In another part of Coco's lab is a massive launch bay where Crash, Coco, and the rest of the group is making final preparations for launch to the planet of Gasmoxia, where they plan to confront Emperor Velo XXVII, Oxide, Pinstripe and Geary to stop them from invading earth and enslaving all of mankind for Velo's intergalactic army.
As everyone else works, Crash and Coco, dressed up in their Star skins, approach a massive rocket them and Crunch constructed years ago, but never had the time to test it, and glance at it with determination, Coco exclaims to Crash, "Wow-ee, Crash. Would you look at the size of this thing?"
Crash nods in agreement and says something to Coco through incomprehensible gibberish.
"I know, right?" Coco says to Crash as N. Brio, dressed up in a special spacesuit designed for his mutated state, approaches the two of them from behind. "Hard to believe it's been sitting here in my lab collecting dust all these years. Never thought we'd end up using it until now."
As Brio joins Crash and Coco by their side, he glances up at the rocket and exclaims to Coco with awe, "Wow, Coco. That's some rocket you got there."
"Why, thank you, Brio!" Coco happily says to Brio with a cheerful grin.
"How did you ever find the time to build such a thing?" Brio asks Coco as the three of them head for another part of Coco's lab. "Surely it couldn't have been constructed overnight."
"Simple, Brio." Coco tells him. "I constructed it using leftover parts from Cortex's old Doominator bot and Space Head station from over ten years ago."
"Oh, yeah! The Space Head! I remember that!" Brio tells her, remembering events from twelve years ago that Cortex forced him to partake in. "Another brilliant failure from my former mentor, am I right?"
"You got that right, Brio!" Coco says as she prepares to give Brio a high five but stops herself when she remembers when Brio accidentally covered her with slime following his mutation.
Not wanting a repeat of that accident, Coco looks around and eventually spots a pair of lab gloves sitting on a desk. She grabs them and hands them to Brio, telling him, "Here you go, Brio. Don't want to accidentally get any more slime on anyone like earlier."
"Wise thinking, Coco." Brio tells her as he slips on the gloves. The three of them then approach a circular training room where Crunch is waiting, doing sit-ups in the process.
Standing behind a glass barrier at a control panel, Coco says over the training room's intercom, "All right, Crunch, ready to test out that robotic gear I made for you?"
"You bet I am, Coco!" Crunch exclaims as he leaps up.
"All right, fire it up!" Coco exclaims as she pulls a lever labeled, 'TARGET PRACTICE.'
Crunch then presses a button on a special wristband attached to his robotic hand, covering his body in robotic tech, eventually forming his Robo-Crunch skin. Moments later, several targets with crudely drawn images of Pinstripe and Geary pop up all around him. With quick reflexes, Crunch fires several energy blasts from his hands at said targets, blowing them to bits. As more targets pop up, Crunch tries out other weapons on his robotic armor, such as mini-rockets, lasers, mohawk missiles, and other explosive weaponry, covering the entire room with smoke.
When the smoke clears from all the chaos, Crunch turns to Crash, Coco and Brio and asks, "So, how was that, Coco?"
The three of them stand there, wide-eyed and amazed before, seconds later, the glass barrier they were standing behind breaks into pieces. Coco then says over the intercom, "Wow. Ten out of ten there, Crunch."
Elsewhere, Cortex, dressed up in his Star skin, is being forced by Tawna to stay seated at a lab table while she and the Nitro Squad are busy changing into their space gear in another part of the lab. Eyeing several of Coco's gadgets scattered across the room, Cortex makes another attempt to grab one and turn it into a device to kill Crash and the other bandicoots with. However, before he can step away from the lab table, Tawna, upon hearing Cortex's chair scrape across the floor, calls out, "Cortex! You're not leaving! Back to the table, now!"
Cortex groans and grumbles in annoyance as he scooches his chair back to the table before noticing Koala Kong, dressed up in an orange-coated astronaut suit, entering the room with King Chicken in tow, who is wearing a similar astronaut getup just like his.
