Julius had been plagued by nightmares for years, so he wasn't surprised when he lapsed into another one. It didn't have much form to it, but whatever happened, he always felt those eyes watching him. The red, glowing, deadly eyes, of the one who ruined his life.
"You cannot escape forever," a woman's voice echoed, "I will find you. One way or another."
Julius felt a dark presence creep closer in the form of a spiky, Alpha Sabyr, but just before it overtook him, he woke up to a sharp pain in his arm.
"Oooowww!" he yelled instinctively as he sat up to see what had stepped on his arm. Turns out, it had come from a redhead girl, who was practically dancing around a boy with black hair and a green and black outfit. As for the dreams, he was used to them; he knew they were just meant to scare him. Thanks to Raven, he was able to prevent them from shaking his spirit in any way. To him, when the voice said she would find him, it only meant that she hadn't found him yet, and that gave him comfort. He turned his attention to the girl that had stepped on him.
"It's morning! It's morning! It's morning!" the redhead was singing.
"Hey, can you watch where you're going?" Julius said, "you just stepped on me."
"I wouldn't bother." The boy said as he stood up, "Nora's just being her usual self."
"You mean she's always this hyperactive?"
The boy nodded: "Yes. Sorry about your arm by the way."
"Don't be. It wasn't you." Julius said, then, extending his hand: "I'm Julius."
The boy shook his hand and replied: "Lie Ren. You can just call me Ren though."
"Noted. Nice meeting you, Ren."
…
A few hours later, the students had all eaten breakfast and were now gathering their gear from the lockers to prepare for the initiation. Julius learned that Ren and Nora were close friends, which was surprising considering Ren was quiet and Nora was practically bouncing off the walls with giddiness, but he didn't question it. He holstered his pistols and sheathed his sword, which he named Hell's Bane, and made his way to where they were told to go for initiation. As he did, he passed the blonde girl and her black haired sister.
"I'm not a little kid anymore," the younger girl said, "I drink milk."
"That makes zero sense, shortstack." Julius said as he passed by them. Suddenly, the younger girl zoomed in front of him in a flurry of rose petals, pointing her weapon, in gun form, at his face.
"Do NOT call me that!" she said.
"Yeah," the blonde said, walking up, "My sister's a tad bit sensitive when it comes to names. You're not totally wrong though."
"Alright then, sorry." Julius calmly said.
Then, the blonde studied Julius' face: "You seem familiar. Have we met before?"
"Maybe, you kinda look familiar too." Julius said, deciding not to say anything more on that topic until later.
The blonde stretched her hand out: "I'm Yang by the way, the one with the red gun still pointed at you is my younger sister, Ruby."
Julius shook Yang's hand: "Nice to meet you, Yang."
Just then, a siren sounded throughout the school; initiation time.
"We'll talk later," Julius said, bolting out the door.
…
The students met at the edge of a cliff, and were instructed to stand on small launchpads. Ozpin paced in front of them, followed by Glynda Goodwitch. Ozpin began explaining what the students had to do: they had to find and grab a relic on the other end of the forest and return with it. They would also have to team up with the first person they made eye contact with.
Piece of cake, Julius thought. Once Ozpin finished explaining everything, the students got in ready positions as, one-by-one, the pads the stood on launched them off the cliff. Julius chuckled to see the blonde haired in the armor flailing like a ragdoll as he was launched into the woods. Before his pad activated, Julius took out a pair of dark sunglasses and put them on; if he was going over a cliff, he was doing it in style.
Then, the pad launched him into the forest below. As he fell, he spread his coat out to act as a sort of parachute. Then, he landed in the trees safely. Once he had landed and gotten down from the trees, he shook off the leaves, and, cracking his neck, whipped out his pistols and said: "It's showtime." as he took off into the woods. Running through, he soon came across a lone Beowulf, and it had not sensed him coming yet. Chuckling, Julius, raised a pistol and fired into the Grimm's head.
