Chapter 27: Club Invasion
Peter was perched at the top of the Chrysler Building, with a screwdriver and a tiny robotic object in his hand.
"Just need to reset the voltage and the GPS, and voila! Welcome to the world, little Spider-Tracer! This can help me track down criminals, and well all of the backpacks I've lost these past two years." Chuckled Spider-Man, to himself as he put the tracer in his pocket and swung away. It was a brand new day, and Peter felt hopeful, except he couldn't swing properly thanks to his injured back.
"That Rhino guy was a bulldozer. I'm gonna have to hunt him down. Maybe I should change my name to Spider-Hunter?" Thought Spider-Man, as he dived and shot a web to a window of a building and catapulted himself forward in an awkward position so he didn't hurt his back.
"Oh crap! Today's Flash's party and I still haven't gotten a suit. Well, apart from my Spider-Suit. I should stop by a shop soon enough." Thought Spider-Man.
That's when his phone started buzzing. Harry was calling him. Peter swung high and let go of the web, quickly pulling out his phone with his right hand and swinging from his left.
"Hey Harry? What's up?" Asked Peter.
"What is that noise?" Asked Harry. The wind was speeding by Peter extremely fast.
"Oh, the bus window is open. My bad." Said Peter.
"Okay. Anyways, I'm going to Flash's party with MJ, and I have a spare tux with me."
"I was literally just thinking of buying a tux, dude! What are you, a telepath?" Joked Peter.
"Haha, I wish. I could be like that wheelchair guy the news was talking about a few months back. Anyways, you basically helped me score a date with MJ with those coupons for Coffee Cabin, so I decided, why not let you borrow the spare tux for tonight?" Suggested Harry.
"Oh Harry, really you don't have to!" Protested Peter.
"I know. I want to. Pick it up in the afternoon, I'll leave it with Bernard. See you there, Pete!" Said Harry, before cutting the call.
Peter pocketed his phone and continued swinging away. "Man, where would I be without these guys?" He happily said to himself.
Elsewhere, in a warehouse, Tombstone, Phineas and Mac were sitting next to a heavily sedated Alex O'Hern.
"That serum needs to last longer, Mason." Said Tombstone.
"Mr Lincoln, I'm a tinkerer, not a chemist. Besides, that serum was made from the base genome of a mutant, so it wouldn't last long on a human like Alex." Protested Phineas.
"Alright then, "Tinkerer". Mac, have you found a way to track Spider-Man?" Asked Tombstone.
"No not yet. Also, why do you care so much about the Spider? The Avengers are worse." Asked Mac.
"The Avengers couldn't care less about us. They're too busy fighting warlords and crazy aliens. Spider-Man and that Daredevil single-handedly took down Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin who ran crime in New York for years. Now, no one's seen the Devil in about 2 years now, which leaves Spider-Man as a potential wrench in our plans." Explained Tombstone, through his shark like teeth.
"Ummm…I, have an idea on how to…track Spider-Man." Said Tinkerer.
"How?" Asked Tombstone.
"Spider-Man's webs decompose in about an hour two, and there is still some residue on Rhino's armour. Now I know a little bit of Organic Chemistry, and if I could find out the chemicals used to manufacture the webbing, I might be able to track him." Suggested Tinkerer.
"Amazing. I want Spider-Man out of the picture by tonight." Said Tombstone.
Peter swung over to Harry's penthouse and knocked on the door. Harry's butler, Bernard opened the door.
"Mr Parker. Good to see you again! Here's the tuxedo that Harry wanted to give you." Said Bernard, handing him a bag, which had the tux folded in.
"Thanks, Bernard! Is Harry here?" Asked Peter.
"Oh, he went to get coffee with Ms Watson." Said Bernard.
"Alright, cool. Bye!" Said Peter, as he left and got in the elevator. All of a sudden, he remembered something he had to do.
