Cool Kid Saves the Cats

Chapter 12: Derek the Savage: Part 3

Cool Kid kicks open the door leading outside, in a hot pursuit of Derek. As Cool Kid walks out, the sky begins to weep, and covers him in rain water. Maybe if Cool Kid had just stayed in that stadium, or in that van, or in that hospital bed, or even just stayed home from the very beginning, what was about to happen would never of had to happen. Maybe that's what the world was trying to tell him. This thought entered his mind for a split second, before his erased it from his mind and chased after Derek.

The railings were slippery, and the steps were almost flooding with water. The rain had picked up even more, faster than Cool Kid had ever seen before. Maybe this was a result of all the pollution that's happened to the world, maybe the cloud above him bursted and all of the water in it fell down at once. For whatever reason it was, Cool Kid tried his best to ignore it as he nearly slipped on every step. The more he thought about it, the more worried he became about what he would see when he reached the bottom of the winding staircase.

"Derek! Stop running! Come on! Stop being such a pussy! You could help me! You could redeem yourself! Your actions don't define you!" As Cool Kid yelled, thunder erupted above him, along with the rain. Everytime he opened his mouth, a bright white streak of lightning would tear across the sky, followed immediately by a violent crash of thunder. Cool Kid's voice was silenced by the deafening screeches of nature, worrying Cool Kid even more. He descended down the staircase slower, until he was nearly walking. But no matter how much his mind attested to seeing what was at the bottom of the staircase, his body kept pushing forward, despite what might be lying ahead.

When Cool Kid finally reached the bottom of the stairs and lifted his head, his heart plunged downwards. In front of him, he saw Derek, covered in rainwater and tears, though it was impossible to tell the difference. Derek shook his head slowly, and closed his eyes, then mouthed the words "you shouldn't have come". Below Derek's head, lay a large gloved hand, crushing his entire neck. Even if he could be heard over this bellowing storm, no sound could have escaped through his windpipe.

Cool Kid reached down for his guns, ready to kill the man choking Derek, when suddenly a hand arose from behind Derek. It clearly belonged to the man choking him, he used his free hand to point upward. Cool Kid didn't understand at first, but followed his finger, looking upward to see three figures, covered in shadow, staring down at them. He couldn't see their faces, but he recognized them instantly: they were the shadows he saw in the video all those years ago: the ones that stole Cool Cat. He instinctively pulled out his guns, ready to fight all of them, but when he did he heard a hard and loud "crichk" sound. He looked back down at Derek, only to see his body fall lifesly to the floor.

Cool Kid stares at his body, with the intense red marks on his neck, he can't avert his eyes. After a minutes of staring at his corpse, he looks up and stares at the monster that ended his life, finally getting a good look at him. He was huge, probably over seven feet, if his calculations were correct. He was wearing all black, similar to Cool Kid. He wore a black leather duster, with black leather pants and large black boots and black leather gloves. But he wore nothing under the duster, showing off his bare chest, which has two large Bs facing opposite directions carved into it. Finally, Cool Kid saw his head: the bottom of his face was covered by a metal mask that featured that a large twisted smile, his eyes were a beautiful shade of blue, but behind that beauty was a look of pure evil and despair. Finally, Cool Kid saw his hair, which was a light shade of blond. At that moment Cool Kid knew who he was facing, he knew who his guns were pointed at, he knew who killed Derek Savage: Butch the Bully. Butch looked him in the eye, then turned away and started walking down the alley. Cool Kid tried screaming at him, but the thunder continued to drown him out.

He finally got ready to pull the trigger, ready to finally kill him, once and for all. But as he pulled the triggers, Derek suddenly stood up, and the bullets flew through his skull. Cool Kid stood there in shock, walking backwards from Derek, who was seemingly alive again. The whole left side of his head was completely blown away, parts of his brain laid on the floor behind him. It didn't take Cool Kid long to not only understand what was happening, but to also accept it: Derek had become a zombie. Cool Kid took a deep breath then aimed both of his pistols at Derek, then fired. A barrage of bullets flew towards Derek at lighting speed. Each individual bullet pierced through his zombified skin and send chunks of his body flying backwards. When Cool Kid ran out of bullets in the clip, he threw the pistol in the air, and tossed the next mag up with it. The new mag would always hit the gun at the perfect angle, knocking out the old mag and replacing it with itself. Then the gun would fall back into Cool Kid's hand perfectly, and was immediately fired again.

After a few clips, Derek's upper body was destroyed, nothing but a pile of mush remained behind the body. Derek's legs stilled tried to press forward, but after a few steps, finally lost the life within them and fell down. Once the legs hit the floor, the clouds started to clear up, and the rain and thunder finally stopped. Cool Kid looked up, to both admire the sunshine above him, but to also see if his enemies still laid on the rooftops. They didn't. They must have ran while Cool Kid fought that zombie. He let out a deep sigh, then started to progress through the alleyway, but was stopped by a shiny object hidden within the remains of Derek's body. Cool Kid reached inside and pulled out a singular arrow. It was unique, unlike any arrow he had seen before. It looked as though it was made out of obsidian. The arrow vibrated lightly in his hand as he held it. He didn't know how, but this arrow must have been what turned Derek into that monster.

While contemplating the reasoning behind the arrow, a car drove up to the alleyway and FaDoug ran out of it. As he ran toward Cool Kid, Cool Kid hid the arrow in the back of his trench coat, without FaDoug noticing.

"Holy shit Cool Kid! Are you okay!? There was this huge storm and I had no idea what to do and then I heard gunshots and I-"

"It's fine FaDoug. I'm okay. Just had a little run in with some friends. Let's get in the car, we got somewhere to go."

"S-somewhere to go? Where is that? I can drive us there but you gotta tell me where!" As Cool Kid opened the car door and stepped inside, he looked back at FaDoug and smiled.

"To our destiny".
