In his office a panicking Minister or Magic was shrieking about what the hell he was going to do when Amelia who had walked in slapped him across the face in order to silence the panicking man. "Cornelius you will see sense this minute! Now tell me please what exactly is wrong with you?" she asked pouring them both a glass of firewhiskey and handing one to him.

"As you know Dolores Jane Umbridge attacked me and so is awaiting trial. However in my investigations into all the trials she'd been a part of I discovered something monumental which shall never be forgotten. I can see that I was not minister of that time but she denied Sirius Orion Black and then wrote in the files he'd gotten one. There are no trial records or anything. Look if he's guilty I'll hold my hand up and he'll go right back there but the fact is that a Lord of an ancient and most noble house was denied a trial!" he said shivering with fear.

"I know this because as you know before becoming the Minister of magic I worked in the family records and affairs department. The late Orion Black came to me in distress one day claiming that his wife Walburga had burned Sirius off their family tree for not becoming a death eater. He said although she had burned him from the tree Sirius was to become the next Lord Black as soon as he died and I even signed the forms myself. Sirius was sixteen at the time. I had in all honesty forgotten about it because I was very busy in those days and then in nineteen eighty five I was made Minister of Magic. When I was told he received a trial and was found guilty by Dolores I believed her. I love my job and don't want to lose it!" he exclaimed really loudly crying and beginning to hyperventilate as Amelia dropped her glass shattering it on the floor and collapsing in shock. She couldn't move for a moment. I mean how many other lives had Dolores fucking Umbridge tainted? She was destined to marry Sirius but didn't after he'd done supposedly what he'd done.

"Prepare a trial at once and I will have one of my house elves capture him and place him magic restraining cuffs. One way or another he will answer for this!" she snapped. Sirius was in his room when he was suddenly nabbed exclaiming really loudly. He found himself not in a cell but in a room in the Ministry with the Minister of Magic and Amelia Bones.

"Sirius Black I was attacked the other day by Dolores Umbridge and in my investigations into her work discovered you never got a trial something I cannot ever let go. In one hour the Wizengamot will meet for an emergency trial and you will be tried at once using veritas serum. Should you be guilty you will return to Azkaban and that shall be the end of it! Prepare yourself!" said Fudge leaving while a stunned Sirius cried tears of confusion and joy. Albus was at his office when the summons for the emergency Wizengamot meeting was called. He donned his finest robes and left at once. He hoped to Merlin that he would not be asked on the whereabouts of Harry Potter as he didn't have them. Would they wonder why he didn't know where Harry was? Would he be punished for harry being gay? Had Augusta spoken out of turn as he had wanted her to? This all went through his mind as he entered the chamber heading for his chief warlock seat when he was stopped.

"Albus I am sorry but for today as a conflict of interest you will need to sit in the Dumbledore family seat. All shall be explained in a while!" Cornelius said as Albus frowned deeply. Everyone came in and all went to the light, dark and neutral positions depending on what their families aligned with. Once everyone was seated he explained why Dumbledore was now in his family seat which was accepted.

"Welcome everyone. Now earlier in the week I was attacked by Dolores Jane Umbridge whom I had to fire for trying to kill the boy who lived. She is currently awaiting trial. During this time I investigated everything she'd ever done and every case she'd ever worked. I was horrified to learn that the Lord of an ancient and most noble house was denied a trial by her in nineteen eighty one because she felt like he did not deserve it and simply put him in jail without one!" he said as there was screaming and shouting all over the Wizengamot with people standing out of their seats and screaming at the sincere injustice of it all. It even resulted in some minor curses flying which the aurors soon dealt with.

"Lord Sirius Orion Black was denied a trial and today he is getting one. The fact that Dolores Umbridge was allowed to lie so freely and get away with it is so disgusting it doesn't even warrant thought. I caution you all that if guilty he may even face the veil. You will remain calm and he will testify under veritas serum!" he said as Sirius was brought up in the cage with many people looking terrified and shocked because he looked so healthy. Even Albus was suspicious as he'd not looked so good yesterday. The truth serum was administered and an extra drop was given to be extra sure he was being honest.

