The Invincible Spider-Man

Chapter 74- Into The Fire

"Peter! Come on!" exclaimed MJ, as he furiously knocked on the door. "The bus is almost here!" she continued.

"Give me a second! Just trying to find a shirt!" replied Peter, as he quickly webbed up a shirt from the cupboard and pulled it towards him, quickly putting it on over his suit and opening the door.

"You do know these Starkland buses take ages to arrive anyways?" asked Peter, but MJ rolled her eyes. She quickly handed him a ticket as she began to walk down the hallway. Peter quickly put on his shoes and caught up to her.

"So, any plans for New Year's?" he asked, as they walked past the empty common room. ESU had been much quieter since most students had left for their winter breaks.

"Eh, probably gonna attend one out of the 12 parties I've been invited to. You?" asked MJ.

"Please, I'd be lucky to get invited to even one," chuckled Peter.

"I'll take you to one, come on," suggested MJ, lightly punching his arm. "It's about time Peter Parker left his room," she continued.

"You have no idea," muttered Peter to himself, as they walked out of the campus grounds. The streets around it were still under construction after Venom's attack.

"Venom's still out there, I wonder who he could go after next…he's already tried attacking Carlie, and everyone at the Bugle. That leaves Aunt May, Harry and MJ. I doubt Harry is in danger since he just got home, which leaves MJ and May…" thought Peter, as he looked at the ticket in his hand.

"Should I really be doing this? May could be in trouble, but then so could MJ," thought Peter.

"You coming, tiger? The bus isn't gonna stop for you zoning out," exclaimed MJ from across the street, at the bus stop.

"Okay, I should stick with MJ for now. May will be at F.E.A.S.T, so if something does happen, the police scanner will pick it up," thought Peter, reassuring himself as he caught up with MJ.

The bus seemed old and rusty, almost like an old model of a Greyhound. The only think that differentiated it was a coat of paint and a Starkland logo. It chugged towards the bus stop and came to a halt, as the driver looked at the two of them.

MJ showed him the tickets as they boarded the bus, taking two seats on the right aisle. Around them were people of all ages. There seemed to be an older couple, and a family of four sitting behind them. The youngest kid was wearing a Spider-Man t shirt.

Peter chuckled to himself as MJ pulled out a map of the amusement park.

"Okay, so the first ride we need to go on is most definitely the Stark Industries VR Tour. Then maybe the Waspcoaster?" suggested MJ.

"Might as well call it Avengers Land. But yeah, I don't mind the Waspcoaster," replied Peter, as he pointed at another attraction. "You're kidding me, they have a Wolverine vs Zombies place too? He's not even an Avenger!" protested Peter.

"Are you jealous that there's not an "Amazing Peter Parker" ride there?" mocked MJ sarcastically.

"Oh, that would pull in the big bucks," replied Peter, as he accidentally held MJ's hand when holding the other side of the map.

"Oh, my bad," said Peter, as he pulled away and MJ lightly blushed.

"They really should add a Spider-Man ride, now that'd be awesome," said Peter, changing the subject.

"I doubt kids are going to want to be Tarzan on a ride," replied MJ jokingly.

"Come on, you know it's a million dollar idea waiting to happen! Or like a VR swinging ride, beats a tour of Stark Industries at least," said Peter, as he stared out of the window. Just then, his eyes darted towards the right corner of his eye. He could swear he saw something standing on a nearby roof, something large with white eyes.

"You're being paranoid. Eddie has no way of knowing where you're going," Peter told himself, as he looked back at MJ, who was analysing the map for the best place to take a selfie. Her red hair seemed to glow in the morning sunlight.

He quickly pulled out his phone and texted Aunt May.

Peter: Hey May, I'm off to Starkland with MJ! Hmu if there's anything you need!

May almost instantly replied.

Aunt May: What's "hmu?"

Peter lightly chuckled to himself.

Peter: Just lemme know if you need anything, ok?
Aunt May: Sure dear!

Peter closed his phone as his eyes began to feel heavy. He hadn't slept at all the previous night after defeating the Spider-Slayer.

"I'm gonna catch some sleep, wake me up when we get there," said Peter to MJ.

"How do you know I won't just leave you here in the bus?" replied MJ.

