Hearing the static coming from their walkie-talkie, Crunch moans in agony and wails, "Oh, Ami, no!" He then cups his hands into his face and sobs, "I knew this would happen! She's been captured! I should've kept a closer eye on her so none of this would've happened!"
"Crunch, come on. Don't turn into a weeping willow on us now." Isabella tells him, resting her hand on his shoulder. "We'll get Ami out of there, using the plan we came up with. Just calm down, okay?"
"Calm down? (sniff) How can I calm down when Ami ignored my words and acted on impulse like I warned her not to?" Crunch sobs. "She's a goner!"
"Well, no matter what you could've tried, we couldn't have stopped her anyway." Coco calmly tells Crunch. "It's like she's a loose cannon waiting to go off."
Crash then pats Crunch in the back and says something to him through incomprehensible gibberish.
"Yeah, I guess you're right, Crash." Crunch tells him. "No use trying to change her into something she's not."
Crash smiles, which quickly dissipates when Crunch continues to sob, "But what good is that going to do to me, anyway? Ami's as good as dead, and it's all my fault!"
"Your fault?" Zem laughs, getting everyone's attention. "Ha! The way I see it, it's Velo's fault!"
"Oh, really?" Crunch asks, wiping his tears away. "And what makes you say that?"
"Well, if I know Velo, I know he loves to exploit his enemy's weaknesses." Velo tells the group. "And Ami's impulsiveness just so happens to be one of her weaknesses!"
"Yeah, you can say that again." Crunch snarks.
"So, that's why he brought the mothership here, knowing that Ami's impulsiveness would get the better of her and cause her to break in, allowing his forces to capture her." Zem tells him. "So if you're going to blame anyone in this situation, blame Velo, not yourself."
Motivated by Zem's words, Crunch exclaims with determination, "Yeah, Zem, you're absolutely right. It is Velo's fault, not mine! You know what, forget the plan we discussed! We're going to go up there right now and bring the fight to him!"
"But how, C-C-Crunch?" N. Brio stutters. "We have no way of g-g-getting up there."
"Or do we?" Zem smugly says, getting everyone's attention. He then pulls out a small remote control and presses a button on it.
Seconds later, a personalized space carrier large enough to carry everyone, with mega-turbo thrusters and decked out in graffiti, punk rock decals, metal head stickers and color-changing LED lights, arrives alongside the road, prompting looks and gasps of awe and amazement from the team.
"Whoa!" Spyro exclaims in amazement. "Zem, where did you get such a cruiser, huh?"
"The Norms lent it to me." Zem says as he approaches the carrier and presses another button to open the doors. "They told me they had no use for it anymore, and I was free to take it if I wanted."
"Well, you two are just full of surprises!" Liz chuckles in amazement.
"Hop in, everyone!" Zem exclaims as he and Zam climb aboard, getting into the driver's seat and front passenger seat. "We've got a damsel in distress to save!"
With that, the rest of the team piles into the carrier. Zem then closes the doors, activates the thrusters, and launches the carrier upwards towards the mothership.
Seeing them quickly approaching the launch bay, N. Brio worriedly stutters, "Zem, we c-c-can't go in through the launch b-bay! There's g-guards everywhere! They'll have us arrested before we even land the c-c-cruiser!"
"Oh, we're not going in through the launch bay." Zem says as he zooms past the launch bay. He then takes the ship down to a lower part of the mothership, where he spots a garage door labeled 'MAINTENANCE BAY. AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL ONLY.'
He lines up the ship with the door, and with a look of determination on his face, slams his foot on the ship's gas pedal, causing it to rocket towards the door at high speeds.
"Zem! What are you doing?!" Coco calls out in fear as the ship starts to rapidly increase in speed.
"Brace yourselves, everyone!" Zem shouts right as the ship passes over a landing strip leading up to the door. He then presses a button on the dashboard labeled 'EJECT', causing everyone to get launched out of the carrier, where they land on the landing strip as the ship crashes into the maintenance door and explodes, creating an opening through which everyone can enter.
"Come on!" Zem exclaims as he motions the heroes to follow him and Zam through the opening in the door, getting them inside the mothership. What Zam and Zem don't know, however, is that Velo had installed sensors along every single door leading into the mothership, in the event Crash and the others were to break in and try to stop him.