"What is your name?"

"Sirius Orion Black!"

"Ok I can see that it is working now. Have you ever broken the law?"

"Yes I have!"

"How did you break the law?"

"I became an animagus at the age of sixteen and did not register myself at the Ministry of Magic."

"Were you the only one who did this?"

"No James Potter and Peter Pettigrew did it with me!"

"What were your forms?"

"I am a grim, Peter is a rat and James was a stag!"

"Did you kill Peter Pettigrew and fifteen muggles?"

"No I didn't. He killed the fifteen muggles himself. He's not dead. He lives as a rat and escaped into the sewers after he let Voldemort kill James and Lily Potter. He was a death eater and we never even saw it!" he said as everyone saw tears wildly spilling from the emotionless face the serum caused him to have. It was quite clear that he felt terrible.

"If you did not do any of it why did you then say you were guilty when you were picked up by aurors?"

"I said that because I was the one who suggested we change our secret keeper to peter. It was my fault he was our secret keeper in the first place and as a consequence I felt guilty for all he'd done!"

"Did you cast the fidelius charm yourself?"

"Which time?"

"Both times"

"No Albus Dumbledore cast it the first time whilst teaching us how to do it. We then cast it the second time to change it from me to Peter. We thought Peter was honestly useless and that no one would ever think he'd be the secret keeper as I was the best friend of James myself. I mean we were like brothers. When I discovered Peter had been a death eater it tore me apart inside. I have regretted suggesting him as the new secret keeper each and every day. If I hadn't my brother James would still be here with me" he said full on weeping now as many people in the chamber had tears in their own eyes. It was truly unfair to say the least.

"Why did you give up Harry Potter if you knew it had been Peter all along wasn't that a tad irresponsible?"

"I was twenty one I didn't know any better. I gave him to Hagrid as he said Dumbledore needed to take Harry away to a safe place. I tried to tell him no but he is huge and wouldn't take no for an answer. To be honest my mind was too focused on finding Peter and killing him to care. Yes I did think of killing him for getting my best friends killed."

"Are you the godfather to Harry James Potter and did you perform the godfather ritual?"

"I did. If I did anything bad to Harry myself I'd have been dead on the spot with no time to even kill Peter!"

"Thank you Mr Black. Having heard all he has to say it is plain as day that he is innocent. Therefore I ask you all to vote as to whether he should be freed or not now!" he said as Albus looked nervous. All his best laid plans were going belly up before his very eyes. At least now he could control Harry when he was once more at school thanks to Bagnold's schooling law. He'd allow Harry to have the freedom for now. Everyone voted and Sirius was declared an innocent man and freed of all charges.

"As we know Magic can sometimes defy even the reasons of logic so I am going to try something now which sounds completely ridiculous but accio Peter Pettigrew!" the minister called out as everyone watched and then laughed as nothing happened. It would seem magic didn't work quite the way he was thinking. The laughter however died in the throats of everyone there when Peter almost flattened the Minister as he landed on him and was stunned at once. He was actually alive. People screamed their heads off and a few people even fainted. He was revived and questioned using truth serum and it is suffice to say he sung like a canary. When it was put to a vote on if he should go to jail that was instantly declined by everyone present. He didn't deserve jail. He deserved death. At four pm that afternoon in front of Harry and Draco who were in disguise he was fed to a very hungry dementor. Sirius was free at last and boy did it feel good. Because of the fact that he had looked utterly ill and emaciated in his wanted photos and looked the complete picture of health now he wasn't bothered by anyone.

Dolores was in her cell in the ministry and got word of him being pardoned and got so viscerally angry that it brought on a heart attack. She clutched at her chest knowing what it was but was determined not to call for help for such a disgusting and muggle matter. She was disgusted by it. She wouldn't even give anyone the satisfaction of finding her like that. She'd sooner die then succumb to a fucking muggle disease where people can see her. All in all Harry was delighted that Sirius was at last free. So far it was the best day of his life. He'd have a father always now.
