I haven´t read "The Fellowship of ring" completely, so I hope it suits more the book than the film but most important it suits you.

Enjoy.

Boromir awakes from a restless night. When he turns his head to the right the Captain General makes out the form of his brother. It appears Faramir was still asleep but once Boromir registers the open eyes of the young man, he knew he was not. Faramir's eyes found the ones of the older one, then his little brother sits up and broke the eye contact. "You couldn't sleep, I see, me neither," Boromir says aloud.

His little brother was preparing for the journey. The older one rises and starts to pack his belongings, following Faramir's example. "Are you alright?" Boromir then asks because he couldn't stand the silence any longer.

Faramir turns around to him and nods. "I am. You do not need to worry. It is just this journey. We both should be careful," he adds while adjusting his quiver. Boromir closes up on his brother and puts his hand on Faramir's shoulder.

"You are ever canny and cautious and I will try my best," Boromir reassures his little brother. In response, he receives a smile from the younger one.

Aragorn found less sleep, on that account an answer according his destiny, to accede his reign. It is time to go back to Gondor. "Na vedui, a wise decision," Elrond states while entering his chamber.

"Si an le," he hands the now reformed sword Narsil to Aragorn. He arises and regards it.

"Tîn esse ea, Andúril," Elrond continues. Aragorn takes the sword offered to him.

"Hantale," he expresses his acknowledgements.

His mentor nods and left. Time to get ready, Aragorn declares and packs his belongings. Carrying Andúril, stored in a holster on his back, he departs from his chamber.

Located in Minas Tirith, a man looks through the palantír he stored safely in his chambers. This man was Denethor, Steward of Gondor. He couldn't believe what he is seeing. Narsil, sword of Isildur was reformed and in possession of Thorongil. At least this was the name one does knew him. Denethor couldn't develop sympathy for this man. The Steward somehow always knew that Thorongil can't be trusted. Denethor searches for the ring expanding his view. The mighty weapon was nearby, together with Boromir. His heir will bring it to him.

Together Faramir and his brother left their chamber. Both ready for the journey. Unfortunately, Faramir had a rough night. That is why he lacks sleep. Luckily, he was used to the life of a ranger and were able to deal with it.

There, right in front of the gate, the brothers had passed the day before, were the others, belonging to the Fellowship. They join them and the brothers receive green cloaks with a brooch in from of a leaf. Faramir thanks the elves who present this gift to them. All members of the Fellowship, excluding Mithrandir, wear one. A feature that will tie them together. He puts it on. The cloak is similar to the one Faramir wear as a ranger. The younger one regards his brother. No doubt, a cloak suits him, Boromir should wear one more often. The older one senses that he is watched and smiles at him.

Faramir looks about and his gaze finds the ranger he met yesterday. His eyes remain on the man's appearance. The man was talking with the elf.

"Meet Aragorn and Legolas," Mithrandir tells him. His old friend came up to him. Faramir's eyes wander to the wizard. Mithrandir shares a sympathise look, then he passes the gate.

"It is time. We have a long way to go," the wizard commands and they all knew, including Faramir, that the journey starts in this blink of an eye. Now, the hobbits are passing the gate, followed by Aragorn and Legolas. Next, the dwarf and then Boromir. Faramir were the last and least of them. He knew, from now on there was no going back. They were heading south. Mordor, being their final destination.

The Fellowship travel on foot for hours till they decided to stop and rest. Aragorn sees to it that they were save, then he returned. Frodo were talking with Gandalf. Legolas and Gimli take turns looking at each other. Boromir practices swordplay with Merry and Pippin. Faramir started a conversation with Sam. All are safe and well that was obvious. Aragorn watches the swordplay again. Boromir then fell laughing to the ground, Merry and Pippin hinder him from rising up. He tries to intervene and to help Boromir to stand up but failed, ending up on the ground too. Boromir was up on his feet before Aragorn and offered him a hand. He took it and Boromir pulled him up again. Gondor's Captain General nods towards him. Then the two lively hobbits occupied Boromir's attention once again. Aragorn decides to sit next to Faramir and Sam. He knew that the young ranger watched him since this journey started. It was clear that Faramir was thinking about his role in all of that. It wouldn't surprise him if the younger one already knew of his destiny. He wears Barahir's ring and Aragorn was quite sure that Faramir could well guess what that meant. Aragorn regards the younger son of the Steward of Gondor. The young ranger looks indeed much like his brother but he also shares their mother's kind nature. Aragorn never met Finduilas incarnate because he spent most of his time as Captain of the Ithilien Rangers or with Ecthelion but she was well-known among Gondor and beyond. If the rumours were true, she was able to receive visions of what will happen. Aragorn wonders if she passed this gift to Faramir or Boromir. The younger one has looked up to meet his gaze while Aragorn ponders. Their second archer smiles shyly at him, then he continues his conversation with Sam.

From behind Boromir sneaks up to his brother. Aragorn smiles but remains silent. As long as they have some happy moments, they should greet them. When Boromir was about to startle his little brother, Faramir dodges and turns around. The older one only catchs air. "That was close," Boromir declares with a smile.

"Was it?" Faramir counters and adds, "What were you about to do?"

It wasn't really close, Aragorn thoughts. "The plan was to surprise you. That's it. How did you know?" Boromir replies.

"Sometimes, I can just sense what will happen even without going through a dream," Faramir explains. So, the young ranger obtained this gift of Finduilas, Aragorn determines.

Boromir shares a dashing smile, "I never had a chance."

The gaze of the Captain General once more today remains on his brother. How it comes, he forgot about that talent. When they were children, Faramir surprised him with it, being best at hide and seek. Now, he should know because it is his obligation as a big brother to know every detail about his little brother. He spent too much time in battle and too less with Faramir. Boromir will keep that in mind and hopes he could change it one day. As soon as Gondor defeated Sauron, they will have peace. Then Boromir will see his brother more often and hopefully every day. Gandalf then rises and it was obvious that it was time for them to go. They all collect their belongings and follow their leader.

The ten of them walked till the evening, once it got dark, they decided to rest and to continue tomorrow. Sam was about to light a fire, Frodo at his side. Legolas and Aragorn scout the area. Gimli and Gandalf take a seat. Boromir looks after Merry and Pippin, watching them continually. His brother did a good job and Faramir reminisces their childhood. The young ranger puts down his bow and quiver. He knees down and leans on a tree next to the fireplace. The two scouts returned and sentries were stipulate. Faramir received the second sentry, Boromir volunteered to do the first one. His brother vanishes in the woods and the remaining ones ingest a plain meal. After their short meal they all prepare to sleep. Faramir fetches his diary and writes his second entry:

Isildur's Bane

Day 2

The journey of the Fellowship continued. We walked the whole day. It is like I never left the Ithilien Rangers. Boromir tried to frighten me from behind but I dodged. He forgot about my ability to see things coming. When I reminded him, he had this look in his eyes. I suspect he thinks that he failed me. That is not true. Without Boromir I would have faced a very lonely childhood. I love him dearly and will protect him come what may. He will return to Gondor.

Now it is time for me to sleep. I have the second sentry.

Faramir stores his diary and quill safely away and closes his eyes to sleep a bit.

Till now I haven´t even started to write Chapter 3. So, it may take some time until you can read along...

Be sure to leave a review.

I promise that I´ll definitely finish this story but as said, it could take some time. I am not in the mood to work on it right now because I am working on another story.

But I really enjoy working on it, so I´ll work on it again.

Thanks for reading so far.
