Outside the heroes' ship, Zam and Zem slowly approach it in their own mini-cruiser, with the intent of stopping Crash and the others from reaching Gasmoxia and thwarting Velo's master plan.
As they get closer to the ship, Zem chuckles and says to Zam, "Hee hee hee, this'll be a hoot!"
As Zam barks and slobbers in agreement, Zem picks up a phone and dials a number. "Velo, you there?"
Back on Gasmoxia, Velo is busy enjoying some leisure time in a sauna along with Oxide, Krunk, Nash, the Norms and even Real Velo. Pinstripe and Geary are not there because they had just left to steal food from the two fast food chains, Toxic Burger and Nuclear Pizza.
Hearing the nearby phone ringing, Velo gets up, approaches it and answers it, saying, "Hello, Velo here."
Hearing Zem's voice coming from the other end, Velo groans in annoyance and asks, "What do you want, Zem? Why must you interrupt our leisure time?"
"We have the bandicoots' vessel in our sights, and we're about to stop them before they can reach our atmosphere!" Zem tells Velo as his face lights up.
"Perfect!" Velo exclaims. "Once you take control of their ship, let me know and I'll bring the mothership to your location. From there, we'll make them our prisoners so they won't be able to thwart the invasion!"
"No (burp!) problem, sire!" Zem exclaims. "It'll be like takin' candy from a baby!"
"Whatever you say, you disgusting toad." Velo grumbles underneath his breath.
"Sorry, what was that?" Zem asks, having heard Velo's grumbling.
"Oh, uh..." Velo hesitates, trying to come up with a good way to rephrase what he mumbled. "I said, uh... they're planning on busting up our roads. You know, the ones that loop around the restaurants?"
Upon hearing this, Zem freaks and exclaims, "No! How will we ever be able to get those delicious drive-thru delights with all the roads busted?"
"You tell me, Zem." Velo tells him. "Just take care of them, would you? The sooner we get the invasion going, the better."
"Yes, sir!" Zem exclaims before hanging up the phone. He then starts to guide their ship closer to the heroes' ship, and as he does this, he turns to Zam and says to him, "Come on, Zam! Let's pull the plug on this operation of theirs!"
As Velo hangs up on his ends, he chuckles to himself, "Heh. Idiot." before returning to his leisure time in the sauna.
Back in the ship's control room, as Crash, Tawna, Crunch, Ami, Spyro, Isabella, Liz and Koala Kong continue to dance to the music coming from the radio while Coco, N. Brio and Megumi happily watch, Zam and Zem peek inside through the window.
Seeing that they're distracted, Zem chuckles and tells Zam, "This is perfect. Those buffoons are completely distracted. This is our time to shine!"
Zam barks in excitement as Zem scans the ship, pulling up a virtual blueprint. He examines it to find the ship's main power core, eventually spotting it on the blueprint.
"A-ha!" Zem exclaims. "Looks like the main power core is towards the back of the ship. Let's go!"
The two of them then zoom off towards the back of the ship, with the rumbling from their thrusters getting Coco's attention as she turns around towards the window, looking for what could've caused that noise.
"What the...?" Coco wonders to herself. Confused, she taps Megumi on the shoulder and asks her, "Uh, Megumi? Did you hear something outside just now?"
"Can it wait a minute, Coco?" Megumi says to her as she continues to watch the others dance. "I'm busy enjoying this tender moment."
Outside, Zam and Zem, dressed in space suits, have found a door labeled 'THIS WAY TO MAIN POWER ROOM', which Zem prys open with a crowbar, tripping an onboard sensor as the head inside the ship.
Back in the control room, a beeping sound on the control panel gets Coco's attention. She spins around and her face lights up when she sees a light flashing underneath the words 'OUTSIDE DOOR AJAR.' With a look of worry and concern on her face, she taps on Spyro's shoulder as he floats past her, still dancing.
"Uh, Spyro?" Coco asks him, uneasy.
"Whoa, that was fun!" Spyro exclaims before turning to Coco. "What's up, Coco?"
"I got an uneasy feeling that someone's trying to board our ship..." Coco tells him as she gestures him towards the flashing light on the control panel.
"Oh, man." Spyro says, uneasy with a look of concern on his face. "That doesn't look good."
"Come on." Coco tells Spyro as she gets up and motions him to follow her. "Maybe the two of us can stop these intruders before they do any damage."
"Right! Come on, Sparx!" Spyro exclaims as the two of them follow Coco out of the control room and towards the direction of where the open door is. The three of them leaving catches Cortex's attention, who takes a passing glance at the rest of the team, still floating above the ground and dancing. Realizing that they're completely distracted, Cortex chuckles sinisterly to himself as he pulls out a nail file he's been keeping in his pocket. He uses said file to break off the ropes he was bound to and quietly floats out of the control room without anyone noticing.
