Soon enough the weekend was over and the twins returned to their home. All they could think about when they got off the plane was seeing Renette. It felt strangely weird to not have her next to them now and they silently worried about her being alone in that empty house.
Walking to the car, Karou could tell that his brother was anxious to get back as Hikaru seemed to pull him through the airport and into their marked car. Karou knew that he would never admit this though.
The ride was too long for both of their liking as they pulled into the driveway and walked up the marble steps to the door. A light tap resulted in it opening quickly letting the lights pour onto their faces. "Well well well, look who's back. Welcome home boys."
Renette smiled at him as she crossed her arms jokingly. He couldn't deny that she missed their presence next to her.
The twins returned her smile and stepped into the house before plowing her over in a huge seemed to have missed her just as much. Karou spoke into her hair and muttered. "We missed you Renette."
Hikaru didn't speak but squeezed onto her waist tighter, sightly showing he was thinking the same as his brother.
She playfully pulled away from the embrace and slapped their arms in fake annoyance. "Aw come on. You were gone for three days, not a month."
Hikaru rubbed his arm from the slap but wouldn't look up from the floor, a sign he was getting embarrassed. "Still, Karou's right. Dubai was so boring without you."
Nodding her head once, she pointed her finger. "Well of course it was. You needed your master prankster there to liven up that boring reunion didn't you? Too bad I hate excessive heat."
Karou shifted his eyes over to his brother before replying. "You should've came with us. It would have made the weekend way more interesting."
Renette was silent for the moment, thinking about what she told Tamaki yesterday and then tried to brush it off. They didn't need to know her feelings. "Nah, I'm good. Like I told you, Dubai has sand and I'm not really a big fan."
Hikaru just responded by rubbing the top of her head, messing up her already styled hair and laughed. "We know, we know. So, I bet you were bored out of your mind without us huh?"
She grumbled in response, only really caring about her hair but then thought about his question. Debating whether to tell them about her meeting with the host king, she paused.
Renette thought about the words he told her that day, that he wanted some kind of friendship. It was ridiculous really. She didn't have friends and she never would. Why was that idiot oblivious to her unwanted aura?
The twins noticed her sudden silence and puzzled expression before frowning. They put a calming hand on her shoulder and whispered. "Renette, are you okay?"
That sentence snapped her out of her thoughts as she made her decision. "Ahh what? Nah, I just stayed in, did some studying so that secretary gets off my ass. You know, normal boring things."
They boys looked at each other in question but couldn't process her response as Renette swung herself onto each other their necks, a signature smirk now on her face. "Now boys, time to go. You see, I have an appointment today with my toy and I don't wanna be late."
Hikaru glanced towards the orange girl and smiled. "Oh? And what do you have planned today?"
Karou then wrapped his arm around her and laughed at her attitude. He watched her turn around and put her hands on her hips before winking. "Oh, it's gonna be good. Just you wait and see."
Slowly getting out of the car, Rentte was met with the usual stares and whispers she had come to know. That whole prank she pulled on those boys have have traveled around the school by now which was just the way she liked it. Now no one could bother her.
Plastering herself next to the boys, she strolled down the hallways and it seemed that the students would always sidestep to let them pass, It was great.
Suddenly, one voice rose against the crowd. His usual whining pitch carried across all the students as a familiar head of blonde hair skipped up to them in utter sickening joy. "Renette! Good morning, new best friend!"
Obviously. He couldn't read the unwanted atmosphere in the air as Hikaru and Kaoru turned to Renette in question who was seething with anger and embarrassment.
He ran up to meet them and smiled, causing everyone to have to avert their eyes. "Good morning my wonderful friends. How are all of you on this fine day?"
She could feel the students whispering about these events as she pretended not to care, outstretching her arms in the process. "Ahh here we go again. Why are you always so freaking loud in the morning Souh? I'm gonna install a mute button on you one of these days."
Then she flicked her hair to enhance the dramatic effect and sighed. "I have more important things to do then listen to your constant rambling. And stop calling me your friend. I never agreed to that."
Ignoring his constant shouts, Renette was able to turn the corner and get away. Once he was out of sight, she sighed once more and narrowed her eyes. Looks like he didn't get the hint that she didn't need him. No matter, she would make sure he did.
