Today's oneshot comes from xxMcflyNiff1DGleeLoverxx. They asked me if I could: "[...]do a one shot where Wes finds out the guys are using steroids, and gets mad at them. He goes to Dalton to yell at them or I guess lecture them. Jeff tries to apologies and Wes lets him but doesn't forgive him fully. When Wes gets ready to leave he see's Sebastian yelling and hurting Jeff because Sebastian blames Jeff for Wes coming there.?
I didn't do 100% ask asked but I hope that's okay :)
Wes was so angry there would've come steam from his ears or smoke from his head had he been a cartoon figure. How could his little brothers do this?! How could they do this to himself?! And how could they not tell him?! Why did he have to figure it out by watching the news?! That pissed him off a lot. He had noticed a few of his Warblers not being at rehearsals even though it was time for it. Wes just growled and stalked past them without looking back.
"Wes?!" James squeaked in surprise but Wes didn't look at him. James and Frank followed their former leader hurriedly. As they walked they stormed past a few other Warblers that Wes used to know. Joseph tried to talk to him but Wes sent him a withering glare. Joseph's words died away but he ran to find John, Luke, Max and Chris. They needed to know something was going to go down. None of them had seen Wes this angry. Not even last year when he came back to sort out the Sebastian mess. Not even when he faced off with Jesse at nationals and not even when Wes jumped Jerome when he hurt Jeremiah. Wes and the little group soon reached the Warbler Hall and when they got there Joseph had found the boys he was looking for. Wes walked towards the door but Joseph and Trent got in the way.
"Wes this is a bad idea", Trent said. There was quiet inside the Warbler Hall.
"Out of my way Rivers", Wes growled darkly.
"Wes please don't do this you-"
But Wes just pushed passed him when he heard singing begin and he slammed the doors open with a bang. Everyone in the room jumped high at the sound, even the boy leading the rehearsal. He turned around and saw a very angry Asian guy stand there. The boys that knew him all looked at the floor. Those that didn't did as well because he was scary to look at. But one didn't. Hunter Clarington. He looked at the young man that just entered the room and didn't even looked a little impressed.
"Can I help you", he asked and crossed his arms. The Asian slowly walked into the room and each stepped echoed loudly.
"Is it bad that I hear the theme from the Good, the Bad And the Ugly playing in my mind right now", Chris whispered to Trent. Trent hushed him, afraid that Wes would hear them… or Hunter. Wes walked closer to Hunter and stopped a little pace away from him. Hunter looked at him slightly annoyed now.
"Can I help you with something", Hunter demanded. "Because you are interrupting our rehearsal."
"Rehearsals has been canceled for today", Wes growled.
"Says who? You?"
"Yes."
"And I should listen to you because?"
"Because I have one thing to say to you", Wes said darkly. "You injected my little brothers with steroids and I could kill you just for doing that. If you touch my little brothers with that thing again I'll fucking kickyour head off!"
"As if you could take on me", Hunter said and smirked. Wes snarled and moved his hands so that they were in a fighting stance.
"Come on then", Wes said.
"Oh yeah?" Hunter asked and took a swing at the guy. The guy grabbed his arm, turned his back to Hunter and threw the bigger boy onto the ground by pulling him over his head. Everyone else gasped in shock and horror. Hunter though flew up.
"Oh now you've done it Asian", Hunter growled and took off his tie and blazer. "I'm gonna kick your ass."
"Id' like to see you try army boy", Wes spat and Hunter went at him with a roar. He kicked and hit at the older guy but all his moves were blocked. Suddenly Wes grabbed him around the waist with one arm and his neck with his other hand. Hunter struggled but found himself thrown onto the council table.
Hunter sat up on the table and glared hatefully at the Asian. He grabbed hold of a pencil lying there. Hunter ran at Wes with it. But the Asian stepped slightly to the side, punched Hunter on the throat while taking the wrist with the pencil in his other hand. Then he grabbed the arm with the pencil with both hands, twisted it, kicked Hunter on the inner thigh and then the Asian stepped back as Hunter went down coughing. Ws was now in position of the pencil and he threw it in a paper bin. Hunter groaned and got up.
"That's all you got", he yelled and ran at Wes. He grabbed Wes' shoulder but then got another nasty surprise. Wes jumped up, hooked one leg over Hunter's left shoulder and the other underneath Hunter's right arm and slammed him onto the ground. They even mad a small roll but Wes ended up on top of him and Hunter had no way out.
"Have you had enough yet Clarington", Wes yelled.
"Let go of me!" Hunter yelled and Wes did. But only because he was hoisted off of Hunter by Joseph and Frank.
