepy but I've come to appreciate their dedication. They're like little spies that just love James.
We made it to the black truck that was waiting for us and James said goodbye to his mother before she climbed into a black truck of her own. From the paparazzi to the fans the amount of people asking if James was okay was a little absurd to the point where he couldn't even respond. Kelly climbed in the truck with me and James and we were heading into the heart of New York City. Kelly informed us that since she had a better chance to blend in than we did, she wanted to make her exit from us in a crowded area. Luckily, the New York fans weren't crazy enough to chase after the truck. A few of them tried to keep up on the sidewalk but there wasn't much room for them and we eventually lost them.
"So, where exactly are we headed to?" James asked me and the driver looked at me as well.
"My friends go to NYU, so if you can head in that direction, that would be great." The driver nodded at my words and James smiled at me.
"NYU? They must be pretty smart."
"Yeah, Logan wanted to get away from Minnesota and when he got accepted into NYU, he pretty much exploded with happiness."
"What about…um…wait, don't tell me." James said, holding up a finger and I smiled. "Dang it, you told me their names before and I swear I remember. Logan and…Carlos!" He said and I nodded. "I told you I knew it."
"I didn't doubt you. Carlos was determined to follow Logan anywhere, so, he studied more than I've ever seen him do. He was consistently making straight A's in order to raise his GPA and he was even more excited than Logan when he got in. He screamed so loud and for so long that he lost his voice. Then he cried but he'll deny that part if you ask him about it. I remember when Logan got in and Carlos hadn't received his letter, he was so devastated that he would cry every time someone said college." I said, shaking my head at the memories as I pulled my phone out.
"Aww. I'm glad he got in." James commented.
"Me too, he totally deserves it." I said as I brought up Logan's name.
"Hey, a few questions, what dorm do you stay in? Where are you? And where is Carlos?" I texted. A few seconds later my phone buzzed and I smiled down at the answer.
"Weinstein Hall. I am in the lounge of said dorm and he's in the library trying to find a book for his paper. Why?" Logan replied.
"Can you take us to Weinstein Hall?" I asked the driver before I replied to Logan.
"I have a surprise for you two." I texted back with a winking emoji.
"Why are you smiling so sinisterly at your phone?" James asked me and I smiled harder before handing him the phone.
"What? Kendall, stop playing around." James read out loud as a text came through before handing the phone back to me.
The driver pulled up to the building and I couldn't keep the smile off of my face as I climbed out. James pulled shades out of nowhere and put them on before stepping out of the truck. James told him that he would call him if he needed him and it honestly sounded like the most Hollywood thing he has ever said. I shook my head at him as we stepped up onto the sidewalk and it took me a few seconds to realize that he definitely had on my shades. A student who lived there was walking in and we quickly followed her inside. My phone started ringing and I quickly answered it.
"Hello?"
"Kendall, what's going on?" Logan asked me and I got so excited just by hearing his voice, knowing I'm going to surprise him.
"What lounge are you in?"
"Second floor in the east tower. Kendall, I swear to god, if you-" I hung up on him just to keep him on edge as I headed to the east tower. We got to the elevator and just as we pressed the second floor button someone was coming. I held the elevator door for the girl as she stepped on.
"Thank you." She said as she adjusted her hair.
"You're welcome. What floor?" I asked her.
"6th floor please." She said as she looked down at her phone. I looked at her before looking at James and she seemed to be completely oblivious to the fact that James was standing opposite to her. It was either she was oblivious or she didn't care. I decided not to draw attention to it and when the elevator dinged, we both walked off as quickly as possible. It took us a second but we found the lounge as my phone continued to ring from Logan calling me.
"Wait here." I told James and he nodded as I walked in.
"If he doesn't answer this phone, I'll-"
"You'll what?" I asked him and he looked up at me. The deep inhale that came after realization set in made me laugh. He jumped up and ran over to me, wrapping his arms around me.
"Oh my god. What are you doing here?"
"I'm here to visit you and Carlos."
"Did you get fired?" He asked me as our hug broke.
"What? No." I said, shaking my head.
