Weiss decided to stop by at the hospital after finishing her test for Advanced Firefighter-Paramedic to visit Blake. While in her room, they talked about their lives and such since the attack. "So," Blake said in her hospital bed. "You passed the AFP test?"

"Yep," Weiss happily replied. "Effective today, I am a fully-certified Firefighter-Paramedic. It's been a long time coming." She then turned out to see out the window. "So, any word on how long the recovery will be?"

"Don't even get me fucking started," Blake replied, annoyed. "The doctors are giving me conflicting dates and lengths of time. Some say I'll be back on my feet in January. Others say it will be in February. Both of those are kinda surprising, given how badly I was hurt." Blake had suffered a grand total of 4 broken ribs, a broken right leg, a broken left arm, a compressed vertebra, two broken shoulders, and numerous gashes and cuts to her body, including an inch and a half-deep gash to her left leg. "No joke, though, it was pretty bad. I'm surprised I didn't drown in my own damn blood that was pouring into my lungs because apparently one of my broken ribs slightly punctured my left lung, too."

"I can't wait for you to get back," Weiss said to her. "Things aren't the same without you at the firehouse and with hunting." She then sighed. "Well, I gotta go to Atlas from the 6th to the 16th to deal with some corporate bullshit. I'm also gonna be making some of my first major decisions as SDC CEO there too."

"I'm glad you've made it this far," Blake replied. "It's a shame the reason you became CEO was because of all this, though."

"Tell me about it," Weiss replied. "After I get back, I gotta train Yang more on driving the trucks after I get back, then I gotta get the new engine and rescue rig in order, then I gotta order a new ambulance and a new truck."

"So," Ruby said to a female servant at the Royal Palace as they stood in a dressing room. "I got everything from my old apartment unpacked. I just need it to be placed in the right rooms and I'll be all set."

"Yes, Your Highness," the servant replied as she quickly grabbed several shirts from Ruby's bag. "I will get right to it."

"Don't overexert yourself," Ruby replied, astonished by the speed the servant worked at. "I don't care how long it takes, to an extent, as long as it's done right. I mean, it shouldn't take you an hour, but don't go at the speed of light, man. That's where mistakes happen."

"Thank you, "Your Highness," the servant replied, smiling at Ruby's kind words.

Team RWBY, minus Blake and Yang, had been deployed to a rural borough located on the Eastern Shore of Vale as part of an operation to kill two brand new Grimm nests that had popped up on a long stretch of beach. Jaune, Penny, and Ren accompanied them as well. The operation would last until the 22nd.

Ruby, Weiss, and Penny were out on the beach, surveying one of the nests from a hidden cave. As Penny watched with a set of binoculars, she said to Ruby, referring to her by her rank in the Hunting Corps, "Lieutenant, come over here."

Ruby walked over and quietly asked her, "What's up, Penny?"

"Ma'am, several Grimm just started congregating near the nest, more than usual." Penny let Ruby look through the binoculars as she stepped away. "Take a look."

"You're God damn right," Ruby replied. "Weiss, call it in."

"Yes, ma'am," Weiss replied. She then radioed, "Patrol to Base Camp, over?."

"Base Camp on," Ren replied over the radio.

"The activity seems to be picking up near the nest," Weiss replied. "Do you want us to hit it or wait, over?"

There was a pause. Then, Ren replied, "Hit it."

"Hitting it, over." Weiss then said to Ruby, "Let's go kill some Grimm."

"Got it," Ruby said as she folded out Crescent Rose into its sniper form. She then laid down and took aim at a small Creep. "Thank God all those Grimm at the nest appear to be young." She then aimed squarely at its head and pulled the trigger.

A loud bang was heard as the Creep fell to the ground and began to fade away, killed instantly by a bullet to the head. Immediately, the 4 other Grimm at the nest, consisting of two Beringels, a Beowulf, and another Creep, turned around towards the direction of the shot and began to slowly walk over to see what was going on.

