Meanwhile, that evening in Wumpa City's Market Square district, Crash and Tawna are enjoying a romantic anniversary dinner at a Hawaiian-themed restaurant owned and operated by Papu Papu. For this evening, however, Crash and Tawna are not seating in the main dining area. Instead, the two of them have been given their own private dining suite located outside looking over the beach, complete with a live band consisting of Papu's native tribe playing sweet, romantic music.
As Crash and Tawna enjoy their meal and tap their wine glasses together, Tawna happily says to Crash, "Aw, Crash, I can't begin to tell you how romantic you've made this evening."
Crash, who is busy eating his meal, looks up at Tawna and playfully giggles.
"This is absolutely perfect." Tawna continues. "A private dining suite just for the two of us, live music, a picturesque view of the ocean, and all of it to celebrate the anniversary of our very first date." She sighs happily and contently before continuing, "But, Crash, can I ask you something?"
Crash nods happily as Tawna continues, "How on earth did you manage to pay for all this? Surely, it must've cost a fortune!"
Crash answers Tawna's question through incomprehensible gibberish. Once Crash is done speaking, Tawna happily and heartily laughs at what Crash just told her.
"Wow! You actually took every last bit of Pinstripe's riches to pay for our anniversary dinner?" Tawna happily laughs. "I love that, Crash! Way to teach that no-good rat a lesson!"
Crash smiles and playfully shrugs.
Tawna sighs and says to Crash, "I'm just glad I don't have to deal with that creep anymore, not after Oxide took him and that OCD robot to his home planet. I mean, really. Who nukes earth over something as trivial as not getting a legendary skin, anyway?"
Crash, agreeing with Tawna's words, says something to her through more gibberish.
"Yeah, it was cool when you beat him using the weapons of N. Tropy and that Gnasty Gnorc character." Tawna tells him, before smiling warmly at him. "I honestly cannot thank you enough for saving me from Pinstripe, Crash."
Crash playfully says something to her through more gibberish.
Tawna giggles and says to Crash, "You always say the cutest things, Crash! I love you, and I always will."
The two of them lean in close and attempt to share a kiss. But before they can lock lips, Papu Papu approaches and says to the two, "Ah! And how is bandicoot's food this evening? Spicy, no?"
Crash and Tawna regain their composure, with Tawna telling Papu Papu, "Just peachy, Papu Papu!"
Crash nods in agreement as Tawna taps on her wine glass and continues, "But one thing, could we maybe get a refill here?"
"Ah, certainly!" Papu Papu says before calling out into the kitchen, "Megamix! More Wumpa wine!"
"Coming!" Megamix meekishly calls out as it fumbles into the private suite with a bottle of Wumpa wine. Megamix trips and falls on the ground, causing the wine bottle to fly through the air. Tawna manages to catch it before it hits the ground and sets it on the table in-between her and Crash.
"Nice reflexes." Megamix says as Papu Papu helps him up.
"Megamix!" Papu Papu scolds. "You gotta be careful! No damage the merchandise or injure customers!"
"I'm— WE'RE sorry, Mr. Papu." Megamix says to him. "It was an accident, I— WE swear!"
"Just try to be more careful!" Papu Papu says as Megamix scurries back into the kitchen.
"Hey, thanks for giving Megamix a job and a place to stay, Papu." Tawna says to him.
"Hey, no look at Papu." He says to her. "It was cute blue-haired bandicoot's idea."
"Oh, gosh, that reminds me!" Tawna says to Crash, remembering something. "I completely forgot to tell Von Clutch that I wasn't going to make it to filming today! Oh, I hope V.C. doesn't kill me for this."
Upon hearing this, Crash rests his hand on Tawna's, with a look on his face that says everything's going to be just fine.
"You're right, Crash." Tawna warmly says to him. "I shouldn't freak out too much about it. I mean, it's only one day of shooting. It's not like we're in any sort of financial trouble or anything, I mean, come on!"
Suddenly, Crash's stomach gurgles. He motions for Papu Papu to come closer and whispers something into his ear.
"Bathroom? In back." Papu Papu tells him.
Crash nods, gets up and excuses himself to the bathroom, with Tawna calling out to him, "Don't be long, Crash, dear!"
In the bathroom, Crash freshens up to keep up his appearance. As he looks himself over in the mirror, he sighs and pulls out a small box. He opens it and glances at what's inside: an engagement ring he made himself from 24-karat gold and fitted with a rare priceless diamond he found lying in his backyard. Yes, after almost losing her in the post-apocalyptic nightmare they had to endure not too long ago, Crash, determined to never lose Tawna again, plans on proposing to her.
As Crash stares at the engagement ring, a flood of questions were running through his head: Is this the right time to propose to Tawna? What if she's not ready for marriage yet? What if she flat-out says no? What if I'm not ready for marriage?
The last question hits Crash the hardest, as he closes the lid to the box and places it back in his pocket, feeling like he's not ready to pop the question just yet. In Crash's mind, he feels like he wants to wait for just the right moment to break the ice and propose to his one true love.
Returning to the private dining suite, Tawna looks up as Crash sits back down and notices that he doesn't look as happy as he was before he left.
Concerned, Tawna asks him, "Crash, honey, what's wrong? Are you okay?"
Crash looks up at Tawna, forces a smile and nods.
Tawna continues, "Is there something that you want to say?"
Crash scratches the back of his neck as Tawna continues, "Come on. You can tell me anything. What's on your mind, sweetie?"
Crash gets his composure together, but before he can say something to Tawna, the two of them hear a voice calling out, "Crash? Tawna? Where are you guys?" getting their attention.
The two of them exit the private suite and into the main dining area, where they see N. Brio, who is looking for Crash and Tawna, trying to get past Papu Papu, who is blocking his path.
"Hey! No reservation, no entry, buddy!" Papu Papu says to Brio.
"But you d-d-don't understand!" Brio tells him fearfully. "I have to see Crash and T-T-Tawna! It's an emergency!"
"Brio?" Tawna asks with great concern and confusion.
"Crash! Tawna!" Brio exclaims as the two approach him. "Oh, thank goodness I found you! You two have got to get out here quick! It's urgent!"
"Why? What is it?" Tawna asks as Brio heads for the main door. "What's wrong?"
"No time to explain!" Brio says in a panic as he holds the door open for the two. "Something terrible's happening over on Main Street! We have to hurry!"
"Right behind you, Brio!" Tawna exclaims as she and Crash follow Brio outside.
"Hey!" Papu Papu calls out. "You no pay for food!"
Upon hearing this, Crash quickly darts back in and drops a bag full of Pinstripe's riches in front of Papu Papu before darting back out the door.
Looking at the bag, Papu Papu gets the biggest, goofiest grin on his face as he calls out, "Thank you!"
