In the morning after the stomp, which was a Monday, Manny said that they had to find some alone time between or after classes, because some decisions had to be changed, and some plans had to be made.

That week, apart from keeping to the story that Harry didn't know anything about Hogwarts intact, Harry and Manny had a good look at the teachers themselves. In this time, Harry realized that Professor Minerva McGonagall (Transfiguration) was one of his most favourite teachers, as she was strict, yet fair- something which couldn't be said for Profess- no, wait- Severus Snape (Potions), that Professor Cuthbert Binns (History of Magic) was the most boring teacher (and ghost, ironically, as he was ancient) by far. Professors Filius Flitwick (Charms) and Pomona Sprout (Herbology) were interesting enough to keep him focused. Professor Aurora Sinistra (Astronomy), however, was fun when it came to teaching her classes, which took place at midnight, while Professor Quirinus Quirrel (Defence Against the Dark Arts) was scared of his own shadow, and Harry found that apart from the fact that he and Manny were practically genii (for the unknowing, it is the plural form of genius, by ancient standards) at everything, they felt interest in the Magic Theory, given the Unique Magic concept that they had stumbled upon.

As it turned out, Professors McGonagall, Flitwick, Sprout and Snape were the heads of Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Slytherin. And their attitudes as such, were different- McGonagall was fair and just, and that decreased by House to Slytherin, where Snape unusually favoured Slytherins. When Friday rolled about, Harry was surprised to find Hedwig flying in with a message from Hagrid, which invited the four of them to tea that afternoon at 3:30 pm after double Potions.

Snape proved to Manny that he despised Harry in the first 10 minutes of the class, however, when Harry was targeted by him in the form of a test of knowledge... as a written play, the exchange went something like this :-

Snape: "Ah, Mr. Potter, our new... celebrity. I see that you almost slept in class. Considering your attitude, I must conclude that you have read the text required for the entire year. Well, tell me then, what I would get if I added the powdered root of asphodel to a wormwood infusion?"

Harry (actually Manny, who decided that Snape wasn't worth Harry's actual presence) [looking like he was asleep]: "..."

Snape: "Let's try again, shall we? Where should I look to find a bezoar?"

Manny [Still feigning sleep]: "..."

Snape: "Well, then, Potter- Differentiate between monkshood and wolfsbane."

A few seconds pass...

Snape: "I believe, then that-"

Manny [Snaps head up, and smirks at Snape]: "Are they all the questions you have for me, then? To answer them in order- The Draught of Living Death; the stone that is an antidote to most poisons would be found in the stomach of a goat; and the two are the same with the third name of aconite... also, the first and last questions are not to be asked until we reach at least 10 hours of study- You can't really expect a first year to answer them within the first ten minutes of class- apart from me and Hermione, that is."

When this was over, the class burst out into laughter, even the Slytherins joining in. Snape looked less than pleased with Manny's behaviour and had the class shut up

"Mr. Potter, you have earned yourself and Ms. Granger a detention to be held at eight tonight. I expect-" he began, but Manny interrupted.

He stood up and threw a white glove at Snape, shaking the cores of the lot of them in the process. "I believe that you just besmirched my and Ms. Granger's honour. In accordance with wizarding customs, I, Harry James Potter, hereby challenge you, Severus Tobias Snape, to a Wizard's Duel, to be held tonight, at six sharp, in the sole presence of my friends, Ronald Weasley, Draco Malfoy, and Hermione Granger, along with the presence of the Headmaster and Heads of Houses, other than the Challenged, of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry!"

Snape paled considerably, knowing that when the Challenger dictates the audience of an Wizard's Duel, they can be the only ones in attendance, apart from a single Healer. He wasn't sure that Dumbledore would approve of this duel, and wasn't inclined to let him know of the Cause of this Duel.

"Very well, then! I, Severus Tobias Snape, accept this Duel, and consent to the normal rules of the Duel. I wish you good luck, Potter. Don't run away! Class Dismissed!" he bellowed, and glided away from the classroom to prepare for Harry's Torture.

The first-years in Double Potions were shocked and looked at Harry in awe. Ron and Draco, however, had the blood drain from their faces on seeing and hearing a good-natured Harry be so audacious. Hermione almost went after Snape to apologize in Harry's stead and call the Duel off, tears brimming in her eyes, but Harry (who had switched back), held her back.

"Let go, Harry! You can't win in a duel with Snape, no matter how awful he is! There's no way I can watch you be tortured by him!" she almost bellowed, tears now streaming from her eyes and her eyes themselves threatening to kill anyone who stops her. Harry and Manny, who had both grown closer to them decided that there was no hiding from those three

"Calm down, Mione!" he softly and guiltily pleaded. "I have a very good reason to challenge him anyway, and I do believe I mentioned that you were to watch it... If I had sense, I wouldn't've asked you to watch me make a fool of myself anyway. How about I tell you a few interesting facts about Hogwarts that would interest everyone here, eh? will that make up for scaring you?"

Hermione thought for a few moments, while her tears stopped flowing and she settled down. She decided and said, "As long as they aren't in Hogwarts: A History , I guess I'll be OK. I trust you, Harry, and so I hope that you win. Let me visit Hagrid with you, right now!"

Harry smile, having appeased the demoness that might have come out of her- she may be calm, but the way she ripped into some of the less competent teacher in school before Hogwarts had left him and Manny scarred for life.