"Wes you're gonna kill him!" Joseph said.
"That was the general idea!" Wes yelled and glared at Hunter. "Then I'd kill the rest of you!"
"What", Nick asked fearfully.
"I will fucking kill all of you idiots!" Wes yelled "How the hell could you be so stupid?!"
"What do you mean?"
"How the hell could you take the steroids?! Why?!"
"Wes", Jeff tried.
"Do you guys even know what being a Warbler is all about?!" Wes yelled, fuming. "It's not just about singing and dancing and being a band of brothers! It's about being a great sportsman. About always doing what's right! About having fun! It's about evolving over time! It's about doing your best with what you got! Not what you force onto yourself! I must admit I might not always be the best loser."
Some of the boys chuckled nervously.
"But I am not suicidal either", Wes' voice cut through the laughter like diamond cuts glass. His eyes were hard and angry. The room went quiet. Whispers spread around instead.
"Taking steroids", Wes went on. "Makes you grow stronger faster… but it ruins your body, some people even die. And it's their choice, they do it to themselves, they kill themselves. Not only biologically speaking."
The boys looked confused.
"What the hell are you on about", Hunter grumbled as he got up.
"I count myself as a good leader. Not because I made sure we won everything… no I do it because I know what's wrong and what's right and I care for my health and well-being as well as the health and well-being of my team members. If I took steroids I would not just let myself down, I would let down everyone that believed in me. My team… The people that looked up to me. The ones that love me." He looked at the Warblers. "You guys are not winners and not the boys I was leading.
When I was your leader the Warblers were always proud, no matter what position they got. Competing and having fun was what we did. We were satisfied just by making a performance. Cheating gives no true satisfaction, sure you feel like you are at the top of the world when you win… but the feeling won't last." He turned away from the Warblers and looked out the window with a heavy sigh. "You start thinking about it and it eats away at you… because your regret it… but you are too afraid to come clean on your own. And later it makes you a bad person… not in competitions but to your loved ones.
When you are frustrated you often take it out on your surroundings… You hurt people. Did you know that when you take steroids you kill the side of you that knows about moral and the side that knows about ethics? A little by little you kill yourself." Wes smiled sadly. "When I was in my third year here Dalton was shaken by a suicide… a young man a senior named Elliot killed himself by drowning himself in the pool… the very same pool he had been made school champion and also state champion in butterfly four years in a row." Wes looked confused. "No one could understand it, why? Why did he do that? He had a bright future ahead of him. He was given a swimming scholarship and was going to compete in the next Olympics", Wes was smiling as he talked, fondly remembering the guy. "So why would such a star kill himself? It became clear… when his brother told everyone what he left in his letter.
He explained how he even since freshman year had used steroids to get stronger, faster, better in a shorter amount of time… and with not having to work himself as hard as all the other guys. He admitted that the guilt had eaten at him ever since he won his first 'win'. He thought he'd be able to handle it at college but when he got into the Olympic swim team… he couldn't handle it anymore.
He didn't want to become a hero for the nation and then found out as a fraud and be looked down upon by the whole worlds as a cheater. He couldn't take it and the only way to stop it from happening was ending it all." Wes sighed. "Steroids ruin lives… and dreams… it's stupid and dangerous and doesn't make you feel like the best. The guilt never goes away." He looked at the guilty looking Warblers, except for Hunter that didn't look guilty at all.
"Working hard and getting results that way is so much better for everyone", Wes went on. "I thought I taught you that."
The Warblers looked at each other guiltily. Wes sighed.
"You are such losers", he said. "And disappointments…"
"Excuse me?!", a freshman asked.
"Will you be able to live with the shame of what you have been doing?"
"I… Yeah…"
"Even when all your teachers, your friends and schoolmates look at you like that?" Wes nodded to the boys standing in the door, watching them sadly. The freshman Warbler hurriedly looked away.
"How could you be so stupid", Wes continued and looked at the boys he know in the group. "Did you want to win so badly that you forgot the feelings good and hard work gives you when you do something amazing? Did you forget everything I taught you?"
"We wanted to win… for once", Jeff whispered to Wes.
"Was it worth it?" Wes asked.
"I… I…"
"You lost some friends here Jeff", Wes said. "And some respect. I don't respect any of the Warblers. Truth is I only respect those of you that refuse. Good job boys." He smiled at Joseph, Trent and the others by the door. "But I am disappointed none of you turned to your teachers for help… yes the Warblers are ruled by the boys alone… but this is still a school and the teachers has a say in what happens behind those doors. And what hurts the most… you didn't tell me. Had you told me I would've stopped this nonsense long before we got to this."
