A few months had gone by and Sakura had little time to go and meet up with her girlfriends. Her exams were coming up which meant most of the time was spent studying and preparing for the papers leaving little time for extra circular activities. The exams were going to start in a week and Hikaru had already studied everything now and now was taking a break.
The school had given a week off to the students to prepare for their exams which meant the usual bustle of activities was at a minimum but there still were some students mainly Naruto who were partying hard and completely disregarding the fact they had papers next week.
Hikaru lay in bed dressed in black sweats and a red baggy shirt. He just laid there amidst all his assignments and notes, lost in thought.
'I can't believe her, why did she suddenly decide that. She didn't even consider it important to tell me before, telling now. What difference does it make she might as well have not told me? Suddenly thinking, it's okay to come back waltzing into my life like that.' Hikaru thought.
"I can't believe her; this was an important decision and she just made it without asking me" Hikaru said out loud.
'I hate her sometime but it is it really fair considering I haven't even told her yet that I am attending KPA at least she told me, little late but still' Hikaru thought after a while.
"No, sak you cannot get double minded, if she finds out then all hell will break lose, this whole thing will be over… and if worse comes to worse you would have to move back with her, and that would be scary" Hikaru said to himself suddenly imagining the whole scenario.
'Deep breaths, you need to concentrate on your studies, exams, got to ace them' Hikaru thought taking deep breaths and calming his nerves
"Good, just relax" Hikaru said with a deep breath.
Knock Knock
"Who could that be?" Hikaru said while getting up to get the door.
"Hi Hikaru chan" Naruto greeted boisterously.
"Naruto, what are you doing here? Shouldn't you be doing something narutoish" Hikaru said clearly confused.
"Geez, you're so mean, can't a guy come to see his friend. I even brought you ramen, you're favorite." Naruto said with a pout.
"What do you want now naruto?" Hikaru said while allowing Naruto to enter the room.
"How did you know I want something?" Naruto said with a confused expression as he went and plopped down on the bed.
"Because you usually don't go 'Hi Hikaru chan' and you never say something like coming to see someone since you just barge in without bothering. So now what do you want?" Hikaru replied by way of explanation.
"Wow Hikaru chan you are so smart" Naruto said with enthusiasm. "You see Hikaru chan, the exams are coming and I need somebody to help me, so can you help with my studies…..So will you help me" Naruto said while grinning.
"Naruto, the last time I helped you study for a test, I wanted to jump out of a window so no I cannot and will not help you study for the exams. Ask the emo bastard that rooms with you." Hikaru said with a frown.
"But Hikaru chan, teme won't help me, you're my last hope" Naruto said while begging in front of Hikaru.
"No Naruto I will not, I already have too much on my plate and the last thing I need is you driving me to the edge of insanity." Hikaru said while rolling his eyes.
"But Hikaru chan, I can't fail, you have to help me" Naruto said with the puppy dog look in his eyes.
"Leave Naruto" Hikaru said while holding the door open for Naruto.
"Fine" Naruto said as he walked out the door like a kicked puppy. "But 'll be back". Hikaru closed the door and went back to studying when suddenly
Knock knock
"Who is it now?" Hikaru said feeling annoyed.
"Hikaru chan, you sure you don't want to help me?" Naruto asked while scratching his head.
"How many times do I have to say this, get emo bastard to help you." Hikaru said while slamming the door. Only for the door to be stopped by Naruto sticking his foot out.
"NARUTO!" Hikaru almost screamed.
"Well if you are not going to help me then I am taking my ramen back" Naruto yelled and stomped in to the room and grabbed the ramen he had brought earlier and left mumbling something about smart people not helping the needy.
Hikaru just watched the whole thing stunned by Naruto behavior and couldn't help but giggle suddenly 'Geez, he sure is full of surprises' Hikaru thought, and just closed the door.
He went back to his studies but after a while he couldn't concentrate on the words in front of him, they just kept blurring, so he just stopped, he started to feel the same dread he had been feeling for the past couple of months. He knew that the reason he couldn't concentrate on anything was the call he had received few months prior.
Flashback
RING RING RING
Suddenly the ringing of phone was heard. Hikaru brought out his phone to see who was calling him.
"Whose calling forehead?" Ino questioned obviously interested.
