It takes a few minutes for the doctor to return. There's a nurse behind him, and another instrument in his hand.
It's a doppler, Anna recognises. There's a twisted feeling in her gut, and she swallows. Squeezes Elsa's hand and smiles at her because the worry on her face is obvious.
"What- what's wrong?" Elsa asks, eyes wide. She looks between the doctor and the nurse. The nurse smiles, and the doctor leans forward, face soft.
"One of the babies is smaller than typical, even for twins," he says. "Let's find out why, okay?
