Today's prompt goes:
Lokatt:I'm a total sucker for hurt!Wes with lots of comfort from his beloved 'Brothers', so I'd like more of that! Maybe something really dark even, like, Wes gets sexually assaulted/raped and his big and/or little brothers help him through it.
You have no idea how much I struggled with this :P I had no idea where to take it... but I think I pulled it off... right?
He walked like in a trance. He was pale and sweaty and his clothes were torn. He was dragging his blazer behind him. His hair was standing up in every direction. His eyes were dull. He had dried tear marks on his cheeks. His lip was bleeding. His arms were bruised. The air around him that was usually happy and full of energy was dead and cold. The ones that saw him stared in horror and confusion. Some even pressed up against the walls or started to follow him.
He walked like a sleep walker. Not aware of anything. Not even boys calling out his name or running after him. He didn't notice boys looking scared. He didn't notice teachers looking worried. He didn't notice anything. He didn't notice his roomy fly to his feet and stare at him in horror.
He didn't notice the warm sunlight on his face. He didn't notice that he'd dropped to his knees. He looked up when the sunlight hit his eyes but he didn't feel the warmth. He didn't see the light. He didn't feel the warmth. He didn't feel the feel the comfort. He didn't feel anything. Not even the sting of a tear hitting a small cut on his face. He didn't notice his breathing slowing even more. He didn't notice the twins burst through the door. He didn't notice the hands on his shoulders. Because to him… everything just went dark.
"Wes!" David exclaimed and shook him. "Dude wake up!" But Wes didn't wake up. David found himself gently moved aside as the Everett twins helped Wes get up on his feet and onto his bed. Eric or was it Brett gently lifted Wes up and put him on his bed. The other one walked up to the door, phone in hand. There were lots of people standing in the doorway and Eric… or was that Brett closed it gently with a small smile on his face. David looked confused and then Eric or Brett smiled, the one on the phone. Wait he had a scar which means it was Eric.
"Hey it's me", Eric said and sat on the bed beside his brother and Wes. "Look you need to come home. Now."
David wondered who he was talking to but when he saw the angry frown on Eric's face it couldn't have been the right reply he got.
"I fucking don't care about your plane leaving in ten minutes", Eric growled. "You better be here soon. Just fucking listen to me! It's happened again! And this time to Wes!" David watched Eric's face, more precisely his eyes. His eyes were stormy, furious while his twin's eyes were full of worry. Brett had gotten a bowl of water and was washing the cuts on Wes' face. He gave David a gentle smile and ignored his brother who was still on the phone.
"David", Brett said. "Can you get Wes a pajamas from his wardrobe please?"
David nodded hurriedly and ran to the wardrobe and got a pajamas out. Brett was trying to get Wes in a sitting position. David hurried up to help, but before he could there was a knock on the door and Eric opened. Thad was standing there, biting his lip. The boy had yet to speak to anyone in the Warblers except Wes. Eric smiled at him and nodded for Thad to come inside. Thad hurried inside and looked at Wes. He hurried up to Brett and slapped his hands away. Brett cocked an eyebrow but moved back. Thad then surprised all three by being able to help Wes sit up, like a real professional.
"You've done this before", Brett stated. Thad just shrugged and started to get Wes' dirty and torn shirt off of him. Brett smiled and helped him while Eric finished his call.
"Jerry and Mark are on their way", he said and sat on the foot of the bed. "Wouldn't surprise me if they bring someone else with them too."
"Lucas, Austin, Joseph, Justine and Otthan", Brett stated calmly.
"Is Diaghes still stateside?"
"Who?"
"Diaz and Hughes… Diaghes."
Brett shook his head at that but he informed them that Austin and Joseph were still state side for about a week more. David looked at Eric.
"Um Eric?" he asked shyly.
"Yes", Eric asked.
"Um… you said it's happened again… what's happened again?"
Brett and Eric looked at the two freshmen before sighing.
"You see", Eric began. "Wes looking like this-"
"-isn't something new", Brett continued.
"Well that it's Wes looking like this-"
"-is new but that a student here-"
"-does isn't. Every now and then-"
"-a student comes back looking like this. But-"
"-the police never find any-"
"-proof but they think-"
"-it's a teacher because when Jerry-"
"-was a freshman it happened and then again-"
"-when he was a junior and-"
"-then again after the year he graduated-"
"-and then against last year and-"
"-now", they said together. David had been looking between the two of them and felt his neck hurt a little. Thad was holding Wes' hand tightly to him.
"But… if it's happened before… won't any of the boys that got attacked come", David began but the twins interrupted him with a unanimous:
"No."
David jumped in fright at the force of the word. Eric and Brett both sighed. But before they could clarify what they meant there were rapid knocks on the door and Eric opened. In rushed the Warblers from junior and senior years. They talked hurriedly to the twins. David moved over to Thad.
"Do you have any idea of what's going on?" he asked but Thad shook his head. "Still not talking to me?"
Thad shook his head again. David was about to ask something more when Eric walked up to them and explained the situation. Every time one of the students showed up looking like this it was due to rape. The man who did it always wore a condom and gloves so there were no marks to identify him. The students that were attacked refused to say who it was, too scared of the man. There had been one boy that wanted to come forward after the attack on him… he turned up dead the day after, before he even got the chance to go to the cops.