"I don't," sighed Peter, as he closed his eyes and almost instantly drifted off to sleep.

"Parkerrrr…" growled a voice, that Peter almost instantly recognized.

Peter turned around and he was back in the Black Suit.

"Oh God no…GET OFF!" shouted Peter, instantly, as he tried to tear off the suit with all of his strength. But it wouldn't budge, no matter how much Peter clawed at it.

"You'll never escape us!" growled Venom, as Peter turned around again, and found himself in an empty, pitch dark backdrop. The only person in front of him was Gwen Stacy.

All of a sudden, a tendril extended from his back, wrapping itself around Gwen.

"NO, STOP!" shouted Peter, as he tried to pull back his own arm. However, the tendril violently pulled Gwen towards him.

Peter blinked and found himself on top of the Washington Bridge, only this time he was holding Gwen by the throat, dangling her from the edge of the bridge.

"What's the difference if you jumped to save her, or if you threw her yourself? You killed her either way! You sealed her fate the minute you put on the mask, Parker!" hissed Venom's voice like a nail on a blackboard.

"No, please-"

But before Peter could finish, he crushed Gwen's throat and let her plummet down to the ground.

"NO!" he shouted, as he jumped off of the bridge and tried to grab her already lifeless body. Instead, Gwen and the ground both seemed to disappear, and Peter found himself falling down an endless void. It was so dark around him he couldn't tell if he was falling.

All he saw in front of him were two long, elongated eyes, and a row of jagged teeth.

"Embrace us…" screeched Venom, as Peter began to fall deeper and faster. His skin felt like it was peeling off, and he couldn't move a single muscle.

That's when he opened his eyes in paralyzed fear, and found his head on Mary Jane's shoulder, who had also fallen asleep during the bus ride. Peter quickly jerked his head straight as he took in his environment.

"Another nightmare…" he sighed, as the morning sunlight pierced through the bus window and warmed his pale, cold face. MJ slowly woke up too.

"Looks like you decided to wake me up," chuckled MJ, as she yawned and looked out of the window, seeing a large rollercoaster with a loop. "Oh look, we're here!"

The bus came to a stop as everyone got off the bus, but Peter was still a little rattled after his nightmare.

"You okay, tiger? You look like you've seen a ghost," remarked MJ, as she snapped her fingers in front of his eyes.

"Yeah, yeah I'm fine. Just a little sleepy," said Peter.

"Well let's wake you up by going on the largest rollercoaster in New York, shall we?" suggested MJ, as she grabbed his hand and practically dragged him to the rollercoaster.

"How about we go on smaller rides first?" suggested Peter.

"Oh wow, you're afraid of rollercoasters, aren't you?" asked MJ, laughing.

"What, no way! Well, maybe," said Peter, finding it ironic that he was actually afraid of rollercoasters.

"Alright then, we'll go on the kids rides first, and then ones that you hopefully won't pee your pants on," said MJ, as Peter sarcastically laughed.

Behind the two of them, near a concession stand, stood someone wearing a dark jacket.

"Let's attack him now!" said Eddie, as he began to move, however, Venom stopped him.

"Not yet! When will he not be able to defend himself, or her?" asked Venom, as Eddie looked at the top of the Avengers Rollercoaster, chuckling to himself.

After going on almost a total of 10 rides, it was almost afternoon.

"MJ, I'm not even joking, I'm really hungry right now," said Peter, but MJ seemed to be even more energetic.

"Come on, we still need to go on the Avengers Rollercoaster!" she protested. Peter sighed and chuckled to himself.

"Okay, how about you go first and let me know how it goes, while I try and stop my head from spinning by sitting down near that fountain," negotiated Peter, as he pointed at a bench near a fountain, close to the line.

"Deal!" said MJ, as she excitedly rushed to the line, which seemed relatively empty.

"I'm so excited, when was the last time you went on a rollercoaster?" asked MJ.

"As far as I can remember, once my dad and I went to Disneyland when I was 8, and we rode Space Mountain. The next was with Uncle Ben when I was 13," reminisced Peter.

"Wait your dad? Like your "dad" dad?" asked MJ.

"Yep, I didn't know him well enough, though," replied Peter, a little more sombre. Luckily the subject was changed once the line opened up.

