Rain: Wow, I'm legit speechless at the reviews. Thank you so much! I hope this next chapter will be as good as the first two!

Maura:…

A Mother's Love
Chapter Two: Rizzoli and Isles

Angela was surprised to see Constance at the door.

The last she had heard from Maura, her mother was still in the hospital due to her injuries but looking at the taller woman, it seemed she was well enough to be free from that place but it still surprised her that she was here.

For a moment, Angela stared at the woman's eyes icy blue eyes and as if they were staring straight through her. It made her nervous to be in front of the woman. Swallowing that nervousness, Angela gave a polite "Hello Constance," with an equally polite smile.

"Hello," Constance greeted back, her eyes narrowing lightly.

Angela remained silent for a moment.

Why in the world was she so silent? She should be able to talk as freely as she normally did but all Angela could do is stare at the other woman's eyes. "As…Nice as it is to see you Ms. Rizzoli, may I ask why you are here?" Constance asked politely, which caused Angela to blink, no longer transfixed on Constance's eyes.

"I came to speak to Maura," Angela answered. "I…I need her help regarding my Janie."

"My daughter is currently…indisposed," Constance told her but in her tone, Angela could sense concern.

Why was Constance concerned?

"Forgive me for asking but what is going on with Jane? Is it something I can help with?" Constance asked her.

Angela always felt that a family troubles should always remain within the family and while she considers Frost, Korsak and Maura as members of her family, she was still a little weary on asking for outside help.

So when Constance asked this question, Angela wanted to thank Constance for her time and come back later when Maura was available but when she looked into the Isles Matriarch's eyes, she saw a flicker of worry.

She was worried for Jane…

And that alone was enough for Angela waver on her "Family only" issues for now. "It's better if I show you," Angela said hesitantly. "Luckily, we just got Jane into my house…Well Maura's Guest House so it won't be far. I know you were in the hospital recently but are you okay to walk that far?

"I must take it slow but I can," Constance said as the corner of her mouth raised slightly.

Constance was unnerved the moment she saw the BPD's Best Detective.

Jane was sitting on the bed, her lifeless eyes staring forward with her body curled into a ball. At first, she wanted to say this was a joke. There was no way that this person was the fiery woman she had met so long ago.

"This is why I need to speak to Maura…" Angela's gentle voice told her.

Constance turned her head to glance at Angela and felt herself frowning. She may have not known Angela well but seeing a frown on her face was very off-putting.

It seemed unnatural.

But as she glanced back at Jane's despondent form, she felt a frown form. "May I try to speak to her?" Constance asked the Rizzoli Matriarch.

Angela looked at her, her coffee brown eyes showing a deep level of hopefulness that Constance had never seen before. She felt as if Angela was putting all of her wishes on her shoulders but instead of balking at this, it made her smile inwardly.

"She won't respond but please…If you can…" Angela answered.

Constance walked over to Jane and sat in front of the woman and said "Jane…It is me, Constance…"

No response.

Constance frowned and hesitantly reached out to touch Jane's left knee but if Jane could feel it, she didn't show it. It was scary to see how absent Jane was. It was as if her soul was sucked from her, leaving her body an empty husk.

Constance shook Jane's knee slightly but still, there was no response. Constance stood up and stared at the woman with narrowed eyes.

There were so many pieces missing.

Her daughter couldn't go a moment without breaking down into tears and Jane was catatonic.

Constance turned to sad smiling Angela with a noticeable frown on her face. "Can we talk in the other room please?" Constance asked. Angela nodded and the two quietly walked out, with Angela closing the door to Jane's temporary room.

The two made their way to the living area of Angela's home where Angela sat down on the couch, with Constance following her lead. "I feel as if there are a million pieces missing," Constance said after a beat of silence. "Before I was placed in the hospital, Maura was telling me all about her latest case with Jane and by the time I woke up and was ready to go, she could barely mention her name."

She noted that Angela remained silent but her brown eyes were locked on her, which caused a bit of heat to form on Constance's face. The shorter woman was so attentive when someone else was speaking but Constance felt that particular skill must have been given due to the amount of children she had.

"I was planning to talk to her today regarding Jane but the moment I did, she excused herself from the breakfast table and went upstairs to cry…She had been crying since Wednesday morning."

"Oh poor Maura…" Angela murmured softly.

"I must know…Do you know what occurred between them?" Constance asked.