"SYKE!" he yelled as the monster fell. He ended up doing this a few times as he kept running into different Grimm that were seemingly on their own in the woods. He also didn't see any other students which was weird, but Julius was too focused to really care. Finally, after impaling an ursa with his sword, Julius realized he needed a better view of where he needed to go. He decided to climb a nearby tree to get a better look, instead of climbing however, he simply teleported to the top with his semblance and looked out into the horizon. Most of it was just more and more trees. However, he did notice a clearing some distance away that had what looked like an old stone structure in it. Taking out a pair of techno-binoculars, he looked closer, and saw a group of students already there. He saw Yang, Ruby, Ren, Nora, Pyrrha, the black haired girl with the bow, the blonde haired boy with the armor, and a white haired girl with a rapier and a white outfit that didn't really seem huntsman worthy whom he had never seen before, but he didn't care. All that mattered to him was that he knew where the relics were now.
Putting the binoculars away, he was just ready to get down from the tree when he heard a screech behind him. He turned around to see a Nevermore that had noticed him and was swooping in. Julius smirked as an idea formed in his head. Just as the Nevermore was about to snatch up Julius in its talons, Julius teleported onto its back and stabbed his sword into the Grimm's back. Surprised and in pain, the creature flew back up and began flailing wildly in an attempt to get Julius off its back, forcing him to hang on incredibly tight, but it was going according to his plan as the Nevermore soared off towards the clearing. Just as it reached it, Julius pulled out his pistol, aimed it at the creature's head, and said: "Thanks for the ride." Before firing a shot into the Grimm's head. As the beast fell, Julius pulled his sword out and dove towards the ground, teleporting as he did to lessen his chance of a fall injury. Then, he landed right in the center of the stone structure, scaring a few of the students that were there.
"What the?" Nora said, "Where the heck did you come from?"
"The forest," Julius replied, "I just hitched a ride on a Nevermore to get here faster."
"You did WHAT?!" the white haired girl said, "You realize you could have been killed, right?"
"Yes," Julius calmy said, "And?"
"You really have no regards for your own life do you?"
"Not really. I'm a bit of a thrill seeker."
Yang went over for a high five: "That's the way to do it."
Julius high-fived Yang's outstretched hand and then turned to the others: "Okay, I know most of you, but not all of you. I'm Julius by the way." then, he pointed to the boy in the armor, the white haired girl, and the black haired girl: "Who are you guys?"
"Jaune Arc." The armor boy said.
"I'm Blake." The black haired girl said. Julius was really starting to think he actually had met her somewhere now.
"Well, if you must know since you somehow don't recognize me," the white haired girl said, "I am Wiess Schnee, heiress to the Schnee Dust Company."
"Oh," Julius said, "So, you're a brat."
Weiss stuttered in frustration as Ruby giggled at Julius' comment.
"Anyways," Julius said, walking over to pedestal and grabbing one of the chess pieces, "Before the princess loses her temper, we gotta get back to the Academy."
"He's right," Jaune said, "But we've got a lot of Grimm ahead of us, plus that." He said pointing to a Deathstalker whose tail was somehow frozen in ice.
"I saw a bridge at the foot of the cliff before they launched me," Julius said, "I say we run for that. It's our only shot."
"I agree," Pyrrha said.
"I don't really have a better idea, so sure," Blake said.
"Alright gang," Ruby said, whipping her scythe out, "Let's do this!"
The other pairs each went and grabbed a relic for each of them.
"Do you have a partner yet?" asked Pyrrha.
Julius shook his head: "Nah, I was hitting it solo the whole way here. Heck, I didn't even see anyone on the way here."
"Oh," Pyrrha said, "I'm sorry to hear that."
"Don't be," Julius said, "I've been on my own for most of my life. I'm used to it. Now are we going to keep talking or are we gonna get the heck out of here?"
"Oh, right," Pyrrha said. Julius took the lead and said: "I think I know the way to the bridge. Follow me!" then, as he saw the Deathstalker begin to break out of the ice, he added: "And hurry!"
With that, the group dashed off into the woods and back towards the bridge.