MJ quickly took a seat in the middle of the car, as she pulled down the handlebars, while Peter walked up to the bench. Just as the car began to move, Peter looked to his left, and his heart instantly froze.

Eddie stared back at him from near the control room, a malicious smile on his face.

"Hey, stop the ride! Stop!" exclaimed Peter, but it was too late as the car began to move higher and higher. Peter rushed to the control room, but a massive crowd was blocking him.

Eddie moved inside control room that was behind the rollercoaster, as he grabbed the guard's neck and crushed it. He then noticed the stop button for the car, and he pulled it out.

"Ride or die," said Eddie, as the rollercoaster went for the first drop.

"WOOOOHOOOOOO!" shouted MJ at the top of her lungs, with her eyes closed. As soon as Peter got to the control room, Eddie seemed to have disappeared.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!" shouted a tourist, as Peter quickly whipped his head towards the crowd, which was running helter-skelter. In the middle of the crowd was Venom, staring at Peter.

Peter quickly rushed to the back of a concession stall, and came out as Spider-Man.

"Eddie, enough!" exclaimed Spider-Man, as he webbed up Venom's feet and swung towards the rollercoaster. The people on it weren't aware of the chaos ensuing below.

"Mary Jane!" exclaimed Spider-Man, as he landed on the car. But his words were drowned out by the sound of the people screaming in thrill.

"Spider-Man?!" exclaimed one of them who caught a glimpse of the red and blue figure. Peter quickly made his way to MJ's seat.

"Hang tight, Ms Watson!" he exclaimed, as he began to pull the handlebar off. However, a tendril wrapped itself around Peter's chest and pulled him off of the tracks. Peter shot out another web and landed on the bottom of the loop.

Venom landed in front of Peter, who shot a web at him and kicked him in the chest, before backflipping away. However, Venom grabbed his leg and slammed him onto the track.

Before Peter could do anything, Venom jumped off the track, and that's when Peter realized why. Before he knew it, the car slammed into him, sending him onto the loop with them.

Peter jumped off of the car and landed on the underside of the top of the loop, while Venom jumped back at him. Peter dodged his swipe, as he punched Venom across the face, who seemed to just take the punch.

Standing upside down was disorienting as the two of them kept trying to hit each and missed. That's when Peter webbed up Venom's face and grabbed the top of the loop, before swinging off of it and kicking Venom. He then climbed to the top of the loop and noticed the car.

"Need to stop it right now!" exclaimed Spider-Man, as he quickly swung onto it, and landed on the front of the car.

"Everybody hang on!" said Spider-Man, as he stuck his legs to the front of the car, before shooting two webs to two other poles that the car had just passed, as he began to try and decelerate the ride manually.

"We're not done yet!" growled Venom, who showed up behind the car and jumped behind the seat MJ was sitting in.

"MJ!" shouted Spider-Man, as he let go of the webs and lunged towards Venom. The car itself had slowed down but still showed no signs of stopping. Spider-Man jumped onto Venom's chest and began punching his face, as they both tumbled back onto the track.

Venom grabbed Spider-Man's face and slammed it onto his knee, before lifting him up. However, Spider-Man shot two webs on either side of the track, and pushed Venom down.

The track gave way halfway through as Venom fell to the ground.

"Oh crap, if the car comes to the gap I've created…" thought Peter, as he quickly swung back to the car. Pressing his feet onto the hood of the car, he shot two webs towards the ground and began to pull, trying to decelerate the vehicle going at breakneck speed.

"AAAAAAGHHHHH!" shouted Peter, as the car began to slow down. The gap seemed to be getting closer and closer.

"COME ON!" he grunted, as his legs began to dent the front of the car, and the webs began to strain and almost snap. However, Spider-Man was able to get the car to a screeching halt, just inches away from the gap.

"Oh man…" panted Peter, as he made a large web hammock between one of the stands of the rollercoaster track and another steel pole nearby. He then crawled over to the cars and pulled out the handlebars.

"Okay, everyone get on the hammock, it'll withstand your combined weight…" sighed Peter, still breathing heavily as he looked at a stunned MJ.

All of a sudden, Venom grabbed Peter's back and threw him off of the track.

