Moments later, Velo leads Pinstripe, Geary, Oxide, Zam and Zem into the research and development laboratory aboard his mothership.
"Welcome to my research and development laboratory!" Velo exclaims to Pinstripe and Geary.
Pinstripe and Geary look around in awe and amazement with what they see: several devices and gadgets of various shapes and sizes being tested by Znu and Slap-E henchmen, Ratnicians and Doom Monkeys on several dummies resembling Crash and his friends.
"Oh, man! This is so exciting!" Geary excitedly tells Pinstripe. "We'll use each and every single one of these bad boys to crush that pesky bandicoot once and for all!"
"Not so fast, you two." Oxide says to Geary. "These weapons aren't for you. Velo has something else in mind for the two of you."
As Oxide motions them towards Velo, Pinstripe asks, "Well, we're here, now what's your plan, big V?"
"'Big V.' I like that." Velo chuckles with a grin as he leads Pinstripe and Geary to a large computer monitor, about the size of the Load/Save screens in the Adventure mode. "Anyways, here is what I've got planned for earth."
He presses a button on the computer panel, turning the display on. On the screen are two major fast food conglomerates, Toxic Burger and Nuclear Pizza, floating miles above the surface of Gasmoxia.
"Seriously?" Pinstripe asks in disbelief. "You brought us here to sell fast food?"
"Oh, no. That's not what I have in mind." Velo replies. "Look closer."
He motions for Pinstripe to turn a dial on the control panel. Pinstripe turns the dial, zooming in on the image, where they see Toxic Burger's mascot, a living Toxic Burger with cartoon arms and legs, on the roof of his restaurant indistinctly arguing with the mascot of Nuclear Pizza, who likewise is standing on the roof of his restaurant shouting at Toxic Burger's mascot.
"So, what exactly do you have in mind for this living, breathing food here?" Pinstripe asks Velo.
"Allow me to shed some light on the subject." Oxide says before clearing his throat. "You see, Zem here loves to frequent these two restaurants on a daily basis. So I have to go out of my way to drive him there to get some food because he's too lazy to do it himself."
Pinstripe and Geary glance over at Zem, who is seen picking his nose, scratching his backside and belching. Pinstripe and Geary look at each other with disgust before backing away.
Oxide continues to explain, "Anyways, last time we were there, I overheard the mascots arguing over who gets to have an official CTR TV sponsorship."
"Wait, we're getting a sponsorship?" Pinstripe asks, confused.
"Apparently so." Oxide replies.
"Now, here's where it gets interesting." Velo says, offering Pinstripe and Geary a seat in front of the computer monitor. The two of them sit as Velo continues to speak. "I've seen this kind of thing before. Apparently, Gasmoxian feuds are different from those on your home planet. If they are not resolved within a week, it will eventually lead to a full-scale war!"
"War?" Pinstripe asks with excitement. "Now you're starting to get me excited here!"
"But, sire..." Geary says with confusion. "How exactly will this affect earth?"
"Simple." Velo responds. "While they're busy fighting, I'm going to mutate their food and launch it towards earth!"
Pinstripe and Geary stare at Velo with disbelief before Pinstripe asks, "And how will that help you conquer earth exactly? Will everyone eat until their stomachs explode?"
"No, no, no." Velo says to Pinstripe. "You see, Gasmoxian cuisine is highly toxic to earthlings, so once they consume it, they'll be poisoned and transformed into sinister mutants! When that's all said and done, I'll recruit these mutants to form an intergalactic army! With them on my side, there will be no one to stop me from conquering earth, and eventually, the galaxy!"
Velo divulges into evil laughter before continuing, "So, would you like a free demonstration of what I plan to do to earth?"
"Is that a trick question? Of course we would!" Pinstripe exclaims.
"Perfect!" Velo says as he presses a button on a nearby control panel, lowering a cage into the room, which contains a mutant Toxic Burger. It has tentacles coming from all over, a cannon attached to its upper bun which can fire toxic slime at enemies and several bug-like eyes to distract its prey. Pinstripe and Geary react with shock and awe at the mutant food.
"Bring out the test subject!" Velo shouts.
A nearby door opens and several Ratnicians bring in a body inside a bag, which is still wriggling around inside and shouting, "Hey! Where am I? What's going' on here? I demand answers!"
As the character continues to cry for help, the Ratnicians untie the bag and dump the character out, revealing him to be Bubsy the Bobcat.
"Oh, great. It's this ding-a-ling." Pinstripe groans.
The Toxic Burger, taking sight of Bubsy, pulls out a plate and fires some toxic slime onto it. It uses one of its tentacles to bring the food closer to Bubsy, which he notices.