"I need to head to Oscorp and get the parts for Doctor Octavius' project. Well, no time like the present." Thought Peter, as he decided to head to Oscorp. He dashed into an alleyway and changed into his suit and jumped up the wall of the building, swinging towards Oscorp.
"The new guy running Oscorp, Alistair Smythe seems like a cool guy. I hope he'll let Peter Parker borrow the parts. This project means a lot to Doc." Said Peter to himself. Eventually, he reached Oscorp and changed back into his civilian clothes.
"Man, I hate having to change all the time. I wish I had like a nanotech suit, like Iron Man! Eh, a guy can dream." Thought Peter, as he entered Oscorp and walked towards the receptionist.
"Hi, um I'm Peter Parker. I'm a friend of Harry Osborn's. I'm here to see Alistair Smythe." Said Peter.
"Do you have an appointment?" Asked the receptionist.
"Uh, no. But I'm here to collect some equipment for Project OCK-8, by Otto Octavius. Have you heard of him?" Asked Peter.
"Doesn't ring a bell. You'll have to arrange an appointment if you want to see Mr Smythe." Informed the receptionist. For some reason, Peter's Spider-Sense tingled.
"Who are you?" Asked Peter.
"Felicia. Felicia Hardy." Said the receptionist. Peter nodded and walked away.
"Okay…so walking in didn't work. I'm gonna need to be more…discreet." Thought Peter, as he walked back to the alleyway.
He swung up to the approximate 28th floor of Oscorp, where a vent was located.
"Voila! This vent should get me in the building." Thought Peter, as he crawled up the wall.
"Hope no one notices a 17 year old climbing up a building. That would raise a lot more questions than answers…" Muttered Peter, as he prayed no one saw him climb up and unscrew the vent. Peter crawled in, hoping no one could hear him.
The vent finally ended in the washroom, and Peter dropped down.
"Oh crap…I don't think I'm in the men's washroom. I should get out of here." Said Peter to himself, as he quickly scurried out.
"Okay, Smythe's office should be on the 52nd floor. Well, might as well take the elevator." Said Peter, as he walked past the employees who were rushing here and there. Peter got in the elevator, where there was someone else who he recognized.
It was the same doctor who had helped Peter when he had been ambushed by The Frightful Four a couple years back. Dr Michael Morbius.
"You're Dr Morbius, right?" Asked Peter. The man raised an eyebrow.
"Yes." He said.
"I've read your work on biochemistry and genetics. It's really impressive." Said Peter.
"Thank you. And you are?" Asked Michael.
"Oh, I'm Parker. Peter Parker." Said Peter, shaking Michael's hand.
Michael got off on the 48th floor, and Peter continued up to Alistair Smythe's office.
Peter approached the door, took a deep breath and knocked. A tall man, about 6 feet with jet black hair and a stubble opened the door. He was wearing a suit with an Oscorp badge.
"Can I help you?" Asked the man.
"Yeah, I'm Peter Parker. I need to ask for a favour." Said Peter.
"Well, you're not on my appointment list so I unfortunately cannot see you right now." Replied Alistair.
"Wait! I'm here for Doctor Otto Octavius." Said Peter. Alistair stopped in his tracks as he looked back at Peter.
"Come in." He said, Peter entered the new office, as Smythe walked back to his desk.
"That's a name I haven't heard in a while. I'm guessing you're here for the equipment of OCK-8?" Asked Alistair.
"Yeah. He's really enthusiastic of this project." Chuckled Peter.
"Well, I would be more than happy to give you what you need. I'm already working really hard trying to clean up Oscorp's name, after Norman Osborn tarnished it." Sighed Alistair.
"Speaking of which, what is Oscorp focusing on nowadays?" Asked Peter.
"I've decided to shift Oscorp's vision to robotics instead of genetics. You'll see, Parker. The future is coming." Said Alistair, as he wrote something down on a piece of paper.
"Give this to the receptionist. She'll tell you where to get what you need." Said Alistair, handing Peter the paper.
"Thank you, Mr Smythe." Said Peter.
"Please, call me Alistair." He chuckled.