Peter fell to the ground with a massive thud, as Venom lifted him up and threw him into the stands, breaking through the wood and steel. Peter quickly regained his footing as he dodged one of Venom's tendrils, shot a web at his arm and webbed it to the ground.

While Venom struggled to get his right arm off the ground, Spider-Man spin-kicked his face, before uppercutting him and jumping onto his back, punching him repeatedly.

"Eddie, fight it! Venom's corrupting you like he did me!" exclaimed Peter. However, Venom managed to get a hold of Spider-Man, as he slammed him into the ground, before bringing his foot down onto Peter's chest.

"You've managed to stop us from killing them! But what about the woman closest to you?" taunted Venom, as Peter's eyes went wide through his cracked lenses.

That's when a steel pipe hit Venom's back, causing him to go off foot. Behind him stood Mary Jane, holding the pipe in her hands.

Before Venom could attack again, Spider-Man shot two webs at his shoulders, as he pulled them down and kicked Venom away, getting back on his feet.

"Ms Watson, you need to leave!" said Peter, as Venom began to get up.

"No, I need to help! And a friend of mine is missing at the moment!" she protested.

"Peter Parker is safe, he's the one who called me. He'll explain everything later, now go!" ordered Spider-Man, as MJ hesitantly dropped the pipe and began to run the other way.

The stands holding up the rollercoaster began to crumble, as steel pipes flew everywhere.

"AAARGGHHHH!" growled Venom, as he grabbed the sides of his head. Spider-Man quickly rushed at him as the rollercoaster began coming down. He kicked Venom in the chest, before trying to rip the symbiote away. However, it seemed to have become a part of Eddie's skin.

"ENOUGH!" exclaimed Venom, as he grabbed Peter and threw him aside. Before Spider-Man could get up, the crumbling rollercoaster fell on top of him, trapping him in the rubble.

Venom hissed as he began to get away, leaving Peter trapped underneath everything.

"Misery, misery, misery. That's what you've chosen," said a familiar voice, as Peter opened his eyes and found himself in a pitch dark world, facing none other than Norman Osborn.

"This isn't real…" Peter told himself.

"It's real enough, Parker. Besides, real or not, it doesn't change the fact that you're a failure. Everyone who knows you suffers," said Norman, cackling.

"You're a burden on everyone's life, a cancerous tumour growing right under their noses. Everything you do leads to them suffering. No wonder your parents abandoned you, no wonder your uncle jumped in front of a bullet, no wonder Gwen jumped off of a bridge! You know, I bet she secretly wanted to throw herself off every day she spent with you," taunted Norman.

Peter let out a large scream in rage as he rushed at Norman, tackling him to the ground as he repeatedly punched his face over and over again, but to no avail.

"That's it! That's the real Peter Parker! The failure who always tries to make up for his mistakes, but just ends up making more!" laughed Norman, unfazed by Peter's punches.

"You known I'm right, not even deep down. Everyone around you will always suffer, and now your aunt is paying the ultimate price. The woman who practically raised you, dying for your sins!" continued Norman.

"I'm sorry…Gwen…I'm sorry," said Peter, as he closed his eyes and tears began to flow. He fell to his knees, and covered his face.

"I can't do this…" he said in a soft voice, and that's when he felt a hand on his shoulder. He looked up and saw Gwen.

"Peter, at this point you know what I would say. Blaming yourself isn't going to help anyone. In the end, it was my choice to be with you regardless of the mask you wore." she said, looking into his eyes.

"I loved you because of who you are under the mask," she said, her words echoing in Peter's head.

"And Peter Parker isn't Spider-Man. Spider-Man is Peter Parker," she continued, as Peter instinctively hugged her.

"I need you, Gwen," he sobbed, clutching her tighter.

"And I'll always be with you, Peter. Always," she said gently, as she pulled away. Peter stared into her eyes one last time.

"But you can't hold onto me for so long…" she said. Peter hesitated, but then nodded.

"I love you, Gwen Stacy. I always will..." he said through teary eyes, as he closed them once again.

Peter opened his eyes and found himself stuck underneath the rubble, as he coughed up dust. The rubble seemed to pin his back to the ground, and he could barely move his neck. He was running short on breath, and it felt like he was barely able to breathe.