Penny said, "I'll take care of that." She then ran out of the cave, with Ruby and Weiss trailing behind her, as her knives flew out of her back. She then stopped as the Grimm saw the gang and congregated her 6 knives above her head before sending all 6 down upon the 4 remaining Grimm. The Grimm all cried out in pain as they were stabbed with the knives, their blood pouring onto the sand.

Weiss then activated a Fire Dust cartridge in Myrtenaster and fired it at the Grimm, setting them on fire as Ruby fired 4 more shots at the Grimm. Sure enough, within half a minute, all 4 Grimm collapsed to the ground as the tide came up and washed their blood away before their bodies faded into dust.

Ruby yelled out, "Alright! We sure got those bastards, eh?"

"You got that right," Penny replied as she patted Ruby and Weiss on the back. "Now, let's go back to Base Camp and debrief."

Weiss said to the gang, "We could be all wrapped up a day ahead of schedule at this rate." They all then laughed.

Weiss had just completed an 8-hour shift at the USC site, sifting through debris and clearing out body parts and aircraft parts. When she got home at 5, Jaune greeted her in the front room of the Schnee House with a kiss. As they embraced, Jaune asked her, "Anything today?"

"We found the remains of 12 more people today," Weiss said, feeling down. "At least 5 were of firefighters, given the fragments of turnout gear we found." She then split from Jaune and walked into the expansive living room, adorned by white walls, flowing white curtains on the large front window beside the TV, and several expensive pieces of furniture. As she sat down on a couch, she said to Jaune, "I also got word that my old apartment has a buyer. Whitley's willing to buy the apartment from me. I insisted that I wanted to give it to him for free, but he insisted on paying for it."

"That's odd," Jaune replied as he sat down next to Weiss. "I'd take the opportunity and take it for free if I was him. How much is he paying?"

"About 300,000 Lien (240,000 USD)," Weiss told him. "He's using money he made working in Atlas for the SDC. It's rather pointless, given that he's literally recycling money back into the company." She then turned the T.V. on, which was showing VNN.

A reporter on VNN said, "The insurgency in Menagerie is heating up as White Fang terrorists and their supporters on the ground continue their assault on the Menagerian government. Just yesterday, a car bomb left 26 people dead and over 100 injured in Kuo Kuana, the third largest city in the country. This followed the capture of Arasita, the fifth-largest city and the largest city in the rural eastern half of the country, where the rebellion is the strongest, on the 19th of September."

"Ruby says she's gonna apply for RVHC Special Forces after the wedding," Weiss said, concerned for her friend. "She already has the training through Beacon Academy, so she says all she needs is a week of refresher training, and she'll be all set."

"Let's hope she doesn't get herself hurt or killed over there," Jaune replied to Weiss, sullen. "We've already lost 46 guys in Menagerie."

At Yang's apartment, she and George had just finished a round of sex as they laid in their bed. However, Yang felt something was off. As she felt her stomach, she asked, "George, can I ask you something?" By now, Yang had begun to build a small baby bump.

"Sure, honey," George replied. "You can ask me anything." He then gave Yang a kiss on her forehead.

"It seems different when we, you know, have sex," Yang said to George, not really knowing how to describe her question. "I mean, it still is a great thing to do with you, but before all this, it seemed like we were raunchy and dirty and all that. Now, it feels more like we're... I don't know... Like we're more serious."

"I noticed that too, actually," George replied to his fiancee. "Is it because of the whole attack thing, or the pregnancy, or the whole marriage thing?"

"I feel like it's all three of those things," Yang replied. "I probably shouldn't have brought this up."

"No, no, no, it's fine, Yang," George replied. "I like talking like this. I love the fact that we can talk about literally everything with each other." He then got up in the bed and addressed Yang further. "Yang, you probably already know this, but let me reiterate that you can tell me anything, and it will not change my love of you at all." George then lowered himself onto Yang as they two kissed.

After they split, Yang said, "Thank you, George. I knew you were the one." They both then laughed. "Okay, that was cheesy as fuck, I know."