Seeing King Chicken in Koala Kong's possession, Cortex groans and asks, "Must you bring that chicken with us, Kong?"
"Y-yes." Koala Kong tells Cortex. "He's... m-my... emotional... s-support..."
"Oh, brother." Cortex grumbles to himself under his breath. "Why doesn't he realize that I hate chickens so much?"
"Koala Kong? You out there?" Ami calls out, getting Koala Kong's attention.
"Y-yes." Koala Kong says in surprise.
"Would you do us a favor and escort Cortex out of the room and to the launch bay?" Ami continues. "Don't want him spying on us changing or messing with any of Coco's inventions."
"S-sure." Koala Kong says as he starts to lead Cortex out of the room. "C-c-come… along… C-c-cortex."
"Don't touch me." Cortex growls as he makes his way to the door.
As they leave, Spyro, dressed up in an astronaut suit just like Koala Kong's, is busy talking on the phone with Elora, explaining the details of the situation he's in, telling her, "Sorry, Elora. I know I promised I'd spend Valentine's Day at Dragon Shores with you, but something big has come up, and Crash and Coco need my help with it."
On the other end, Elora calmly tells Spyro, "Well, if they urgently need your help, then there's no rush to get to Dragon Shores. Me, Hunter and the Professor can work on some of his experiments over at the Winter Tundra while you're gone."
"Well, thanks for understanding." Spyro continues. "And I promise, once we're done here, I'll head straight to Avalar and take you to Dragon Shores, just like I said I would!"
"Sounds great, Spyro!" Elora tells him. "I look forward to it!"
As Spyro continues to talk to Elora, Hasty, whom Coco invited to help out with the launch, says over an intercom, "All crew members, report to the launch bay for takeoff."
Upon hearing this, Spyro finishes up his call with Elora, telling her, "Sorry, Elora, but I gotta fly. We're about ready for takeoff."
"Takeoff?" Elora asks with confusion. "Where exactly are you guys going?"
"Oh, we're going to space to stop an evil tyrant and Tawna's creepy stalker from enslaving all of earth." Spyro tells her.
"Oh, that creep you've been telling me about. Poor Tawna." Elora says with disgust, before continuing with encouragement, "Well, good luck, Spyro! We'll all be here waiting for you!"
"All right! Tell Hunter, Bianca and the Professor that I said, 'Hi," would ya?" Spyro happily says to Elora. "Gotta run! See you soon!"
He then hangs up the phone and makes his way out of the room and to the launch pad.
With everyone sans Tawna and the Nitro Squad entering the launch bay, ready for takeoff, Coco then turns to the rest of the group and does a quick head count. "Let's see... five, six, seven... Eight." she mutters to herself. "We should have thirteen in our group."
Coco then calls out, "Tawna? Isabella? Girls? You about ready to go?"
"We'll be right out, Coco, dear!" Isabella calls out from another part of the lab.
"Okay!" Coco calls out as Cortex approaches her and glances at the rocket.
Annoyed with what he sees, Cortex turns to Coco and tells her with dissatisfaction, "Just so you know, Coco, I do not approve of you using parts from the Doominator and my giant Space Head to construct something that could be used for good intentions."
"Well, what was I supposed to use, Cortex?" Coco asks, getting tired of Cortex's complaining. "Bamboo technology that would burn up the second we left earth's atmosphere?"
"You know, Cortex, you have a real attitude problem here." Spyro says to Cortex, unamused.
"Yeah, Spyro's right!" Coco tells Cortex, backing up Spyro's words. "And don't forget that when we all had to endure that post-apocalyptic nightmare, it was you who suggested we put aside our differences and work together as a team."
"What are you talking about?" Cortex tells Coco, pretending that he has no idea what she's talking about. "I never said anything of the sort!"
"Oh, really?" Coco smugly says as she pulls out her phone. She then plays a video of the moment following earth's destruction where Cortex proposed to the racers that they all work together, with him saying, "We all have to put aside our differences and work together, as a team!"
