He said clearly annoyed that he had to bring this up. "Why?" JJ asked in a betrayed voice. "Simple. She was holding you back. Everybody looks at her and sees a loser. Everybody sees you with her and sees a loser." JJ looked thoughtful. "Your right..."
"JJ no He-IT isn't right." "And your sister is holding you back too." The squip added with a smirk in her direction. "I can't optic nerve block her cause she is family. it would be up to you to ignore her." Jessie looked at the squip. "Your brainwashing him..." She said her voice trembling with anger and hatred. "I-I can't ignore her she's my-Ouch." JJ winced from a small amount of pain in his head. "JJ?" Jessie said reaching for him. "JJ its about making sacrifices. Jessica here is one of them."
"JJ don't listen to-" "Get out." JJ said his bangs shadowing his eyes. "JJ?" "I SAID GET OUT OF MY ROOM..loser." Jessie froze. Betrayal hitting her like a ton of stone bricks and her vision blurred. "That squip is messing with you. I'll just tell Mom and Dad and they'll-" "You'll do nothing of the sort. Unless you want them to find a pack of cannabis in your bed." JJ looked at her with glowing blue eyes. "Get the fuck out. I hate you."
Jessie froze before running out the room and out of the house. She sat on a bench and hugged her knees as she bursted into sobs. She knew it was the Squip talking but the fact that her brother chose her over a computer was very upsetting. "After all I did for him.." She said burying her face in her arms. "So Your brother was a dick to you?" A familiar voice said. She looked up to see Adam. "If you are here to offer me a squip you can forget it. Your brother tried." She said wiping tears from her eyes.
"No I just thought that you needed a friend..and a drink." She looked at the bottle in his hand. "Whats that?" She asked suspicious. "Its just a sprite. I know you love sprites." He said offering the bottle to her. She grabbed it and just held it as Adam sat down next to her. "It sucks when your own sibling betrays you. Bet you thought he didn't care about popularity." She sniffed and nodded. "I thought Molly and I were enough." She said. "everybody cares about popularity...Except for you and Molly..That's whats special about you." Adam said a slight blush on his face.
"I thought JJ would feel the same way." She said with a sigh. "Guess he is just a wolf in sheeps clothing." Jessie added while looking at her hands which were in tight fists on her knees. The sprite was on the bench next to her she didn't even remember putting it down. "He called me a loser and said that he hated me." She looked at Adam before chuckling a little. " Its funny. I'm talking to my brothers tormentor like he was an old friend." Adam chuckled. "It is funny." He put a hand on her shoulder. "Its okay though. I'm Heere for you." He added with a wink. She giggled a little with a small blush on her face. "I used to hate that pun."
He leaned towards her. "Guess you changed your mind about the puns..." She leaned towards him as well with her eyes half closed. "I guess I did." He lowered his Lips onto hers and she sank into the kiss. But they pulled away before it became a make out session. "Thatwasonlytocomfortyou." Adam said in a flustered voice. Jessie nodded wordlessly with her hand over her mouth. Did she just taste something minty?
"Any ways I have to go." Adam said standing up. "Good luck with your brother. Remember. you can fight fire with fire." He said before leaving her alone to ponder..and wonder what she swallowed while kissing him. She shrugged and grabbed her bottle of sprite and walked back into the house. "Mom hey." She said with a fake smile before heading up the stairs to her room. "Jessica." Christine said from the bottom of the stairs. Jessie turned around. "Yeah?" She asked.
"Your face is red and puffy and your cheeks are wet. Were you crying." She asked concerned. Jessie didn't know where the new tears came from but she simply put her drink on the top of the stairs and hugged her mother while crying. Christine hugged her back. "Shh its okay sweetie. Its okay..." She said gently patting the back of her head.
"You are my sunshine." She started leading Jessie to the couch with a hand on her shoulder. "My only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are grey." Jessie calmed down snuggled against Christine who stroked her messy brown hair with a gentle smile. "You'll never know dear how much I love you.""Please don't take my sunshine away.." Jessie finished with a shaky voice.
Christine smiled and let Jessie take over. "I'll always love you and make you happy." Jessie continued with a sad smile. "You are my sunshine. My only sunshine." Christine sang with a smile on her face while hugging Jessie. "You make me happy when skies are grey. You'll never know dear just how much I love you." Jessie joined in feeling a lot better. "Please don't take my sunshine away..." "Please don't take my sunshine away..." They finished together.