"Aunt May…I can't let her be in danger…" he said to himself, as he closed his eyes again and took a deep breath, thinking about Gwen.

He placed both his palms on the rubble on top of him, lifting it ever so slightly that he could lightly raise his back. He then placed both his feet on the ground, and began to lift the tons of steel on top of him.

"AAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!" he yelled, as he managed to hold up all of it, standing on both his legs and straightening his back. He quickly pushed it up and rolled out of the way, freeing himself from the rubble.

Panting heavily, he limped towards the concession stand, where he had left his backpack. Rummaging through it, he quickly pulled out his phone, noticing 15 missed calls from Mary Jane. He quickly dialled her up.

"MJ! Listen to me, get May out of the house right now!" he exclaimed.

"Peter, are you okay?! Spider-Man said that you-"

"MJ, it's Eddie, Eddie Brock! He's Venom, and he's coming for Aunt May. Get her out of there as soon as you can!" pleaded Peter, as he began to run out of the theme park, adjusting his web shooters.

"Wait, Eddie?! Nevermind, I'll get her out of there!" said MJ, cutting the call. Peter pocketed his phone as he began to swing towards Queens.

Mary Jane rushed to Aunt May's house, which seemed okay by the time she reached. She quickly began to knock on the front door.

"Mrs Parker? Mrs Parker, are you there?" she asked worriedly, anxiety building up every second. Just then, the door opened, and May was standing in the front door.

"Oh hi, Mary Jane! Great to see you!" she said, with a smile on her face. "Is everything…alright?" she asked, her face lightly twisting into one of worry. MJ could sense something was wrong.

"Oh nothing much, there was an accident at the theme park, so I wanted to see if Peter is okay," lied MJ, but not completely, as she was praying that Peter was safe at May's house.

"Peter isn't here right now, dear. But maybe you could send him a message?" asked May, as she began to lightly scratch the woodwork on the side of the door.

"Tell him that I hope he's doing well at school! And of course his job at the Bugle. Also, Mr Li was looking for volunteers at F.E.A.S.T, maybe Peter could help out there?" continued May, as MJ noticed what she was scratching.

"H…E…L…P" read out in MJ in her head, and her face quickly moved to one of horror. She looked back at May, who had a completely worried expression on her face.

"I can't wait for Spider-Man. May's in serious danger," she thought.

"Oh by the way, can I come in? I think I left my purse here last time," she said, as she began to enter.

"No, no you don't need to! Peter can send it to you when he comes back," suggested May, but MJ walked in anyways.

As soon as she walked in, she was met with the barrel of a gun, and behind it was Eddie.

"Well, what do you know? Looks like we scored a two in one!" said Eddie, menacingly.

"Looks like you're not using your uglier side this time?" said MJ, trying her best to seem brave, while Eddie chuckled.

"Well, thought it'd be poetic if Peter lost his aunt the same way he lost his uncle. A gun, and his selfishness of course," said Eddie.

"My nephew is the most selfless person I know. You're a psychopath, and that's all you are," said May. Eddie began to laugh.

"You have no idea, Ms Parker. Everything that Peter did to me, he made me lose my job! My distinction! And the love of my life," said Eddie, gripping the gun even tighter as the symbiote began to ooze through his sleeves.

"You don't know what you're talking about," said MJ, as she began to slowly move near the kitchen counter.

"I could say the same for you. Believe me, you barely know the tip of the Peter Parker iceberg," replied Eddie. "Oh, and don't even think of trying to use any kitchen appliance as a weapon," he added, smiling slyly at Mary Jane.

He oscillated the gun between the two of them, as if deciding which one to shoot first as he chuckled to himself.

"Alright, screw it. Let's kill the old woman," said Eddie, aiming the gun at her.

"Wait! Can I at least say goodbye to Peter once?" she asked. Eddie rolled his eyes.

"Fine, I'm not completely unreasonable," he joked, as May reached for her purse to get her phone.

All of a sudden, she pulled out a can of pepper spray and sprayed it directly into Eddie's eyes.

"AAGH!" he exclaimed as he began to blindly shoot. May quickly ducked behind a couch, while Mary Jane grabbed a pan from the stove and slammed it across Eddie's face, before pushing the gun out of his hand.

