Jade sat in the corner of the cell with her head down, seemingly defeated.
"Psst!"
She turned her head and was surprised to find Mileena wearing a black hooded cloak.
"Mileena? What are you doing here?"
Mileena pulled out a key from her cloak. "I'm going to get you out of here."
Jade approached closer to the bars. "But why? You're the last person I would think to come to see me."
"Because I'm the one who helped Kitana escape."
Jade's eyes widen in shock, but she remained silent.
"And you were right! She did go through the armory. I helped distract Baraka and other Tarkatans."
"Well," Jade said, still in shock, "I would never have thought you would help her with anything."
"She helped me with my…" Mileena glanced down at her crotch. "I've just returned the favor."
Jade also glanced down and looked at her questionably. "Does this have to do with your secret lover?"
There was a pause, and then Mileena nodded her head.
Jade chuckled, "Let me guess. It was your first time and he got rough with you."
"Yeah, something like that."
Mileena used the key to open the cell door. Jade walked out and glanced around.
"The coast is clear! I knocked out the guards so you could go around the back."
Jade turned to Mileena. "I can't believe I'm saying this, but…" She paused for a moment. "Thank you, Mileena."
"Yeah, yeah! Just go before someone sees you!"
Mileena watched Jade run off in the distance and disappear out of view.
She returned to her room and took off her black cloak. She held it in her hands, missing her sister.
Oh, father will be so angry that Jade escaped.
But Mileena could care less.
She put away the black cloak in her closet and went to bed.
That night, she was plagued with nightmares.
The first nightmare depicted Scorpion bloody and beaten in the middle of the Coliseum. The four-armed freak Kintaro held him in front of Shao Kahn, who sat passively on his throne. Mileena begged her father to let him go, but he ignored her and callously stared ahead.
"You have defiled my daughter! And for that, your sentence will be death!" His voice boomed throughout the coliseum, followed by a roar of cheers.
Kintaro lifted him up and ripped him apart limb by limb, removing his head last.
"Noooo!" Mileena screamed.
Shao Kahn roared with a sinister laugh.
Mileena collapsed to her knees, wailing.
He turned to look at her with his eyes glowing red.
"You will be punished as well for allowing him to take your virtue!"
Two guards take her away to the Flesh Pits. They strap her down to a cold metal table. She struggled the whole time and screamed at them. "I'll kill you! I'll kill all of you!"
Shang Tsung appears with a scalpel in hand and approaching closer to her. He lowered it to her abdomen.
"No!" She struggled to break free. "You're not taking my son!"
"Don't worry, Mileena. This will all be over soon!" His voice was calm, almost soothing.
"No, please!"
He cut across her lower abdomen with the scalpel.
She screamed out, not in pain, but in a complete rage.
He reached in and pulled out what appeared to be a large blood clot. She watched in horror as he crushed it in his hand, and more blood spewed forth.
"I'll fucking kill you for that sorcerer!"
"This will all be over soon!" He repeated.
Mileena awakened with a gasp and nearly jumped out of bed. She glanced around the room and began to calm down.
"It's just a dream." She said to herself and repeated, "It's just a dream. It's not real."
She lay back down and began to calm down.
Within a few minutes, she was asleep again. This time, her dream started rather pleasant. She was in the Courtyard with Scorpion.
"Are you ready?" He asked.
"I'm ready." She replied and got in her stance. "Let's dance!"
They collided in a beautifully choreographed combat. Neither of them striking a blow, nor spewing any blood. It felt like playtime for Mileena. She laughed and giggled when evading his attacks. Scorpion seemed to be in a trance.
He suddenly vanished and reappeared behind her. Mileena whipped around to face him, and he roughly grabbed her and threw her backward.
She suddenly landed onto her bed in her bedroom. He crawled on top of her and pinned her down.
"Mileena," he said seductively, "You've been a bad girl!"
She giggled, "What are you going to do to me?"
"I'll punish you in ways you've never been punished before."
"Oh, yes," she moaned, "Punish me!"
He wrapped his spear rope around her hands and tied them to the bedposts. He used his kunai to strip her clothes off. He then leaned in and whispered into her ear.
"Close your eyes!"
She smiled and obeyed him.
She could feel him touching her all over. She then felt him fondling her womanhood.
She let out a whimper.
She then felt his hand trailing up her body again, but strangely felt a little rough. She felt his hands cup her breasts. The texture of his hands felt strange, almost scaly with claws.
She opened her eyes and gasped in horror to find Reptile in Scorpion's place.
She struggled against her bonds and screamed, "Get off me!"