"Then how are you here?" He asked, folding his arms. I looked around to see that the lounge was empty before I went back over to the door and gestured for James to come in.
"No fucking way." Logan said, staring at James. "Carlos is going to lose his freaking mind." He said, turning to me.
"I hope so." I said, smiling.
"Hey, nice to finally meet you." James said, extending his hand out to Logan.
"Pft, me? Nice to meet you. Oh my god, this is like a dream." Logan said, shaking his hand.
"Did you tell Carlos I texted you?"
"Huh? No, I didn't get a chance to because you were freaking me out."
"Good, I want to surprise him." I said, thinking about another plan.
"I can text him and act like I'm trying to meet up with him." Logan responded, practically reading my mind like old times.
"That's perfect."
"Uh, not to mess up the plan but me heading into a public library isn't exactly the best idea." James commented and I knew he was right. There's no way that he wouldn't be swarmed with fans at this time of day.
"Alright, then you can stay here with Logan while I go surprise him and then bring him back to their room and he can meet you." I told him after I took a moment to think of the plan.
"That could work." Logan added as he started texting.
"Should we go to the room then?" James asked.
"Yeah sure." Logan said as he packed up his things. We followed him to the elevators and he pressed the button for their floor. "I still cannot believe this." Logan said as he looked at me and James.
We exited the elevator as someone was rushing to get on. They pushed passed us without a word and into the elevator. I would be mad but I knew that they were probably having a way shittier day than I am, so, I let it go. When we got into their room, I was honestly not surprised at the layout. They both had contrasting colors that was a theme within the room but you could see where they mixed it. Carlos had light blue and black while Logan had blue and green. I identified them almost immediately because Carlos had a bunch of posters all over his side of the room while Logan had a purple tapestry above his bed.
"If I had known you were going to show up, I would've cleaned up the room a little more." Logan said as he picked up a shirt off of the floor.
"Logan, the room is practically spotless besides that one shirt." I told him and he shook his head.
"No, Carlos' bed isn't made up." He rebutted and I shook my head.
"Don't clean up for me."
"I wasn't." He said, gesturing to James who was staring at the posters Carlos had on his wall.
"This is pretty cool." James said, turning to us.
"Carlos would just die if he heard you say that." Logan said, smiling.
"Well, text him and ask him where he is." I told him.
"Right." He said as he grabbed his phone and started texting. "Do you guys want anything to drink? I think Carlos has a few snacks around here somewhere."
"No, I'm good." James said as he continued to look at the collage of posters on the wall. "I wonder how long it took him to do all of this."
"I think it took him a day or so but he would be the one to know." Logan told him and I shook my head. Carlos has always been the creative one out of all of us, especially when it comes to posters.
"He once helped me with a poster collage I had in my room." I added.
"Alright, he's still in the library. He's pretty upset that he can't find his book. I bet you he didn't ask for help." Logan said, looking up from his phone.
"So, where would he be?"
"He's doing a paper on music history or something like that but I'll ask him for details."
"I should head that way now then."
"It's literally down the street, you can't miss it." Logan informed me and I nodded.
"I'll be back." I said to both him and James before I made my way out of the room.
When I stepped into the library, I almost couldn't hold in my gasp. This was no ordinary library, especially any library that I've seen. "Welcome to Elmer Holmes Bobst Library." A woman said to me and it took me a moment to reply back because I was still looking around.
"Thank you." I said before I looked down at my phone.
"He's on the 7th floor. When you get off the elevator, make a right." Logan texted me.
I headed to the elevators and took one to the 7th floor, following his instructions. This place was huge and it made college seem much more intimidating, especially if I had to find a book here. I headed to the right once the elevator doors opened and began to look for Carlos. I moved cautiously from isle to isle before I heard his voice.
"There's no way the book is here." I smirked and moved a row over from where I heard him. I could see him scanning the books as he walked. He reached up and tilted a book, reading the spine of it.
"Nope." He said, pushing it back in. He walked to the end of the books in that row and sighed. I ran up behind him before he could step into the next isle and covered his mouth, backing us into the aisle that he was just in.