Before MJ could reach for the gun, Eddie grabbed her with superhuman strength and threw her towards the wall.

"Alright enough of the drama. Let's just do this the old-fashioned way," he said as his voice get raspier, and the symbiote began to take over. May used the opportunity to rush out of the living room.

However, one of Venom's tendrils wrapped around her leg and tripped her, and began to pull her towards him.

"NO!" shouted a voice, as an already battle-damaged Spider-Man came crashing through the living room window, kicking Venom and sending him flying towards the wall.

"Are you okay, ma'am?" asked Spider-Man, to a dishevelled May.

"Yes, I'm okay. Is Peter-"

"He's okay. He's a strong kid," added Spider-Man, smiling to himself. Before Venom could get up, MJ grabbed another pan, but accidentally hit it against other silverware.

"AAGH!" growled Venom, as a lightbulb began to go off in Peter's head.

"The metal stands on the rollercoaster…the pots and pans…and the lightning strike? Sound and fire!" he exclaimed, as he quickly rushed towards MJ, kicking away at Venom's arm before it could hit MJ.

"Ms Watson, get Ms Parker out of here!" exclaimed Spider-Man, as MJ nodded and headed back towards May, while Peter faced down Venom.

"You dare threaten her, in her own house!" exclaimed an enraged Spider-Man, who delivered a right hook to Venom's face, before ducking and double kicking his chest. Venom grabbed Spider-Man by the chest and slammed him into the wall.

"We're going to make sure that you die, slowly and painfully!" growled Venom, louder than ever. Spider-Man switched to taser webs, as he aimed it at the electric whisker nearby.

He quickly pulled the supercharged whisker and shoved it into Venom's face, causing him to let go and stagger back. Before anything else could happen, Peter took two pans and slammed them together.

Venom fell to his knees, as he began to growl even louder. Peter continued banging them together, as Venom slammed him through the walls of the house, causing Peter to land in the backyard.

"How about we save everyone the trouble by burying you already?" hissed Venom, pushing Peter into the ground, as the two of them heard sirens. Venom seemed to be getting flustered by the sirens, as he threw Peter into a tree and jumped to the back of the house.

Venom grabbed a car and threw it aside, as Peter painfully crawled to the roof, remembering something.

"Miles said I die fighting a big monster at my childhood home…cop cars get thrown into trees…oh God," he thought, as he realized what was going to happen.

"If I…I can't…" he told himself, more worried than ever as he saw Venom grab the guns of the police and throw them aside, before throwing another cop car into a tree. Venom then began to move towards May and MJ.

"NO…whatever happens, I can't let them get hurt," said Peter, as he jumped from the roof and directly onto Venom's back, punching him on the back of his head.

Venom grabbed him and slammed him into the ground, before throwing him back into the house, which had caught fire.

Spider-Man shot a web at Venom's back and pulled himself out of the fire, as he punched him across the face, webbed his chest and kicked him away, before webbing up Venom's claws and spin kicking him.

However, Venom extended two tendrils as he slammed Peter onto the ground twice, before throwing him directly into another tree. Before Spider-Man could get up, Venom punched him down and lifted him up, slamming him back onto the ground.

Spider-Man began to slowly crawl away, towards May and MJ, barely any strength left in him as Venom brought his foot down on his back. Spider-Man yelled in pain as Venom slammed his head back into the ground twice.

"How does it feel to fail, yet again? When are you going to learn that you don't save anyone?" asked Venom.

"I couldn't save Uncle Ben…I couldn't save George, or Spot, or Jean, or Gwen…but at least I can save her…" thought Spider-Man. As Venom began to walk towards the two of them, Spider-Man got back onto his feet and webbed Venom's back, before jumping onto it again.

This time, however, Peter webbed up Venom's face from the back, as he steered him straight towards the fiery house.

"I can still save her," thought Peter, weakly, as his vision began to blur. Venom could feel the heat radiating through the fire.

"NOO!" he growled out, but Peter rammed the two of them straight into the fire.

"I'm sorry, Eddie," said Peter, as Venom thrashed around in hopes of breaking free.

For a few seconds there was nothing, as onlookers stared at the house in terror. May and MJ both were equally worried, praying to God that Spider-Man had defeated Venom.

