Meanwhile, back at the wrecked remains of the heroes' space carrier, after it was blown up by a bomb that Pinstripe had placed on it, a Gasmoxian clean-up crew is busy picking up the pieces of the carrier to haul off to the surface of Gasmoxia. As one alien picks up a cabinet that was thrown from the explosion onto the road surrounding Nuclear Pizza, a coffee pot falls out of it and rolls along the road before coming to a stop next to the drive-thru menu. The alien shrugs it off and carries the cabinet away to a dump truck to be hauled off.

Suddenly, the coffee pot begins to wiggle and jiggle around before the top pops off. Out of the coffee pot emerges Sparx, who had hidden away in the coffee pot moments before the carrier was blown to bits. He looks around, only to discover that Spyro and the rest of the team is nowhere to be found. He eventually spots the remains of the carrier being hauled off and panics, thinking that they all might've been blown up along with the ship, before he looks up and sees Velo's mothership hovering directly over Toxic Burger and Nuclear Pizza.

Realizing that Spyro and the others must be inside the mothership, Sparx wastes no time and flies up to the mothership to try and get the team all by himself. Once he makes it up to the mothership, he looks around for a way to get inside without being noticed.

However, Sparx fails to realize that he's hovering right above two Ratnicians, who are in a security cruiser patrolling the exterior of the mothership to keep an eye out for any more intruders, after what happened with Crash, Spyro and the rest of the team breaking into the mothership some hours ago after Ami acted impulsively to try and stop Velo herself.

Noticing Sparx hovering above them, the Ratnicians simply treat Sparx as an ordinary house fly and shoo him away, with one of them muttering, "Stupid space bug."

Witnessing this, Sparx breathes a sigh of relief, knowing that, due to his small size and the fact that he was just mistaken for an ordinary bug, he can effortlessly evade Velo's forces and security systems and figure out a way to free his friends. Post haste, Sparx flies directly into the mothership's launch bay, flying above Velo's henchmen patrolling the launch bay, and starts to roam the halls to try and find out where his friends are being kept.

As Sparx continues to fly around the halls, he eventually spots where Spyro is being kept: he has his own private prison cell which also doubles as a freezer. Velo had ordered Spyro to be placed there because he knew of how powerful Spyro was with his flame breath, so he wanted something that would hinder Spyro's abilities and keep him from escaping.

However, Sparx also discovers that Spyro's cell is being guarded by two Doom Monkeys, who are both wearing heat signature-detecting X-ray specs and are armed to the teeth. Trying to come up with a good way to distract them and lure them away from their post so he can free Spyro, Sparx floats there and contemplates on what he should do. Looking around, he eventually spots a nearby closet, which has its door cracked open enough to where Sparx could be able to squeeze in.

Being able to see the contents inside the closet from afar, he spots a box of small LED lights, a box of rubber bands, and a box of toothpicks and gets an idea for how he can lure the Doom Monkeys away from Spyro's cell. He zips towards the closet, which one of the Doom Monkeys notices from the corner of his eye.

"Hey, did you see that?" the first Doom Monkey asks, trying to get the attention of the second Doom Monkey.

"No, it must be your imagination acting up again." the second Doom Monkey replies, motioning the first Doom Monkey to remain where he is.

Sparx then flies into a closet to get what he needs. Sometime later, he emerges with an LED light and a miniature slingshot made from a rubber band and some toothpicks that have been glued together. He turns on the LED light, aims it in the direction of the Doom Monkeys, and fires it from the slingshot, hoping that the Doom Monkeys would mistake the LED light for him. Thankfully, his plan is a success, as the first Doom Monkey spots the LED light zipping past him, getting his full undivided attention.

"Wait, there it goes again!" the first Doom Monkey exclaims before abandoning his post to chase after the LED light. "Come back here, speck! I want to know all your secrets!"

"Dude! What are you doing?!" the second Doom Monkey exclaims in annoyance as he chases after the first Doom Monkey. "Get back to your post!"

Seeing that Spyro's prison cell is no longer being guarded, Sparx quickly flies over and spots a window on the cell door.

Sparx glances inside the cell and sees Spyro weakly shivering from the extremely chilly temperature, -90°C, well below freezing, as well as having all four of his limbs and his neck bounded by completely frozen shackles. As he continues to shiver, Spyro eventually looks up and notices Sparx looking through the window of his ice cold cell.

"S-S-Sparx... b-b-bud-d-d-dy..." Spyro shivers as he begs to Sparx, "Q-q-quickly, g-g-go g-g-get help... I d-d-don't know how much l-l-longer I c-c-can t-t-take in h-h-here..."