Ruby was in the middle of a 12-hour duty shift at the firehouse from 10 in the morning to 10 at night. As of today, the new Engine 201 and Rescue 201 were in service. The antique Engine 201 was removed from active service and sent back to the shops for storage with the other antique vehicles of the department. The antique Truck 201, as well as the military Engine 201B and spare Ambulance 201, were all to be placed out of service on December 1, once the new Truck 201 and Ambulance 201 were in service.

Ruby and Penny discussed amongst themselves in the rec room. Ruby said to her, "We've gotten 10 applications to join since the attacks. Usually, we get only 15 per year. We're on track to getting twice as many as that."

"It's the same all over the city from what I've heard," Penny replied. "The city is inundated with applications to take the paid firefighter's civil service exams, and I heard Protection #1 in downtown has gotten over 30 applications since the attacks." Penny had begun to make friends in Vale City's fire service.

"No way," Ruby replied, shocked. "That's insane." Then, she changed subjects. "Anyways, Yang is getting driver training. I just finished all of mine, so now I can drive every rig in the company."

"Cool," Penny replied. "I'm looking into that. Anyways, uhhh..." Penny seemed to be a bit hesitant. "Ruby, do you know any..."

"Any what?" It seemed, to Ruby, that Penny was going to ask her something about dating, given her tone of voice.

"Do you know any single guys, like in the firehouse or anywhere else?"

Though Ruby expected this question, she was still nonetheless flabbergasted. "Penny? You're interested in dating? I mean... I always thought you paid no attention to it."

"It's getting a bit lonely in Pennyland, I guess," replied Penny before she chuckled. "I mean, I've never... I've never had sex or anything, though I can." She then blushed. "It feels like I requested all that stuff back when I had really bad identity issues for nothing."

August 1, 2015

"Papà," said Penny in Mantillian in a very serious tone of voice to her creator, Doctor Carlo Polendina. "Sto avendo una crisi."

"La mia piccolina," replied Carlo in a very concerned voice as the two sat in his office, overlooking the bay of the City of Mantle. "Che c'è? Sono molto preoccupato per te. Ultimamente hai agito stranamente, Penny."

Penny then sighed before she paused to collect her thoughts. She then said, "Papà, mi sento incompleta come una ragazza." She then began to cry. "Non posso innamorarmi, papà. Non posso avere figli. Devo essere completa." She then switched to Valeanian as she collected herself, a practice she did to perfect her fluency in the language. "Father, I'm begging you, I need to be sent back to the labs to have a reproductive system built in."

Carlo was shaken by his daughter's grief. "I... So that is what has been bothering you, my dear."

"Yes," Penny replied as she wiped away her tears. "I feel things, yet I cannot act on them. I know that it will be an odd request, father, but please."

Carlo sighed. "Penny, are you sure you want to deal with the pain of true womanhood? The cramps? The excruciating pain of childbirth? The periods? All of that? Because that is all gonna start happening if we do this."

"Yes," Penny emphatically replied. "I don't care how painful it is. At least I will feel like a girl. I may not be a real girl, but at least I can be a girl that does everything other girls do instead of just a sexless machine who only looks like a girl." She then became adamant. "Do it, father."

Carlo paused. Then, he gave his answer. "I will get it set up with Jamie." He referred to Ironwood by his personal nickname. "Penny, as your creator and father, I will do anything for you to make you truly happy. Don't you ever forget it."

"I remember you talking about that," Ruby replied. "It must have sucked."

"It did," Penny replied. "Oh well, though. I got what I needed and wanted, right?" The two of them then laughed. "Now all I need is to actually put those parts to use." They both then laughed even harder. "I imagine you and Delwyn do that on a frequent basis."

"Oh we do," Ruby replied, still chuckling. "And he sure knows how to do that well."

Then, they were both interrupted by an EMS call. As their pagers went off, Penny said, "Wanna hop on the ambulance?" The call was for a 77-year-old male out on the street with difficulty breathing and vomiting from possible food poisoning.

"Eh, why not?" The two of them then ran out of the rec room to grab their gear and get on Ambulance 201 with two military firefighters and the two paid firefighter-paramedics as several more volunteers looked on.