"Who's your best friend in the whole world?" I whispered in his ear as I moved my hand from his mouth to cover his eyes.
"Logan-"
"Best friend, not boyfriend." I corrected and he gasped, pushing out of my grip.
"KENDALL!" He screamed as he turned around. I wasn't prepared for him to jump on me, wrapping his arms and legs around me. "I've missed you so much!" He said, gripping me with all his life.
"I've missed you too buddy." I said back as I struggled to breathe. He let me go and landed on his feet before fixing his shirt.
"How in the world are you here?" He asked me.
"Plane and then car. Logan is back at the room. I surprised him first and it was hilarious."
"I know how to get here. I meant, isn't the tour still going on."
"Nope, tour is over and everyone is back home. I decided to come visit you two since it's been ages since we've hung out." I told him and he just smiled before hugging me again.
"Let's get out of this library then. I'll find my book later or something." He said, pulling me to the elevators.
"Logan texted me and said that you would abandon your quest to find this book the second you saw me." I told him and he nodded.
"I didn't really want to look for it in the first place. I might just find an e-book online or something for the sources." He said as we rode the elevator down to the main lobby.
"So how has it been going?" I asked him and he sighed.
"It's been pretty tough to be honest with you. My classes are fine but I don't know if Logan told you, but, I don't think I want to be a hockey player anymore." I was surprised by his words but I could see how upset he was about it.
"What happened?"
"I mean, I killed the try out for the team and I just felt like there's more to life than that. I also couldn't do that and spend time with Logan. I know you told me that I need to be my own person and I am but…" He paused for a moment as we left the library and stepped out onto the New York streets. "We were fighting a lot because of our conflicting schedules. I mean, I would only see him at night when we were going to bed. It was fun to catch up but then I started to miss him. We went from seeing each other all the time to only at night time. There was one time when his class got canceled that we saw each other around lunch time. I was so happy but then everything went back to the same old stuff."
"What changed?" I asked him as we crossed the street.
"I dropped the training and decided that I wanted to change my major. The classes I'm taking now are general classes that don't mean anything major-wise, so, I am still on track to graduate on time. I also dropped a class that I will take online next semester."
"I'm glad that you've made some sacrifices for the sake of your relationship." I told him and he smiled.
"Logan dropped a class too." He mentioned and I gasped.
"I know. I was freaking out too when he told me but he said that I shouldn't be the only one making sacrifices."
"So things are going good now?" I asked him as we reached the building. I made sure that I texted Logan that we were outside just in case.
"Oh, definitely. We eat lunch almost all of the time together and our sex has been amazing." He told me just as some girl was walking passed us.
"Carlos, oh my god." I said in slight shock and he laughed as he pushed the elevator button. "That's great to hear, I guess."
"Yeah, Logan probably won't want to talk about it but I know he's happy. He's much more affectionate in public here than he was back in high school." He told me as we stepped onto the elevator. It made me think about one day me and James being affectionate in public. Thinking about James made a smirk appear on my face and he got a confused look since there was a moment of silence between us after he spoke.
"Enough about me. What's going on with you Mr. Bodyguard? How is it working for James Diamond?" He asked me and I smiled at him.
"It's honestly such a dream."
"I remember when you first discovered him and you asked me if I knew about him like he was some indie artist."
"Look, I didn't realize his level of fame until I heard Katie listening to him. So, to see the amount of fans he has is really mind-blowing."
"Was that you that jumped on stage when he fell?" He asked me as we reached their floor.
"Yeah, you saw that?"
"Of course and even if I didn't, I would see it multiple times on my twitter. It was even on TMZ but they cut it off when he hit the ground." Carlos said as he unlocked their door. "Logan, I'm home."
"You don't have to say that every time you come in the room. I know it's you." Logan said, getting up from his bed and giving Carlos a hug. I mouthed to Logan asking where James was and he pointed to the bathroom. They separated and Carlos walked over to his bed and jumped up on it as he kicked off his shoes. Logan looked at me and I nudged him to his bed.
"So, Kendall, how is it?" Carlos asked.
"How is what?"
"How is it working for him? James. Is he nice?"
