There were many things that Kyoya knew about Renette Lightwood. He had studied all of the students of Ouran, as well as the host club members months before they had even come into contact with him, and she wasn't anything remarkable.

From his records, he recounted a partnership between the Hitachiin branch and the Lightwood families, lasting with a unbreakable friendship, that is until Annelise, Renette's mother passed away.

After that, the company seemed more closed off, private to only extremely close in vesters, and a couple years later their boost in sales skyrocketed over the perspective amount. It's what got their name back on the map.

Renette herself was a rather average girl who seemed to care more about playing around then in business, never attending social gatherings and opting to never take anything serious.

There were rumors of an incident at her old academy but he just chalked it up to her usual unpolished attitude and didn't think much of it. A suspension wasn't uncommon for people of her types.

There was really nothing special about her, enough for Kyoya to take notice.

But now, standing in front of him was that same person he had overlooked for months. The very head of the Lightwood group was right under his nose the whole time, and he never noticed. It was infuriating.

Both men stood stuck in shock at the young girl, wondering what this was all about. Kyoya's father spoke first, knowing this couldn't be real. "Is this some sort of joke from Adrien?"

Realizing he wasn't going to shake her hand, Renette put it down before answering sweetly. "Oh I assure you Mr. Ootori. This is no joke. I would never joke with a possible partner of mine. That would seem rather forward."

Kyoya noticed her change in tone almost immediately. She sounded nothing like she did at school. Here it seemed like she was polished, confident, and well trained. How cunning was this one girl?

Mr. Ootori frowned but Renette just rounded the corner of the table, taking a seat in one of the empty chairs, Adele following behind. "But, but you are just a child!"

Crossing her legs, she leaned forward. "Yes, I suppose that is a little unsettling, isn't it? I suppose I'll have to prove my worth then?"

Kyoya knew he wasn't supposed to speak but since the deal had already basically fallen through, his father would not have cared either way. "Where is Mr. Lightwood?"

Staring at her classmate, Renette showed no sign of distress. "My father has become rather private lately so he has entrusted the company to me."

Mr. Ootori stood from his seat in outrage at this display. There was no way a sensible man would let a kid in charge of a company. It would fail, without a doubt. "Your father has made a fool of both me, my son, and my company! I will only speak to Adrien."

Kyoya also stood and began to follow his father out. There was no way Renette was going to win this one. They had the same disadvantages, they were too young to be taken seriously.

But even as they were walking out, the boy still didn't see a distraught expression on her face. It was calm, calculating and confident in every way, even though she had no chips to play.

Calling back to the boys, Renette sighed dramatically so they would hear. "I suppose it's time to prove my worth."

They both stopped as Renette snapped her fingers twice and Adele handed her two folders with blue tabs sticking off the sides. She accepted them, before throwing the objects on the table. " I know the only reason you are interested in my father rather than me is the fact that his business prospects have been rather large in the past couple years, correct?"

Kyoya's father turned around just slightly at this. This was starting to sound like a challenge. He had to set this little girl straight. "Yes. I thought you're father would be beneficial to the company but if he really has let a child run it, it will only spell disaster in the end."

He expected her to be shaken by this, to be riddled with uncertainty. But she wasn't. Rennette only smiled, like she had won. "Admirable thinking, really, although it seems there was some misinformation on my part. You see, I haven't recently taken the title as head of the company…."

The boys were entranced, hanging on her every word to see what this girl would say next. It seemed to be something big.

Opening the first folder, they found the same exact information that his father had shown Kyoya before the meeting. It was filled with statisicatics, charts and estimates all around the Lightwood Group.

Renette pointed to one of the pictures and smiled. "You were impressed by the major uprising of sales in the last three years, that's what recieved your attention, right? In fact, that is most likely what is in your own briefing folder, to see if I'm a valuable asset to you or not."

Their eyes couldn't help but widened at the fact she had called them out for digging up information on her before the meeting.

Although she saw their shock and just waved it off. "Don't be so surprised, I made one for you as well.."

That also a slight shock but Renette wouldn't give them time to think.

Locking eyes with the man, she continued. "I took hold of the company three years ago so my father could focus on other affairs. So, all of those stats, numbers and sales you are so impressed with in your little files…"

She smiled just then, like she had kinged her final piece. "Those were all made possible by me."

Opening the other folder, they found documents stating the start of new policies and sales tactics, and they were signed by Renette Lightwood.