"He's the bravest of the bunch", Eric whispered and there were hurt written all over his face as he spoke. David noticed the Warblers leave in small groups only to return with what looked like sleepover supplies. Pillows, movies, blankets, candy, games and more.
"We are not letting Wes get into trouble", Brett said as he joined them. "Sorry David but we are camping in here until the guy is caught." David was about to object but all that was forgotten when Wes groaned and woke up.
Wes sighed as he sat between Eric and Brett in the cafeteria. The first thing he had said when he woke up was that he didn't want to talk about it. But that didn't stop the older boys and younger boys to stay close to him at all times and look out for him. Wes thought they were past all that now that he really was in high school. But obviously not.
Wes never was alone since he woke up. He appreciated it but he knew what they wanted from him. He knew they wanted him to come forth and tell them which… which teacher it was. He really wanted to but… he didn't dare to. Even Carmichael was trying to get him to tell. Dalton couldn't fire all male teachers because of this. Some had quit to show they were innocent while some stayed to prove the same. The closest anyone had gotten was Mitch Magnuson declaring that he would go to the police… he was found dead the next morning.
Wes sighed and felt tears burn in his eyes. He missed Mitch. So, so, so, so, so, much. Everyone did. Especially Justine and Nathan. They were on their way here… Wes knew and it was clear that they had arrived when he was pulled back into a strong hug. He was about to panic, for about a nanosecond, but then he felt the familiar smell of coffee mixed with tobacco and oranges.
"Mark", he whispered and hugged the young man as hard as he could.
"Hi little buddy", Mark said and hugged him close to his chest. Wes was so tense in his arms. Mark hadn't faced a Wes this tense since the boy called himself Wesley. Not since Wes got locked into that closet by mistake. Mark rubbed his back and hummed Billy Joel's Lullaby (Goodnight My Angel) and after a little bit Wes started to relax. He felt safe in Mark's arms. Mark represented safety to him. Mark could do anything and nothing could stop him. Mark was big and strong. No one dared mess with him. No one dared mess with Mark's little brothers. Wes was safe with him. He was safe…
Mark stayed with Wes at all times. No one objected about it. Not even the teachers. Mark was trying to watch for signs. Signs to what teacher could have done it. He hadn't known what to look for, too angry that someone had dared touch another of his little brothers. It was Austin and Joseph that came with the suggestions. Watch if Wes seems nervous about going somewhere. Does he get nervous heading for certain classes? Did some teacher make him scared or too calm? Mark still wondered about that last part, Austin had suggested it. Mark was going to ask him when they met face to face later that day.
It hurt Mark to see his little brother look so broken, no light in his eyes. Nothing. No life there. Just dull, numb fear. The Warblers were all gathered in the Warbler Hall doing homework together. Older students helping out younger or students helping their friends in the same grade. Wes was sitting with Mark, Kim and Thad. Thad wasn't a Warbler but Mark got explained to him that Thad never left Wes side except for during classes, but Wes always met up with him afterwards. Kim was quietly helping Thad with some math problems while Mark held a hand on Wes' back and was helping him focus on his work. Suddenly there was a soft knock on the door and everyone looked up.
"Come in", Rob Barton called and the door opened. In stepped a girl, two Latinos, two brunettes, one blonde, an African American and an Asian. Wes lifted his head and rushed out of his seat. He ran up to one of the Latinos and clung to him. Mark smiled softly as the Latino hugged Wes back. Austin also represented safeness. But also calmness, tranquility and a silent power not even Jerry had. Mark knew that Jesse St. James had been a bully to Wes and Austin was the one to keep the bastard on a tight leash. Snapping at him, making him back off, keeping him away from Wes… protecting him. Austin was also the chairman to rule during some of the hardest times in Warbler history. When Mitch tried to kill himself and when Ma Trixie got shot. Austin was a pillar to everyone during that time.
Mark did notice do that the Asian slowly edged closer and soon Wes was in his arms instead. Jerry was the first big brother Wes had ever had. The first Warbler he got close to, trusted. Jerry hugged Wes to him and nodded to Austin. Austin nodded and along with Joseph walked up to Mark. They sat down beside him and just waited. Soon, after everyone of the new comers had hugged Wes, except Joseph, Wes left with Jerry, Justine and Nathan. Nathan had cried when hugging Wes and Wes had cried too… speaking the first words since Mark met him in the cafeteria. Wes had said:
"I'm sorry Nathan."
"It's okay baby", Nathan had whispered. "I got you."
Mark, Austin and Joseph kept quiet until all the freshmen, save Thad left the room. Mark had to smile. Alvaro sat with an arm around the boy's shoulders, supporting him.
"Okay", Lucas said. "What do you know Mark?"
"Not much", Mark said and sighed. "Wes refuses to speak."
"Has he been acting nervous or scared at all?"
"No."
"Not at all?"
"No."
"Has he been acting calm?" Austin asked and Mark blinked in confusion.
