Elsewhere, Von Clutch leads Coco into his office. Coco looks around and remembers that this was the very place where V.C. proposed his offer to her and the others to help save his park all the way back in Tag Team Racing. Looking around, she sees a series of photos adorning the walls, from the time Von Clutch happily opened his theme park to the public for the first time, all the way to the time where he lost the deed to the park and he and Pasadena had to say goodbye to their only home.

Coco, feeling sorry for his tragic past, glances towards Von Clutch, who is sitting at his desk looking through piles of papers.

Eventually, Coco regains her composure and asks him, "So, what's up, V.C.? Is it about the next Grand Prix season? Do you have any ideas on what the next theme could be?"

Von Clutch sighs and tells Coco, "Nein, mein Fraulein."

"Well, why not?" Coco asks, puzzled.

"I'm afraid..." Von Clutch says with regret as he glances up at Coco. "I'm afraid we can't do any more after zis next one."

"What?" Coco asks, shocked and dumbfounded.

Von Clutch continues, "Look, I didn't want to have to tell you zis, since I knew your heart couldn't take it, but..." He inhales sharply. "...our racing campaign's low on funds."

"What?!" Coco exclaims with shock.

"You see, these Grand Prix events cost us a fortune, Coco." Von Clutch tells her as he hands her a piece of paper, which she starts to look over as he continues to speak. "I've looked over ze numbers und with ze amount we've spent on ze past seven seasons, I don't see how we can afford to have any more after zis season."

"What?!" Coco exclaims as she finishes reading the paper Von Clutch gave her. "We've spent that much? On new tracks? Seriously?!"

Von Clutch sighs and tells Coco, "I'm afraid so."

"Well, there's got to be something we can do!" Coco exclaims before getting an idea. "Wait. You guys are shooting that science fiction movie, correct?"

"Ja, we are." Von Clutch says.

"Perfect!" Coco exclaims happily. "We can just take the earnings from your movie and use that to help with our financial situation!"

"Not good enough, Coco." Von Clutch sadly tells her. "Believe me, dear, I had ze same thought as you did, but it's just not enough to get us through zis unfortunate situation."

Coco, confused and concerned, asks Von Clutch, "What do you mean 'not enough?' What don't I know? What aren't you telling me, Von Clutch?"

Von Clutch turns to Coco and says, "Well, there's more to it, und I fear you're not going to like it."

As Von Clutch continues to speak with Coco, Spyro makes his way up to a ledge, which is next to a broken window in Von Clutch's office, allowing him to listen in on their conversation.

"Now, what do they have to say regarding next season?" Spyro thinks to himself as he starts to listen in on their discussion.

"Wait a second, V.C." Coco says, confused. "Run that by me again."

Von Clutch says to Coco, "Yes, in addition to ze box office earnings from mein film, we also need an official sponsorship for our racing campaign on top of that."

"Sponsorship?" Spyro quietly asks himself as he continues to listen in. "What are they talking about?"

"A sponsorship?" Coco asks, confused.

"Do you have any idea of how many sponsors I've reached out to lately?" Von Clutch tells her as he sits down at his desk, which is coated with dust. "Not a word from a single one. It's almost as if they don't want to help us out."

Coco thinks for a minute before proposing an idea to Von Clutch, "Well, what about your park? I mean, no one's used it for almost fifteen years. We can sell the deed to the highest bidder and—"

"Nein, Coco. I appreciate ze thought, but we have to have a sponsorship." Von Clutch dejectedly tells her. "And besides, I lost ze deed to ze park long after mein not-so-jolly park mascot Willie Wumpa Cheeks betrayed and sued me for improper maintenance of ze park. Selling it's not an option, I'm afraid."

"So, that's it?" Coco asks with extreme concern. "No more Grand Prix seasons after this one?"

Spyro, upon hearing this, lets out a dumbfounded, "What?"

"Yes, und not just that." Von Clutch continues. "If we don't get funding und a sponsorship by ze end of ze month, I'm afraid..." He inhales sharply and rests his hands on his desk. "...I'm afraid that we'll have to retire from racing entirely."

Upon hearing this, Coco gasps with extreme shock, as does Spyro from outside.

"No more races?!" Coco asks fearfully.

"No more racing?" Spyro asks himself, puzzled and concerned.

Von Clutch approaches Coco and says to her, "I really didn't want to have to tell you all zis, Coco, but—"

"No, I understand." Coco sadly says, but in an understanding tone. "I just don't know how I'm going to tell the others. They'll be crushed."

"Oh, believe me, Coco." Von Clutch says to her. "Breaking zis kind of news is ze hardest part of zis type of situation. But for now, what do you say we keep zis between ze two of us, huh? Don't want anyone else to get worried."

"If you say so..." Coco says as she prepares to leave. Spyro, confused, flies away from the window.

"Thanks for understanding, Coco, dear." Von Clutch sadly says as he heads back to his desk. Coco sighs with sadness and leaves his office, closing the door behind her.

Coco walks out the front gate of Motorworld, confused and also saddened by the sudden news dumped onto her. As she continues to process the information, she exclaims in surprise when she sees Spyro sitting in front of her, with a look of extreme concern on his face.

"Oh, Spyro. Hey!" she nervously says to him. "What are you doing here? I thought you were on your way to take Elora over to Dragon Shores."

"Coco, is it true?" Spyro asks with concern. "We won't be able to race anymore?"

Coco, surprised with Spyro's words, says, "Wait, you overheard me and Von Clutch's conversation? How much of it did you hear?"

Spyro sighs and says to her, "I heard enough."

Coco sighs dejectedly and tells him, "Sadly, yes, it's true. Unless we get a sponsorship, our racing days our over. I... I didn't want to have to tell you this, but..."

"No, no. It's okay." Spyro says calmly. "I'm glad you did."

"I just don't know what we're going to do about this predicament." Coco moans as she sits and rests her hands on her face.

"Well, I'd say the first thing we should do is find Crash and Tawna, and break the news to them." Spyro calmly tells her. "It's not going to be easy, but they should be one of the first to know about this."

Coco sighs, gets up and says, "I guess so."

"Come on, Coco. Hop on my back." Spyro says as he motions her to climb atop him. "We'll find them."

"Well, they should be in Wumpa City." Coco says as she climbs atop Spyro's back. "That's where they go for most of their dates."

"All right. Wumpa City it is, then!" Spyro says as he and Coco take off into the air and in the direction of Wumpa City. "Lead the way, Coco! And don't worry. We'll find some way to keep racing. That's a promise."
