Today's prompt goes:

kristal:Since Jeff and nicks first day at Dalton. Nick being a scared little freshmen and Jeff being hyper little blond bundle of energy... Trying to think happy ideas :)

He looked up at the big, grey, cold and old-looking building in front of him. It was the biggest school he had ever seen. This was the first time he was going to be sent away from his family and he was scared. He missed his family already and he didn't know anyone here. With a sigh he entered the school.

He went in through the big doors and ended up in a big entrance hall with staircases and doors and hallways everywhere. He felt so small… he was small. Small for his age and he knew he wasn't really normal. He knew it because everywhere he looked he saw boys in navy blue blazers with red piping, with white shirts, red and navy blue ties, grey slacks and black shoes. They were all so tall. Many of the boys in those navy blue and red uniforms were hugging each other.

He felt out of place when he watched them, he didn't like being hugged in public. He was out of place. He was smaller than everyone else... and weirder, according to himself. He wasn't normal so he wasn't supposed to be there. Where is there you ask? Well the all boys private school Dalton Academy in Westerville of course and Dalton was going to be his home for the next four years and he would loath every single day. Some boys looked at him curiously, a few smiled at him before hurrying along. He held a tight grip on the duffle bag that hung over his shoulder. He felt out of place again. He stuck out like a sore thumb, why? Well he was younger and smaller we established that already but he also didn't wear a uniform.

"Yo freshie, these ain't the dorms", someone said and he looked at his feet blushing madly. He was so scared he nearly trembled where he stood. He heard the bell ring and feet hurriedly left the entrance hall. He looked up and found the place nearly deserted except for a blonde boy that had a happy look on his face. He grinned at Nick and bounced up to him.

"Hi", he said and the smaller boy looked at his feet. "Are you a freshman too?"

"Yes", the kid mumbled frightened.

"That's awesome! I'm a freshman too! Where do you dorm?"

The small boy felt in his bag and found a paper and held it out to the boy. The boy took it and read through it, grinning even wider.

"Awesome" he said. "It says here that your room is ready for you in East. I can take you there if you want. It's the same dorm and room I have!"

The small boy nodded but didn't say anything.

"Well then", the guy said and smiled. "My name is Jeff. What's yours?"

"…"

"Well then 'Mumbles', come along", Jeff said and started to walk but then he realized something and turned around and grabbed hold of "Mumbles'" hand.

"Sorry", he said and looked at the boy that looked sad. "I didn't mean to sound mean calling you Mumbles like that. Come I'll show you to your room." He still held "Mumbles'" hand as he lead him towards the dorms.

On the way there Jeff practically bounced with every step and he talked none stop. The boy by his side smiled at the other's happiness.

"And Nicky", Jeff said. "It's okay if I call you Nicky right?"

Nick nodded.

"Great!" Jeff said happily and hugged him. "Oh here we are!" He opened the door to their dorm and ushered Nick inside. "All our stuff seem to have arrived. Do you want to unpack now or go around the school?"

"What about the official welcoming meeting in the auditorium?" Nick asked.

"Oh right! I forgot about that!" He took Nick's hand. "Let's go!" he shouted and dragged Nick with him out of the dorm again.

Jeff didn't leave Nick's side at all during that first day. And Nick was happy. He had been so scared at first, living in a world full of darkness and fear but then Jeff had come. And like a ray of sunlight he had helped Nick find life and joy again. And those that saw them, one who would be Nick's mentor, knew that this was the beginning of a grand friendship and later… something more.

Okay... this one sucked. And I think you noticed what I did there.