"Yeah, he's pretty awesome. Touring is pretty crazy but it's fun at the same time. I mean, the few shows that I was a part of."
"How does it work exactly? I mean, you're here and you're supposed to work for him. Is it like he calls you when he needs you or what?" Carlos asked and I gave him a confused look.
"What do you mean?"
"You're not guarding his body as his bodyguard so like…"
"Who said I wasn't guarding his body?" I asked him and he gave me a confused look. I waited for a moment and it was like I was watching his brain work. His jaw slowly slacked and his eyes widened before he looked between me and Logan.
"Where is he?" He asked jumping up.
"What was the first question I asked you earlier?" I asked him and he started breathing faster and faster.
"Kendall, don't play with me."
"What was the question?" I repeated as he got a panicked look on his face.
"Um, um, um, who's your best friend in the whole world?" He said really fast.
"Kendall, he's going to have a heart attack." Logan commented.
"What's the answer?" I asked him.
"You! Kendall, oh my god, stop playing. Stop right now. This isn't funny." He said as he started grabbing random parts of his body while Logan shook his head at us.
"James." I said and as soon as James stepped foot in the room, there was the loud shriek and it felt like I was back at one of his concerts. I looked from James to Carlos to see that Logan was standing behind him just in case he passed out.
"Kendall, stop. Kendall, stop. James…no. There's no way. Kendall, oh my god. Oh my god, I-Hi, hello. James Diamond in my room." Carlos stuttered before holding out a hand. When James pushed Carlos' hand out of the way and gave him a hug, Carlos just about screeched again.
"It's nice to finally meet you." James said and Carlos gasped again.
"Me? The pleasure is all mine." Carlos said as they separated.
"I was telling Logan that I like your poster collage."
"Oh god, you're going to kill him." Logan said, shaking his head as Carlos clutched his chest.
"Thank you. Thank you so much. I had a poster of you but Logan made me take it down."
"It was ripped."
"You ripped it." Carlos said and Logan instantly blushed.
"It was an accident." He mumbled.
"Yeah, he ripped it while we were having sex." Carlos told James.
"Carlos!"
"Oh my god." I said in shock while James tried to hide his laughter.
"I-uh, didn't mean to-uh, tell you that." Carlos stuttered.
"Don't worry, it's in his nature to blurt out random things. He's been doing it since middle school." I informed James.
"I have not! Don't tell him that." Carlos said, nudging me.
"Don't sweat it, dude. I had a friend that did that all the time." James told Carlos and he looked so happy.
"I just cannot believe that you're standing here in front of me. This feels like a dream." Carlos said, smiling before turning to Logan.
"I said the same thing."
"Do you always go through this?" I asked James and he started laughing.
"I mean, I'm used to it. I'll get you a new poster if you want." James said, directing the last part to Carlos.
"That would be so awesome."
"Just don't sign it. Carlos has a few friends that are a little-"
"They're just really passionate." Carlos said to Logan in defense of these mystery friends of his.
"Oh, speaking of which. I need to tell them tha-"
"NO!" Me and James yelled at the same time. Carlos leaned back and held his phone to his chest.
"Okay, well, I won't tell them." He said, tossing his phone onto his bed.
"Sorry, we just have had some troubling times with fans so we don't need them to know that we're here." I explained to him.
"Yeah, you guys were on E! News and everything with the video James posted on Instagram. I was actually scared for you guys." Logan said and James shook his head.
"It was the scariest thing I've ever seen. I love my fans but it felt like I was in The Walking Dead."
"You watch The Walking Dead?" Carlos asked James as he sat back on his bed.
"Well, I'm not caught up but I was watching it on Netflix towards the start of the tour. I couldn't finish it though, so, I'm way behind." James answered as I got him a chair to sit down. I grabbed Logan's desk chair for myself while James had Carlos' and for a while the two of them just talked back and forth about different Tv shows. I was actually happy that James was able to keep up with Carlos because everyone knows that he can go on and on.
The best thing was that James seemed genuinely into the conversation. Logan and I continued to sit there and chime in here and there about a few things but for the most part, Logan just smiled at Carlos' enthusiasm while I did the same with James. Everything was going great until there was a knock at the door. For the first time since we got here, the room grew silent. Logan got up and went to the door while James just looked at me.
