Ozpin's funeral had been a grand but solemn affair, with thousands packing the campus to attend. After the funeral had ended, Team RWBY plus Qrow and Raven had met up with Oscar, who was still shaken from Ozpin's death and was now expecting his voice to be inside his head at any moment. As they chatted away in the library, Oscar noted, "The one thing he never told me was how long it would take." The time was around 1 PM.
"Probably because he wanted it to be a surprise like it was for him," Qrow replied to him before he took a sip of his flask. "It builds character, knowing someone else's soul is within you."
Raven then noted to the group, "I never expected him to go out like this. I know we had our differences in the past, but..." She then sighed as she wiped her eyes. "I can't help but feel depressed over it." Qrow then patted his sister on the shoulder to comfort her. "Thank you, brawd mawr. This past year's been difficult for all of us."
Suddenly, Yang raised her hand slightly as she looked down at herself. "Uh, guys..." As she lowered her hand, she wrapped her arms around her heavily-pregnant stomach and exclaimed in pain, "Agh shit! Yep, that's a contraction!" She then turned to Ruby and told her, "Get my husband over here, now!"
"On it," Ruby replied as she got up and ran to get George, who had come to the funeral.
Meanwhile, as Sun and Delwyn walked over, having talked together for quite some time, Sun told the group, "I never would have guessed me and the freaking King of Vale would have so much in co-" They then both saw Yang and stopped. "Is... Blake, is she going into labor?"
"I think so," Blake replied as she rushed to Yang's side.
Delwyn said to the group, "I'll get some firemen here. Where's Ruby?"
"She ran off to get George," Weiss replied as she helped Blake lift Yang up onto her feet. "Raven, Qrow, she's going into labor."
"I could have told you that," Raven replied as she helped lower Yang onto the ground. She then peered over Yang from above her head, telling her daughter, "Okay, Yang, what I want you to do is-"
"Deep breaths and push after each contraction," Yang finished for her before she grunted to push. "I know, mom. It's just the first stage, though. I think they're over for now." She then chuckled at the situation. "I am an EMT, just like you. I know what's gonna happen."
Ruby then ran over with George, who was both excited and scared. "Yang! Yang!" He then ran to her side alongside Blake. "What's going on so far?"
"First stage," Yang replied as she caught her breath. "Intermittent contractions, cervical dilation, all that shit we learned in BF-CFR and IF-EMT. It's gonna be a while before he comes out."
Soon after, Delwyn ran back over with several volunteer firefighters from the Beacon Fire Company, telling everyone, "Okay, these guys got an ambulance coming. You'll be on the way to the hospital soon, Yang."
Yang gave a thumbs-up to the king while still laying down, telling her, "Thanks, bro!"

Around 3 in the morning, Ruby, Qrow, and Raven were still at the hospital, waiting for updates on Yang's delivery. George was inside, assisting with the delivery. As they sat in the maternity ward waiting area, they all looked on in anticipation. Since Yang was related to the Royal Family by marriage through Ruby and because she was an active huntress, she had been brought to a military hospital on Royal Palace grounds. As Ruby checked her phone, a doctor came out to the waiting area and called to them. "Your Majesty, come in. All of you."
As the three walked in, they saw a tired but overjoyed Yang holding her newborn son in her arms while George watched close by. Ruby gasped in joy as she moved in close with Raven, entranced by her newborn nephew's cuteness. "Oh my God... He's so precious."
Yang chuckled and sighed. "I know. His name is Michael."
Raven smiled as Yang let her hold the newborn. As he looked around in curiosity at his new surroundings, Raven saw that he had Taiyang and Yang's eyes, making her silently cry as tears flowed from her eyes. "He looks like your father."
"I know," Yang replied. As Raven then handed the baby to George, he smiled and planted a kiss on his forehead. She told her husband, "I think he has your hair, though. Not saying my own dad had bad hair or anything, but your's is a bit better." She, Ruby, Raven, and George all then laughed. "For any of his faults, none of us would be here without Ozpin, God rest his soul. I figured naming my firstborn after him is the least I can do to show respect for him."
"You're right," Blake replied with a smile.
"I got an idea," Weiss replied as she pulled out her phone. "Let's get some pictures. The last time we got a team picture was with Blake in the hospital, and I want a happier one. I'll get ones with family, too."
Qrow noted, "You're right. A happy picture would be nice. I'll take the team one." Weiss then handed him her phone as Ruby, her, and Blake gathered around Yang's bed, with the baby in her arms. As they all smiled and stared at the camera, Qrow snapped a couple photos to commemorate the occasion. "They all came out great, girls."

"And with this," Blake replied as she showed off a letter from the city civil service commission to Sun. "I'm all set to take the police exam in June. If everything goes well, I'll be going to the police academy in January."
"Assuming you're not deployed to Menagerie," Sun noted, showing off his own deployment letter. "I'll be going there from June until August."
Blake kissed him on the cheek. "Be safe when the time comes." She then returned to reading her Advanced Firefighter-Paramedic textbook, finishing some homework she had. "Anyway, it's gonna be emotional not being at the dispatch center anymore. I loved being there, but I think it's time to move on. If all goes well, my last shift there will be in December this year." Of course, just as she finished, she heard her pager ring in another room.