Both of the Ootari boys were stood in shock at this revelation, not knowing what to say. This little girl had become one of the top sellers in the fashion world, how? It was impossible. But yet, the evidence was there in front of him.

Renette let them have their silence for a moment before crossing her hands in front of her and speaking. "So, now do I have your attention?"

The next day, Kyoya walked into school with a thousand questions circling his mind, all of them related to Renette Lightwood.

When they arrived home, he got straight to work on researching her, finding anything new or burried that he had overlooked before. There had to be something. No one could take hold on an entire company without anyone noticing.

But unfortunately, all he found was the same old information that he had before. All the records stated that Renette was a model with a record, not the head of the Lightwood Group.

Turning the corner, he found the very person that had plagued his thoughts.

She looked about the same as she always did. Hair tied up in a messy ponytail with a careless attitude. But now, now Kyoya knew the truth. This girl was dangerous.

The Twins looped an arm around her shoulders, hanging off her rather closely and whining. "Renette, we missed you last night."

Hikaru nodded his head in agreement. "Yeah, did you have to spend all night at the library? I'm sure you've done enough to give it a rest."

Laughing softly, she paused when Kyoya and her met eyes, only for a moment. Then she snapped right back to the twins. "Sorry boys, but you know what they say, you can never be too careful."

That response sounded it like it had multiple meanings, most of them aimed at Kyoya who was just annoyed. She was challenging him again.

Students whispered filled the area and most of them were about the upcoming partnership with the Lightwood group. They were all eager and fearful to know just what this powerful team up was in the business world.

In a single moment, a male student made his way up to Renette who looked less than thrilled at his arrival. "Can I help you?"

He gulped but remained strong. "Renette, is it true that your father accepted the agreement to the partnership with the Ootori group? The whole school is talking about it."

Looking at him for a second, she sighed and crossed her arms behind her head in disinterested. "You think I know and or care what my father does? The only thing I care about is what they have on the menu today for lunch, so if you would excuse me…"

She turned around, the boy stuttering after her, when another student, a girl, approached Kyoya. "Is it true Kyoya?"

Looking down at the girl, he knew he couldn't have any much luxuries as Renette. He had to answer. "I suppose so, yes. I oversaw the meeting myself."

This created quite a buzz, more mummers filling the air. One student louder then the rest echoed through the crowd though. "What was Mr. Adrien Lightwood like?"

The question brought his eyes straight to Renette who had turned her back to stare at him. He could expose her right now but what good would that have done? He needed to find out more about her before that happened and decide if she could be of use to him.

Letting out a sigh, he answered. "He was a rather, interesting person."

Kyoya watched Renette and when he gave his response, her chest relaxed a little bit, almost like she was nervous. Then she just turned away like nothing had happened.

But one thing was for certain, he needed to find out more.

Kyoya followed Renette towards the lunchroom, but when he arrived at the doors, she was nowhere to be seen.

That is, until a voice called from behind him. "Looking for someone?"

He turned around and found Renette watching him smugly from the corner, leaning against the wall like she knew he'd be here.

She just nodded her head and pointed to balcony next to them. "Come on, I know you wanna talk."

Walking away from wandering eyes, they waited until there wasn't anyone around before, she put her hands up. "Alright, begin."

He had so many questions to ask, thinking of one was just far too difficult. "How?"

Looking out at the view before her, she sighed. "It's a long story, one you don't need to know. Let's just say that my father has had a lot to deal with so I asked him for piece of the company and he agreed. Then it just grew from that I guess."

This didn't ease the boys mind at all. "He just gave it to you? That's impossible."

Renette just shrugged her shoulders at this. "Believe me or not, I don't care. I'm just telling you the truth."

Her words made no sense. He had spent years to be in his father's good graces to even get a mere glimpse inside the company and yet this girl was able to control almost the entirety just by asking once? It was unfair.

Forgetting his question, Kyoya settled on a new one. "Alright then, if that is the truth, how is it that practically no one knows you are the head of the group?"

At this, she turned to him so they were facing each other. "I assume you looked in my records and found a certain incident in my past that involved a suspension?"

Nodding his head, Kyoya did remember that clearly.

When she got confirmation, Renette continued. "Right well, It would be bad for the company if someone like me was the face for it right now, ontop of being young that is. So, I take side modeling gigs here and there as a front so people don't ask questions and mostly work behind the scenes. Have been for three years."

Then she began laughing to herself. "But then, wasn't I surprised when I found you standing next to your father last night? I spend so many years trying to hide this from the twins and yet you are one who found me out. It's comical, really."

