Tamaki had just finished taking a shower when the thunder outside roared even louder than the last. This storm really was something tonight. He'd silently hoped Haruhi would be okay as she was afraid of such things.

The phone beside him pinged to life and the sign on a new message and the kind was curious to see who exactly it was. More times than not it turned out to be Kyoya.

Picking up the object, his eyes widened when the name danced across his screen. Renette Lightwood

This was certainly odd. He never expected the message to be from Renette. Of course he sent her a text every night as promised but he hardly ever got a message back.

A light feeling entered his chest knowing the notification was from her. He opened the email, eagerly excited to hear what she wanted.

But what he got wasn't what he had expected. There was only one line of dialogue and it sounded incredibly cryptic.

Hey, are you home?

Not knowing how to reply, he decided to give her the truth.

Yes. Why do you ask?

He waited for her to message back but it seemed she never did. That was until one of the maids entered his room, looking rather shaken. "Master Tamaki. There is someone here for you."

Tamaki took one look at his phone and hurried down the stairs. Something about this wasn't right, he just knew it.

Throwing open the door he gasped at the sight before him.

Renette was standing, drenched and soaked from the fallen rain. Who knows how long she had been out there?

Her appearance was also rather concerening. She wore a long maroon and beaded dress, although the ends where coated in mud and dirt, her feet bare. Strands of hair had fallen out of her hairstyle and where now loose clumps hanging from her face. She looked awful.

She seemed out of breath, like she had ran a mile just to get to his house and seeing that there was no car, he realized that may have been the case. "R-Renette?"

At his words she seemingly sprang back to life, staring into his eyes with emotions he had never seen her wear before. It was like a mix of devastation and sadness. "Tamaki…"

All at once, Renette ran forward, tackling him into an embrace and wrapping her arms around his frame tightly, afraid to let him go.

He was extremely frightened by this. This was not the Renette he knew. "What happened?"

But all she did she tightened her hold even more, muttering into his sleeve. "Just, stay like this, please."

Tamaki knew he couldn't disagree after that and instead accepted her hug, now noticing the small shake in her body, but whether it be from the rain or the shock he wasn't sure.

He knew he had to get her out of the cold though and brought her into the house, all while tracking mud in the entranceway. Even still, she still hadn't let go off him.

A couple maids came up and he spoke to them carefully. "Could you please bring her something to change into?"

They agreed and Tamaki lead her towards the fireplace to warm up her cold and shaking body. "Why were you standing in the rain?"

Yet again, she didn't answer his questions, instead staring at the fire as if recalling something. "I shouldn't be here. I don't know why I even came."

She turned to leave but Tamaki knew she was too unstable to be left alone. Something had happened to her definitely. "Please don't go. I don't mind, really."

Renette eyed him for a moment before giving in, choosing to sit on the floor and not the chair next to them. "You're too nice to me. I really don't know what to do with you.."

Looking concerned, Tamaki sat next to her on the floor, now seeing the mud and tiny scrapes on her feet as well. "I'm glad I can be of service, but what happened?"

She looked down at her hands and took in a shaky breath. "My past is catching up with me. But it's fine, it's over now."

Although it certainly didn't seem fine to him. She looked scared to death. But he stopped when Renette laughed slightly. "Why did I even come here? It's stupid, really."

But Tamaki didn't agree, placing his hand over hers lighty. "I don't think so."

Renette couldn't help but smile at that, choosing to lean her head on his shoulder. "I don't know why, but I feel calm when I'm with you, like I can trust you. I haven't had that in a long time ..."

Not knowing exactly what that meant, Tamaki spoke. "Renette..I…"

But he stopped when he heard the soft intake of her breath and realized she was sleeping. Poor girl must of been exhausted.

Suddenly, his phone started ringing off the hook and looked to see it was from Hikaru and Karou.

Being careful not to wake her, he picked it up only to hear Hikaru practically yelling in his ear. "Boss, boss listen. This is an emergency. Renette's missing, we can't find her anywhere! You need to come and…"

But Tamaki cut them off, glancing over to the girl to question. "Calm down, she's with me. I don't know what happened but I think she ran here…"

Yet this time, the host king was cut off by Hikaru. "We're on our way. Don't move."

Then the twins hung up the phone and Tamaki couldn't help but wonder just what had happened to Renette to make her act like this. She was usually so private and strong, not wanting anyone to see her scars but here, she just looked like a scared little kid.