Hikaru and Karou turned the corner to find Renette laughing to herself in some sort of maniacal laughter. Whatever plan she had, they knew it was gonna be good.
Tamaki greeted all of his classmates like usual, a certain aroma of sunlight radiation off of him as he found his seat.
Kyoya put his hand up as a welcome and Tamaki draped across his desk dramatically. "Oh Kyoya! I can't wait to tell you about my weekend!"
His friend just responded by opening his notebooks and sighed. "And if I said I didn't care, would you stop telling me?"
The King just laughed and answered. "Nope! Right so, I went to the twins house and you know who I spend the day with? Renette! And she didn't act like a orange hair devil. In fact she was kinda cute."
Kyoya pushed his glasses up as the professor came in and replied plainly, not really meaning it. "Uh huh. Glad you have fun."
Nodding his head, Tamaki moved to sit at his desk when he suddenly fell onto the floor. Pieces of his desk fell next to him as small screws landed in his lap. Somehow, his desk had fallen apart.
The students all bursted out laughing and even Kyoya couldn't help but crack a smile as Tamaki stood up and turned to him. "Kyoya, did you do this?"
His friend just rolled his eyes and replied. "Of course not you idiot. I wouldn't be responsible for such a childish prank."
Tamaki searched his eyes but couldn't find any trace of a lie and scratched his head. "Then who?"
Far away from the class, Renette smiled as she gazed at the idiot king from her binoculars. Taking a small screwdriver out from her pocket her twirled it in her hands and laughed. "The fun has just begun."
Tamaki didn't know what was happening.
It seemed everywhere he turned. Some sort of prank was set up for him to fall into.
Running into the classroom, he found himself hitting against some saran wrap and falling to the floor. His locker appeared to be glued shut and there were even live ants in his food during lunch. It seemed someone had it out for him somehow.
Renette watched the scene with utter glee as the twins eyed her with caution. Somewhere in their stomachs, a heavy pit had appeared. It was unusual for her to be so focused on one person. It wasn't really like her.
Karou took in a breath of courage and asked. "Hey Renette? I love your pranks as much as the next person, but don't you think you're taking it a little too far?"
Hikaru nodded his head and agreed with his brother. He attitude was indeed strange. "Yeah, what did the boss ever do to you?"
She turned her body from the scene and smirked, smacking their shoulders playfully. "Aww come on. Don't tell me your getting too old for these? I'm just having a little fun. Is that so wrong?"
The boys grimaced as she turned back to her spot and laughed as she started to stroll to the host club. It was almost time to spring the trap.
Tamaki ran into the host club and shut the door aggressively. He was getting paranoid with all of these pranks today and wasn't sure when the next one would strike.
He turned to find Renette seated on his sofa, comfortably laying across the surface with her tea. She smiled at his arrival and put it down quietly. "Oh Hello Souh. Did you have a nice lunch?"
Thinking about the ants in his food, he shuttered and cried out. "Renette, you got to be careful. There is some kind of maniac going around and pranking the host club…."
Then he watched her face curve up into a smirk as he paused his sentence and connected the dots. "Renette, are you the one….?"
She then crossed her legs in an authoritative manner and laughed evilly. "Guilty. And oh man you should've seen your face all today. Getting all paranoid over nothing. Thanks for entertaining me, toy."
Tamaki's face grew dark and Renette braced herself for his anger, to tell her that he was done with her. This was it.
Suddenly, Tamaki didn't something Renette didn't calculate. He laughed.
I mean really laughed. Tears welled up in his eyes as his laugher carried through the host club, even catching that orange haired devil off guard.
His laughing fit ceased as he walked over and wrapped an arm around a shocked Renette in joy. "Ahh Renette, that was a good one! Was this customary in new friendships? I suddenly feel initiated. Thanks best friend!"
Renette twitched her eyes aggressively under his touch and grumbled. What the hell was his problem?! Usually this stunt would've had anyone screaming for the hills. Why was he still hanging off of her?! What was wrong with this boy!
Just then, Tamaki got an idea and exclaimed it to the host club excitedly. "Oh! I know what we can do to celebrate our friendship! Let's go to the beach!"
The King really wasn't kidding as in just a couple hours, somehow the whole group had moved to the beach. They also decided to bringing the guest along to make it seem like a school event as each of the member were dazzlings the ladies with their usual charm.