Realizing that he needs to act fast to save Spyro from freezing to death, Sparx quickly looks around for some way to free him from his frozen prison. He eventually spots a temperature dial next to door of the prison cell and figures that he can turn it to raise the temperature, melt the ice and free Spyro.

However, due to Sparx's small size and how big the temperature dial is, he is unable to get it to even budge, no matter how much force he applies. As Sparx continues to float there, pondering on how he can get the temperature dial to move, he suddenly hears faint clucking in the distance, getting his attention. He then flies off in the direction of where he heard the clucking and, as he continues to search the halls, he eventually spots King Chicken, who was able to avoid being captured by Velo's forces due to him being an ordinary chicken, casually wandering the halls minding his own business.

Remembering what happened on the heroes' carrier a few days ago when King Chicken chased after him in an attempt to eat him, Sparx's face lights up as he gets an idea on how he can turn the temperature dial and free Spyro.

He flies over to King Chicken and gets directly in front of him, getting his attention. As Sparx casually waves at King Chicken, the clueless fowl's face suddenly lights up as he remembers the time he chased after Sparx while en route to Gasmoxia. Knowing that King Chicken is about to start chasing after him again, Sparx flies off in the direction of Spyro's prison cell, with King Chicken chasing after him not too far behind.

Elsewhere, the second Doom Monkey who was guarding Spyro's prison cell has just caught up withthe first Doom Monkey, who is still looking around the halls for the LED light Sparx launched as a distraction to lure them away.

"Dude, come on!" the second Doom Monkey says as he grabs the first Doom Monkey's arm, dragging him back towards the direction of Spyro's prison cell. "Back to your post!"

"But... that speck." the first Doom Monkey protests, wanting to continue looking for it.

"You can find that speck later." the second Doom Monkey replies. "Right now, Velo needs us to keep that dragon from escaping."

Eventually, Sparx makes it back to Spyro's prison cell and rests himself atop the temperature dial, anticipating King Chicken's arrival. Hearing King Chicken approaching quickly, Sparx gets ready to fly off the temperature dial, hoping that his plan to free Spyro from his icy prison will work. As King Chicken rounds a corner and spots Sparx atop the dial, he leaps up and right before he lands on the dial, Sparx flies off and floats behind King Chicken, right as he lands on the dial.

Seeing Sparx behind him, King Chicken quickly turns around and tries to run after him, only for him to run in place, turning the temperature dial in the process. As the temperature quickly rises from a freezing -90°C to a toasty 200°F, the ice inside the prison cell starts to melt away, which Spyro notices. Likewise, Spyro's frozen shackles binding him quickly start to melt, allowing Spyro to break free.

Unfortunately, at that moment, the two Doom Monkeys have made their way back to Spyro's cell, where they witness King Chicken running in place atop the temperature dial.

"Hey, you! What do you think you're doing?" the second Doom Monkey shouts, getting the attention of Sparx and King Chicken, the latter of whom falls off the temperature dial, before casually getting up and minding his own business.

"So, tricking us and trying to free your fire-breathing friend, huh?" the first Doom Monkey says to Sparx, who darts behind King Chicken in fear. "Well, now it's our turn to bring the doom!"

The two Doom Monkeys then pull out miniature flamethrowers, charge them up and aim them at King Chicken and Sparx. The second Doom Monkey cackles and exclaims, "Looks like we're having rotisserie chicken for dinner tonight!"

However, before the Doom Monkeys can fry King Chicken and Sparx, Spyro headbutts his way out of the cell and gets in front of the pair, shooting a glare at the two Doom Monkeys, who quickly and nervously put away their flamethrowers with looks of fear on their faces.

"Oh, it's not my friends who will be barbecued for dinner tonight..." Spyro says with a smirk on his face.

Realizing what Spyro is about to do, the two Doom Monkeys start to flee in a panic, screaming in fear, but not before Spyro breathes fire at the two of them, causing their flamethrower packs to overheat as they run away. Seconds later, the packs explode, burning the two Doom Monkeys to a crisp before they disintegrate to ash, which falls through the grated metal floor beneath them. Their disembodied eyes blink.

Spyro then turns to Sparx and says with a sigh of relief, "Thanks for freeing me, little buddy. Any longer and I would've been a dragon popsicle!"

Noticing King Chicken next to the temperature dial, Spyro approaches him and says, "Huh. Guess Sparx must've gotten you to turn the temperature dial to free me. Looks like you're not so bad for just an ordinary little chicken."

Using his tail, Spyro lifts King Chicken onto his back and races off to find the rest of his friends, telling Sparx and King Chicken, "Come on! We gotta find the others and free them!"
