"Adam?" Kim knocked on his door. "Are you getting up?"

"No." he groaned pathetically. Kim pushed open his door and was instantly hit with the waft of stale alcohol.

"It's ripe in here." She gagged.

"I'm dying."

"You are not dying."

"I am, I've got the Rona."

Kim reluctantly stepped into the room ignoring the fact that he was naked. It was another tendency of Adam's, when he was drunk and going to bed he somehow always managed to take all his clothes off. All of them, right down to his underwear. Right now she didn't care, she'd seen it all before. All she wanted was for him to get up and clean up the mess he'd made last night. She felt his forehead and he felt fine. "You don't have a fever."

"I've got it, I swear."

"Do you have a sore throat?"

"Yes."

"Bullshit, you probably snored all night and your throat is dry. Drink this." She handed him the bottle of water he always kept beside his bed. He propped himself up on one elbow, moaning pitifully.

"Do you have a cough?"

Pitifully he forced himself to cough and Kim rolled her eyes.

"My body hurts."

"Oh for fuck's sake Adam. Your body hurts because you insisted on doing an hour of yoga with me yesterday morning remember? Yoga that you've never done before. You bitched and moaned throughout that it hurt and that's all it is. Now get up and clean up the fucking mess you made."

"I have a headache." It was starting to get very annoying.

"Take some Advil."

"You don't care that I am dying of the Rona."

"A hangover is not dying, although keep going like this and you will die. I will kill you." She opened the curtains, flooding the room with light and cracked the window to air the place out. The cold air rushed in and even the few seconds of fresh air made the room feel nicer.

"My eyes, my eyes." He whined pulling the pillow over his face.

"That might be considered risky." She tugged on the pillow. "So tempting."

"Fuck off." Adam bitched and threw his pillow at her. "If I die you won't even care."

"No, no I won't and I won't come to your funeral either." Kim left him, she'd had enough and as much as she wanted to clean up she wasn't going to. It was Adam's mess to deal with. "I'm going to have a shower and I want it clean by the time I get out."

Kim had pulled the pin early when things started getting a little out of control. They started by having a Zoom 'drink' with Atwater and that turned into drinks with Halstead as well and the boys certainly got into the swing of it. They were loud, drunk and they thought they were more hilarious than they actually were. It was fun though and she didn't mind that they were having a good time but she left them to it. She heard Adam crashing around quite late and fortunately he was smart enough not to come into her room.

And then she saw the mess, the empty beer bottles, a half drunk scotch and food from one end of the kitchen to the other. He was a walking disaster area when he was drunk.

Reluctantly he hauled himself out of bed, pulled on a pair of boxers and cringed when he saw the state of the coffee table and kitchen. He grabbed a box and got rid of the bottles and a bin bag to clean up the random scraps of food and god knows what and by the time Kim came out it was looking halfway decent.

"Are you going to put clothes on?"

"No. I have a fever, this keeps me cool."

"You don't have a fever, you have a hangover Adam."

"Whatever." He waved his hand. "Are you doing yoga today?"

"Are you going to join me?"

He snorted. A downward dog right up would mean an upward motion of his stomach contents. "No, but I will watch."

"Don't be a pervert." Kim pushed him lightly in the side and out of her way. He may be cleaning up but she would still wipe the benches again. "Anyway, the testing people are coming soon so you need to shower, you stink and put some clothes on." It explained her current cleaning fetish, they had people coming and even though they would stand at the door, in full gloves, gowns and masks Kim was still paranoid about them seeing her place in a mess.

"We might have to stay here longer if I have the Rona?"

"I don't like you." Kim hissed at him. "Go and have a fucking shower."

Kim finished cleaning while Adam was in the shower, he heard the vacuum cleaner start up and when he came out she was mopping the floor. "You know they aren't coming in?" He stopped and laughed at her as he passed through the living area with just a towel wrapped around his waist. He was driving her mad with his lack of clothing. It all started off very civil but they he had become way too comfortable around her. Not that she minded, she liked the view, it was just becoming harder to resist and he knew it.

"Yes, I do know that."

"Okay."

He laughed and headed towards his room. "And Adam if you so much as joke about having this fucking virus when they are here I will hurt you so bad you will wish you actually did have it."

She just wanted to get out of these four walls. They both did, they wanted to get back to work. Everyone else was still out there doing their bit and they'd been twiddling their thumbs for two weeks. Neither of them liked being caged in.

They both tested negative.

They were free.

Kim helped Adam pack his bags and coffee machine into his car. Before they left the apartment she did hang onto him for a few minutes and enjoyed the hug. He kissed her softly and sweetly. "Thank you for not killing me."

"Your welcome." Kim smiled. "See you at work tomorrow."

"Yay. Can't wait."

It was a quiet night, they both missed the company. Kim wandered around her place, finding the odd thing that Adam had left behind. She thought about calling him several times but that was both insane and pathetic. He'd been gone less than four hours and she'd see him tomorrow.

Adam spent a good hour scrolling through all the photos they'd taken over the past two weeks. It hadn't been easy, there were times that they drove each other insane but more often than not they laughed, they had fun together and they also had tough conversations about the rough road they'd had, their relationship, the unexpected pregnancy and devastating loss. He honestly felt that it had been good for them.

Adam was sitting at his desk when Kim arrived at work the next morning, she put her coffee on her desk and handed him one. Without even asking she knew to bring him a coffee and she also knew that he'd be in already. Adam might be a flake some of the time but he loved his job and he had hated that he couldn't do it for the past two weeks. He was champing at the bit to get stuck back into it. Listening to Atwater and Halstead talking about some of the cases they had been working on had driven him mad but he couldn't stay out of it either. He couldn't switch off. "Hi stranger."

"Burgess." He grabbed the coffee and leant back in his chair. "How are you? Long time no see."

"I'm good. Did you sleep well?"

"No, I missed you." He leant forward and was about to reach out and grab her hand but they heard the gate open.

Kim took a step back and they both grinned as Voight came up the stairs. "Great. Burgess, Ruzek nice to see you back."

"Hey Boss. It's nice to be back." Burgess couldn't hide her delight.

"Yep. So things have changed a bit. We need to keep everyone isolated so we are working in teams. One day in the bullpen, two days remotely from home, so the three teams rotate through here. Obviously if we get a case you will be required to attend the scene but you must keep strict social distance. You two are teamed up so you'll be working together."

"Okay." Ruzek nodded, he could see Kim looking a little confused.

"So it's Atwater and Halstead and Upton and Rojas and you two obviously have been together for the past two weeks so it makes sense." Voight's smile twisted a little. "And because of self-isolation and quarantine and to limit the spread you will need to stay together at all times."

"Sure." Burgess could see the sense in that. It made sense at this stage that they worked strictly in teams.

"So Halstead has moved in with Atwater, obviously Upton and Rojas already live together and you two, well I hope you enjoyed your one night apart."

"What?" Kim gasped. "No."