While the others were off pleasing the guests, Haruhi and Rentte sat on a beach blanket away from the sun and looked at the view.
In her head, Renette couldn't stop stewing about how her plan to get rid of that idiot had not worked. Her plans were usually flawless. It frustrated her.
Haruhi could sense the tension and tried to make conversation with her, not knowing the result she was gonna get. "Hey Renette. Do you not like the beach either?"
She just looked at her from her rose pink sunglasses and sighed heavily. "Yeah. I don't really do sand. Like, it's nice to look at in a book but once you're actually in it, all you feel is uncomfortable."
The commoner could understand in a way as she saw Renette look at Tamaki and wondered why she was so fascinated by him. Then she got her answer. "Haruhi. Say, what do you think Souh's weakness is? Like, how do I get him away from me?"
Haruhi just laughed at her question and answered jokingly. "I have no idea. But if you do find it. Please let me know."
Renette couldn't help but smile at the commor for her remark, knowing that they were kind of in the same boat.
Suddenly, the king appeared beside her, blocking the sun from her eyes. "Hey Renette! Why are you not out there swimming? I wanna see you in a swimsuit!"
She looked down at her yellow and orange sundress before waving him off. "Wow, that's perverted Souh. You think I'm that easy? You gotta work for it boy."
Tamaki blushed at her comment and stuttered. "That's not what I meant at all! Come on, let's go by the water."
He began pulling her to the water when she got horrible flashbacks. A sickening feeling washed over her as he playfully touched her sundress. It was too much.
She turned to him and shouted, loud enough for the entire beach to hear while pulling her dress back. "Don't touch me!"
Silence erupted the area as the twins gazed at her in sadness, knowing what caused her outburst.
She half expected Tamaki and up and leave her then but to her surprise, all he did was smile and turn to the other members of the club, not pushing it. "All right! Who wants to go swimming with me?"
All the ladies jumped at the chance and the noise once again returned like before. Almost like he had helped her.
This made Renette even more strangely angry. Why didn't he just leave when she yelled at him? Why did he have to make that stupid smiling face? She hated it.
Stomping away from the beach, she muttered something like "I'm going for a walk" and then left the group to wonder what had just happened.
Walking aimlessly for what seemed like forever Renette racked her brain, trying to figure out just how to get rid of that idiotic host king. Usually people would run away from her by know, why wasn't he?
She angrly groaned in frustration when she heard a commotion going on just a few feet above her. Glancing towards the sound she silently debated moving towards it but since she was bored, Renette decided to go.
The voices became clearer and clearer as the tree's cleared and she found two boys harassing some of her classmates. From the motion of their actions Renette quickly concluded that they were probably drunk. "Come on girls, let's have some fun"
One of the men moved forward and hugged the two females, squeezing them under his weight which caused Renette to narrow her eyes and be seen. "Oh boy, look at a couple winners we have here."
The two boys turned aggressively and the girls cried out for help. "Renette, help us!"!
Renette just smiled at the boys but quickly dropped it as the one closest to her moved closer. He scanned her body up and down with delight which made her feel a hot ball of rage in her throat. "Look, another one joined the party. And this one is even prettier."
She stood her ground and placed her hands on her hips in challenge. The first thing she needed was to get those girls away from them. Simple enough. "Normally I would take your compliment but I have a name you know. And honestly I'm getting a little jealous that you would rather with those girls then me."
Throwing another bottle away, the boys smiled a toothy grinned and nodded their heads drunkenly. "Fine fine. You don't need those other girls anyways. Go on."
His friend then removed his arms and moved back to let them pass. The girls didn't understand at first and tried to speak out. "But Renette, wait…"
But all Renette did was move closer to the boys and shifted her eyes towards the exit. "Now it's rude to interrupt. Off you go."
They stood there for a moment before hurrying off, leaving Renette alone with the two drunk boys.
Taking control of the situation, the one who last spoke to her sloppily threw his arms around her in an act of seduction as he tried to kiss her. "Now that we are alone, let's…."
Suddenly the boy stumbled backwards as he was punched hard in the stomach, Renette smirking at the action. "Yes, let's have some fun. And you are lucky I'm in a bad mood. Let's get this over with quickly, shall we?"