"Weird, it's my mom" Hikaru said with surprise.
"Really, your mom. That's new" Tenten said with disbelieve.
"You should answer that call Sakura chan." Hinata encouraged.
"Yeah, excuse me" Hikaru said while answering the call.
Hikaru got up from there and moved further away from his friends and received the call. "Hey mom" he answered while moving away.
Hikaru had walked further from the group and had greeted his mother.
"Sakura chan, how are you darling?" Mebuki Haruno greeted.
"Hey mom, I am fine" Sakura answered feeling confused.
"How are you doing baby, how's school?" Mebuki asked.
"Its fine, you okay. You haven't called in a while." Sakura inquired.
"I am fine dear, but you're not answering my questions." Mebuki replied.
"Sorry, school is fine it just started last week." Sakura answered.
"That's good to know, I hope everything is okay there." Mebuki said.
"Of course, everything is okay, why wouldn't it be. I am alone and you hardly ever come. You didn't even bother to come and visit me on my birthday this year. How long has it been since you last came?" Sakura said feeling angry.
"Hmm, Sakura you know I am busy I can't come and visit you whenever you feel like it." Mebuki said back getting angry as well.
"Well, then you really have no right to ask me if I am fine and how everything is here." Sakura bit back.
"Sakura, do not use that tone of voice with me" Mebuki hissed through the receiver.
"Why did you call, mom?" Sakura asked trying to control her anger.
"I just wanted to know how my girl is." Mebuki answered with a civilized tone.
"Well now you know" Sakura said, "There is nothing else to say then"
"Sakura wait" Mebuki said suddenly just as Sakura decided to end the call.
"What is it now?" Sakura said at the end of her patience.
"Honey, I am sorry I didn't want to upset you." Mebuki said almost sounding sorry.
"Fine, I really can't hate you mom" Sakura said in a quiet tone. "You're the only family I have left".
"I know baby, I am not mad." Mebuki said. "I actually wanted to tell you something. It's important." Mebuki added after a pause.
"What is it mom." Sakura said getting worried.
"You see honey, you know I am working as a secretary in this really big company." Mebuki said.
"Yeah, what about it?" Sakura said getting curious.
"Well honey, my boss is pretty handsome" Mebuki said in almost a girly tone.
"Where are you going with this mom?" Sakura said feeling that she is not going to like this at all.
"Well, my bossed asked me to marry him?" Mebuki said with a squeal.
"WHAT!" Sakura yelled.
"Actually, we already got married." Mebuki said with a slight giggle.
"You are kidding me" Sakura yelled while pulling on her hair.
"Aren't you happy baby? We got a new family now" Mebuki said in a happy tone.
"Mom, how could you do this, you already went and got married. You didn't bother to tell me this before." Sakura yelled into the receiver.
"Well you can see why I didn't tell you before see how you are reacting now." Mebuki said with a dejected tone.
"How am I acting, what did you except I would get all happy." Sakura said in an agitated tone.
"Baby, he is a nice man, he already has two sons and one daughter. You will love them" Mebuki said trying to pacify Sakura.
"I don't care how long have you been married?" Sakura said feeling hurt.
"It has been almost four months" Mebuki said with a nervous laugh.
"FOUR MONTHS! Now you are telling me." Sakura yelled.
"Honey just calm down" Mebuki said.
"CALM DOWN! How can I calm down" Sakura screamed getting madder by the second.
"Sakura, I know I am sorry I should have told you earlier but I was scared and I had to do it for myself I am sorry baby." Mebuki said with a sad tone.
"Mom, I'll talk you to you later. I need time." Sakura said trying to calm her down.
"Okay honey but talk to me. Let me know. I want you to meet your new extended family." Mebuki said quietly.
"I'll talk later but just don't call me until then." Sakura said as she ended the call.
Mebuki looked at her cell where Sakura had already ended the call, she felt disheartened to know that her only daughter was upset about this whole ordeal.
End of Flashback
Sakura just stared at the ceiling feeling sad.
'Maybe I was a little too harsh with my mom. But then it wasn't wrong I mean she didn't tell me, and she just thinks I will jump with joy knowing she got married' Hikaru thought.
"Ahh. This is so frustrating" Hikaru yelled while smothering his screams into his pillow.