Leaning back on the bar, Kyoya stepped forward. "I understand why you don't want the public to know, but why the twins? You honestly can't believe that they wouldn't keep this underwraps?"

She stopped laughing then, know just looked rather solem, like there was something she wasn't telling him. "They'll just end up worrying again."

Kyoya didn't really understand but also knew he probably wasn't getting the full story also. She still seemed to be hiding something.

Thinking for a moment, it was time to ask the biggest question he had for her. He needed to decide which would be more beneficial for himself, throwing her away or helping her. "It was a rather bold move, telling me all of this. I could very well expose this to the latest tabloids and the partnership would be destroyed."

He looked for any signs for distress or terror, but found none. She looked the same as she did last night, like she had won the game. "Yes, you could, but you never would."

Kyoya raised a eyebrow at this. "And why is that?"

Stepping back into her feet, Renetter strolled up to the boy. "Because, I'm the head of one the biggest fashion properties as of now, which means, I'm your biggest piece."

She walked around him in circles like she was circling her prey, very slowly. "If you get rid of me then you are losing a big opportunity to get a head in the running to be head of the company. It would be nice to single handedly be responsible for one of the most important deals in your families history. You'd be praised thoroughly."

Renette stopped walking, her back now turned to him. "And, if you did decide to betray me, I'll just forget about this entire partnership thing. That wouldn't make daddy very happy, now wouldn't he?"

Kyoya's eyes widened at this. Did she just threatened him? "Are you blackmailing me?"

Turning back to him, she just shrugged. "Of course not. I'm just giving you options. I mean, the first would be beneficial to both of us but if you really wanted to go the hard way, I'm not gonna stop you."

Smiling slightly, she then lifted she hand out to him in a offer. "So, what do you say, partner?"

He looked down at her hands and weighted the options in his mind, although they weren't much. She had him backed into a corner with this one.

It was clear it him now. She wasn't just some naive, careless girl. No, standing here was instead someone that was head of a company.

Lifting his hand out, Kyoya shook hers carefully before speaking. "Alright. Only if, you make sure the deal falls favorably on me."

Renette just nodded her head and winked. "Already on it, partner."

Kyoya shook his hand off of her when a voice filled the entire space. "Renette, Kyoya! There you are! It's almost club time."

They turned to find Tamaki running after them in huff. Renette's eyes softened at this. "Please don't tell me you were running around the whole school"

Gasping for air, he nodded his head. "We can't start without you two. By the why, what were you two doing holding hands?"

Kyoya remembered the handshake and annoyingly brushed it off, moving away from the two of them. "It's nothing."

Turning his head in confusion, Tamaki watched as Renette stared at his back. That was certainly odd. "What were you two doing?"

She looked down for a moment before slapping him of the back and teasing. "What? Are you jealous Souh?"

He just huffed at this. "What? No. I just want you to be with someone respectable, and Kyoya is a little shifty."

Cracking a laugh a this, Renette smiled. "Shifty? Yeah I could see that."

She started waking away but Tamaki hurried up to her so they could walk side by side to the club room. "You know what I mean. I'm just saying that you are part of my precious family and I want you to marry someone more fitting."

At the phrase "previous family", Renette's face dropped and Tamaki thought he had said something wrong. Her mother did pass away and all.

But watching her expression, it didn't looked like she was sad, almost like she was overjoyed, yet trying to hide it under a blank expression.

Bringing a hand up, she rubbed to top of his head and laughed. "Don't worry Souh, the only one I'll ever wanna harass is you."

After the action, she ran past him, only for Tamaki to put his hand on the spot where she touched lightly, dumbfounded by the action. This didn't seemed like her usual harassment at all, there was something different about it.

Noticing he hadn't followed, Renette turned back towards him and smiled. "Come on slowpoke! They are gonna start without us."

Her smile wasn't like the ones they had shared before, as somehow those always felt rather halfhearted on her part. But this one, this one was definitely real. So much so, it left Tamaki speechless.

Hurrying up after her, he knew that whatever he had said made her really happy, and was thankful that he did.

A little short but here is Renette being a businesswoman. Everything will all fit together in the grand story, you just gotta wait. I have big plans.

Also how cute is Rentte and Tamaki when he called her precious family. Cause if you remember, her response to not going to family gatherings with Hikaru and Kaoru was always. "I'm not family Souh." But he thinks of her as one.