The boy not on the floor growled at Renette and raced forward, fists firing at her left and right. "How dare you do that to my friend!"
The orange haired girl just smiled as she dodged his actions but was surprised when a fist consolidated with her cheek causing her to grunt. It seemed the boy on the ground had gotten up. No matter.
Renette coughed out a spit of blood and soon enough was back in the fight, kicking and punching with absolute rage. Sharp flashbacks came whirling past as Renette tried to ignore them quickly, it was messing up her game.
She had managed to kick another boy to the ground when a voice stopped her in cold blood. "Renette!"
Without thinking, she turned to find Haruhi standing behind her, a look of fear in the corner of her eyes.
Renette just shouted back to her in anxiety, hoping she wouldn't get hurt. "Haruhi? What are you doing? Get out of here you idiot!"
Suddenly she felt a painful tug as she stumbled back into in cold rocks beneath her. She quickly realized it was stupid to turn her back on these boys. She underestimated them.
She grunted in pain as one of the boys pulled her hair forcefully, causing her to comply with his actions. "Forget this bitch. Just throw her overboard already. She's insane."
The friend listened and forced her to the edge before punching her in the stomach. This caused Renette to lose her footing and plumet backwards, off the cliff.
Watching the cliff get farther and farther in the vision she noticed a blurred figure moved towards her in immense speed. Whoever he was, he sounded panicked. "Renette!"
Tamaki walked out of the water with an unconscious Renette in his arms, all while holding her to his bare chest as they reached the shore.
Hikaru and Kaoru noticed their presence and raced forward in absolute fear. What on earth had happened?
As Tamaki moved closer, the twins ran up to her and shouted. "Rennette! Is she okay?!"
The king just nodded his head as she stirred underneath him, slightly embarrassed that she was being carried. "Did I accidentally land myself into a romantic comedy or what? Geez what's with all the serious faces?"
Everything didn't seem to enjoy her joke as Tamaki just whispered sharply. "Why did you provoke them? You could've just went and got us to help. Why did you try and face this alone?"
Renette turned her head away from his serious eyes and just laughed it off. "Oh come on Souh. I would have won that fight if Haruhi hadn't interrupted. I didn't need your help. Now let me down."
Souh listened and placed her on the ground before proceeding to shout at her. "But you could've gotten hurt! Do you know how worried all of us were about you?! Stop just thinking about yourself!"
She just rolled her eyes and placed her hand on her hips. "Worried? Yeah right, come on. I didn't ask for you to worry about me. I can handle myself Souh. I did it long before I met you and I will long after you leave."
Tamaki clicked his teeth in angry and shouted back. "Do you ever take anything seriously?!"
Laughing in response, Renette smirked. "No not really, can I go now?"
The King of the Host club just gasped at her brushed off response and his eyes dropped to the floor. "Fine. I'll see you at dinner."
Renette looked at his face and thought that she had finally done it. Maybe he got the point. "So I take it you don't want to be friends anymore?"
Tamaki froze in his steps at her question and looked at her like she was crazy."What? Of course I do. I just, need some time."
Then just like that, Tamaki and everyone expect the twins left her alone, the awkward silence building around them.
When everyone was gone, the twins rushed forward and hugged Renette with all of their strength, Karou speaking first. "Renette, are you really okay?"
She nodded her head slightly when Hikaru noticed something strange about her hands, they looked like they were shaking.
Hikaru grasped her hand to stop the shaking and raced forward in fear. "Hey, it's okay. Everything is okay now."
Renette just closed her eyes to hide a look of anxiety and Karou spoke for her. "Why don't you just tell Boss the truth?"
She just shook her head once and muttered quietly. "No. This is easier. I don't need him getting anymore attached than he is."
Karou looked at her with sad eyes and played with a strand of her hair. "Would that really be so bad? If you keep pushing people away then you won't have anyone left."
The other twin scoffed at his brothers comment and put his hands out. "Even if she doesn't, she still has us."
Karou shook his head once at his brothers childlike behavior. He knew he didn't like to share and had this strange protective nature with Renette but his words weren't helping. "Yeah but.."
But Hikaru wasn't having it, placing his hands behind his hand and started to walk away. "But nothing. There is nothing to talk about. Now I'm going back to the house. See you later?"