That's when there was a massive explosion, as Spider-Man was sent flying out of the house, tumbling out onto the street. Venom was nowhere to be seen, and Spider-Man lay motionless in the middle of the street.

"Spider-Man!" exclaimed MJ, as she rushed towards him. His suit was half torn, and his mask covered only the top of his face. Both lenses were cracked, and by the looks of it, he wasn't breathing.

"No, no!" exclaimed May, as she rushed to her side. A few onlookers also gathered around, as one of them tried to take off his mask. May slapped their hand away.

"He's not with us anymore, there's no point," protested the onlooker.

"That doesn't mean you have the right to know who he is, none of us do," replied MJ, as she tried to wake up Spider-Man, to no avail.

May held her ear to his chest, only to hear no heartbeat, as she looked back at MJ, her face reflecting one of sorrow. The crowd around them all knelt down beside Spider-Man. Two people held his hand as tears began to flow down their eyes.

"Everyone get back! Oh no..." said Yuri, as the police finally arrived at the scene, only to see why everyone had gathered around.

"Oh Jesus," said detective Macendale, as Yuri stood in shock. What was once a chaotic street just minutes ago seemed to have gone completely quiet, as if everyone around was in mourning.

"This can't be happening," said another one of the onlookers as they tried to hold back tears.

Peter found himself standing in a completely white place, this time not even a hint of blackness. Disoriented, he began to look around for anything familiar, and that's when he noticed someone, wearing a brown coat.

Peter instantly knew who it was, as he rushed towards Uncle Ben, hugging him tightly.

"I've missed you, Uncle Ben. I'm so so sorry," said Peter, lightly sobbing.

"I've missed you too, son. We all have," replied Ben.

"I can't believe this...I didn't save you, but I saved her," said Peter, his voice breaking as he buried himself deeper into his uncle's arms.

"You did good kid. You did good," he continued.

Peter was content, as he pulled away from Ben.

"But it's not your time yet. And I think you know that," said Ben. With a half disappointed look, Peter nodded.

"I can't just leave them behind, they still need me," replied Peter. Ben smiled at him proudly. "As much as I wish I could be with you, and Gwen, and all the others...I can't. I'm so sorry," said Peter.

"I'm proud of you, Peter. My Invincible Spider-Man," chuckled Ben, as he began to fade away. Peter smiled back.

Peter slowly opened his eyes, looking around at everyone, but focusing on May and MJ, who breathed a sigh of relief.

"Ms Parker, Ms Watson? Are you all right?" asked Peter hurriedly, as he painfully got to his feet. Many civilians helped him to stand up.

"We're okay. Thank you, Spider-Man," said May, as Peter walked up to the house. That's when he noticed something, or someone, crawling out of the fire.

A half-burned Eddie Brock slowly crawled out.

"H-Help…" he grunted, as he stumbled out of the burning porch.

"Eddie! Oh my God," said Spider-Man, as he quickly got him away from the fire. That's when Eddie looked back at him and smiled, his fangs clearly visible, as the symbiote began to flow across his arms again.

"Oh no," said Peter. But before Eddie could do anything, a massive taser hit him, as he fell onto the ground.

Peter turned around and saw a group of agents rush to the scene, holding what looked like massive taser guns. Peter instantly recognized the logo on their chests and sleeves.

"Spider-Man!" said a voice. Peter turned around, and saw a taller man with an eyepatch walk up to him.

"Nick Fury, Director of S.H.I.E.L.D," he said, extending a handshake, which Peter returned. He turned around and saw an unconscious Eddie being enclosed in what looked like a massive tube and be taken away.

"I'm guessing you'll be taking charge of Venom now?" asked Peter.

"We'll be sending him to out testing facilities. Eddie Brock however, will spend his time at the Ravencroft Institute for the Criminally Insane. I must commend you on your work today too," said Fury.

"Showing up a couple of minutes ago wouldn't have been so bad either," replied Peter, smiling to himself.

"You looked like you had things under control," said Fury, as he noticed Spider-Man looking at May and MJ, who were being looked at by the trauma team.

"I'll let you catch up, Mr Parker," said Fury, as Peter looked back at him with a surprised expression, before sighing to himself.