"No you wouldn't", Hunter mocked.
"Yes I would", Wes said. He looked around at all boys. "Dalton was my home and you were my family. But no longer… I don't recognize any of you anymore." Wes looked around the room. He just shook his head and walked towards the door… leaving. But he didn't get that far. He felt a pair of arms around him and he was pulled back into a tight hug.
"I'm so sorry Wes", Jeff sobbed, revealing the hugger to be the blonde boy Wes cared for very much… ever since that day Jeff broke his arm when they helped a senior move into the Dragon.
"Just a sorry doesn't cut it here Jeff", Wes said sadly.
"I know!" Jeff said. "I know! Look I'm sorry for taking the drugs, I'm sorry for cheating. I'm sorry for spitting on everything the Warblers are. I'm sorry for forgetting what you taught us. And… And I'm sorry that we didn't tell you ourselves. I'm sorry we didn't confess. I'm sorry you had to find it out by TV…Wes I'm sorry." Jeff was crying so much it hurt his head and his throat. He felt Wes sigh before the older boy turned around in Jeff's arms and hugged him.
"You finding it out by TV was an accident Wes", Nick said. "We were going to tell you in person."
"Yeah sure an accident", Hunter growled. "I will cause an accident if you don't fucking leave!" he yelled the last at Wes. Wes glared at him
"Well, my little pretty", Wes spat. "I can cause accidents too!"
"He stole that line", Trent whispered and the three juniors with him hissed at him to be quiet. Wes either didn't hear them or did but pretended not to. His eyes were only on Hunter. Hunter found his cockiness and iron resolve crumble when he looked into those eyes. Forget Wes' almighty puppy-eyes his rage-eyes were far more powerful. They were about to turn Hunter into a squeaking terrified pile of mush but he hurried out of the room before they could. Trent blinked in confusion.
"I've never seen Hunter move so fast", he said.
"Must be the steroids", Wes growled and hugged Jeff close to him.
"Yeah in your eyes", Nick teased lightly. "How else could they be so powerful?"
"Lots of hard work and practice", Wes snapped. "Just like the Warblers should be!"
It was clear by that angry statement that Wes hadn't forgiven them, but instead of biting their heads off and killing them Wes sat all the Warblers, kicked out and active, down and they started talking about the steroids… and how to make up for it.
They must've talked for hours and when the meeting was over Wes sent the Warblers on their way while he cleaned up the mess he caused when he beat up Hunter. He hadn't planned to get physical with anyone but Hunter pushed all of his buttons and he had put his little brothers in danger by offering them the steroids. Them taking the steroids was their own fault. But Hunter offering them made Wes angry. And Hunter kicking some of the true Warblers out made Wes' blood boil.
"This is all your fault!" he heard a voice yell outside the door and then there was a bang from someone being thrown against the door. Wes recognized the voice yelling. It was Hunter.
"I'm gonna kill you Henderson!" he yelled. Wes' blood started to boil when he heard Jeff whimper. Wes gripped the thing closest to him. He was going to take Hunter by surprise.
Jeff whimpered as Hunter kept hitting him and kicking him. He fell to the floor and Hunter started kicking him. The rest of the Warblers were too afraid or too shocked to move. Jeff was bleeding from wounds on his face and he was aching all over. But he was wondering… why wasn't Wes coming? Wes always came to save him! Where was he?
"Not my brother you fucker!" a furious voice suddenly yelled and Jeff heard a loud crack. Jeff opened his eyes and moved his arms from his head. He saw everyone stare at Wes and then Hunter that was rubbing his head. Wes growled and swung at Hunter again, hitting his stomach… using his former gavel as a weapon. Hunter bent over and Wes snarled at him before hitting him in the back with said gavel. Hunter fell to the floor with a groan. Wes growled at him before going over to Jeff and pulled him up.
"Let's go see Carmichael Jeffy", he said and looked at the rest of the Warblers. "Are you coming or not?"
They all hurried up to him and Jeff. They all were staring at Wes in awe. None of them had any idea of where Wes came from. He just came around the corner and wacked Hunter in the face with the gavel.
"Did you kill him Wes", a freshman asked.
"Of course not", Wes said. "But he will have a headache and a nice circle bruise on his face."
"Serves him more than right", Trent said.
"Yes… and whatever happens guys… stick together okay? Promise me."
"Promise", they all said and Wes smiled. Maybe there was hope for his little brothers after all.
Let's see if some of you have been awake during my stories ;) Why isn't "Fred", David or Thad there? Why isn't Sebastian? And how could Wes get there without opening the doors?
Here you go, feel free to send me request by review or pm ;) And I'll see what I can do about it :D