Renette just nodded her head once and watched him leave as well. The awkward silence returned as Karou put his hands in his pockets. "I mean it Renette. I know you don't trust easy but the boss, might be a good place to start. Now come on, let's have dinner."
She looked at his feet and sighed loudly before turning away from the house. "I"m not hungry. I'll just see you two later."
He smiled sadly and understood her need to be alone, leaving her with her own thoughts.
Tamaki walked through the halls of the house seething with frustration. After the altercation with Renette he didn't understand how she could be so calm about everything. Those boys couldv'e have done much worse. He shivered at the thought the tried to ignore it.
He paused when he heard someone talking from the other side of the wall. The voice sound less then happy about the voice on the other line and he couldn't help but listen in.
But as he leaned his head in, he realized the words being spoken were not in Japanese, but rather French.
"Ouais ouais je sais que le tournage a lieu demain, mais les jumeaux m'ont emmené loin lors de ce voyage à la plage et .."
(Yeah yeah I know the shoot is tomorrow but the twins dragged me away on this beach trip and..)
But the female voice was cut off and he heard a loud sigh. "Ouais, ben non, bien sûr que non. FIne, je serai là demain matin, d'accord? Tu n'as pas à me rappeler ça. Je sais déjà."
(Yeah, well no, of course not. FIne, I'll be there tomorrow morning, okay? You don't have to remind me about that. I already know.)
The next words sounded rather robotic as she seemed to recite them from a script. "
Oui, je sais que le test de la semaine dernière n'était pas dans le top des pourcentages. Je vais étudier plus, il n'est pas nécessaire de parler de revenir en arrière. Je comprends, d'accord? Au revoir Adele."
(Yes I know last weeks test wasn't in the top percent. I will study harder, there is no need to talk about moving back. I get it, okay? Bye Adele.)
The voices stopped and it was silent for a couple moments before Tamaki suddenly heard a loud crash from inside the room. It kind of sounded like glass breaking followed by a loud thud.
Moving faster, he knocked at the door but after a couple minutes he didn't even bother with the reply and stormed in, afraid a guest was hurt. "Hello? Are you okay? I heard a loud thud and I thought.."
Just then, Tamaki paused when he saw Renette standing in front of him, her shirt halfway over her head and the sour expression on her face.
She sharply turned and Tamaki half expected her to scream and push him out like any normal girl would do but she just remained still. "Pervert"
A large blush grew on his cheeks as he attempted to cover his eyes and walk out before hitting the wall next to the door instead. "Ahh! I'm so sorry Renette! I'll leave, I'm sorry!"
Rubbing the spot were his head hit he couldn't help but turn and see something concerning on her bare side. It looked like some kind of mark.
In half anxiety, Tamaki didn't think and instead raced forward to get a closer look. Renette wasn't aware of this and the impact cause her to loose footing a fall onto the bed.
Tamaki completely ignored the fact that he was now on top of her in a suggested position and looked at the mark, asking seriously. "Renette, what is this?"
She narrowed her eyes in confusion until she saw what he was looking at and panicked, kicking his chest away from her so she could cover it. "It's none of your business."
But Tamaki wasn't having any of her games. He was genuinely worried for her because if what he thought was right, then that mark was a cigarette burn. "I'm serious. Who did that to you?"
Quickly putting her shirt over her head she turned and tried to play it off like always. "Since when did you become Dr. Phill all of a sudden? And if you are gonna attack me, at least buy me dinner first."
He muttered in frustration and grabbed her arm in apprehension. "Stop that. Stop changing the subject. Come on Renette, we are friends. You can tell me."
At the word friends Renette balled her firsts in angry and let out all of the feelings she had tried to keep to herself these past couple days. "Why? Why do you still want to be friends with me? After everything I've done, why won't you just get the hint like everyone else?! Every time I try to do something to make you hate me, you just won't!"
Silence echoed in the room as Tamaki tried to connect the words she was saying and spoke slowly."Wait. So all of those pranks and everything was to get me to hate you? Come on Renette I could never do that."
She was at her wits end as she bitterly answered back. "Why not? You are my toy, I yell at you everyday and I even filled your food with ants. Any sensible person would have just walked away but you are too stupid to realize that I don't want to get hurt again!"