"So whats wrong." Christine asked after Jessie finally calmed down."I-Its nothing." Jessie lied remembering her brothers threat. She stood up. "It must be because I'm on my period." She added even though she wasn't. Christine looked like she didn't believe her but didn't press her for answers. Jessie walked into her room holding her sprite and setting it on her desk. She grabbed her phone and texted Molly. "Hey Molly. Do you know what a 'Squip is?'" She texted. She waited only for moment for Molly to respond.
"A squip? I think your auto correct is acting up again lol. What do you mean?" She responded. Jessie sighed and texted back. "No it isn't. Some idiot came to me offering what looked like a wintergreen tic tac calling it a squip." "And you believed them?" Was Molly's response. "No but that was until I saw something in my brothers room..." She pressed enter and laid back closing her eyes when her phone vibrated signalling that Molly texted back. "What was it? Was it him masturbating?" Jessie sighed knowing that Molly was probably laughing her ass off.
"No I'll tell you later okay? My Dad is gonna call soon and I miss him." After that text she turned her phone off and left her room. Her phone in her pocket. Christine smiled at her and she looked around. "Where is JJ?" Jessie asked almost forgetting that he was an asshole to her. Christine sighed. "He said he had a important thing to do whatever that means. guess its just you talking to your Dad.
Jessie nodded. Should she tell her Dad about the squip? She shook her head. Knowing Jeremy he would confront her brother about it and than he would do the cannabis thing. Maybe she should handle it herself... Her Dad's face appeared on the computer screen. "Hi Jess!" He said with a smile on his face. She smiled back "Hi Daddy how's work?" Jeremy chuckled. "Hectic. Apparently some kids at schools went insane for some reason saying that they need mountain dew red. Luckily we have plenty." He looked at her strangely. "Did anyone at your school do that? If so I can-" "No no nobody did as far as I am concerned." She said with a shrug. "Why? Whats wrong with them?" Jeremy looked at Jessie in silence as if contemplating a good answer.
"I don't know.." He said. Jessie narrowed her eyes. "Dad your lying." She said with a blank expression. Her Dad was a scientist for a big lab in another state. He decided that his work was too top secret to involve his family. So he left them behind in new Jersey only coming back when they allow him. "I need to go sweetie." He said turning around for a moment. "Tell JJ I said hi." She nodded. "I will. Love you Dad." She said. He smiled "I love you to.." The screen went dead.
She stood up. "I have to pick some stuff up from the store. Can you stay here alone?" Christine asked grabbing her purse. Jessie nodded with a small smile. "Sure I'm okay with it." she said with a shrug. Christine smiled and left her alone on the couch. Jessie sighed and stood up and walked back into her room and sat at her computer and put on a song called Spider webs by no doubt. She hummed along with the song with a smile knowing that now she was alone so she could have it as loud as she wants.
"And its all yoour fault. I screen my phone calls." She sang standing up dancing a little. "No matter who calls I gotta screen my phone calls." After the video was over she grabbed her sprite and took a sip. Her face scrunched up in confusion as she pulled the bottle away from her mouth and she looked at it. "What is this? Its not sprite." She frowned before walking downstairs and dumping the soft drink down the drain. "Honestly Adam that wasnt-' She felt a twinge in the back of her skull. "Ow! What the-" 'Target male inaccessible.' A robotic voice said in her head.
It didn't take long for her to put two and two together. The fact that Adam who usually ignores her was so nice to her,the sprite tasting weird. The twinge turned into a searing pain in her skull and she cried out in pain as she collapsed onto the ground. "Ow what the hell?!" She manage to whimper out before she cried out in more pain. 'Calibration in progress. Please excuse the Mild discomfort-' "MILD." She screeched out as she clutched her head. She could have sworn she heard someone mutter sorry from behind her. She turned around and saw a figure slowly taking shape.
'Calibration complete. Access procedure initiated.' She sighed and rubbed her eyes to see the figure better. 'Discomfort may increase.' And it did. "OH GOD I WANT TO DIE!" She screamed clutching her head. 'Accessing neural memory.' The voice said as her vision slowly turned into a teal color she could have sworn she saw circuits creeping down her arms. 'Accessing muscle memory...Access complete.' The voice turned a lot less robotic. "Jessica Heere Welcome to your new and improved Super quantum intel processor...Your squip." An unfamiliar voice said. She looked up to see a teenage boy with black hair that faded into a Teal color. He wore a trench coat white shirt and black pants. His eyes were somehow soft and were Teal. Jessie suddenly grabbed a knife. "Get out of my head squip!"