"Yeah about that", he said and turned to Austin. "Why do you want me to check for that?"
Austin bit his lip before sighing.
"Okay", he said. "When I wrote my book series the witness I had in one of them didn't want the FBI to get suspicious so that they would be able to expose the killer. The killer was threatening him you see. So the witness figured that if he acted calm around the person it would lure away any suspicions. But that meant he was too calm and the FBI figured out who the killer was."
"So you reason that in the real world", Alvaro said. "This is what Wes is doing?"
"Wes has read my books", Austin said. "And I believe that he really wants to tell us who the bastard that keep doing this to students is."
"But not directly", Lucas cut in. "Wes knows the man will be watching him… he watched Mitch. He found out Mitch was going to the cops and…"
They all got quiet. The pain still too fresh for all of them, except Thad. He looked between all of the older boys and young men. He bit his lip and looked down.
"Mark have you noticed Wes acting too relaxed", Otto asked with a thick voice. He and Nathan had been crying since they heard. It was only when they got to Dalton and Justine told them to man up for Wes' sake that they stopped. Mark shook his head.
"I was looking for fear…" he admitted.
"How could he get attacked anyway?" Kim asked. "I mean… he's never alone these days. He makes sure to stay with Thad at every free minute. He's always with him."
The room was silent.
"N-not always", a low voice said. So low that they barley heard it. But Alvaro did and he looked at the boy beside him. Thad was staring at a sheet of paper. Alvaro noticed that it was a schedule.
"What's that squirt", he asked carefully and all eyes were on Thad. Thad bit his lip and placed his schedule on the table along with another one… Wes'.
"W… when I have g-gym class", Thad stuttered and pointed at the schedule. "W-Wes has h-history class."
"That's across campus", Lucas said and got a pamphlet out of his pocket. It held a map of the school. He pointed. "Thad was here and Wes here…"
"So", Logan asked.
"M-my class ends before his", Thad explained. "W-Wes always meets up with me back at the dorm… to help me with my c-catch up work."
"So?" Otto asked.
"H-he always does b-but yesterday he texted me that he would be l-late and see me at dinner…"
Mark looked around.
"Now why would he do that?" he asked.
"Unless he was kept after class", Joseph theorized.
"Which class did Mitch have before he was attacked?" Alvaro asked and looked at Otto.
"We had history class", Otto said. "But he wasn't held back by the teacher."
"But he went back for his phone!" Alvaro suddenly exclaimed. "We were here", he pointed at the corridor. "And he returned to the history classroom to get it."
"Yeah but he came back… attacked and without phone… he got it back in class next day!"
"Then… he can't have been attacked in the history classroom or by the teacher because Mr. Jones always head to his office after class and that's here", Lucas said and pointed.
"But there's an office here!" the Everetts exclaimed at once and pointed at the map.
"Mr. Stone's", Mark said. "Dragon boys always have to walk by his office to get back to the dorm."
"But so has the White Tigers", Joseph said and pointed. "When we were still in school we always walked with Dragons after class."
"And we split up here", the Everetts said and pointed.
"And no one ever goes to this part of the school except for history class or to see Mr. Stone", Lucas said. "Mark does Wes have Mr. Stone as a teacher?"
"No", Mark said and shook his head. "He's the biology teacher."
"Wes takes biology", Rob objected.
"Yes but Wes is in advanced biology class… that's Mrs. Price's class."
"Call Jerry", Austin suggested. "Have him ask Wes about Mr. Stone and see how he reacts."
Mark nodded and did.
Wes sat in his room with big eyes and a pale face. Justine was hugging him while outside Mr. Stone was taken away for questioning. Mark had called Jerry and told him about their conclusions. Jerry had asked Wes, out of the blue, what he thought of Mr. Stone and they all saw it. The horror in his eyes and after Jerry called the police with their tip Wes relaxed. When the police had questioned him Wes had looked at Nathan before he told them. Mr. Stone had called him into his office, asking if Wes would meet one of the Dragon sophomores that took his class. He had a report to give him but the boy had called in sick. Wes had walked into the office to get the report… and Stone attacked him. Wes hadn't let go of Nathan's hand.
Justine looked up as the door opened and the Warblers entered. Former and current. Jerry sat beside them and pulled Wes into a hug. Stone would get what he deserved. The police was already contacting the other boys he'd attacked and a few were going to testify against him, along with Wes.
"I… I did it for Mitch", Wes whispered. "So… so that he could get justice…"
Nathan walked over to Wes and placed his hands on Wes' knees. Wes looked at him and Nathan smiled.
"I know Mitch is smiling down at us right now", he said. "Because you are so brave and so smart. He's happy now, I know it."
"We all are, well happier because we know that we are all safe now and future students are safe too because that wicked man is gone."
Everyone stared at Thad as he spoke. He didn't stutter or looked scared at all and this was the first time he spoke so much, ever. Wes smiled at him and held his arms out to him. Thad ran up to him and hugged him. If Wes could be brave, so could he.
(Here you go, feel free to send me request by review or pm ;) And I'll see what I can do about it :D)
wesandwarblers - I'm happy you agree with her being a horrible person and that Jerry is much better off with Emma.