Peter headed back down to Felicia Hardy, and handed the piece of paper. She looked at him, and chuckled to herself. "Slick."
She dialled a number and asked them to bring up the equipment.
"Nice moves, sneaking up there." Felicia winked at him, as Peter lightly blushed. Two guards brought a suitcase, which had a lot of fragile material packed in.
"Thank you." Said Peter, as he walked out of Oscorp. He called up Otto.
"Hey doc! I got the equipment we need." Said Peter.
"Amazing! I cannot wait to begin." Replied Otto, ecstatically.
"I'll see you tomorrow in school then." Said Peter.
"Perfect! This is going to be amazing." Said Otto, as he cut the call.
"Okay. The party is going to start soon, and Flash rented the hall in a country club. Well, this should be fun…" Thought Peter, to himself.
Meanwhile, in the warehouse, Tinkerer was perfecting a tracker.
"Okay! The chemicals in the webbing could be tracked and I've tracked down Spider-Man!" Exclaimed Tinkerer.
"Where is he?" Asked Mac.
"At the Baker Country Club. What's he doing there?" Asked Tinkerer.
"Doesn't matter. I'll call Tombstone. Wake up The Rhino, we've locked down Spider-Man." Chuckled Mac.
Tinkerer injected Rhino with the serum, and Rhino woke up instantly.
"Rhino! Head to the Baker Country Club, and kill Spider-Man!" Ordered Mac. Rhino grunted and charged out of the warehouse.
Tinkerer sighed. "Mac, do you think this is right?" He asked.
"What do you mean?" He asked.
"O'Hern doesn't even know what he is doing. This feels kinda…wrong." Said Tinkerer.
"Well, unless you want Tombstone's boot on your back, you'll do as he says." Said Mac, as he watched Rhino savagely run down the street.
Peter reached the country club, and it seemed like Flash had invited all of Midtown High. As Peter approached the gate, he saw Harry and MJ walking together, with another girl.
"Hey guys!" Said Peter, running up to them.
"Hey Pete, that's a nice tux! I wonder where you got it from?" Asked Harry, jokingly.
"Haha." Said Peter, sarcastically. "So who's this?" Gesturing at the girl with them. She was Asian with black hair.
"Peter, meet one of my childhood friends: Sha Shan Nguyen." Said MJ, as Sha Shan shook Peter's hand.
"It's great to meet you, Peter. MJ and Harry have told me a lot about you." She smiled.
"It's great to meet you, too. Oh! You have to meet Gwen Stacy, my girlfriend. She'll be here soon." Said Peter, looking around as the three of them entered the country club and walked towards Le Venin lounge.
The party had a lot of people from Midtown High, as Flash was holding a cup of Coca-Cola.
"Hey guys, great to see you!" Said Flash, but it was like he got paralyzed upon seeing Sha Shan Nguyen.
"Sha Shan Nguyen." Said Sha Shan, as he extended her hand.
Flash looked starstruck. "I'm Eugene. Err, Eugene Thompson." He sputtered. Peter and Harry tried their best to hold in their laughter, as MJ lightly giggled.
"It's good to see you, too." Chuckled Sha Shan, as he walked away with MJ and Harry, leaving Flash with Peter.
"Peter…did you know an angel was coming to this party?" Asked Flash, still staring at Sha Shan.
"Quit drooling, Flash." Joked Peter, as he nudged his arm. "Also, how are things with your dad?" He asked.
"You won't believe it!" Said Flash, explaining everything.
Peter was confused. "Hold up. A random guy asked your dad if he wants to be part of an experiment. Sounds a little shady, don't you think?" Asked Peter.
"Well, yeah. But I'm pretty sure he's okay." Said Flash.
Hobie Brown did a backflip off of a ledge, and everyone seemed to be distracted by that.
That's when Peter saw Gwen walk in, wearing her sparkling black dress. Compared to her, Peter's tux was like a hoodie.
"You look amazing…" Said Peter, as he walked to Gwen.
