She could see the relief on Frasier's face and she knew that she should be relieved as well. He smiled and let out a breath. "Well, thank God for that. I-I man… I just thought-Oh Daphne…" he hugged her again and she clung to him for comfort. But all she could feel inside was betrayal.

"This is just wonderful, Daphne. Congratulations!" He hugged her tightly yet again and she couldn't help but smile.

"Well, thank you, Dr. Crane."

"This certainly clears up while you've been feeling so under the weather. I don't know why it never occurred to me that-."

"Dr. Crane?"

"Now you know that this changes things quite a bit of course."

Her eyes widened. "What are you s saying?"

"Well, I'm certainly not going to expect you to do as much around the place. You can still help Dad with his exercises, but when the time comes-."

"Dr. Crane?"

"We'll throw you a baby shower of course and invite everyone we know. And perhaps even a party for the lucky father."

The word father made her shiver. "Dr. Crane, please!"

"And then-."

"DR. CRANE WILL YOU BLOODY LISTEN TO ME?" She shouted.

He was taken aback by her outburst and she regretted it of course but it was the only way. "I'm sorry, Daphne. What is it?"

"There's something I need to tell you."

"All right, what is it?"

"That night that I left you the note and said I was going over to a friend's house."

"Yes?"

"Well, I did. I-I mean I was, but it wasn't a lie. Not really, Dr. Crane."

"What are you saying?"

She took a deep breath. "I went over to your brother's house."

"Niles?"

"Well, yes. He's the only brother you've got, isn't he?"

"Daphne-."

"I'm sorry, I'm just-."

"I don't-."

"Dr. Crane, please, let me explain! If I don't say it now then I never will!"

"I see. So you went to Niles'"

"Yes. I went over there because… well, I wanted to… I spent the night with him." She looked at Frasier but his expression remained as it was-full of concern. There was no way to explain it other than telling him the truth.

"So you spent the night with Niles. As in…."

"We made love. The baby… my baby… it's your brother's baby too."