He smirked and hissed, "You don't have a choice, princess!"
She screamed and growled at him and writhed as his hands began trailing down her body and down to her thighs. She closed her legs tight and struggled against his unusual super strength. He forced her thighs apart and mounted her.
"You motherfucker!" She screamed. "I'll kill you for this!"
He emitted a dark laugh. "My seed will inherit the throne!"
She spat on his face. He responded by licking off the spit and grabbed her by the nape of her neck, forcing her head back. His tongue slithered on her neck and jaw.
She let out a guttural cry.
Mileena shot out of bed and landed on the floor. She glanced around her room and leaned back against the bedside. She was panting hard, and beads of sweat rolled down her face.
She wiped the sweat from her brow and stood up. She retrieved one of her robes in the closet and walked out into the balcony.
The crisp fresh air and the early rays of the sun peeking at the horizon were enough to make her feel better. She wished Scorpion were here to embrace her with his warmth. Just then, she suddenly felt the warmth emanating from her abdomen. She smiled and placed a hand on her stomach.
"I won't let anything bad happen to you, my son."
Later that day, Shao Kahn suggested that Mileena spend her time away from the palace. He provided her with a large pouch of coins. Mileena suspected that he just wanted to get her out so he could meet with his generals, and whoever else is involved with the invasion plans.
She wore one of her hooded magenta cloaks and left the palace. Reptile followed behind but kept his distance.
She couldn't help but feel uneasy about the nightmare she had with him. Her thoughts raced through her head.
He would never do that, not after what happened yesterday.
She couldn't help but think that maybe he secretly wants to be the emperor, but the only way he can do that is to take the emperor's daughter.
Mileena shuttered at the thought as a chill ran down her spine. She shook it off and hoped that Reptile hadn't noticed.
She reached the marketplace, which was full of people and creatures alike. She walked among the crowd and looked at various vendors.
Of course, a lot of them had mistaken her as Kitana.
"Greetings, Princess Kitana! Is there something I can help you find?" An older man said with a huge smile on his face.
Mileena didn't feel the need to correct him and answered, "How much do you want for that broche?"
She pointed to a beautifully decorated broche with a large pink gem in the middle.
"10 gold coins," He said and added, "But for a discount especially for you, 6 gold coins."
"Thanks." Mileena handed him 6 coins, and he wrapped the broche in a small cloth and handed it to her.
"Nice doing business with you, princess Kitana."
"Likewise!" She said, and walked away.
None of the other vendors appealed to her, and she went further on to the food vendors. She picked up a familiar scent and went straight for the chocolates.
A young female vendor greeted her, "Princess Kitana, welcome!"
"How much for your chocolates?"
"Well, that depends. Do you want a small amount or a large amount?"
"I want a large amount."
"That will be 2 gold coins."
Mileena gave her 2 gold coins, and she placed the chocolates in a large pouch and handed it to her.
"It's nice doing business with you, princess Kitana. Please come again soon!"
Mileena walked off and went into a small alley. She removed her veil and began eating the pouch of chocolates. While she was eating the chocolates, she peeked around the corner to make sure no one was coming in her direction. Reptile was nowhere in sight, but she figured that he cloaked himself and is probably still watching her from a distance.
She looked around the opposite side and noticed the outhouse. The left side for men and the right side for women. She had a crazy idea pop into her head.
She finished the chocolates and walked towards the outhouse. She entered the outhouse on the women's side. It only housed two empty areas draped only with disheveled curtains. She waited for someone to come.
A while later, a young woman enters the outhouse. She wore a light brown cloak.
Perfect!
Mileena approached her. "Hey, I'll trade you for your clothes."
"What? Why?"
Mileena pulled out her pouch of coins and showed it to her. "You can have these gold coins if you trade clothes with me."
The young woman's eyes lit up and agreed. "Okay."
They change into each other's clothes. Mileena also removed her veil and gave it to her. The young woman didn't seem to care that she wasn't Kitana. Mileena had to rip off part of the light brown cloak and used it to shield her face.
Mileena let the young woman leave first, and she walked out shortly after. The young woman made her way back towards the vendors in the marketplace. Mileena took a different route. She glanced in the young woman's direction, and she could almost make out an outline of an invisible figure following her.
Good!
She walked back to the palace but entered through the back entrance, where there are no guards. She went towards the throne room, where the meeting took place. She went by the entryway and peeked in. The usual generals were there. She looked around, hoping to find Scorpion among them, but he was nowhere in sight.
Shao Kahn and Quan Chi were in the middle of a discussion. She stealthily walked in and hid by one of the columns.