Outside the control room, where the gravity is normal, Cortex sneaks off to the ship's weapons vault, which is not too far from the control room, and enters it. Knowing that he has a perfect opportunity to dispose of Coco, he looks around for a good weapon to use on her. He eventually spots a super-powered laser blaster that's as big as his head. Cackling sinisterly, he takes it and cycles through the many blaster settings before coming up on the kill setting, accompanied by a picture of a charred skull disintegrating to ash. With the perfect weapon in his grasp, he exits the weapons vault and heads off to find Coco.
Meanwhile, in the ship's main power room, Zam and Zem look around for the main power core, eventually spotting it behind a protective glass case.
"Ah, this looks like the main power core to the ship." Zem says as he and Zam approach the core. "Zam, would you mind doing the honors?"
Zam barks and growls in agreement as he charges at the case, smashing it with his thick rock-like skull. Zem then takes the crowbar from earlier and jams it into the power core, killing the power to the ship.
Elsewhere, as Coco, Spyro and Sparx roam the halls looking for the intruders aboard their ship, the lights go out as a result from the power going out, with the only source of light being the glow emitting from Sparx.
"Great." Spyro groans in annoyance. "The power's gone out."
Back in the control room, as the power goes out in there, the dancer's disco attire reverts back to their space attire, the music stops and the gravity is restored to normal, resulting in those who were floating in the air plummeting to the ground with a thud.
"Hey!" Crunch groans in pain as he and the others get up off the floor. "Who killed the music?"
"Ugh, we must've passed through an electrical current or something like that." Liz says to the group.
"No problem." N. Brio tells the others as he starts towards the door leading out of the control room. "I can get the power back up and running in a jiffy. Be right back."
"Wait a minute." Tawna says in concern, getting Brio's attention as she looks behind the crates where Cortex was being kept, only to discover that he's not there. "Where's Cortex?"
Looking around, Megumi suddenly exclaims in fear, "And where's Coco?!"
"Oh, no..." Isabella whimpers in fear, realizing what Cortex is about to do. She then grabs a flashlight, charges out of the control room and screeches out, "COCO!"
"Hold on, Coco!" Brio exclaims as he, Crash, Tawna and the rest of the group follow Isabella out of the control room. "We're coming!"
Meanwhile, Coco and Spyro continue to roam the halls of the ship, with Sparx continuing to light their path forward.
"Gee, Spyro, I'm glad Sparx is here to light our path, otherwise, we'd be fumbling in the dark!" Coco tells Spyro.
"Yeah, but I'm still curious as to what could've killed the power to our ship." Spyro says with some concern. "Kinda leaves us defenseless should an enemy cruiser spot us."
"Nah, I doubt that'll happen." Coco scoffs. "I'm sure there's worse things to worry about than a simple power outage."
Suddenly, a voice from behind them calls out, "Like me!" getting their attention.
"What the...?!" Spyro exclaims as he and Coco spin around to see who's been following them.
Coco gasps in horror as she sees Cortex standing right in front of her and Spyro, chuckling sinisterly as only the glow from his laser blaster illuminates his face in a rather frightening way.
"Now I have you right where I want you!" Cortex sinisterly says as he slowly approaches Coco, who slowly backs away in fear, whimpering even harder than she did the last time Cortex tried to hurt her. "And this time you don't have any of your friends to protect you, Coco!"
"Except me, Cortex!" Spyro exclaims as he steps in front of Coco to protect her from Cortex.
"Oh, come on, man!" Cortex groans in annoyance.
"Don't worry, Coco." Spyro reassures Coco, who continues to whimper in fear. "I'll keep you safe from this menace."
Meanwhile, not too far away, Zam and Zem, equipped with a flashlight, roam the halls of the ship, continuing to search for Crash and the others. Eventually, they spot the glow from Sparx illuminating in the distance just around a corner.
"This way, Zam!" Zem exclaims as he motions Zam to follow him towards the glow.
Back with Coco, Spyro, Sparx and Cortex, Spyro, still guarding Coco, growls at Cortex, "Cortex, I'm warning you. Stand down and leave Coco alone or I'll turn you into barbecue!"
"Wrong, you purple pest." Cortex tells Spyro as he charges up his laser blaster. "If anyone's going to be barbecue, it's this lying sack of fur that you're wasting your time protecting!"
"For the last time, Cortex, Coco was not lying about our financial situation!" Spyro shouts.
"Fine. I'll just turn you both into barbecue and feed you to your friends!" Cortex exclaims as he aims the blaster at Coco and Spyro. "Goodbye, you liar!"
"Cortex, no! Stop!" Coco cries out as Cortex prepares to pull the trigger.