"Who is it?" Logan asked and there was a silence.
"Logan, open the door." One girl said and Logan turned to me and James.
"Shit." Carlos mumbled.
"The bathroom." Logan mumbled and James got up and walked into the bathroom. I was still sitting there and Carlos pushed me towards the bathroom too.
"She knows who you are too."
"But-"
"Shh." He said as he pushed me into the bathroom with James. The door was closed behind me and a second later, I felt James bump into me.
"So, what have you guys been up to?" The girl asked as she walked into the room.
"Uh, nothing." Logan said as I reached for my phone. I pulled it out and shined the light up to finally be able to see James. The second I did, he was yawning which in turn made me yawn. He smiled before Carlos said something that made the girl gasp.
"That's kinda gross." She said and I didn't know what she was referring to before there was more movement.
"Hey Carlos, where did you get these from?" The girl said.
"Uh, put those down."
"These are some expensive looking shades. Let me find out you have sugar daddy or something."
"No, Logan bought them for me." Carlos said before James shook his head and pointed to himself. That's when I realized she was talking about James' shades, well, my shades, which he must've left on the table.
"Aww, Logan. That's so sweet. You guys are complete goals." The girls said before there was more movement.
"Um, where are you going?" Logan asked her.
"To the bathroom." She said and James' eyes widened at that.
"Uh, no, you can't." Carlos said quickly as I gestured to the shower. We both stepped into the small space and James closed the curtain as Carlos went back and forth with the girl about why she couldn't use it. I sat down on the floor of the shower and James sat in-between my legs with his back to me. When the bathroom door opened, I closed out my phone and pulled James to my chest.
"See, the bathroom seems perfectly fine." She said and Carlos sighed.
"Just hurry up."
"Why are you so antsy? I'm the one who has to pee."
"I already told you why."
"Once again, still gross. Why can't you two have sex late at night like normal people?" She said before closing the door. I'm guessing that's what he told her to try to get her to go away but it didn't work. Whoever this girl is, she's very intrusive so she had to be Carlos' friend. There's no way Logan would be friends with her. I tried to keep my breathing to a minimum as the girl used the bathroom but I felt like it wasn't working. That's when I realized it was James who was starting to breathe heavily. I quickly covered his mouth with one hand and used the other to hold him close to me.
"Relax." I whispered to him as I felt him take a deep breath. By the time the girl was washing her hands, I was uncomfortable in the small shower space.
"Alright, you two are being weird so I'll catch you later. Next time, text me when you two are busy having sex. That way we can avoid this." She said before the door opened.
"Alright Bridgette, sorry about…yeah." Carlos said before the door closed. I gasped and threw myself out of the shower, trying to breathe in as much air as possible. Carlos was standing in the doorway as James threw himself halfway on top of me.
"Next time, don't open the door." I told him and he nodded before coming over to help us. He of course helped James up more than me.
"I am so sorry to have put you through this." Carlos said. I thought he was talking to both of us but he was clearly talking to James.
"Trust me, this isn't my first time hiding from fans. I just felt a little uncomfortable with her using the bathroom."
"Yeah, let's not talk about that." I said walking back into their room.
"To be fair, she did kind of barge in." Logan commented. He was back sitting on his bed and I was about to sit at Carlos' desk when I knocked over one of his books.
"Logic Pro X Advanced Audio Production." I read out loud as I placed it back on the desk.
"Oh, cool, you're into music?" James asked and Carlos turned so red, I almost died from laughing.
"I-I, uh, yeah. I changed my major to music."
"That's pretty cool. Have you been to a recording studio before?" James asked him.
"No." Carlos said and the way his voice squeaked made me shake my head at him.
"Would you like to go sometime?"
"Hell yeah!" Carlos screamed and James smiled.
"Sounds good. I can call up a few of my guys here and see if we can get you some hands on experience."
"Thank you so much. You have no idea how much this means to me." The smile on Carlos' face was so bright, I was sure his face was going to break.