As the group darts through the halls, continuing to follow Zam and Zem, an alarm starts blaring, warning lights flash all throughout the mothership, and a computer voice says over the intercom, "INTRUDER ALERT. INTRUDER ALERT. INTRUDERS HEADING FOR THE- LAUNCH BAY. PLEASE USE EXTREME FORCE. INTRUDER ALERT..."
"Oh, great! Just great!" Zem groans in annoyance. "Velo must've added sensors to all the entrances!"
"What?!" Coco exclaims in shock.
"He must've been anticipating your arrival, so he wanted to be prepared for such an occasion!" Zem exclaims.
"Well, this is just peachy!" Liz exclaims in annoyance. "What'll we do now?"
"Only one thing to do..." Crunch says. "Fight for your lives."
Tawna then groans and mutters to herself, "Ami, if we live through this, I'm going to kill you."
Entering the launch bay, the team spots hundreds of Stench Titans, Doom Monkeys, Ratnicians, Znus and Slap-E's charging towards the team rapidly, ready to fight them to the death.
"You monsters!" Crunch roars as he activates his robot armor. "Give me back my girlfriend!"
With Crunch firing his mini-rockets, laser blasts and mohawk missiles into the crowd of henchmen, the rest of the team joins in on the fight, using their own unique skills to take out Velo's forces.
Tawna, Isabella and Liz all use their ray guns to fire laser blasts at the henchmen.
Crash, in addition to his own ray gun like the girls have, also uses his classic spin attack to knock down or disorient Velo's henchmen, allowing Koala Kong to knock them out cold or squash them flat with his massive fists.
Spyro, flying above the fight, uses his flame breath to scorch any unsuspecting minion that fires at him or chases after him.
N. Brio discovers that in his mutated octopus state, he can float above the ground. Knowing this, he joins Spyro up in the air and fires slime blasts at Velo's forces, that way, they be too distracted trying to clean themselves that they'll either be punched out by Koala Kong, blasted by the girls' ray guns, or burnt to a crisp by Spyro.
Coco, knowing that she doesn't have an offensive weapon to help her fight, gets an idea on how she can battle Velo's henchmen. She grabs a Slap-E, removes its CPU unit, and uses it to slap a Znu, eventually dribbling it along like a basketball before using it as a bowling ball to knock over several Ratnicians and Doom Monkeys. She uses this tactic with several other Slap-E's and Znus.
While all of this is going on, Zam and Zem stand to the sidelines, tossing various items to Crash and the others to use on Velo's minions, such as socket wrenches, crowbars, fire extinguishers, and the like. They even do a little fighting themselves by occasionally covering an unsuspecting minion in oil and lighting him on fire, causing him to run around in flames before disintegrating to ash.
Eventually, Crash's fighting is interrupted when Geary, who came into the launch bay with Velo's forces, leaps up and lands in front of him, armed with a blowtorch. As Geary lights the blowtorch, he chuckles sinisterly and says, "Well, well, well, if it isn't Crash Bandicoot. I still haven't forgotten the time when you tricked me and roasted me and Pinstripe in a pool of lava."
Crash slowly starts to back away, gulping and chuckling nervously before muttering something through incomprehensible gibberish.
"Oh, you're sorry about doing that, huh?" Geary says as he continues to advance on Crash. "Well, I'm afraid sorry is not going to cut it. Maybe once I subject you to the same fate you put me and Pinstripe through, then maybe you'll be sorry for ruining our plans to get legendary skins!" He then aims the blowtorch at Crash, who whimpers with fear as Geary says, "But for the time being, I'm afraid I must destroy you!"
"Hey!" Tawna shouts, getting Geary's attention as she charges up to him. "Get away from my boyfriend, you walking, talking oil can!"
She then leaps up and dropkicks Geary, sending him flying across the room, where he collides with a giant support beam. The force of the blow is so great, it knocks Geary unconscious as his body slides off the support beam and to the ground.
As Tawna chuckles at Geary's misery, she suddenly spots Megumi cowering in fear behind a set of oil drums, trembling with fear.
"Megumi, what are you doing?" Tawna shouts, getting her attention. "Get over here and fight!"
"I can't!" Megumi whimpers. "I don't have a ray gun!"
