Chapter 13: Departures and Arrivals
Mimi was finishing packing when her mother walked into her bedroom.
"I'm gonna miss you so much!"
"Mom, I'm gonna be away for like two weeks. I've been away longer than that and you survived."
"I know, but you still were in USA."
"I haven't seen Taichi and the others for a year. I miss them."
"Okay, okay. I get it. You can go see your friends, you deserve it."
"Thank you." She said loudly and smiled. "I promise you I will call everyday, so you won't miss me as much."
"Great. Ah my baby!" Mrs. Tachikawa hugged her daughter so tight she almost made her run out of air. "Can we at least drive you to the airport? You don't have to hail a cab, you know?"
Mimi couldn't help but smile. "Fine, you and dad can take me. But please don't make a scene like you did last time. It was so embarrassing."
"You can't blame us for being emotional over it. It was your first trip alone."
"I get it. You knew these things were bound to happen sometime."
"I know. But you'll understand when you become a mother."
"I think so."
"Now, let's go. You have a long flight ahead."

Meanwhile in Japan, I was chosen to break the news for my brother as we headed to school. I hate doing these things, it's a good thing Takeru was with us.
"Taichi, we need to talk."
"Okay, about what?"
"Ah, I'm afraid I have some bad news for you."
"You're scaring me, Hikari."
"I'm sorry, this is not easy for me either."
"Hikari, do you want me to…"
"No, Takeru." I interrupted him and smiled to reassure him I didn't mean to be rude. "I should be the one to tell him."
"You two are making it seem like someone died."
"No, but…" I put a lock of my hair away. "Agumon has been captured by the enemy."
"What?"
"We tried everything we could to stop it, Taichi. He was stronger than us. I'm sorry."
"Were you planning on telling me at all?"
"Of course we were, but we had no idea how to."
"When did this happen?"
"We didn't want to worry you. It was getting late and we would probably stay the night away. We thought it was better to come back and do something today."
"We need to go there now."
"But you have a math test today."
"I need to save Agumon, Hikari."
"I know, big brother, so do I. But you can't miss your test. Mom and dad will be angry at you. I don't want them to."
"Alright, so we'll meet at the Computer Room after class. I need to go."
"Okay, good luck on your test."
"Thanks. Don't be late!"
"We won't."

Taichi couldn't stop staring outside the window and the time to hand his math test was almost up. Ever since I told him about the possibility of Agumon being controlled by the Kaiser he's been having trouble paying attention to everything and everyone around him. When the school bell rang, he quickly handed his exam and rushed to the computer room.
Koushiro stood up and looked towards the door when he opened it.
"Hello, Taichi."
"Where are Hikari and the others?"
"They aren't here yet. They should be on their way."
"They are supposed to be here by now."
"The bell just rang, Taichi. You need to calm down."
"Are you serious?" He yelled. "Last time I checked everything was okay with your partner! You don't have to worry about him being controlled by this bastard who claims to be Digimon Kaiser."
"I know, but we can't do anything before they get here. Believe me, if I had my way we would have gone to the Digital World a long time ago. I'm worried too."
"I know. I didn't mean to…"
"I'm so sorry we're late!" I said as I burst the door open. Takeru and Daisuke were behind me.
"God, Hikari. We need to go the Digital World as soon as possible! We have no time to waste."
"I know, I'm sorry."
"It's not her fault, Taichi." Daisuke spoke. "It was me and the boys who…"
"It's okay, Daisuke." I said.
"Can we please just go?" My brother said nervously. "Agumon is in danger."
"Hikari, you should open the gate."
"Alright." I walked to the computer. "Digital Gate, open."

Sora was getting everything ready to leave for England. She took one last look at her bedroom before closing the door and her heart started beating faster. It was the first time she was going to another country and without her mother. A feeling of panic filled her when she realized this was the first time she was going to travel by plane and had no idea what it was like.
"Sora, are you ready?" Mrs. Takenouchi asked from the end of the hall.
"Yes, mom." She swallowed hard and closed the door.
"Are you friends going to the airport to say goodbye?"
"No. They had a goodbye party last night, but Jyou couldn't go."
"The oldest one?"
"That's right." She sighed. "I wish dad could be there. I miss him."
"You know his work won't allow him to. But I'm sure he'd want to say good luck to you. We can call him while we get there."
"Okay."
"What now?"
"What?" Sora looked up and then away.
"If you don't want to go ahead with it, it's fine. This would be a great opportunity for you, but it's okay, Sora."
"I wanna do it. I need to prove I can pursue tennis professionally."
"You aren't trying to prove anything to me, are you?"
"No. I'm doing this for me." She said firmly.
"Good. I'm sure you will do great. And don't be upset if you lose, it will help you improve for next time. Losing is part of the process."
"I know, mom."
"Alright, let's go."
"Okay."

Koushiro was making his way up the school's stairs after buying a cup of coffee in the cafeteria when Yamato was going downstairs, with his bass hung over his shoulders.
"Oh, hello Yamato. I'm glad I found you."
"Really? Did something happen?"
"I'm afraid so." The red haired boy sighed. "The Digimon Kaiser captured Agumon and turned him into evil."
"What are you saying? Does Taichi know about this?"
"Yes. He and the Destined went to the Digital World to rescue him, but things don't look good until now."
"I want to help them." He said. "Oh, but Sora leaves today. Right now, in fact."
"Oh that's right. I totally forgot about it."
"We promised we would be there. She will be upset if none of us shows up."
"I can't go. I'm monitoring the Digital World from here so I can give instructions to Iori."
"I'll see if I can get Jyou to go with me, so Sora won't feel that sad before she leaves. Let Takeru know he has to come back and take me with him. I want to help Taichi. I should be there."
"Are you sure, Yamato? I mean, Gabumon can't evolve."
"Taichi is my best friend, Koushiro. He needs me."
"Are you telling Sora about this?"
"No, because she will want to stay and go to the Digital World as well. This is a big opportunity for her."
"You know she will be upset when she finds out, right?"
"Well, I hope she forgives me and understands my reasoning someday."
"I hope so too. Tell her I'm wishing good luck in the tournament."
"I will. Keep me updated if anything changes in the Digital World."
'Got it."