It seemed the twins came faster then expected and when they got one look at Renette, they fell to their knees in relief. "Thank god. This girl will be the end of us"

Once they had relaxed, they got a closer look at her and frowned, Karou especially. "What happened to her?"

Although Tamaki just shook his head. "I don't know. She wouldn't tell me."

Hikaru crotched down to see her face and traced a couple lines in sadness. "Do you think she's reverting back?"

But Karou wasn't having it. "Of course not. You've seen how happy she's been. That's impossible."

Tamaki couldn't follow what they were saying in the slightest. "This has happened before?"

To which Hikaru answered. "Yeah, but she hasn't done this in a long time. Something must of really scared her. She did say she was going to a party tonight but..."

The twins shared an unspoken look and Hikaru moved to pick her up, placing his jacket over here. "Thank you Boss. Sorry you had to deal with this."

But the king didn't feel bothered by it. He was more concerned if anything. "Not at all. Will she be okay?"

To which the twins just sighed. "On the outside, she'll be fine by morning. But on the inside, who knows."

Then without another word, they carried her away from the Host King, a heavy feeling of dread now filling his stomach.

Hikaru placed her into the car, wiping a piece of hair from her face carefully. "I wish I knew what scared her…"

Nodding his head, Karou noticed the dirt on her and saddened. "I know, last time she was like this was when…"

But his brother just cut him off. "We don't talk about that. Besides, that's impossible anyways so there is no need to bring it up."

They froze when she groaned underneath them, bringing her brow into one of discomfort. This worried them even more. "Nightmares again? That hasn't happened in forever."

Karou reached down and grasped her hand lovely, willing the nightmares away. "Hikaru, I'm scared. She was doing so well."

He fully understood what his brother meant but knew he couldn't cave now. She needed them, more than ever. "It's alright, we will be here for her this time, regardless of what it is."

Karou just nodded his head and knew his twins was right. No matter what happened, they would protect her.

When Tamaki reached his locker, he was surprised to find Renette waiting for him, looking rather uncomfortable. "Hey, can we talk?"

He nodded his head, beginning to put his books away when she answered. "Listen, just forget what happened last night, okay? It was nothing."

But that whole scene yesterday felt the exact opposite of nothing, and he wasn't about to just brush it off. "Renette, that was not nothing."

Yet she only shook her head, slapping him on the shoulder in the process. "Seriously, what's up with you? Who knew the host king could be so serious? It was nothing, really. As you can see, I'm perfectly fine."

She twirled around for dramatic effect and smiled. "Tada! See? I'm one hundred percent!"

Although he wasn't fully sold, she did look better then last night and decided to let it go. If she didn't want to tell him what happened, then there was nothing he could do. "I suppose. See you at the Host Club?"

To which she just saulted. "Yes sir! I'll be there don't worry. It's not like I can miss anyways or else I'll have you stalking me back to my house."

He noticed she was more energetic than usual today, maybe a bit too much. It still seemed that she was hiding something.

But that would have to wait as Hikaru and Karou rounded the corner to pick her up. "See you Tamaki."

The twins eyed her with concern as well. Once she woke up in their bed she had made no move to tell them anything that had happened last night. She only laughed it off which was even more concerning. She had deflected everything they threw at her.

She noticed this and slapped them on the backs playfully. "What's with the long faces boys? Do I need to plan some more pranks for our toys?"

Once again she was avoiding the problem but it seemed useless to call it out now. So instead, they settled into their seats.

The teacher greeted them and spoke. "Now, before we start our lessons for the day. I would like to welcome a new student to our class. He just transferred here from France."

Renette's breath caught in her throat, trying to tell herself that what she was thinking of wasn't possible. It just couldn't be. She was overthinking things again.

But all that changed when the new student walked into the classroom, his feet clicking on the floor slowly, making sure to lock eyes with Renette. "Hello, my name is Julien Cartwright and I will be transferring into this class. Please take care of me."

All the girls in classes swooned at his presence and she supposed he was quite handsome. With his piercing blue eyes and blonde hair he looked like the perfect definition of a prince.

When they locked eyes though, a strong and intense hatred washed over her. She wanted nothing more than to go over to him and break his pretty little face all over again. Her body began to shake from her rage and it was so intense that the pencil she had been holding snapped right in half.