"Fire or medi-?" Sun was then interrupted when the siren tones went off over the pager, followed soon by the firehouse siren winding up.
Blake kissed him quickly on the lips and then ran into the other room to grab her pager. "Sounds like Red Beef's dispatching tonight!" Red Beef was the nickname of a dispatcher who had worked for many years with the VCFD's Fire Alarm Office. As she ran out, she heard the information continue to pour in over the pager, indicating it was a structure fire in the newer North Vigilant Fire Company's first-due with multiple callers and a box pull, which meant that Truck 201 would respond first from Vigilant instead of Engine 201.
Two minutes later, Blake ran into the station and quickly ran to her locker to put her gear on just as she saw Yang run to the truck and Whitley run to his gear locker. Whitley yelled over to her, "She couldn't wait to get back on the truck!"
"I know," Blake replied as she grabbed her helmet and mask and ran to the truck. As she and then Whitley climbed on, she sat down and began to zip up and buckle in her coat inside the crowded cab. Blake shouted to the paid lieutenant that sat up front behind her, "We're ready when you are!"
"It's a 99," he replied before he radioed out, "Fire Alarm, Truck 201's responding with 10, 9 interior." He then turned back around and gave instructions to the crew. "When we get there, I need three ladders raised to the second floor! I need four guys and myself to do a primary search of the second and third floor! The rest of you will stage outside!"
"On it," Yang replied from the back as she put her helmet on and turned her air pack on. "Blake, wanna go with the LT for the search?"
"Sure," she replied as she turned her pack on and then grabbed a FUBAR tool handed to her by another firefighter.
About 7 minutes later, Blake and Yang were in the second floor of the building, conducting a two-person primary search. The thick smoke kept their non-vision senses busy as they crawled through the second-floor hallway by themselves as other firefighters fought the fire on the floor below, armed with only a FUBAR tool and an axe. "Yang," Blake said to her. "The hallway's clear!"
"Got it," Yang replied. "Let's go into this apartment over here first." Yang pointed to an apartment door that read APARTMENT 2-1. "Man, I fucking missed doing this." She tried to open the door manually, but found it wouldn't budge. "Alright, we get to break shit!"
Blake found Yang's joyful mood contagious, and she smiled as she took her tool and hammered away at the wooden door to weaken it. Yang then shoved the adze end of the halligan into the jamb between the door and the doorframe, making quick work of the lock and forcing the door open. As the two crawled inside, Blake yelled, "FIRE DEPARTMENT! ANYONE INSIDE?!"
The two them split up to search the front room of the apartment, which was filled to the brim with smoke from below. Yang called out, "FIRE DEPARTMENT! CALL OUT!" As she made her way around the furniture, she continued to look around to see if she could find any shapes in the smoke. Sure enough, when she slid her tool under a couch and heard a animalistic yelp after smacking something, she looked under it and found a cat, shivering and scared of the smoke and fire as it coughed. "Blake, I got a cat!"
"Take it out," Blake yelled back. She thought to herself as she continued her search and crawled towards Yang, "Of course she found a cat while searching with me."
Yang then grabbed the cat and carefully pulled it out, trying her best not to startle it or make it attack her. "Radio it in that we got a cat and we're coming out with it!"
"Thank you for your fuckin' service," Blake hilariously complimented her. "My hero." She then radioed, "Truck 201 Search to Incident Command, we're coming out with a cat from Apartment 2-1 that Firefighter Xiao Long found."
"10-4," District 2's chief replied. "We'll get the animal medical kit ready and we'll send two guys up to relieve you."
"You're welcome for my service," Yang sarcastically replied as the two crawled out of the apartment. The two terms were often ironically used by firefighters, soldiers, Grimm hunters, and police officers as an in-joke.
Later on, at the firehouse, many of the firefighters who had went to the station for the call held a small celebration for Yang's return to service. Weiss got a cake for a bunch of guys to split with the words "WELCOME BACK YANG," and had it brought to the rec room. As a crowd of about 20 guys and girls gathered, including all of Team RWBY as well as Ren, Penny, and Whitley, Weiss called them all to order around a large table and declared, "To Firefighter-EMT Yang Xiao Long, who has returned from her 9-month spell as an exterior firefighter, and literally on her first day back as an interior firefighter rescued a cat." The entire table then raised their cups or glasses for her. "Yang, it felt so weird not seeing you inside with us, and not being here at all for the last part of your pregnancy, and I'm glad to have you back on the team."
Yang chuckled and replied, "Awww, you guys didn't have to do all this for me."
"Nah," Ruby replied. "We insist, pussygrabber." The entire room then erupted into laughter at Ruby's remark. "You've done it before in the bedroom, and now you can say you've done it in a fire, too!"
As the whole room laughed again, Yang thought to herself about Ruby's remarks, "Boy, you sure did raise Ruby right."
"Now," Blake continued. "How are we gonna divide this cake up? There are 24 of us here, after all."