"You don't look so bad yourself." Chuckled Gwen, as she took Peter's hand and walked to the centre of the floor. A slow song started playing, as every couple started dancing together.
Harry and MJ were dancing near Liz and Hobie, while Peter and Gwen were right in the centre. Gwen rested her head on Peter's shoulder, as his hands were on her waist.
"You know, Peter. If I could live in one moment forever, it would be this one." She whispered.
"Likewise." Smiled Peter.
The moment seemed to last forever, as Peter saw Harry with MJ, Liz with Hobie and Flash trying to dance with Sha Shan Nguyen. He chuckled to himself, as he thought about what he had said to himself earlier in the morning.
"Where would I be without these guys…"
All of a sudden, the moment was interrupted. But not by the DJ's CD skipping. Instead, a huge man in a Rhino exoskeleton smashed through the wall.
"SPIDER-MAN!" Shouted Rhino, as he charged across the room. "WHERE ARE YOU?!"
"Spider-Man's here?"
"WHAT THE-?!"
"Spider-Man!"
Everyone ran in a frenzy, trying to avoid Rhino and his huge horn.
"WHAT THE FU-!" Before Hobie could get hit by the horn, Peter jumped on top of him and pushed him away.
"GO! GET OUT OF HERE!" Shouted Peter, as Hobie staggered towards the exit.
"Hey! Big, grey and ugly!" Shouted Peter, trying to get Rhino's attention. As Rhino attacked, Peter quickly ducked out of the way. He then slid in between Rhino's legs and towards the food table, grabbing a plate of pasta and hurling it at him to distract him further.
Rhino was enraged as he charged towards Peter. Thinking everyone was out of the room, Peter instinctively side-flipped out of the way and out of the window, to quickly change into his suit.
However, Gwen had been hiding behind a table in the room, and had noticed how Peter gracefully flipped out of the way.
As Rhino continued destroying the room, mindlessly trying to find Spider-Man, Spider-Man jumped through the ceiling and onto Rhino's back.
"Looking for little, old me?" Asked Spider-Man, webbing up Rhino's face so he couldn't see. He then slammed Rhino straight out of the lounge.o get
Rhino staggered out of the lounge and onto the golf course, as Peter tried to stay in control over Rhino's back. However, Rhino grabbed Spider-Man and slammed him straight on the ground, before knocking him across the course and sending him tumbling down the hill.
As Spider-Man tried to get up. Rhino mercilessly slammed into him again. The golf course and the swimming pool were separated by a wall. Rhino slammed both of them straight through the wall, and both fell into the pool.
"EVERYONE GET OUT OF HERE!" Shouted Spider-Man, as Rhino slammed his face against the pool's walls and threw Spider-Man out of the pool.
"I'm a ragdoll compared to this guy. Brute force won't work. I need to think my way out of this." Thought Peter. That's when Peter noticed the tennis courts nearby, with nets.
"Got it! Hey dimwit, come get me if you can!" Shouted Spider-Man, as Rhino chased him into the tennis court. Spider-Man flipped over to one side of the court.
"Wanna play a match? As long as you don't be a sore loser!" Shouted Spider-Man. Rhino rampaged towards him, however he tripped on the net, and landed straight on his face. Spider-Man jumped high up, and brought his fist straight down on Rhino's helmet, shattering the helmet and most probably a couple of Peter's knuckles.
"No way…Mr O'Hern!?" Shouted Spider-Man, as Rhino grabbed him and threw him across the court and into a lamppost.
"Oh no…the experiment! They did this to you!" Deduced Spider-Man, as Rhino charged towards him. Spider-Man jumped above Rhino and webbed the horn, before landing behind Rhino and pulling hard. The horn got pulled off of Rhino's suit.
"Mr O'Hern! This isn't you! Think about Flash!" Shouted Spider-Man, as Rhino charged towards him once again, though he didn't have his horn.