Rising from her seat to do just that, she held a strong hand pull her back down only to find Hikaru and Karou shaking their heads. They knew what she wanted but also knew it was the wrong choice.

When the class bell rang, she hurried and grabbed her things only to find him running towards her joyfully. "Renette! It's so wonderful to see you again!"

He embraced her, which made her whole body tense up as the students questioned his word choice. "Julien, you know Renette?"

Julien smiled widely, slapped her on the back rather hard. "Of course! We were classmates back in France, weren't we?"

His hand lingered on her back which made her hiss. "Get your hands off of me."

Noticing his mistake, Julien stepped back apologetically. "Oh, I'm sorry. Are you still upset about what happened because I totally forgive you for that. No need to worry."

Once again, his word choice brought curiosity towards the students. "What happened?"

He put his arms out in a shrug and winked towards them. "It was all a misunderstanding really. I couldn't return her feelings for me so she got upset and took a swing. I probably would have as well so I don't blame her for it."

Renette's back tensed up immediately, realizing he was just telling everyone everything. Well, of course he was.

Julien noticed her being uncomfortable and leaned in closer, whispering something into her ear quietly.

Hikaru and Karou watched as her eyes widened in absolute anger, reaching forward and grabbed his collar, practically lifting him off the ground. "You…"

But he just looked afraid and shaken. "Whoa, Renette it's okay. I didn't mean any harm by it."

She tightened her hold but stopped when the students around her muttered unpleasant comments about the situation. "Renette, let him go! He didn't do anything.."

Looking back to the students, she laughed to herself bitterly before letting Julien go, him falling to the floor.

Julien breathed out a sigh of relief and gasped. "Thank you. I didn't mean to offend you, I swear! I just want to be friends."

Renette looked down at the boy and just scoffed, stepping over him and out of the classroom, the twins following after her. "Stay out of my life."

When she turned the corner away from him, Renette leaned against the wall and gave a shaky breath. Every line across her face was one of anxiety.

The pieces clicked together from the information they had and Hikaru whispered. "Is that, the guy?"

She just nodded her head which brought a whole new type of rage in Hikaru's eyes, turning back towards the classroom. "Stay here, I'll take care of it."

But Renette ran in front of him stopping his wandering thoughts. "You can't. Listen, I"m not making the same mistake as last time, okay? We have to be smarter. Come on, you know I'm right."

Although he did indeed know, Hikaru hated the idea of going to school with such a monster. He could even imagine how hard it was for Renette.

Running a hand through her hair, she muttered. "Unbelievable. I thought last night would have been the end of it but no…"

This stopped the twins in their tracks. "Wait, that's where you were last night? Renette why didn't you tell us."

But she just shrugged, heading for the host club on her way. "Because I thought I wouldn't have to deal with this anymore. We need to stay level headed no matter what, okay? All we need to do is stay calm in class, that's all."

Karou couldn't help but laugh at this, remembering the spectacle in the classroom. "So, are you going to take your own advice?"

Although she did not find it funny. "Ha ha. I see what you did there. Good one."

Taking a breath, she knew she could do this. She only had to see him for class. She could manage that.

Opening the door to the host club, Renette threw her bag on top of the chairs, almost feeling relaxed when another voice entered her ears. "Renette, you're in this club too?!"

Her stomach dropped as she realized just who it is. "Are you stalking me Julien? Don't you have better things to do?"

Shaking his head as if not understanding, he replied. "What are you talking about? I'm just here to see what this whole Host Club thing is. It's rather interesting I think. Wait, are you a host Renette?"

Putting her hands out she scoffed. "Oh god no. And I suggest you leave."

Julien opened his mouth but wasn't able to speak as Tamaki came bursting in, rather unhappy about her tone. "Renette, how dare you talk to a valued customer like that? He came to experience the wonders of this club. Isn't it wonderful? I've been talked about across the country now."

Ignoring the first part of his sentence, Renette couldn't help but smile at his overblown nature as always. "Just when I thought you're ego couldn't get any bigger…"

To which Tamaki gasped dramatically. "I know right? Just when I thought my influence on this beautiful word could get any bigger."

Shaking her head she waved him off. "That's not what I said at all but okay, whatever makes you happy Tamaki."

Julien eyes this interaction with interest, noticing her calling him by his first name. "Hey Renette, are you two dating?"

Widening her eyes at the accusation, the tea cup she was drinking from fell out of her hands and broke at her feet. "What the hell did you just say?"

