Chapter 26 - Who are the WPGL?

- 19th March 2022 -

Dom stood at the front as per usual of these meetings. Helen was standing beside Dom and it's rare for the Head Girl to make an appearance at these meetings. They were all waiting for Rose to arrive and when she finally did she said, "But Dom it's a Saturday some people sleep in."

"You might want to reconsider that once I'm done with the meeting."

Rose slowly walked in and took the nearest seat. What could possibly be so urgent to be here first thing in the morning? She looked around hopefully, for Fie, though she would deny it. Only Mya had come of the three of them. Of course, she's not here.

"Helen and I have something important to discuss with you." Helen paused to get the right page out. "As the Weasley-Potter family is the largest family in this school as of current. It is in the schools best interest that I get involved in this important event coming up."

"What event?" Lily asked. Dom and Helen exchanged glances and Dom nodded to Helen as if to say she would take over.

"Choosing the next Head of this family in this school," Dom stated.

They were silent for a second before Lily stood suddenly making the chair loudly scrape against the stone.

"Why have not previous to now been told about this?" Lily asked in disbelief.

"Because the adults are in the dark, and you weren't close enough in years to your last year. Vic was the first because she was the oldest. It passed to me because I completed the task set by Vic. Roxy didn't complete the task." Dom explained and was interrupted by Mya.

"What task?"

Helen stepped forward, "Well, call it the test to see who is best to succeed the previous Head of Family. And even then, the Head has the ability to override it according to other specific rules. Anyway, more importantly," she got out some chalk and drew up a structure on the board, "At the top, there's the Head girl and boy. Then directly below are the Prefects, but what most don't know is that on the same level, in the shadows and unofficially, there is the Head of the Weasley-Potter family. Below the Head of Family is the Leader of the two separate groups, the WBBC and the WPGL. The Head of Family can be decided out of either of the WBBC or the WPGL. Also, think of the Head of Family to the right-hand supporter of the Head Boy or Girl of the school."

"Which also made me a good choice for Head of Family because I was already friends with Helen before she became Head Girl," Dom added.

"Who are the WPGL?" Lucy piped up quickly, and luckily, because most of them were wondering the same thing.

"It's us but abbreviated from Weasley-Potter GirLs."

"What does the Head of Family even do?" Rose said her thought aloud.

"They have the responsibility of keeping the family in line as much as possible and helping with organisational tasks for the school occasionally. Maintain order in the school when necessary. We," Dom gestured to Helen and herself, "don't often get involved in stopping fights but if the teachers take a while to get there we ordinarily step in before it can get ugly and leave before the teacher comes."

There was a long pause as they all let the information sink in.

"So why are we only now being told now?" Lily asked.

Dom sighed, "James is a candidate to be the next Head of Family. Along with Fred and Louis."

"Ahhh," Lily said what most of them were thinking.

"But I have a plan," Helen stated cheerfully as she erased the board and drew the plan.

- Meanwhile at the Owlery -

Fie seals the letter and gives it to her owl. Locan had just run into the Owlery to quickly post a message to his parents when he saw Fie standing alone in the Owlery with her face contort with intense thought. He didn't want to disturb her but at the same time he thought, it is creepy just to stand there watching her, right? What do I do? He ended up just standing there. As if he was frozen. Just observing how her dark hair had been braided and how she only lets her deepest thoughts be shown to animals and magical creatures. He desperately wanted to ask Fie why she looked so sad and grim. If only he wasn't shy. He could comfort her. If only he could speak his mind to her.

She suddenly turned out of her daze and seemed surprised to find Locan just silently standing at the entrance.

"Oh Locan, did you come to post something? I'll get out of your way," Fie said lightning fast before running out of the Owlery and down the corridor.

Locan could see as Fie met up with Jack Dixon. He yelled at her to which she submitted to and then he put his arm around her as they walked off. I would never treat her like that. Is there anything I can do? Locan slowly continues into the Owlery.

- After the WPGL meeting -

Al and Scorpius were waiting for the girls outside the library.

"Hey, how'd it go?" Al asked.

"It was...interesting, I'll tell you later. First of all, I have to go and get something from the dorm, I'll be right back." Mya winked at Al and ran off.

Rose was lost in thought when Scorpius waved his hand in front of her face. "Rosie, the wall can't possibly be that interesting."

She snapped out of it and said, "Oh sorry, lost in thought."

"Maybe I will end up getting the top marks in potions and charms after all," Scorpius stated tapping his chin and smirking.

"I'm not that lost you, git." Rose stuck her tongue out at Scorpius and crossed her arms.

"There's no helping the directionally challenged."

"Good for you. Go and enjoy a map." Rose stated sarcastically.

After a pause, they both were in tears of laughter. Al chuckled and said, "You two never change."

Before anyone could reply Mya had returned except she had brought Fie with her and her cave man boyfriend. Great. Rose crossed her arms.

"Al, what is the meaning of this?" Rose asked in a sharp tone.

"Meaning of what?" Al said trying to play innocent.

"It was my idea," Mya said, "I can't stand it anymore. You two fighting is driving us all insane."

"Oh I'm not the one that started it," Fie stated.

"Oh, you want to go there do you?" Rose rhetorically asked.