Spider-Man did a double cork and dodged him before webbing his feet. As Rhino fell, Spider-Man webbed up the rest of Rhino's body.
Rhino tried to struggle and break free of the webbing, but Spider-Man brought down two lampposts on Rhino's back, pinning him to the ground.
The serum seemed to be wearing off, as Rhino's feral grunts turned to the gasping of a weak man.
"Spider-Man?" Asked Alex, and saw Spider-Man's torn up costume. "Oh no! What happened?" Asked Alex, hyperventilating.
"Mr O'Hern, I need to know who did this to you. Do you remember who it was?" Asked Spider-Man.
"Mac. There was a guy called Mac and a huge, pale person with sharp teeth. His name, something like Gravestone…Tombstone! Yes, his name was Tombstone!" Said Alex, incoherently before falling unconscious.
"A man calling himself Tombstone made Alex O'Hern, The Rhino? I need a sample of Alex's blood." Thought Spider-Man. The whole club had been evacuated, so Spider-Man quickly swung towards the infirmary and took a syringe.
He headed back to the tennis courts, and injected the syringe into Alex's neck.
"I'll have to analyse this blood to find out what they did to Flash's father. I'm sorry, Alex." Said Peter, as he swung away.
Gwen quickly ran to her room, without even telling her mom if she was okay.
She slammed the door shut and locked it, before sitting on her bed and crying. She cried at the thought of the various secrets swirling around her. The thought of how her father died battling these super-criminals, and how Spider-Man faces these super-criminals every day.
She cried at the fact that Peter might be Spider-Man.
Wow, that was a fun chapter to write! I really enjoyed writing this so far, and Gwen may just find out that Peter is Spider-Man. Also, thanks to the hugeeeee influx of requests, I decided to introduce Sha Shan Nguyen as a love interest for Flash Thompson. Also, we just celebrated Independence Day a couple days back, despite the fact I spent the whole day studying for a Physics test that I gave today, lol.
Also, here's a fun fact: I improvised almost 85% of Season 1! Originally, the plan was to have a gang war between Kingpin and Hammerhead, and the villains were gonna be Scorpion, Electro, Scorcher, Shocker, Vulture and Molten Man. Daredevil was never supposed to make an appearance and neither was The Hand. I just sort of had an idea and went with it lol. Would you have preferred Season 1 with just Kingpin and Hammerhead, and the different villains instead of Daredevil and The Hand? Tell me what you think!
HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT: A crossover between The Invincible Spider-Man and The Invincible Doctor Strange is happening! Part 1 will be published here, while Part 2 will be published as Chapter 5 in The Invincible Doctor Strange. This is just so you don't get confused. Stay tuned!
So, I finally went to a friend's house after over 5 months, and we really enjoyed playing games like Cards Against Humanity, haha. I'm just hoping that school physically reopens by the end of September, as my birthday is coming in about a month. I spent the entire night making a "Happy Birthday" video for my best friend whose birthday was a couple days ago. Also, I'm applying for college soon! Time sure does fly, and I'm conflicted between taking Geography or Psychology as a subject, so I sorta need advice on that. Other than that, I replayed Marvel's Spider-Man for about the 12th time and I've started playing Ghost of Tsushima. It's really good and I highly recommend it. I also speedran all 4 Batman: Arkham games in under 24 hours. So, stay safe and stay alert guys!
Shawna1999: Thank you! I really had no idea that the chapter was gonna do so good, haha! I just wanted to make Rhino a kind of sympathetic villain.
Spidey: Without giving any spoilers, I have huge plans for Venom in the future, so having Flash become Agent Venom right now feels like a missed opportunity.
Guest and Guests: Like I said, I've planned everything up till Season 5, so mayyyyybe Agent Venom will be there in Season 6. So far, I'm really sorry to say but I have no plans for Flash to become Agent Venom.
Valt and Chamba1220: While I'm not doing Agent Venom right now, I decided to introduce Sha Shan Nguyen! I hope you like the way I've included her, she'll definitely have a bigger role in the future!