Luckily, before Cortex can even fire the blaster, someone behind him shouts his name, distracting him long enough for Spyro to headbutt him and pin him to the ground. The force of the headbutt causes Cortex to drop his blaster, and once it makes contact with the floor, it switches over to the stun setting, discharges and fires a couple of laser blasts, which ricochet around the hall, one of them grazing Coco across her arm, causing her to cry out in pain.
At this time, Zam and Zem have just rounded the corner and have spotted Coco and the others. However, before they can make a move on them, the two laser blasts hit them, electrocuting them before they collapse to the ground unconscious.
Likewise, as Spyro gets off of Cortex, Crash, Tawna and the rest of the group storm up to Cortex. As Cortex attempts to charge at Coco, now that he's no longer pinned to the ground, Koala Kong grabs him by both of his arms and clutches his entire body in his gigantic fists so he can't try to attack Coco again.
"Kong, stop it!" Cortex growls as Ami takes Cortex blaster and throws it against the wall, smashing it to pieces. "Unhand me this instant!"
"Shut up, Cortex!" Ami roars as she and the others, sans Isabella, who races towards Coco and Spyro, gang up on Cortex, further blocking his path so he can't hurt Coco. "You've really done it this time, you menace!"
"Oh, my goodness!" Isabella tearfully exclaims as she wraps her arms around Coco, fearing for her safety and well-being. "Coco, dear! Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine, Isabella." Coco tells her, still shaking and trembling in fear from almost being killed by Cortex. "I'm fine."
"Oh, God." Isabella fearfully says as she notices a burn mark on her arm from Cortex's laser blast. "What did Cortex do to you?"
"Well, he didn't hurt me directly, but one of his laser blasts must've grazed me across the arm." Coco tells her as she holds her arm and winces in pain. "And it really stings, too."
"Well, there's a first aid kit in the control room." Isabella reassures her. "I can tend to your wound when we get back up there."
"Why bother?" Cortex snarks, getting Isabella's attention, who slowly develops a look of pure rage on her face over what Cortex attempted to do. "I'll just make another attempt to do away with her, anyways! No treatment you provide can protect her from me!"
"Cortex...!" Isabella roars as she storms up to Cortex. "You DARE attempt to kill my daughter figure?!"
"Yes!" Cortex exclaims as he tries to wrestle his way out of Kong's grasp. "And I would've succeeded, too, if you fools didn't intervene!"
"Shut your filthy pie hole, Cortex!" Isabella snaps at him as she grabs him by the beard and pulls him in close. "Now you listen and you listen good! No one, and I mean NO ONE threatens my dear, sweet Coco the way you just did!"
"Yeah!" Tawna exclaims in anger as Crash pounds his fists together. "Maybe it's time we taught you a lesson about what happens when you mess with someone near and dear to us!"
Cortex, unmoved, simply scoffs and smugly tells her, "I would love to see you pitiful fools try."
As Crash and Tawna get closer to Cortex, she growls, "Oh, by the time we're done with you, we'll—"
However, before they can lay a finger on him, they all hear the sound of faint groaning and moaning not too far from them, getting their attention.
"Hey, did you guys hear something?" Liz asks as she listens out.
"Yeah, it sounds like... someone moaning." Spyro adds, listening out as well.
"It must be coming from the end of the hall around the corner!" Megumi tells the group as she motions them to follow her. "Come on!"
Everyone then follows Megumi in the direction to where the moaning came from, with Koala Kong dragging Cortex behind him, repeatedly banging his head on the floor with each step Koala Kong takes.
As they round the corner, Megumi turns to Sparx and asks him, "Sparx, would you mind shedding a little light here?"
Sparx nods and zips over to reveal Zam and Zem lying on the ground, unconscious and unable to move, groaning weakly.
"Oh, lord!" Tawna groans in annoyance. "It's Oxide's moronic lackeys, Zam and Zem!"
"Looks like Cortex's laser blast must've ricocheted off the walls and stunned them." N. Brio says as he determines what could've caused the two of them to be knocked out in such a fashion.
"Huh." Ami says in surprise. "Looks like you did something tight for once, Cortex."
"Why, thank you." Cortex cheerfully tells her before Tawna grabs him by the hair and yanks him up to her eye level.
"BUT this does not mean that you're off the hook." Tawna growls as she starts to take Cortex back to the control room, with Crash and the others, sans Isabella, Coco and Spyro, following close behind. "Come on!"
"Easy, Tawna!" Cortex groans in pain. "You're going to rip my hair out!"
"Good!" Ami growls. "I hope she does!"
"Hey, thanks for being here with Coco, Spyro. And you too, Sparx." Isabella tells him as she gets down to his eye level. "If the two of you weren't here by Coco's side, she would've been a goner."
"Hey, no problem." Spyro happily tells Isabella. "I'd do anything for my friends!"
"Now, there's the little matter of these two clowns..." Coco says as she, Isabella and Spyro look over Zam and Zem, who are still lying on the floor in pain.