"He's going to hug you now." I warned James right before Carlos wrapped his arms around him.
"I'm sorry if this is too much but I can't help myself."
"It's cool." James said, laughing as he returned the hug.
"Why didn't you tell me you changed your major to music?" I asked him as he gave James his space.
"Do you know how that would sound?" Carlos responded as he climbed on his bed. "I would sound like I'm only interested in you in order to further my career."
"That sounds like most of L.A." James commented.
"That's terrible." Logan chimed in.
"Yeah but you get used to it after a while. God forbid someone finds out a secret of yours. They'll blackmail you before you even realize it." James said as he slouched into Logan's chair. I felt like he was going down the path of revealing too much but I knew that everything was pretty much up to him. If he wanted to tell Carlos and Logan about us, I would be perfectly fine with the decision. I think Carlos would lose his mind and probably not believe him.
"That's crazy how people can be so cruel." Carlos commented.
"They don't start out that way but they get treated like that and decide to keep the negativity going. I've been very selective about who I work with now because of that. So, the last thing I want to do is be seen as cruel or anything of that nature."
"I don't think people could ever see you like that." Carlos replied and James smiled at that.
"They said the same thing about Bieber."
"But the difference between you and Bieber is that you care about your fans." I told him.
"Hey, that's not fair to say. He cares about his fans but from our perspective, it's hard to tell who is there because they're a fan of yours or they want to make money off of you."
"That is true." I responded, remembering those fans that surrounded the car. There was no way to tell who was a fan and who wasn't.
"Oh, speaking of fans, Kendall, do you know that you have a bit of a following?" Logan said and I shook my head.
"I do but they're only following because I know James." I replied.
"Hey, followers are followers." Carlos said with a shrug. "I'd kill to have as many followers as you."
"How many is that?" James asked him.
"Kendall just reached ten million. Common curtesy would be to tweet something about it." Carlos said as he grabbed his phone.
"Why are you tracking my followers?"
"I track everyone's followers and yup, 10.1 million." He said, still looking down at his phone.
"You didn't know?" Logan asked me and I shook my head.
"I mean, I had a feeling but I don't check twitter that much since I turned off notifications." I said as I took out my phone. I really had 10.1 million followers for absolutely no reason. I started scrolling through my mentions and it was like reading through James'. Hundreds of tweets were coming through mentioning our names and it was surreal to see so many people talking about me. Most of them had the video of me jumping on stage to help James. I wasn't going to tweet anything but then I decided against it. I typed out a short heart-filled message, thanking the people for following me. Almost a second later, James and Carlos awed at my tweet. I deadpanned towards Logan and he started laughing.
"Kendall that was really sweet." Carlos said and James nodded in agreement.
"They're only following me because of you." I told James.
"You're welcome." He replied and I shook my head.
"So, how long do you plan on staying in New York?" Logan asked and I wasn't sure who he was asking, so, I let James reply.
"Well, I'm here to visit my Grandma, who I haven't seen in so long. She's like my biggest fan, so, she's going to be so happy to see me. But then after that I'll probably head home."
"Where's that?" Logan asked and Carlos rolled his eyes at his boyfriend.
"He lives in California, Logan."
"Carlos, the man is rich, he might have a house in every state for all we know."
"No, no, just California, for now." James responded with a laugh.
"If you're here to see your Grandma, why are you hanging out with…us?" Logan asked and I couldn't help but laugh. The look Carlos gave him was something I had never seen before. Logan even had to chuckle before he tried to explain himself. "Not that it isn't amazing having you here with us. It's just…you look like you miss her."
"I miss her but Kendall wanted to come see you guys." James said and the two of them looked at me.
"No, no, to be fair. I told James where I was going and he decided to join me." I hurried up and explained before Carlos could yell at me. Too bad it happened anyway.
"That's because he wasn't trying to be without a bodyguard!"
"Carlos, you've known him for a second and you're already taking his side." I said and he glared at me which made James laugh.
"It's okay. I wanted to come with him because he told me about you being a big fan. I love surprising people and the look on your face was worth it." James said and Carlos smiled at that.