At a loss for words at seeing Coco's video evidence, Cortex can only stand there in silence for a moment before groaning and grumbling, "You know what? Just forget it."
"Oh, guys..." Ami seductively calls out, getting everyone's attention.
Upon hearing Ami's voice, Crash and the others spin around as Crunch says, "Yes, Ami—"
Before Crunch can continue any further, though, his face lights up and his eyes almost bug out with what he sees: Ami all dressed up in Gasmoxian-style armor wielding a pair of ray guns. Shortly after, Tawna, Isabella, Megumi and Liz join Ami by her side dressed in similar outfits. Seeing the bandicoot ladies in their outfits results in Crash, Crunch, Spyro, Koala Kong and N. Brio doing a massive jaw drop with bug eyes. Even Coco does a similar jaw drop upon seeing her mother figure adopt a tough, battle-ready facade.
"Well, guys, what do you think?" Tawna asks with a smirk on her face.
Stunned, Crash can only let out a timid, "Woah..."
"Yeah, Crash." Crunch says to him in amazement. "You got that right. Woah."
Moments later, as the guys and Coco regain their composure, Spyro approaches Tawna and the Nitro Squad and asks them out of curiosity, "Hey, girls. If you don't mind me asking, but what's with the getup?"
Megumi approaches Spyro and starts explaining to him, "Well, you see, Spyro, since we're going to Gasmoxia, I decided to do some further research on the planet so we know what to expect when we get there."
"Yeah?" Spyro asks, inquisitively. "And what did you find out?"
"Well, get this." Megumi continues. "I discovered that a large chunk of its populace consists of ravenous, blood-thirsty space pirates."
"Space pirates?" Spyro asks with confusion.
"R-r-ravenous?" Koala Kong worriedly asks, shaking with fear.
"Blood-thirsty?" Coco fearfully asks as she grabs hold of Crash, who likewise gulps in fear.
"Hey, calm down, guys." Megumi reassures everyone. "Chances are we won't even encounter one of those pirates. They mostly live on the planet's surface, where the air is toxic to non-alien lifeforms."
"Well, that's reassuring… I guess…" Coco says as she lets go of Crash. "Please continue."
"So, using this vital piece of information, me and the girls created these disguises, so that way, we can blend right in to the Gasmoxian populace." Megumi continues. "We can hide in plain sight, and Velo will never see it coming!"
"And with these spare ray guns Coco lent us, any alien that dares to threaten us will learn the true meaning of pain!" Tawna says with determination as she pulls out her ray gun and strikes a pose. "Right, girls?"
"You got that right, Tawna!" Ami exclaims as she, Isabella and Liz pull out their ray guns and strike similar poses.
"So, what do you say we get going, huh?" Megumi asks as she pulls out a ray gun of her own, which Ami notices. "I always wanted to take a journey into space with my friends!"
"Whoa, hold on there, Megumi." Ami tells her as she gently takes the gun from her hands. "The last thing you need is a gun."
Megumi then moans and complains to Ami, "No fair. I can be tough and daring like you guys. Why can't you give me the chance to do so?"
"Hey, we're not saying you can't be tough and daring, Megumi, we just don't want you putting yourself in danger, that's all." Ami tells Megumi with reassurance, concerned for her safety.
"Yeah, I mean, look at all the great research you did on Gasmoxia." Liz tells her. "We could use that intelligence alongside Coco's on this journey."
"But… I just want a chance to prove I can be more than a brainiac with a cute face." Megumi moans as she sulks.
As Megumi continues to sulk, Tawna, feeling bad for Megumi, rests her hand on her shoulder and tells her, "Don't worry, Meggy. I'm sure you can find some way to fend for yourself up there, but we just don't want you to hurt yourself or worse, get yourself killed."
"Well… if you say so, Tawna." Megumi tells her as they start to head towards the rocket.
"On the plus side, it's a good thing you made these suits bullet-proof." Tawna tells her as everyone else starts to follow them to the rocket.