"Well... do something to protect yourself!" Tawna says as she motions Crash to rejoin the fight.
Looking around for something to protect herself with, Megumi eventually spots a crowbar inches away from her. She picks it up, gets up from off the ground and prepares to join the fight, but stops herself as a wave of conscience flows through her head.
"Oh, what... what am I doing?" Megumi thinks to herself, with a look of hesitation on her face as she glances down at the crowbar in her hands. "I can't bring myself to hurt anybody..."
However, she looks up and, to her shock, spots two Stench Titans grabbing hold of Crash and attempting to rip him in half, all while Crash cries out in pain.
"...but I also can't let these monsters hurt my friends!" Megumi growls, clenching the crowbar and charging towards the two Stench Titans, getting their attention as she whacks them in the shins with the crowbar before hitting them over the head and kicking them in the backside.
Seeing Crash lying on the ground, Megumi extends her hand out to him and says, "Are you alright, Crash?"
Crash, shaking with fright, nods and takes Megumi's hand, who helps him up.
"Good." Megumi replies with determination. "Now reattach that arm and let's get back to work!"
As Megumi starts to wail on Velo's henchmen with her crowbar, her words confuse Crash, who looks down and sees that, when the two Stench Titans engaged in a tug-of-war to rip him in half, his right arm popped clean off. Chuckling and blushing from embarrassment, he picks up the arm, reattaches it and continues to use his ray gun on Velo's henchmen.
As the fight continues to rage on, Geary eventually comes to and starts to get up from off the floor. One major change, however, is that his eyes are now their normal green color as opposed to the permanent red they were previously.
"Wha...?" Geary groggily says as he continues to come to. "Where am I?"
Seeing the fight in front of him, Geary gasps in shock and calls out, "Oh, my goodness! Stop fighting everyone! You don't want me to have to clean up all the blood, do you?"
Eventually, the fight settles down, with all the Stench Titans, Doom Monkeys, Ratnicians, Znus and Slap-E's backing away from the heroes, surrounding them in a circle.
"Ha! Giving up this easily, huh?" Crunch laughs. "Well, get ready for seconds, because we about to serve up a buffet of brutality right... about..."
However, before the heroes can continue the fight, the sound of a cannon firing is heard, getting their attention. Seconds later, a giant net falls atop the heroes from above, trapping them and weighing them down to the floor, leaving them unable to move.
As the team struggles to wrestle themselves free, some of Velo's minions move aside, allowing the team to see Pinstripe, who fired the giant net onto the heroes, and Oxide entering the launch bay.
"Well, well, well. Look who decided to crash the party." Pinstripe smugly says as he approaches the heroes while some Stench Titans remove the net that trapped Crash and the others.
"Pinstripe...!" Tawna growls through clenched teeth as Crash scowls at Pinstripe.
Seeing Tawna with the others, Pinstripe kicks Crash aside, bends down to Tawna's eye level, grabs her by the chin and forcefully pulls her in close, seductively telling her, "Welcome, my beautiful space bride. I am so glad to see you again. I'm happy you decided to come all this way out here to try and stop us, because now, I can kill that immature orange weasel you call a boyfriend and make you my one and only sweetheart."
"LET. ME. GO. YOU. MONSTER!" Tawna roars through clenched teeth.
Pinstripe chuckles, forcefully yanks Tawna off the ground and pulls her in so close, her nose and chest is pressed up against his, prompting looks of anger and disgust from everyone, including Oxide and even Megumi.
"Why would I ever want to let you go, especially after that orange fleabag forced us to get split apart on our post-apocalyptic wedding day?" Pinstripe seductively says as he caresses Tawna's hair, while grabbing hold of both her hands so that she doesn't try to slap or push him away.
"Yeah, the wedding day where you BRAINWASHED me to try and FORCE me to marry you!" Tawna roars, trying to wrestle herself free from Pinstripe's grip. "Let go of me or I am going to SCREAM and will not STOP SCREAMING!"
"Hey!" Megumi exclaims in anger, getting Pinstripe's attention. "You heard her, you creep! Let her go!"
"Silence, you filthy animals!" Pinstripe shouts, before turning to Tawna and seductively continuing, "Your interrupting our tender, heartwarming reunion."