But the boy put his hands up in defence, almost afraid she was going to hit him again. "Oh, you aren't? Sorry I just thought you seemed like a couple."

Tamaki soaked in his words and couldn't help but blush, pulling Renette into an unwelcomed hug. "Did you hear that Renette? Does that mean that you've finally fallen for me?"

Trying to break away from him, she tried to hide her own blush. "Tamaki, stop with your delusional fantasies and get off of me!"

The interactions made Julien laugh happily. "I'm terribly sorry for being rude but you too seem really close. I'm jealous."

His words struck a chord with the Host King. "Jealous? Are you after my Renette, cause I wouldn't allow it!"

But Julien just shook his head. "Oh no, it's nothing like that. I only wish I accepted Renette's feelings when she confessed to me back in France."

Renette narrowed her eyes as Tamaki leaned forward with question. "Wait. You knew Renette back in France?"

Muttering darkly, she sighed. "Something like that, yeah."

This made Tamaki light up like a Chrirstmas tree, pushing Julien towards the sofa and pouring some tea. "How exciting! Now, tell us everything about Renette in France. She's such a stickler who won't tell us anything."

Leaning forward with interest, Julien laughed carefully. "Oh, alright then. Well, Renette's always been kind of quiet so I understand. I met her when she transferred in and offered to help her get accustomed to school life. That's all. We were friends."

Hunni picked up on that little phrase. "What do you mean?"

Sighing heavily, he glanced at Renette. "Unfortunately we had a bit of a falling out. As I said, she had a crush on me and I couldn't return her feelings. So much so that she got angry and released her anger on me. It's alright though, I was only out of school for about a month, so no time at all."

The story sounded very familiar to Tamaki, remembering that words that girl had told him during that random party with Renette? This was the boy that she beat up so badly he had to be in the hospital? He didn't seem evil at all. In fact, he was rather sweet.

Hunni pushed some cake other to him sadly. "Are you alright?"

Nodding his head happily, Julien smiled. "Ah yes, I'm alright. I only wish to be friends with Renette again, but I know that's probably never going to happen. Even still, I wish her the best."

Renette rolled her eyes which no one but the twins caught onto. That's when Tamaki spoke up. "Well, how would you like it if you joined the Host Club, Julien? Then you can mend your friendship with Renette!"

Julien leaped forward with joy, grasping the Host King hands in praise. "Oh, that would be wonderful. Thank you so much Souh! You are so generous"

But Rentte wasn't having it, instead standing and glaring at the boy. "If he joins the club, I'm quitting."

Everyone gasped in shock, Tamaki rising from his seat. "Renette, don't say that. You heard Julien. He only wants to make amends with you."

Rolling her eyes once more she replied. "Yeah I heard him, and I mean what I say. If he joins the host club, I quit. I will not be in the same room with him."

This made Tamaki even more shocked. "Are you serious? Come on, he's trying his best for you and you are just going to blow him off? I thought you were kinder than that."

His words stung her, so much so that she scoffed. "I guess you don't know what I am. I don't care what you say. Listen to my words, . . . ."

Feeling slightly annoyed by her words, he fired back. "I didn't know you would act like such a child because of this. I'm disappointed."

Once again, his words stung and this time she bit her lip to stop the harss words she had planned. He was treating her like a villain, like an unruly child and she was sick of it. Taking Julien's side just like that, even after everything they've been through. It hurt. "Fine. I'll make your decision right now. I quit. Enjoy your new host"

Everyone's eyes widened as she just turned around, grabbed her bag and walked out the door silently. She couldn't be serious. Renette was done with the host club?

Watching the altercation, Julien's head fell. "I'm so sorry. This is all my fault. Maybe I should just give up on being friends with her. I kinda knew it was too late anyways."

But Tamaki just shook his head, placing a hand on the boys shoulder. "No, it's not too late. She'll be back, I'm sure of it."

The twins looked between each other and turned for the doors as well, knowing that Renette couldn't be alone right now. "We'll go find her."

Nodding his head, the Host King went to grab another cup of tea when Julien smiled darkly. "Thank you Souh, You really are kind."

Okay okay okay so this is the first part where we find out about Renette. Julien is a huge part of why she is the way she is. Should be one more chapter and then backstory time. I'm really excited to write these chapters so they will be out rather quickly, like this one.