As the group starts to board the rocket ship, Coco turns and sees Isabella talking with Hasty.
"Isabella, come on!" Coco calls out, getting Isabella's attention. "We're almost ready for takeoff!"
"In a minute, Coco, sweetie!" Isabella tells her. "I'll be onboard in just a few moments!"
As Coco boards the rocket ship, Isabella turns back to Hasty and tells him, "Hasty, thank you so much for taking the time to look after the house while we're gone."
"Hey, no problem!" Hasty warmly tells her. "I'd do anything for you, Isabella, my dear!"
Isabella then explains some of the daily housekeeping responsibilities to Hasty, telling him, "Now remember, feed and walk the animals at least twice a day. And don't forget to look after those darling baby versions of Crash and Coco. I'm sure they'd love to hear a bedtime story from you each and every night."
"Of course!" Hasty happily exclaims. "Good luck to you and your friends, Isabella. I'll be thinking about you every second of the day."
"And I too shall think about you every day as well, my main moose of a boyfriend!" Isabella happily tells Hasty. The two of them share a kiss before Isabella boards the rocket with the others as Hasty approaches the launch control panel.
Aboard the ship, in the cockpit, everyone straps themselves in with Crash and Coco sitting in the pilot and co-pilot seats, operating the controls of the rocket.
Coco then turns to the rest of the group and asks, "Is everyone ready back there?"
"You bet we are, Coco!" Crunch exclaims as Koala Kong gives a thumbs up.
"No." Cortex snarks in annoyance whilst King Chicken rests atop his head.
"Great!" Coco exclaims as Crash presses some buttons on the control panel to get the rocket ready for takeoff.
"Let's go kick some Velo butt!" Ami shouts in excitement, ready to get their adventure started.
Coco then speaks into an intercom and says to Hasty, who is at the control panel, "All right, Hasty, open the launch bay doors!"
"Certainly!" Hasty exclaims as he pulls a lever on the wall, opening the launch bay doors.
On the surface, in Crash's backyard, the loud rumbling from the launch bay doors opening spooks Polar, Pura and Baby T., who were playing and frolicking in the backyard, prompting them to make a dash towards the house, where they hide behind the stone wall surrounding the house and shiver with fright.
Back in the cockpit, Coco, with pride and determination, tells Hasty over the intercom, "Prepare the launch sequence!"
"With pleasure, Coco!" Hasty exclaims as he presses some buttons on the control panel in front of him to start the launch sequence. The engines of the rocket start to roar and rumble as Hasty starts the countdown. "Ten... nine... eight... seven... six... five... four... three... two... one..."
He then presses a big green button labeled 'LAUNCH' as he finishes the countdown. "Ignition."
The rocket then launches out of the launch bay and into the sky, getting miles above Wumpa Island in seconds as Hasty says, "Liftoff. We have liftoff."
As the rocket starts to leave earth's atmosphere, the g-forces from the launch pin everyone to their seats, with distorted faces and warbled speech.
"Hang on, you guys!" Coco shouts as she grabs hold of the steering wheel installed at the control panel. "This is going to be rough!"
Moments later, the turbulence from the launch ends as the rocket leaves earth's atmosphere and starts to head into the deep inky blackness of space.
In the cockpit, no longer bothered by the turbulence, everyone breathes a sigh of relief as Megumi says, "Wow. Who knew takeoff could be so exciting, huh?"
"I know!" Ami exclaims as she throws her arms up. "Onward to Gasmoxia!"
"Yep!" Coco exclaims as she sets the coordinates for Gasmoxia into the computer. "We're en route and there's nothing that can stop us now!"
"Just you wait'll we get to Gasmoxia, Pinstripe." Tawna says with seriousness as the ship heads out of the Milky Way. "We're going to teach you and Velo a lesson you won't soon forget."
Back at the launch bay, Hasty watches the ship on the radar head towards its destination. He then says to himself, "Good luck, and Godspeed to all of you guys. The fate of the entire earth rests in your hands now." before doing a salute and leaving the launch bay to tend to the house.