"Tender and heartwarming, my foot!" Tawna screams as her anger at Pinstripe rapidly increases to the point where her eyes are bloodshot and she's ready to tear him a new one. "Now for the last time, LET. ME. GO!"
"Pinstripe, leave this to me." Oxide sternly tells him as he approaches him and pulls him away from Tawna. "Why don't you sit tight over there with Geary, huh?"
Tawna then breathes a sigh of relief and says, "Thank you, Oxide." as Crash gets up and darts in front of Tawna, growling viciously at Pinstripe.
Seeing that Oxide is honoring Tawna's wishes to keep Pinstripe away from her, Pinstripe sighs in annoyance and grumbles, "Fine. But I ain't through with you yet, Tawna, my pretty."
"Oh, yes, you are, Pinstripe." Oxide sternly says as he drags Pinstripe away from Tawna and places him next to Geary. "You do not get to decide what to do with our prisoners. That Velo's job, not yours! Now you just sit here with Geary and keep that sexist mouth of yours shut, lest you want me to tell Velo of your not-so-chivalrous actions."
As Oxide heads back to the heroes, Pinstripe slaps Geary upside the head and scolds, "You mechanical ninny! Why didn't you come and back me up to keep Oxide from intervening, huh?"
Geary then turns to face Pinstripe, his eyes now back to the permanent red they once were, and says, "Sorry about that, Pinstripe. I would've backed you up, but I don't want a repeat of what Tawna did to me, dropkicking me into that there support beam."
Pinstripe then sighs in annoyance and grumbles, "Just... whatever, Geary." before glaring at Oxide, who has made his way back to the heroes, and muttering, "You shouldn't have done that, Oxide. I'll teach you to interfere with me and Tawna's blooming romance..."
"Zam! Zem!" Oxide calls out, getting their attention. "Get over here, you buffoons!"
"Hee hee, watch this, you guys." Zem whispers to the heroes before turning to Oxide.
He and Zam then approach Oxide, where Zem clears his throat and puts his gross, idiotic façade back on as he says to Oxide, "Yes, Oxide? What (burp!) is it, sir?"
"You two were supposed to do away with these do-gooders here! And yet, here they are, fighting our forces in the launch bay, trying to rescue their captured friend and thwart our plans." Oxide angrily says as he continues to scold Zam and Zem. "And how did they even get in here, anyway?"
"Uh… beats me, Oxide." Zem oafishly replies as Zam shakes his head.
"Wait a second." Oxide says as something dawns on him. "You two weren't… helping these guys, were you? Because if you are, you're in for a world of trouble."
Zem then lies to Oxide, telling him, "No, no, no, Oxide! We'd never betray you, honest!"
As Zem continues to lie to Oxide, he rests his hand behind his back, allowing Crash and the others to see him crossing his fingers, letting them know he's still on their side and playing Oxide for a sap. "We were just, uh… capturing them and taking them down to the dungeon. Yeah! (burp!) Nothing more fun than capturing intruders, right, Zam?"
"Oh, really?" Oxide replies, still unsure of whether or not Zem is telling him the truth. "Well, then, if what you're saying is true, then you two can help escort these so-called 'heroes' to Velo."
"T-to Velo?" Zem stutters in surprise as he and Zam develop looks of worry on their faces.
"Yes. To Velo." Oxide firmly replies. "Is there a problem with that?"
"Uh..." Zem nervously says, sweat dripping from his forehead. "No... no problem at all, Oxide."
"Well, I'm sure they'd love to join their furry green-haired babe for whatever Velo has planned for them." Oxide gleefully says before snapping his fingers and continuing, "Guards! Bring them this way, if you please."
"Oh, I shouldn't have said that, you guys." Zem says to the heroes with regret, knowing he and Zam let them down. "I guess we don't deserve to be your friends now."
"No, Zem, it's okay. You're still our friends." Coco solemnly says as the Stench Titans force the heroes to get up on their feet. "You were just trying to keep us safe, we know that."
As Oxide starts to lead everyone out of the launch bay, Zem sighs and says, "Thanks, Coco. That means a lot."
As everyone leaves the launch bay and starts towards Velo's throne room, the villains had failed to overlook one major detail: King Chicken, who, being an ordinary chicken, casually wandered off while the heroes were fighting Velo's minions and begins to start roaming the halls, minding his own business.
