Hey! Here's another chapter!
Camp is hard. I'd dreamed of getting to go to camp, but actually going? Well, it kind of sucks.
Picture this, Me, a person who hasn't exercised a day in her life, being asked to run several miles, spar, and attempt to climb the lava wall.
Those were just my morning classes.
My schedule was jam packed, but I still found some time to talk to Percy on Thursday.
"-And he stole me some toiletries!" He was saying.
"...Yup." I was trying to sound supportive, but I hated Luke.
Percy seemed to be having a good time though. And I wasn't allowed to burst his bubble. At least, not yet.
Percy sobered up a bit, "So, can I ask you something?"
I braced myself for questions about the future and about his mom or dad, but he surprised me.
"How long ago did you get here?"
I was a bit startled, "Just a few minutes before you, actually."
"How come you seem to know people a lot better than me, than?"
I laughed, "Well, it helps that I wasn't asleep for most of it."
Percy laughed, but there seemed to be something else on his mind, "What is that book you always carry around with you?"
I looked at my book, "it's just a book of Greek myths."
"Why do you always have it though."
I had actually prepared an answer for that one. "Visions of the future can be a little⦠well, overwhelming. I find reading helps ground me. I always have it with me because I'm never sure when I'm going to need it."
"Oh," he paused, "you lied to me earlier, didn't you?"
I felt panic building in my chest, what did he mean by that?
"You do know if I succeed in rescuing my mom, don't you? And who my dad is? I get the feeling that you know a lot more than you're sharing."
"Like Annabeth said, If I give away too much, the gods will kill me." Maybe even worse, but I wasn't about to mention that.
"But why?"
"They don't like it when you change destiny. Changing very small things can be okay, but not big things, like what you're asking."
Percy nodded "I'm sorry."
"It's alright, just remember, if there's something you can know about the future, I will tell you. I actually really hate leaving you in the dark like this."
"You do?"
I nodded. I really did. I wanted him to be ready for whatever came his way, but if he knew, it would change things, so it had to be a secret.
I decided to tell him one little secret, "Things might not be as hopeless as you may think."
He looked at me, a little startled, "what?"
"Things may not be as hopeless as you think they are."
"Really?"
I nodded, "Now, don't you have other things you need to do?"
Percy nodded and started to run off, then he turned back and smiled, "Thank you." Then he disappeared from view.
Review to let me know how I did! Also, if you want to give me suggestions on what things are going to change, review, or if you want, PM me!