"…once Sindel is resurrected, the protective ward will vanish and give you the free reign to enter Earthrealm."
"Indeed." Shao Kahn said and added, "This is great news, Quan Chi."
"Once the resurrection is complete, I will bring your Empress to you, and the invasion can finally begin."
"Yes, but first, we must celebrate Sindel's resurrection!"
All but a few of the men cheered.
Quan Chi and Shang Tsung did not appear to be in a cheerful mood.
Shortly after, the female servants enter the throne room with some wine.
Mileena noticed Quan Chi briefly speaking to Shang Tsung. Then they began leaving the throne room. Her father was too preoccupied with the wine and the crowd to even notice. She shifted further into the dark corner of the column so they wouldn't see her on their way out.
Once they left, she stealthily crept out of the throne room and followed them. She kept a reasonable distance from them. She noticed that they were utterly silent, which only spurred her curiosity.
She followed them to the Flesh Pits.
Why did they come here?
She stealthily crept closer to them as they stopped by the examination area.
Shang Tsung turned to Quan Chi. "Now, what is it that you wanted to discuss?"
"A few days ago, I arrived to meet with Shao Kahn. But he was nowhere to be found."
He paused for a moment and continued, "Instead, I find his daughter, Mileena, sitting on his throne."
Mileena cringed as she remembered that day.
Then he said, "I noticed something different about her."
"How so?"
"She seems to be under some kind of spell."
Mileena's eyes grew big.
Shit! He knows!
"What kind of spell?" Shang Tsung asked curiously.
"I'm not sure. Has she changed since her creation?"
"I have noticed a change in behavior. She has become more reclusive and maybe secretly consorting with Baraka."
A conniving grin forms on her face knowing that they don't suspect Scorpion at all.
Then Shang Tsung continued, "I believe Kitana may have something to do with this. Before Mileena's change in behavior, Kitana was also very reclusive. Shao Kahn suspected then that she was consorting with someone in Earthrealm."
"I see, but who could have conjured such a spell on Mileena."
"I'm not sure. I may have an idea who, but I fear she might already be dead for a long time now."
She? Is he talking about Zareta?
Quan Chi asked, "I'd like to examine Mileena myself."
"Very well. I will have Reptile bring her here tomorrow."
They leave the Flesh Pits. Mileena waits until the coast is clear and then leaves.
She carefully searches the palace for Zareta. It wasn't easy since half of the female servants were brunettes.
Why couldn't Zareta just have red hair or something?
She finds Zareta on the bottom of the stairway, casually leaning on the railing as if she's waiting for someone.
Mileena approaches her. "Zareta! I need to talk to you."
Zareta eyed her outfit. "Peasant clothes? That's different."
Mileena glances around and says in a hushed tone, "I'm not supposed to be here right now, but…"
"You needed to speak with me alone."
"Yes."
Zareta follows Mileena up the stairs and into her room. Mileena glances around before shutting her door and turning to face Zareta.
"Quan Chi and Shang Tsung suspect me! They know I'm under a spell."
Zareta simply gives her a warm smile and casually responds, "You have nothing to worry about!"
"But I think Shang Tsung knows that you cast the spell."
Zareta chuckled and shook her head. "I've been dead to him for a long time now."
"He did say something like that."
Zareta laughed, "I'm surprised he even thought of me at all."
"What if Quan Chi finds out about my son?"
Zareta approached her and placed a hand on her abdomen. "What Quan Chi will find is a protective ward that neither he nor Shang Tsung can break."
"So, what do I tell them if they question me?"
"You don't have to tell them anything. Allow the spell to work for you."
Mileena put her head down. That wasn't the answer she was looking for.
Zareta placed her hands on Mileena's shoulders. "Trust me. There is nothing for you to worry about."
Later on, Mileena switched back into her usual attire and kept the peasant clothes in her closet. Those could be useful someday.
She sat on her bed and took a deep breath.
He should be coming any minute now.
She had mentally prepared herself for anything.
Just then, she slightly heard footsteps approach her door.
She expected it to swing open, but it gradually opened. She sees Reptile peek around the corner. The moment their eyes lock, she simply gives him a wave. He didn't react, only walked in with the magenta robe in hand, and slowly closed the door.
"Thanks for bringing my robe back."
He immediately threw it in her face while she threw up her arms to shield herself. The robe completely covered her whole upper body. Nothing happened, so she threw it off.
"Don't worry. I won't tell my father or that bastard sorcerer that you lost me."
He didn't respond and left her room, slamming her door shut.
"Well, that went better than expected." She said to herself.
