Today's prompt goes:
Niffareforever - Can the Warblers be planning a surprise party for Wes, but every time they try to organize part of it (like the cake, decorations, invites, etc.) Wes walks in on them and inadvertently helps them with the planning :)
I didn't follow it fully but I hope I'll be forgiven.
"Okay there are two options here", Wes said to himself calmly. "One: I stepped into a Disney movie with talking mice running around. Or two: My little Warblers are up to something."
He looked around in the hallway, it was empty. But he knew he had heard running feet and hisses, making it sound a little like mice. And he knew he'd heard a door shut somewhere and more whispers.
"Warblers", he said. "Defiantly Warblers." He headed for the Warbler Hall and threw the doors open. Everywhere little Warblers scurried around and tried to hide something, most looking panicked.
"What are you doing?" Wes asked curiously and turned to John who was standing closest to him.
"We are planning a birthday party", John admitted. He could never lie to Wes. Wes smiled gently.
"And you've run into some trouble?" he asked.
"Yes…" John admitted. Wes sat down on a chair.
"Tell me about it", he said and the Warblers shared a look before they started firing questions at him. Wes listened to all their problems and smiled softly. Whoever's birthday it was Wes was sure the Warblers would make it a great day. They always did for whoever had a birthday. He wasn't sure who's birthday they were planning though. After they fired away all their questions he smiled.
"Okay for the location you can always ask Ma Trixie if you can rent the Bean", he said and smiled. "Well she usually let us borrow it and offers to bring the drinks. Just let Thad have a go at her with his puppy eyes or have the freshmen beg her. Lord knows she can't say no to any of them."
John, Luke and Chris grinned happily. Wes smiled as well.
"For the cake you can either buy one or make one. Trent is good at baking and Kurt's not too shabby either." Wes continued calmly. "As long as it has some of his favorite tastes I'm sure it will be fine."
Thad who was taking notes looked up.
"For me it's strawberry and vanilla", he said calmly. "What's yours Wes?"
"Chocolate", Wes replied. "Plain and simple." He didn't noticed Thad's smug grin.
"What about music?" Kurt asked.
"Either get a band, a boom box or we can just sing ourselves. We're Warblers for crying out loud."
"What about gifts?"
"Well we usually divide into pair or groups or buy gifts that together. It will be much easier and just as appreciated. Believe me. I have experience in this."
The Warblers all knew he had the most experience of them all, he was older after all. But they were all trying to keep their faces straight. Because Wes for the first time ever seemed clueless to what was going on around him. It was hilarious! Wes was never clueless but they guessed it had something to do with the fact that he had four big tests coming up as well as regionals and a martial arts tournament. Wes' plate was full and it made him forget something people usually didn't forget. But it made it soooo much easier for the Warblers. It meant they could ask the expert for help and that they wouldn't have to sneak around so much.
"So what else do you need help with?" Wes asked and the Warblers grinned.
The week after Wes was practicing in the dojo when he heard giggles and chuckles behind him. He turned around and found his friends from the team grin at him.
"What?" Wes asked confused and they pounced on him. Wes had no idea of what was going on. He'd just been minding his own business and all of a sudden he was being picked up, against his struggles and carried through the gym. He objected wildly but soon found himself. He'd been thrown into the pool! Why on Earth would they throw him into the pool?! When he managed to climb out they were all gone and he had to go back to his dorm… soaking wet.
Wes had just pulled a hoody over his head when hi phone beeped. He checked and saw that it was from Blaine. Blaine was asking him to come to the Bean. It was very important and had to do with the freshmen. Wes immediately got into autopilot and hurriedly dressed. He grabbed his keys and ran to his car. He had forgotten to check his e-mail. If he had he would be prepared for what was coming next…
Wes drove to the Bean, making sure to drive legally. He knew he could've parked much better than he did but he didn't care. His little freshmen were in trouble and needed him ASAP. Wes threw the door opened and entered. He nearly tripped over a chair in the dark. The place was completely quiet and he couldn't see a thing.
"Why is it so dark in here", Wes asked. The lights came on and everyone in the room shouted:
"SURPRISE!"
Wes just stood there and gaped as he saw all his friends and some grownups that he knew cared about him stood there.
"The guest of honor has arrived", Blaine called. "Time to get your party started!"
Blaine dragged Wes over to all the people and Wes got attacked with hugs from left and right and he was so overwhelmed that he nearly fainted.
"Oi sweethearts give him some air", Trixie ordered and Wes felt someone help him over to a chair. "Are you okay baby?"
Wes only stared at her and then the boys in front of him.
"You did this", he asked. "All this… for me?" they all nodded. "Why?"
"Why?!" Kurt asked aghast. "It's your birthday!"
"It's my what day?" Wes asked confused.
"It's your birthday", Nick and Jeff screamed excitedly.
"No no you're mistaken", Wes said. "My birthday isn't until the 9th."
"That's today", David said.
"Impossible."
"It's not impossible it's the truth", Nick said and showed him the today's date on his phone. "See!"
Wes just blinked in confusion and opened and closed his mouth a few times.
"Really?" he asked again and the Warblers started chattering about how they couldn't believe Wes had no idea. Carmichael laughed. He had seen this before. The seniors at Dalton often forgot their own birthdays. Wes wasn't the first and he wasn't going to be the last. Soon the party started for real and Wes actually got into the mood of celebrating his birthday.
But it wasn't until the boys were returning to Dalton and Wes was heading for his room that it him.
"Wait a minute", he said and twirled around. "I helped you plan this didn't I?!"
The Warblers living in the Dragon scattered and Wes was left feeling… stupid. He blushed and headed into his room where he was met with happy birthday wishes from his big brothers and by a few sent gifts from them as well. He smiled. It wasn't one of his best birthdays, since he didn't know what was going on and he felt stupid, but it was one of the most memorable.
Okay people I'm not quite ready yet to accept more prompts. So please try to either write the stories yourselves or wait for me to catch up. Thank you.
