Day 4: Canon Joey. True drabble (100 words exactly).

"No, stop!"

Joey dreamed about it sometimes: the day that changed everything.

After almost ten years and under the weight of sleep, his mind changed some of the colors, and he saw it like a picture. In real life, he'd run as fast as he could, he'd screamed, "No, stop!" He'd screamed Serenity's name. In dreams, he couldn't run no matter how he tried, and he couldn't scream, either.

But he always woke with his hand outstretched, reaching for a car that was nine years gone.

The car his mom drove the day she took her daughter and left her son behind.