Neji's POV
I had been sitting in my room trying to study but the words kept going out of my focus. I couldn't study her face kept coming into my mind. Her chocolate brown hair, her beautiful eyes, her tempting lips. It had been months since I realized that I was having feelings for one Tenten, she was Hikaru's friend, I didn't accept these feelings and just stayed in denial but now I have accepted these feelings. Now I want to know her, I just met her twice and I am going gaga already.
Neji just grabbed his face and sighed into his hands.
I started to hear something from Hikaru's room next door followed by a statement from Naruto. I wonder what happened.
'Maybe I should go ask Hikaru to give me Tenten's number but why would he give me. He will want to know; I can't tell him that I might have feelings for his friend' Neji thought feeling dejected.
"Oye, just go and ask him already, you're being to troublesome." Shikamaru drawled out from the bed.
"Shut up Shikamaru, nobody asked you anything" I said feeling frustrated.
"Troublesome" Shikamaru stated and just closed his eyes.
"Hn" I said.
I can't decide if I should ask Hikaru, what if she already has a boyfriend. I am being a wuss, got to man up and ask.
I made up my mind and decided to ask Hikaru for Tenten number, it will be better to get this done and over with. With that thought in mind I went out of my room and stood in front of Hikaru's dorm room.
'Here goes nothing' I thought as I knocked on the door.
Knock knock
"Who could that be now, better not be Naruto." Hikaru said while getting out of bed and answering the door.
"Hikaru, may I come in?" Neji said politely when Hikaru answered the door.
"Neji sure, come in" Hikaru said while opening the door to allow Neji in.
"I hope I have not disturbed you." Neji said while pointily looking at the books and notes scattered all over the room.
"No no, I was just thinking. What brought you here?" Hikaru asked.
"Well you see" Neji said.
'What do I do, how do I say it, I just can't blurt it out. I need an excuse' Neji thought while panicking.
"Neji you okay" Hikaru said confused, waving his hand in front of Neji's face.
"Sorry, I just wanted to ask you something" Neji quickly said while getting out of his thoughts.
"What is it then?" Hikaru said getting comfortable on the bed.
'Here I go' Neji thought.
"Does Tenten have a boyfriend?" Neji blurted out.
Hikaru just stared at Neji like if he was an alien. The room was quiet and Neji started to panic.
"No Neji, Tenten does not have a boyfriend" Hikaru said with a devious grin.
Hearing those words made Neji heart flutter and it felt like some huge burden was removed from his shoulders.
"But I am sure you can fill that role perfectly" Hikaru added with a grin.
" , I didn't mean like that, I just got curious and and…" Neji started blabbering nervously.
"It's okay, just calm down, you're starting to act like Hinata." Hikaru said with a smile.
"Sorry" Neji stated with a blush.
"Anyway, here is Tenten number, I am sure she will be delighted to hear from you" Hikaru said while writing Tenten number on a piece of paper and handing it to Neji.
"Thank you Hikaru, I really appreciate this" Neji said with a smile on his face.
"You're welcome, now go and get yourself a girl." Hikaru said while giving a friendly push to Neji.
"I will" Neji stated and left.
'This is the best day of my life' Neji thought while leaving.
'Ino is going to be so jealous, and Tenten just might faint. I am such a matchmaker' Hikaru thought happily as he closed the door.
Alone again and unable to study, Sakura decided that it was high time she had a talk with her mother.
Grabbing the phone Sakura dialed her mother's number, finally after three rings somebody picked up.
"Hello" Mebuki said.
"Hey mom!" Sakura replied.
"Sakura, honey you called." Mebuki said getting happy.
"I know, mom I would like to meet them all." Sakura said with a smile.
"Baby I am so happy" Mebuki gushed.
"Yeah mom, how about I come over and meet them all in during the holidays after my exams." Sakura said.
"I would love that; now do your best in the exams." Mebuki said with a smile.
"Thanks mom, also I want to tell you something, it's important." Sakura stated.
"Sure honey, we will talk when you are here." Mebuki replied.
"Okay, bye mom, see you soon" Sakura said.
"Goodbye honey" Mebuki said excited.
'Well that takes care of that, now let's just hope mom doesn't freak out on me, that would be bad' Sakura thought after disconnecting the call.