Angela nodded before she took a small breath and began with "It started a few weeks ago when I stopped over at Maura's to check in on her…"

Constance sat in horror as she listened to Angela recount all that her daughter had told her about Paddy Doyle being her father, how Jane shot him and how their friendship deteriorated and when Angela was done explaining, Constance could only stare at the floor.

Maura was never supposed to find out about Paddy Doyle being her birth father. It was supposed to remain a secret until she passed away but somehow, some way, Maura had found out and in finding out, it destroyed her friendship with Jane.

But still, she felt that there were pieces missing.

And while Angela had given her a lot of the pieces, only Jane and Maura could give her the rest but one was catatonic and the other would run away before she told her. For a second, Constance thought that Angela could speak to her daughter but if Maura wouldn't tell her mother, why would she tell Jane's mother?

"I thank you for the information Angela," Constance said after a few moments of silence. "It is horrifying to know that Maura knows who her true father is after I tried to keep it hidden for so long."

"I can understand that," Angela said with a supportive smile. "Maura is a bright young woman and knowing that her father is that evil man is sickening but despite this, I still see Maura as my own daughter."

Constance let a small but genuine smile appear on her face. Constance knew that Angela meant the world to Maura due to her talking about the Rizzoli Matriarch almost as much as she talked about Jane and admittedly, Constance was a little jealous at this.

But this was of Constance's own doing.

Her failure as a parent.

Maura needed love and support and while Constance had this, she never knew how to show it in the way Angela could to her kids. "That truly means a lot Angela…Thank you," Constance told the woman with her smile growing slightly.

Angela smiled in returned, her eyes radiating so much warmth within them, Constance felt her stomach flutter.

It must have been due to the food she ate earlier.

Nothing more, nothing less.

"Still…It is concerning how both of them are handling their destroyed friendship. Jane is despondent and my daughter cries as if she lost a significant other…" Constance told Angela as she crossed her arms against her chest.

"I felt that too," Angela said. "These two act as if they lost the loves of their lives with such extreme reactions."

There was a beat of silence before Angela asked "Do you think that they were…?"

Constance immediately picked up on what Angela was saying and at first, she wanted to deny that claim but then she stopped herself. Her daughter spoke about Jane and her myriad of good qualities. Her praising Jane would sometimes get so severe, it sounded as if her daughter worshipped Jane.

And whenever she saw the pair together, whether on their day off or some event Constance invited them to, the chemistry between them was off the charts.

Constance noticed her Maura tended to be more feminine with Jane while Jane always went out of her way to touch her daughter and anytime they were near each other, their expressions would mirror that of a couple that had been married for decades and yet were still madly in love.

And judging from how her daughter cried for Jane day in and day out, Constance found herself nodding in agreement. "It's hard to tell admittedly. They could be together or they could have been going that route before this occurred," Constance answered with a frown.

"I always noticed how Jane let Maura in…" Angela said. "Jane…You know her. She's closed off emotionally. Never lets anyone in her emotional vault and when she's injured, she refuses to have anyone look after her. The last person who did that was Korsak and she asked for a new partner…But Maura…She lets Maura in so easily and willingly that it scared me at first. She lets Maura see her at her weakness. She lets Maura see her "Girly" side and often. She lets Maura see within her soul…"

"They seem to fit like a puzzle," Constance said. "And now they are shattered…All because of Paddy Doyle." Constance couldn't stop the bitterness from entering her voice at the mere mention of the Irish Mobster.

Everything he touched, he ruined and she would be damned if she let his touch ruin her daughter's happiness.

Like he had ruined her marriage…

"We can't let it end like this," Constance said with a harsh voice as she clenched fists tightly.

"We won't," Angela said to her with a determined smile on her face, which instantly reminded Constance of Jane's own determined smile. "Maura and Jane need one another. They balance each other out."

Constance nodded, her anger melting away as a small smile formed on her face. "You're right. We can't let something like this tear them apart but admittedly, this is not a familiar territory…"

"Then let's help each other," Angela said excitedly. "We've tried to help Maura and Jane separately to negative results. If we work together, we can get them back together."

Constance found herself nodding at this, Angela enthusiasm fueling her own. "I think that is the perfect idea…"

Angela beamed and held out her hand to Constance. "Then let's shake on it partner. To fixing our Jane and Maura."

Constance grasped Angela's hand with her own as she replied "To fixing Maura and Jane…"

Rain: And that is the end of that. So the partnership has been set and the healing will soon being but as you all saw, there is a second pairing to the story and that will start to show as well. So until the next chapter!

Angela: See you all next time!