"And you took his side so easily." I mumbled and Carlos smile quickly switched to a glare that I had to laugh at.
"It's been pretty fun hanging out with you guys though. I mean the first half hour of hanging out with you guys, I end up hiding in a bathroom, so, who knows what else we could get into." James told them and Logan shook his head while Carlos nodded his. I took James words as us making our exit, so, I stood up and he did the same.
"I know Carlos is dying to ask this, so, I'll ask for him. James, can we all take a picture?" I asked and Carlos glared at me but had a smile on his face the entire time. We all got up and got together for a group selfie and James happily took the picture of all of us.
"Thank you." Carlos said before he hugged me. James came in and gestured for Logan to join us in this mush of a group hug.
"Alright, I'll call you guys later." I told them.
"And it was nice meeting you too." James added.
"Trust me, the pleasure was all ours." Logan said and we all looked at Carlos as he continued to hug James.
"Sorry." He said once he realized that the group hug was over. Logan pulled Carlos away from James and I shook my head at the two of them.
"I'll send you the picture." I told Carlos and he smiled and nodded as me and James headed for the door.
"Okay, bye." Carlos said as he waved.
"Bye." I said as Logan opened the door for us. I peeked out the door to see if anyone was coming before I moved the other side of the wall, making James laugh at me.
"Shh, they might know how you sound when you laugh and we'll never make it out of here alive." I told him and Logan shook his head at me.
"You're still ridiculous. You guys be safe."
"Always, bye Logan." I said as I continued to be stealthy. James gave Logan another quick hug before he followed me to the elevators. I pressed the button for it as James took out his phone.
"Hey, can you meet us where you dropped us off at?" James said into his phone and when the doors to the elevators opened, I braced myself. The guy who walked off the elevator gave me a smug look when he saw me leaning against the wall before he moved past us. James shook his head at me and stepped onto the elevator and I was right behind him. I stopped when I saw that there was a girl on the elevator staring at James. She seemed to be frozen in shock and James looked like he was trying not to look at her.
"If you want a picture nod before the elevators stop and we get off." I told her and she quickly nodded, looking at me. I grabbed her phone out of her hand and James leaned in for the selfie and the girl managed to smile the second time I took the picture.
"Thank you. I love you James." She said as the elevator doors dinged and opened.
"You're welcome. I love you more." James said to her before we made our way to the front.
"You're getting better with fans." He added as I held the door open for him.
"I understand the struggle and I knew she would be so mad at herself if she hadn't spoke up." I told him as the driver pulled up. It was kind of scary how on time he was but then again, he could've been waiting here the whole time. I held the door opened for him and he climbed in as the car behind us honked their horn. When I got in the car, James was looking at me with a smile on his face.
"What?" I asked him when he didn't say anything.
"Kendall, where are we going?" He asked in a super animated voice.
"To you Grandma's-"
"To Gammy's house!" He yelled before he started to sing it like Dora the Explorer.
"You're ridiculous." I told him, laughing.
"I'm so freakin' excited!" He mumbled, bouncing in his seat.
"I didn't know you were this excited. If I did we would've left Logan and Carlos sooner."
"I didn't realize I was this excited until we left." James explained with a huge smile on his face. There was a silence in the car besides the low hum of the radio and James bouncing in his seat. I tried to ignore him and look out at the New York streets but then I felt a poke in my side. I turned to see that James was way closer than he was before. He gave me a quick kiss before he stared into my eyes.
"Hey Kendall, where are we going?" He asked me in a whisper and I resisted rolling my eyes and decided to play along.
"Gammy's house?" I said to him and it honestly looked like he was charging up as he slowly leaned away from me.
"YYEAH!" He screamed and I had never felt so much second hand embarrassment than now as the driver looked at him through the rearview mirror before turning the corner.
A/N: Ah the last part of this chapter killed me when I first read it. I had to keep that part. I am thoroughly satisfied with the dynamic that I gave when it comes to Carlos and Logan because the mess that I had before was, well, a mess. I really hope whoever is still reading this enjoyed this. Please, let me know what you think...or curse me out for not updating. Whichever you choose. Thank you! :D