Renette knew she had misstepped as Tamaki's eyes widened in shock.
Tamaki on the other hand was frozen at her confession. Was this why she was trying to make him turn away from her. Her mind was so completely warped that she thought he was going to betray her. It was heartbreaking.
They took there for a couple moments before Tamaki's eyes softened and raced forward, pulling Rennette into a tight embrace.
She stiffened at his touch and awkwardly tried to laugh it off. "Uhh Souh? What are you doing?"
He just tightened his hold on her and spoke into her hair quitely. "I would never hurt you Renette. I'm sorry for yelling at you. I'm sorry for not understanding."
Renette's eyes widened as she took in his words but before she could feel any kind of emotion she tried to break free. "Let go of me Souh."
But Tamaki just shook his head and smiled into her shoulder. "Never. I will never let you go. So it's okay. It's okay to trust me."
She felt her heart hammer in her chest as his confession seeped through her.
Feeling her hands twitch at his touch, she slowly lifted them and accepted the hug. Her fingers lightly touching the back of his shirt for support.
Tamaki gasped at the feeling of the touch, not expecting her to return the action, but remained strong on his hold of her. They stood there for what felt like hours before Renette muttered something into his sleeve that he heard clear as day. "Thank you, Tamaki."
At the sound of his first name, a large blush reached into his cheeks and was thankful she couldn't see it.
That's when her weight suddenly got heavier and he lifted her head in concern. "Rennette? Are you…"
But he paused when he realized that she had fallen asleep on his chest. She must have been exhausted. Smiling softly, he lifted her up and placed her into the bed before tucking her into the covers.
He looked down at her and couldn't help moving a strand of hair away from her face. Thinking about the conversation he had overheard, Tamaki wondered about the mystery that was Renette Lightwood.
Who even was she? He realized he knew next to nothing about the girl except that her mom passed away and that maybe she wasn't she tough as she let on. Maybe she was just looking for someone to understand her.
He wasn't sure but he knew one thing, he couldn't just leave her alone.
The Host King turned to walk away but found he couldn't as Renette was grasping onto his arm. Looking at her, she just sloppy smiled as a small pool of drool dripped from her lips.
He pulled and pulled as hard as he couldn't but she wasn't budging. "Renette, come on."
His words only made her let out a little frustrated grunt and pull harder in her drunken sleep. Tamaki wasn't anticipating the action and in doing so, caused himself to lose his footing and fall onto the bed next to her.
Turning his head at her peaceful sleeping face he noticed she was not letting up and heard her mutter softly. "Mmmm don't leave me again."
Tamaki's heart broke at her words and stopped struggling, instead giving up. He watched the slow rise of her chest as he too was starting to feel a bit tired.
Karou found HIkaru leaning against the side of the wall outside of the dining room and walked over to his brother to meet him. "Hey, Hikaru. Are you mad about something?"
His brother just pulled his headphones off and shrugged his shoulders, brushing off the question. "Why would you say that?"
Then, just by watching his facial expressions, Karou understood. "You are still worried about Renette, aren't you?"
Hikaru looked away and rubbed the back of his head before giving a loud sigh. "It's just that, she always does these reckless things. I get that we also joke around but with her, I don't know, I just get anxious."
Nodding his head, Karou joined his brother next to the wall and answered. "I know, I feel the same. She doesn't know where the limit is. She still doesn't know how to trust."
Hikaru looked down to the ground like he was remembering something unpleasant and frowned. "But I guess that's understandable, after everything…"
Karou kicked his foot from the wall and knew where this conversation was going. "Hey you need to stop that. What happened was neither of our faults. We were just stupid kids and.."
But his brother cut him off angrily and answered back sharper. "No, you need to stop. You can deny it as many times as you want but you and I both know that we are to blame for this. That's why we are fixing it. Renette doesn't need anyone else to look after all because we will, okay? So don't go and say that she needs to make friends or anything like that. All she needs is us."
Karou took in HIkaru's words and knew deep down that his was deeply affected by what happened in the past. The fact is, neither of them had gotten over it but he knew this wasn't the correct path to take with her. She needed people in her life again, besides them.