"Right. Director of S.H.I.E.L.D," he told himself, as he quickly swung away to a nearby alleyway. Before he could do that, however, he was stopped by Yuri.

"Thank you, Spider-Man. From all of us, you gave us quite the scare," she said, as Spider-Man lightlyh chuckled.

"What can I say, you can't get rid of this bug that easy," he joked, as he rushed towards the alleyway, away from the crowd.

Minutes later, Peter limped up to May and Mary Jane, who seemed to breathe a sigh of relief, as MJ rushed up to him and hugged him tightly.

"Thank God you're alright! Where've you been?" she asked, as she tried to wipe away a couple cuts on his cheek.

"When Eddie attacked, I went to call Spider-Man, but then Eddie attacked me," explained Spider-Man. "Looks like Spider-Man dealt with him?" he continued, as he noticed Aunt May and smiled, starting to walk up to her.

"Are you okay? He asked, his voice faltering as he hugged May.

"Yeah, I'm okay. Thanks for calling Spider-Man, Peter," she said. Peter pulled away and looked at the burning house, which was now being extinguished by firefighters.

"So what now? Everything's gone," said Peter, thinking of all the days he spent there.

"I could stay with Anna for a while. Besides the house isn't completely gone, I hope," replied May.

"Well as long as you're all right, I don't mind anything," said Peter, as he put his arm around May.

ONE WEEK LATER

"Happy New Year, New Yorkers! Yet another year has passed of us tolerating the obscene actions of Spider-Man! Though I have to thank him this time for actually saving my staff members for once, it doesn't excuse him for the heinous things he has done the last few years!" said Jameson, on his new podcast.

"Jameson's never gonna give me a break," thought Spider-Man, as he swung along the skyline of New York, in his patched up suit.

"Happy New Year pedestrians!" exclaimed Spider-Man, as he swung past them, inches away from the ground as he pulled himself back up on the same web, as he reached his destination.

Spider-Man landed at a nearby alleyway, changed back into his civilian clothes and walked up to the entrance of the graveyard. With a bouquet of flowers in hand, and a deep breath, he walked in.

Peter walked up to Gwen's grave, still a little anxious.

"Hey Gwen. I know it's been a while since you've seen me like this. I always believed that I had lost you, for good, these past 9 months. But after everything that's happened, you made me realize something. You'll always be a part of me, Gwen. And I could never forget you. I wouldn't be the person I am without you. But, I can't hold on to you like that," said Peter, as he took another deep breath, placing the roses on the grave.

"Thank you for the best days of my life, Gwen Stacy. I love you, and I always will," he said, as he put his hand on the grave, smiling to himself as his eyes began to get teary. He slowly backed away from the grave and exited the cemetery.

Spider-Man swung out of the alleyway in a gracious manner, as he landed on another building, did a backflip and swan dived off, before finishing into another parabolic arc.

All of a sudden, there seemed to be a massive earthquake, as Peter's Spider-Sense began going haywire. There was a loud sound, almost as if the entire Earth was rumbling.

"AAAGH! Another monster tingle?" he asked himself, as he quickly landed on another building. He noticed the people on the ground, as they stared at the sky in shock and terror as the sunlight completely disappeared.

Spider-Man turned around and faced the dark sky, only to have his eyes go wide and his jaw drop in disbelief.

He stared at another Earth, taking up almost all of the sky. It was like another planet appeared spontaneously in the Earth's atmosphere.

"Okay, what the Hell?" asked Peter to himself.

And there we go! That's the end of The Invincible Spider-Man Season 5! Stay tuned for the next 5 parter- "Dimensional Apocalypse", which will involve Spider-Man teaming up with the Avengers, X-Men and the Fantastic Four to uncover the mystery behind the arrival of this parallel Earth, and what it's inhabitants want!

Wow this season really went on for a long time, a whole 9 months. I started writing this season when I was going through some of the worst times of my life, and it's ended on what I feel are the best days of my life! I'm gonna keep this short, but I genuinely cannot believe how far I've come in under a year, it's honestly surreal. I went from feeling like a complete loser to being with someone who makes me feel like I've won the world. Something I've learned is that no matter how bad shit gets, it always gets better :)