"What's this? Food?" Bubsy asks as he takes the plate. "Oh, finally! I've been trapped in that bag since 1996! I'm starving!"
He takes a bite of the slime and is puzzled by the taste at first, before shrugging and eating the rest of the slime. "Mmm. Tastes like rancid watermelon mixed with Indian food. Ah, well. No big deal! I mean, after all, what could possibly go wrong?"
After he finishes talking, Bubsy starts to choke on the slime as Pinstripe and Geary curiously look on, with Pinstripe getting excited at seeing Bubsy in pain. Suddenly, Bubsy's arms mutate into multiple pairs of tentacles, his tail mutates into a scorpion's tail, his ears mutate into donkey ears, his eyes turn into fly eyes, his fur turns from orange to toxic purple, his head is turned into that of a chicken, and finally, the rest of him is mutated into a llama. He then croaks like a frog, complete with a frog's tongue.
Pinstripe and Geary turn to each other and both exclaim, "WOW."
"Minions, show our newest recruit to his chambers." Velo says as the Ratnicians lead the mutant Bubsy away out of the R&D department. Velo turns back to Pinstripe and Geary and asks, "So, what do you think?"
"What do we think? What do we think?" Pinstripe replies excitedly. "I think it's wonderful! If we subject Crash and his friends to this stuff, Tawna will have no choice but to dump him and then, she'll be back in my grasp again! How can we help?"
"Simple." Velo tells them. "I just need the two of you to steal food from these two restaurants and bring them to me."
"What?!" Geary exclaims. "You mean to tell me that you stole this food?! That's not like you! You're a wise ruler and you'd never resort to something as low as stealing!"
"No, Geary. I didn't steal this food." Velo says as he holds up a bag of Wumpa Coins. "I paid for it legally and then brought it here for mutation. You two are going to steal the food."
"Us? Really?" Pinstripe asks curiously.
"Yes." Velo replies. "But first, in order to do that, you'll need to get in with the mascot owners and turn them against each other further, and while they're busy arguing, that's when you'll make your move, stealing their food and bringing it back to me. Pinstripe, I'll get you in with Toxic Burger, and Geary, you'll be in with Nuclear Pizza."
"That's great!" Geary exclaims. "I love their deep-dish Uranium-238 stuffed crust pizza with nitro glycerin sauce!"
Velo continues, "And once all the food is mutated and the war commences, we'll take off away from the fight and launch the food at earth! They'll be too distracted by the war that they won't even see us leaving!"
"Oh, this is going to be so much fun, Pinstripe!" Geary exclaims.
"And the best part..." Velo continues. "If my plan is successful and I get my intergalactic mutant army, you two will get as many legendary skins as your hearts desire."
"REALLY?!" The two of them exclaim with extreme glee. "LET'S DO IT!"
"Excellent!" Velo says to them. "Now then, what do you say we fire a warning shot at earth to let them know what's coming?" He presses another button on the control panel, showing the mothership's cargo bay on the screen. In the cargo bay is a smaller vessel containing at least two dozen mutant burgers and pizzas, ready to be launched.
"What do you think, big V?" Pinstripe replies. "Let's show 'em what we're made of!"
"Great!" Velo exclaims. "I'll even let you pick where you want them to attack."
"Oh, that's easy, big V." Pinstripe says as he types away at the keyboard. On the screen, Pinstripe enters the destination for the mutant food vessel to land at: Wumpa Island, home of the bustling community of Wumpa City and Crash Bandicoot.
"Wumpa Island?" Oxide asks. "Isn't that where that bandicoot and his friends live?"
"That's right!" Pinstripe replies. "First thing I want to do before we get this plan going is to get rid of Crash Bandicoot so he and his friends won't stop us like they did last time! And I'll get the food to kidnap my beloved trophy wife Tawna and bring her to me!"
"I like the way you think, Pinny!" Velo exclaims. "Fire away!"
"With pleasure, big V!" Pinstripe exclaims.
However, before he can press the launch button, Geary interrupts, saying, "Wait a second! Velo, it took us about three to four days to get from earth to Gasmoxia. Won't the food rot by the time it reaches earth?"
"Nonsense, Geary." Velo reassures him. "These vessels you see in the launch bay have special thrusters, allowing them to reach earth in approximately five to ten minutes."
"Oh, well then, my bad." Geary replies, sitting back down in his chair. "Proceed, Pinstripe."
"Alright, Geary." Pinstripe replies as he presses the launch button, launching the vessel out of the mothership and towards earth.
"Get ready to face our wrath, Crash Bandicoot." Pinstripe says as he, Geary and Velo watch the vessel exit Gasmoxia's orbit.
"Things are about to get... toxic!" Velo says before engaging in evil laughter, with Pinstripe and Geary joining him.