Just then, Karou thought of something. It seemed like Renette was getting closer to Tamaki. Maybe this was the start of her opening up. "But what about the other host club members? What about the Boss? There is nothing wrong with trusting them."
Hikaru knew inside that he was right but his stubborn attitude came through. "She isn't ready for that kind of trust yet. We are the only ones she needs and that's that."
Kaoru tried to reason with him as he watched his brother place the headphones around his neck and turned to walk away. "Hikaru wait. Where are you going?"
But he just shrugged and placed his hands in his pockets, only pausing for a moment to reply. "I'm going to go check on Renette. You coming or what?"
Karou then knew he wasn't going to get anything out of him tonight so instead he just gave up for now, decided to follow him down the hallway toward their
friend.
They reached the door in about a minute and lingered for a moment before knocking three times on the door and awaited a response.
But the air remained silent as they tried one more time, the result still ending the same.
When Hikaru's hand graced the door again, it creaked open with a small push and they took that as their invitation to come inside. "Renette, are you still up?"
But what they came across was not something they had expected in a million years.
Laying there, they saw Renette and Tamaki sleeping soundly side by side. Each of their arms wrapped around each other. Renette's was on his arm and Tamaki's across her stomach in a respectful manner.
The twins blinked a few times in disbelief, Hikaru's hand curling into a hard fist at the sight before them. What the hell was she thinking?!
Karou noticed his brother's anger and tried to put a hand on his shoulder. "Hikaru, don't"
But of course he didn't listen as Hikaru moved forward and roughly shook Tamaki awake so he could explain himself.
His eyes sleepy opened as he found the twins standing over him in question. "Uhh boss? What happened?"
Tamaki looked at Karou and then back to Renette before realizing this looked bad. "Wait wait I wasn't doing anything. I was just trying to help and she wouldn't let go of my arm."
Hikaru just crossed his arms and tried to cover his anger with a joke. "Looks like the real pervert is you boss."
Placing his arms out in defence, The King cried out. "I wasn't doing anything freaky! She's the one that just latched onto me!"
As on cue, Renette muttered under breath. "Ugh stupid up Hikaru, you're too loud." while snuggling up to Tamaki's arm in response.
But after a couple seconds of realization, she opened the eyes and stared at Tamaki who was lying next to her. She had no idea how he had gotten there in the first place. "Souh? Wow, I thought I said you had to buy me dinner first."
Tamaki's blushed at her comment and pointed a finger in accusation at her "It's not my fault! I was just...and you were just...But I…."
Renette just smirked and placed a finger to his lips to stop the explanation, before winking. "Shh it's okay I get it."
But the King of the host club just became even more frazzled. "No, you don't get it! Listen, I didn't…"
Just ignoring his outbursts, Renette hopped out of bed and put a calming hand on Hikaru's shoulder. It seemed she could tell he was upset. "Come on boys, this isn't a soap opera. Now, can you all get out? I got places to go and people to see tomorrow. You know, fun stuff."
The twins looked apprehensive at first and until Renette narrowed her eyes and muttered. "It's Adele"
They then seemed to have gotten the hint as Karou playfully slapped the king on the back and smiled. "Well, I guess Renette is right. It's time to turn in for the night. Let's go you two."
Then he practically dragged the two out of that room and quickly shut the door behind them.
Hikaru didn't end up waiting for them but instead that left them alone. It seemed he was still bothered by the display earlier.
Once he was gone, Karou glaced at Tamaki who was looked at the floor puzzled about something. Then he lifted his head and asked. "Hey Karou, who is Adele? I overheard Renette talking about her on the phone and she also mentioned her just now. Is she…"
But Karou cut him off, just looked at the king in a serious manner. "Boss, can we trust you?"
He noticed the plural of "we" and just nodded his head once. "Of course."
Karou then sighed once before placing a hand on Tamaki's shoulder, almost like Renette had done and said. "Please, don't ever hurt her."
Then, just like that, Karou left the king alone to wander in his own thoughts, truly thinking about what he words actually meant.
Oh boy, this is a looooong one. But the beach episode is one of my favorite ones so I wanted to make it good. Here we have a bit more information on Renette and how she views people. I hope this makes a little more sense now and how she pushed everyone away after she became a host for a week. She just doesn't want to get hurt again. But I wonder, who hurt her first?