I was so tired of walking that I fell to my knees. Taichi came to me and the look in his eyes scared me.
"Get up."
"I can't. I can't feel my feet."
"I said get up."
"Whoa, Taichi." Takeru held him back before he did something he would regret. "Let's take some rest. We are all tired."
"We need to find Agumon."
"I know, but we won't be able to do anything in this situation. We don't have to spend the night here, just an hour to recover."
"If you don't want to help me, I'll find him myself."
"But Taichi…"
"It's okay, Takeru." I said as I stood up. "He's right."
"Are you okay? Can you keep walking?"
"I'll be fine. Maybe we should use our digimentals to have a better look. We'll be able to locate him faster through the air."
"It's a good idea."
"Taichi, Takeru and I are going to check the area from the air. We'll be right back."
"I wanna go too." Daisuke complained.
"Someone has to stay here in case there's an unexpected enemy."
"Fine." He crossed his arms angrily.

Yamato and Jyou were in the subway, making their way to the airport to say goodbye to Sora. The blonde was leaning against the wall while the blue haired boy was sitting beside him.
"So what happens now?"
"I don't know." Yamato shrugged. "Takeru, Hikari and the others are trying everything they can to revert the situation."
"Wow, I can't even imagine how hard it must be for them. I'd never imagine this Digimon Kaiser would do such thing."
"I know, me too. We have to be extra careful about our partners now."
"How's Taichi doing?"
"I don't know, I haven't seen him yet. I'm going to the Digital World once we go back."
"I'm going with you." Jyou stood up.
"Are you sure?" The musician lifted his eyebrows. "Because I know how much you study and I'd hate to take you away from that."
"Taichi needs us. I can study later."
"Wow."
"What?"
"Who'd know you would say something like this?"
"The Digital World changed me, I guess." He smiled. "Does Sora know about this?"
"No and I don't plan on telling her. She needs to go to this trip and join an important tournament like this."
"But you know she'd rather help us out. She will be very angry at you."
"I can deal with that later. Now let's go."

Takeru and I were flying on Pegasumon and Nefertimon to see if we could find sign of Agumon nearby.
"Do you see something?"
"No, there's nothing here."
"Maybe we should go down and wait."
"You know Taichi won't accept it. I don't…" I looked ahead and became pale. "NOOOO!"
"What?" Takeru looked at the same direction and his mouth fell open in shock.
"What happened?" Taichi yelled from the ground, below Nefertimon.
"See for yourself." I replied and looked down to see his reaction.
It was exactly how I thought it would be. It broke my heart to see him fall to his knees and I could have sworn I saw tears in his eyes, even if I was a little far.
"Nefertimon, let's go back."
"Alright."
Once we hit the ground, I jumped off her and ran to my brother. I knelt down in front of him and hugged him.
"We are going to get through this. We are bringing Agumon back, I promise."
"How, Hikari? You know you can't beat MetalGreymon if Tailmon can't evolve to Angewomon. There's nothing we can do."
"Listen to me." I grabbed his shoulders firmly and he stared at me with fear. I immediately tensed up and realized I was shocked with myself as well. "None of us are letting anything happen to Agumon. We'll do everything we can."
"She's right, Taichi."
"Alright." He stood up. "Let's do this."

Yamato and Jyou rushed inside the airport just when the voice echoed throughout the place, calling all passengers from the flight to London. They ran to the check-in area and found Sora sitting with her mother. The girl looked over and stood up when she saw them.
"Yamato, Jyou, what are you doing here?"
"We came to wish you good luck? Did you really think we would let you leave like that?"
"But you had a goodbye party for me last night."
"We wanted to come. And looks like we were just in time."
"Yeah, I should get going." She stood up and grabbed her bag.
"Oh no, let me carry that for you." Yamato took her hand away and grabbed her bag instead.
"Okay." She said surprised.
"When is your first match?" Jyou asked.
"In three days. I'm so nervous."
"Don't be, everything will be alright. Even if you don't win, it's going to be a great experience for you."
"I know. How would have thought I'd be the first one of us to go overseas?"
"You certainly owed it."
"Stop it, you're making me embarrassed." Sora blushed as they reached the gate. "Well, time to leave."
"Call me when you land." Mrs. Takenouchi said.
"I will."
Sora hugged Jyou and then went to hug Yamato. It lasted longer than a normal one would and the fact his hand was stroking her hair made both Jyou and her mother have suspicious looks on their face. When Sora realized it, she broke away and felt embarrassed.
"So, I'll see you in a few weeks."
"Good luck, Sora."
"Thank you."
She turned around, gave her ticket to the attendant and then left. Yamato and Jyou proceeded to leave and help Taichi at the Digital World.
"I'm sorry, Mrs. Takenouchi. We have something important to do now."
"It's okay. Thanks for coming say goodbye to my daughter."
"You're welcome."
"Let's go, Yamato. Taichi needs us."
"Not without me."
"I could recognize this voice everywhere."
Both boys turned and saw the pink haired girl standing in a few feet away from them, with a white mini-skirt and a blue, red and white top.
"Mimi?!"
"The one and only."
